Chief Sinazongwe has condemned the Chinese Collum Coal Mine (CCM) nationals for beating up Zambian workers which resulted in one them being admitted to Maamba Hospital.

The Chief bemoaned that it was unfortunate that the Chinese supervisors were still using the colonial system of beating up workers when they were on duty.

Last week four Chinese nationals at shaft three beat up two miners Kilian Chilindile aged 30 and Chipo Muleya who is 28 years old with sticks, spears, and anything they had in their hands.

“It’s a sad state of affair that colonial system is still being used when the country has laid down labour laws,” Chief Sinazongwe said.

He said Chinese investment is welcome in the country but they should follow the laid down procedures in addressing the workers’ plight.

The Chief noted that the Chinese government has invested a lot of money in the country but its does not amount to mistreating the Zambian workers and assaulting them with impunity.

Chief Sinazongwe appealed to the Mine Union of Zambia to ensure that they follow up the abuse of workers at the Chinese coal mine.

However, the Victim Chilindile said the four Chinese nationals that beat them up were detained at Sinezeze police post where they accepted the offense and paid K2 million each to the two victims.

Mr Chilindile said he was admitted to Maamba hospital after he was assaulted.

He narrated that trouble started underground where one of the Chinese supervisors detained them for allegedly failing to finish the target of 15 tones during their shift despite completing it.

Mr Chilindile said immediately they cam out of the tunnel they met a group of Chinese nationals and four of them started beating them up.

He said he has since quit his job because he could not afford to risk his life at the mine where human rights are not followed.

  1. HOW FOOLISH ARE WE AS ZAMBIANS THAT THEY CAN COME INTO OUR COUNTRY AND BEAT AS LIKE MONKEYS.I GUESS WE WILL BE TRUE MONKEYS IF WE LET THEM CONTINUE OPERATING

  2. This is such a shame for our country in this time and age! These stupid chinese people cannot do this in other countries except Zambia where the law is weak and the authorities corrupt. The solution is to deport and heavily fine the company! 2million fine is a joke but a fine of 200 million will be a deterrent! Our country is totally wasted, In K.K’s regime such behavior would not be entertained. First it was the whites during the colonial regime now chinese and worse of ba “mwenye”.What a shame!

  3. Wynter Kabimba was in a hurry to represent that guy who was shot by that minister, lets see if he can jump on this bandwagon too
These investors wouldnt dare do this in SA,maybe we should also start those xenophobic killings of foreigners like they do it in SA.These guys should not accept this 2million,its an insult

    chanibaba zoona

  4. MMD CALL THESE GUYS INVESTORS, IF SATA CAN SAY SOMETHING, MMD WILL SAY SATA DON’T LIKE CHINESE. WE CANNOT ALLOW THESE GUYS CONTINUE LIKE THIS. STUPID RB AND MMD

  5. Now we will see what the politicians will do about this. Zambians are being treated like this is not the country.

Let first and greatest responsibility of any government is to protect its citizens. These ching ching foreigners should not be permitted to behave like this. Where is our government? What are they doing about this?

  6. Beating up workers for failing to meat quotas – or for any other reason – is criminal assault. So let’s prosecute them.

  7. I watched a documentary about chinese investors in Zambia, where chinese has bought vast lands in Zambia for farming, many zambian villagers work on the farms for very little money sometimes not paid by the chinese… I hope every zambian working for them can watch it… its so sadding to hear how they insult and threaten our people with iron bars! I also blame our people for calling the chinese BWANA, Ma Zambians respects anything with a lighter skin tone than them thinking they are better…. i wish i could be invited by the Zambian goverment to teach rural zambians about morals and values. Anyone interested checkout the 60minutes free documentary titled.. WHEN CHINA MET AFRICA, its mainly about zambia and chinese investors who call Zambians “black workers”.. on black soil.

  8. Whao thats interesting am not besiding the chinese but even the two guys shud have finished the target if 15tones is the attainable target then they shud hv done the job to please the supervisor..and again beating is not a solution..

    • So I went, I only the 13-20years since the war More Can it be that you mean the kick in Herford? was just awesome baecuse: DJetzt The X is never, never so fantastic and, sorry to say, never black, female at least non-ReallyVA:F [1.9.12_1141]please wait…VA:F [1.9.12_1141](from 0 votes)

  9. These TONGASH, are very useless chaps!! How do u allow such stupidity in your own area and country in particular?? The best u could have done was to beat them up the ****IN chinese….. what investment have they brought where their workers can NOT even afford to buy a bicycle?? It is only having reluctant govt that these chaps are taking us for granted. Let them take their asses to their country where human rights are voilated. And who told those cops to determine the fine without making them appear in court? These *****s will meet their fate one day MALABISHI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  10. :o:o An investor behaving in that manner? No wander some people are against these so called Chinese investment. For starters they do not follow labor laws appropriately, they abuse the workers, they are paying less. Honestly were is the law protect the Zambian workers from these ruthless butchers? Even if we need investors in the country, we need to make sure they adhere to our labor laws and respect the human rights. These people must be reminded that this is not China were they are free to apply salve conditions, if that even applies in China. Investors must be put to task to insure that they abide by the labor laws or they risk being removed and sent back. They are not masters just because they have the money. Money cannot buy life in Zambia!

  11. Please do not give the impression that all the Chinese people are bad. Unfortunately we have, in Zambia, Chinese employers who are basically bad managers. They should be sued like any other bad employer. Imagine the political noises which could have been made if the alleged beatings had been carried out by a BOER!!

  12. It was wrong for the people who were beaten to accept the money let the Law take its course in china when you are caught they kill you, please deport those offenders were is LAZ?

  13. While! that’s interesting am not be-siding the Chinese but even the two guys should have finished the target if 15tones is the attainable target then they should have done the job to please the supervisor..and again beating is not a solution..

  14. i feel like crying…….here in china you cant fight with a chinese even on the street otherwise you would be on the next plain going to zed. these mother..f.u.c.k.e.r.s are racists. i mean blood racists. not everyone though but the majority of them.. we should kick out all bad chinese. send them to china so they can live on the 100th floor with no elevators. now with bwezan at the helm….uh…forget it!!!

  15. It very sad that brutal actions are being used for deviations to one not fulfilling their roles! As workers we must make sure that we communicate to our superiors as and when we feel the target is unattainable! If these workers were given the target which is peculiar to their normal work load then they should have raised the “alarm” to the right stakeholders! Its arrogant to be bullish to the supervisors becuase it is tatamount to insubordination. It is again more than WRONG for the supervisors to execute instant justice for actions that can be remedied! I mean, lay a charge to the offending employee or hightlight the weakness in the perfomance measurement (luckily its based on tonnes daily!)

  16. kick their ass out of Zed, these are the same people Vasco Da Banda goes round praising himself of bring in sum gud investment.

  17. kwena uku eku twingila mu tuputula!!!!!! i was reading this column with a burning heart. i dont know where our nation is going. for sure no wonder SATA says it every now and then. one of my workmates lost his job without any written worning for attending the funeral despite being in contract with these isian companies. Shame on this government.

  18. Chinese people belong to china and not zambia. The mere fact that they were allowed to come into zambia as investors they can not afford to mistreat or abuse zambians. It is zambian land, the police should deal with these muggers. If the chinese are not careful they will thrown out of zambia like Amin did in uganda. So watch this space.

  19. So they just paid them 2million each and the case is closed????? Which court ruled that they pay 2 million to each victim??? No charges??? No further prosecution???? And the F.O.O.L. living at plot 1 with his big N.O.S.E. cannot say anything because he has shares in these Contracts!! Alitumpa sana!!!!

  20. This is criminal and should not be tolerated in this day and age! It is an offense against the people of Zambia and must therefore not be treated as a civil case. Let the courts of law handle this case. There must be ways of penalising employees who do not meet their target, not beating them. But again, when you look at it these must be lazy employees for how do you explain their being beaten by the Chinese! You mean they couldn’t pick up anything to defend themselves! The story is one sided.Ministries of Labour, Mines and Home Affairs, move in and correct the mess. They should not take us for granted. Chinese embassy, do something also. The law should take its course.

  21. So will the Chinese be jioaled wor will their embassy protect them>? Rmemebr nasthiel Tumbwe a Zambian Jaile to servce sentence in USA then to be deported. here pa Zed all these foreigner are just sent back by execute jets back to base,

  22. LT u,a F.U.C.K.I.N.G U.S.E.L.E.S.S ! if u want go tell yo bwezani that he is very hopeless! to hell wth yo finished mmd together with BWEZANI.

  23. LT u,a F.U.C.K.I.N.G U.S.E.L.E.S.S ! if u want go tell yo bwezani that he is very hopeless! to hell wth yo finished mmd together with BWEZANI..

  24. hehe…I live with chinese, packstanese, Bangladesh and Indians in the same corridor. These guys thought they would belesha me coz I am black. I have told them lessons such that they always fear me when ever they see me.
Those sufferers in Zambia should be jailed for 10 years in Zambia’s Chimbokaila and then deported in pants. If Bwezwani Rb fails to jail them, then us zambians can organise our selves and travell to Mamba to beat matako of these useless stinking chinese. very Dirty people indeed. Workers at Mamba please organise yourselves so you teach these stinking chinese a lesson.

UKUTUPAMA PA MATAKO NA PA PA PA…..AMATAKO UKUSANTAULA and then take them to Rupia Banda as a chinese present. haha haha…..Ikali bane.

  25. The Chinese nationals involved in this incident need to be put on the next plane home to serve as an example. There is no excuse for this type of behavior in this time and age. The mine workers union must see that this is done immediately. During the KK era we saw a lot of racist people being deported. So we have good precedence for such actions. This will also make the Chinese learn our ways. I have no problems with Chinese investments but a line has to be drawn somewhere and this is it.

  26. We have sold off Zambia to the Chinese. There is no pride in “OUR” national flag flying at Govt., buildings. We better replace with Chinese Flags.

So what are the courts saying? Now this is a real test for the DPP> people are complaining, kindly appeal the K2m fine, those Goons must serve sentence and NOT co-current type awe shonse imwaka at Chimbokaila. Our “OWN” Tumbwe Nathaniel will serve a lengthy Jail term in USA. for an offence there. No sparing of these chinese boxers. The problem is this case shall die a natural death with us Zambians not doing anything. Several Chinese have been caught in copper scandals on copperbelt nothing has come out from those cases. The MMD Govt., sat on them.

  27. too bad for tonga bulls.
but when some chaps like sata says these choncholis must be checked, you boo him and label him anti Sino.
bakulamilopola fye ifyo fine ngamwapwalala pamanso

  28. The Chinese are investors but only to those who brought them in, whose pockets were not only lined but filled. Those who brought them in under the guise of investment privately sold our hard fought independence away, because it cost them nothing. RB was there. People bled and lost their lives. KK became a vegetarian for a reason that cannot be equated to beating. It is therefore insulting that the form of colonialism is emerging under the Chinese rule. Some one somewhere might have told the chinese that this is their land or that we can be treated in whichever way they choose and get away with it. But this is the time time for our lawyers to show their patriotism and nationalism and take on that judge and his Chinese friends and prove that no foreigner of any kind and standing can rule us.

  29. This is what happens always when you bring those who were sweepers and cleaners in their land and make them supervisors here. To make matters worse, Chinese have the worst underground safety records in the whole world, how much more in a mine where there are more of others and less of theirs? Therefore the worst is yet to come. Can someone please save us from these invaders and infesters. We must reclaim our land .

  30. MMD are like a man who jumps into a car and drives at 180km/h speed from Lusaka to Livingstone. When in Livingstone they realise they have nothing to do in the town.

  31. Only in Zambia can such things be accepted and the govt are slient. I want to hear from all those who are always praising the MMD and its govt. What is their take on this?

  32. # No 34 Your cry is the same as mine. The biggest problem is that we have no government. our govmnt is Chinese. Please Zambians unite on this. No need to go tribal. A Zambian is Zambian regardless of where they are found. It is our national pride that has been insulted here. Think of this story being read the world over and yet our comment lack seriousness. What a government. Everything is laughable- from royalties to presidential global trotting, from corruption to courts. What a life!

  33. Jail those Chinese! Lynch them and let then hang by their eyes. Take them to Chimbokaila and let them be sodomized by big Zambian mbolos! Why the heckl should they even accept the 2M? Under which law was the money paid? No wonder Haka-Sata has said….

  34. Am upset beyond redemption, not at the Chinese but at us Zambians. How do u let a foreigner beat the hell at of you in your own village. I assume other workers or villagers were watching and possibly cheering the Chinese as they wacked there follower countrymen. Why not gang up and defend your friends. Clearly we Zambians fall to support our fellow Zambians it happens in business, overseas and now in villages. Lets learn to support and protect our own, there are only 13 million plus of us in the whole wide world.

  35. Don’t jail the Chinese, BURN THEM WITH TIRES. How can 4 Chinese miglets scon terror on the whole populace in Sinazongwe. This tourist president will not help you, just go ahead and burn these Chinese with tires tied to there necks. We’re sick and tired of stupidness from these MMD FOOLS

  36. Kaili mwa lelumba na ba MMD benue when Chinese Ambassador called SATA “a politician of queer breed” or something of the sort. He told you pint blank on Voice of America at this is not invetsment.. ni Horse rider relationship.. Ati atusebanya.. it’s simple. you reap what you sow. I guess in many pipo’s eyes pipo like SATA are the worst things that ever happened after Hiroshima.. So Zambians, swallow this and you shouldn’t complain. You knew what you were buying why complain now?

  37. Atase! What is this nonsense. Utuma choncholi ukusamwa! They have no better ways of resolving problems. Those China men should be deported. What is 2 million offered to de victims?

  38. I share the indignation felt by fellow Zedians here. But if we were to be level headed, our country has been sleep walking into neo- colonialism with our unbridled desire to woo Investors (infestors). What is happening is just a microcosm of what to come. Today it is the poor farmers and poor miners but tomorrow watch, it would be the army and police fighting the chinese armed infestors.
The present government is blinded by its unprincipled obsession with Chinese investment at the expense of the zambian people’s dignity.
But I am heartened that the spirit of the people will thrive. The spirit of Lawrence Katilungu and those gallant Zambians shall once more arise. Viva Zambia let us mobilise and face these chinese *****s and their mmd government head on. The people shall arise!!!

  39. What impresses me the most is how long it took the chinese to shed off their veneer. Chief Sinazongwe watch out; you’re next.

  40. Ching Ching have no respect for human rights. Its worse in China. We should not allow them to treat Zambians like this. This company needs to be punished severely. Let RB speak about this. Let VP Kunda stop politics for day and show concern for the Zambian people.

    Deport the Ching Chings!

  41. And then they’ll start wondering where Xenophobia will come from when people start taking the law into their own hands. . .

  42. This is what happens when you have a govt with weak labor laws. In Britain a foreigner cannot even slap a British citizen and one risks deportation. The Zambian Labor Ministry needs to be strengthened to ensure optimum security for all the workers. Beating up workers is reminiscent of colonial rule and it should not be entertained in this era and age. Let those Chine know that if a Zambian worker fails to perform, they are are to pursue such issues in line with the labor laws. We ve sold our country.

  43. The Chinese aren’t investing in Zambia because they care about Zambia or its people. They are simply paying the minimum they can to get what they want, and exploitation is how they get it. Don’t think they’ll do anything for Zambia out of “good will,” because they will not happen, ever. They don’t even do it for one another in China, so don’t expect them to have “resolved” their xenophobia overnight.

Zambia (and all nations), WAKE UP! They claim to be a “developing nation” and still themselves beg for aid and yet they want to taken as a bona fide world power. The Chinese will bully, exploit or steal anything and everything they want. All those Chinese fish pirates off the coast stealing wildlife from your shores? It’s not going to change till they get a taste of their…

  44. so much have been said. wrong it was for the chinese to use gun power. foolish is our culture that is so active when demanding the pay and so lazy to put in what is deserving of the grudas demanded.we must learn to work hard and not to demand hard sometimes one feels like ………

    • I intended to post you that litlte remark just to thank you once again just for the stunning advice you’ve documented at this time. This is so wonderfully generous with people like you to deliver easily what many individuals might have advertised as an e-book to generate some cash for their own end, precisely now that you could possibly have tried it if you ever decided. These guidelines in addition worked to become a easy way to realize that other people online have a similar zeal much like my very own to understand very much more concerning this matter. I am sure there are lots of more enjoyable opportunities ahead for folks who read your blog post.

  45. My children, I watch your excitement at the mention of investors. What I wonder is if you knew is the kind of demons that come with these people. And I ask this question: As a christian nation are we doing our duty to ask Our Mighty father in heaven to cleanse these souls before and when they land on our soil?
It baffles me how a sober person can lift up their muzzleloader and make it spit its contents on poor Tonga children of God.
Father in heaven, have mercy on those your people who shot at your people. Give us your grace to forgive them so you can forgive our sins. AMEN

  46. I believe that tiakng a time off is always necessary. Nevertheless, it is nearly impossible for some people (for example, myself ) being completely off line. Despite I am on vacation, I always must be doing something. For instance, I take my laptop to every where, and have some work before any enjoyment. I think resting is more pleasant in that way.Daniel recently posted..
