UNITED Party for National Development (UPND) president Hakainde Hichilema has reiterated that he will run in the presidential race this year again and has refused to withdraw from this year’s presidential elections.

Reacting to a call made by the New Generation Party (NGP) President Humphrey Siulapwa for him to not take party in the presidential race, Mr Hichilema said that Mr Siulappwa was entitled to make his comments as Zambia is a democracy where people are free to express their views.

Mr. Siulapwa, speaking today at a public rally in Nampundwe, urged Mr. Hichilema to consider working with the ruling MMD. NGP President said that Mr. Hichilema should not waste his resources campaigning as a presidential candidate.

Mr. Siulapwa also said that Mr. Hichilema should also consider contesting as a Member of Parliament so that he could learn matters of national governance in parliament.

Mr. Siulapwa observed that the UPND President has also lost his standing in Southern Province after 41 chiefs pledged their support for President Rupiah Banda during this year’s elections.

  1. this siulapwa chap is a drunk and confused..HH..you are the next presido..we need real change for the better not what we have..old men will have to retire ..

  2. New political party formed

A new political party has been formed ahead of the general elections scheduled for later this year.
The new political party is the third new party in a space of six months just before the general elections.
The other new parties are the ADEDO ZAMUCANO for Brown Kapita, a Zambian based in Neatherlands.
The other party is the National movement for progress for former Finance Minister, Ng’andu Magande.
The new political party called People of This Way has been formed by a Lusaka businessman, Bernard Mumba, who also says the party symbol is the bible.

  3. Magande confirms his presidential polls candidature
Former Finance and National Planning Minister, Ng’andu Magande says he will contest in the Presidential elections set for this year.
Mr Magande will contest under his newly founded National Movement for Progress Party.
The party’s National Coordinating Chairperson Dube Tembo has confirmed the adoption of Mr Magande, who is the party interim president, as well as his candidature.
Mr. Tembo has further revealed that the National Movement for Progress Party will also field candidates in all constituencies for the parliamentary elections.
Meanwhile, Mr Tembo has ruled out the party’s possibility of fielding candidates in local government elections.

  4. Its still the same thing wheather HH withdraws or not,a vote for HH is a vote RB.HH and RB have already agreed on a coalition government.lets wait and see.

  5. I know I would have loved HH and UPND to partner with RB and MMD as long as he was assured of the post of republican vice president for the next five years but for Siulapwa to call for him not to contest the presidential elections because he was ”wasting his resources” is disrespecful to HH. HH is a big player in the politics of this country and he should be shown such respect by political leaders who cannot even win a vote from their family members such as Siulapwa and not be ridiculed by such characters. Even if he withdrew from the race we will still see nontities like Miyanda, Magande, Milupi Chipimo still run because they can find a K10m to spare. MMD must disassociate themselves from such derogatory remarks otherwise they may lose HH’s supporters who want to ‘vote to…

  6. A vote for Sata is a vote for the same thugs who have been stealing under Chiluba’s MMD. Remember RB started working with Chiluba as a way of neutralising Sata’s influence. So what change do you expect from someone who was eating and stealing with Chiluba. Real change requires change of gear, a generational change and HH is the answer. Siulapwa, find out the true reaction of the chiefs in Southern province and tell your boss RB the truth. HH is a major factor in these elections and nothing, absolutely nothing will stop him from standing. Even if he loses at least he will contribute to a balance parliament and a level political playing field.

  7. Zed Patriot – This discussion is about HH not standing but instead working with MMD, not about Sata. How come you are so obsessed and talk about Sata under this blog. Let us try to keep to the subject at hand please

  8. Even though Mr. Siulapwa’s intentions are questionable, the best advice he gave HH was for him to stand as member of parliament and develop some political and governing experience. As things stand, HH has none whatsoever and raises doubts as to whether he would be able effectively run the country. So far, electing leaders with no prior political or governing experience has been detrimental to Zambia’s development, we need to do things differently.

  9. It makes sense like this,
Siulapwa arguing with HH, for small parties category and their supporters amongest themselves.
Rupiah with Sata, for the heavy weight category and MMD supporter should debate against their PF counterpats.
So I’ll not interfer or comment on this dispute between Siulapwa and HH because we have to give chance to their supporter to do so.

  10. Ichi Nyamu Nyamu (PF Kaponya olo wateva)

That remark is in response to blogger #6 cletus. In no way am I obsessed with Sata, he is not the type of politician I like. I never worry about him because I know for sure he will not win. My campaign is to make sure PF cadres do not trick UPND supporters in switching their votes to PF. We want to achieve a true reflection of each party’s strengh after the elections so that we settle the debate of which party is more popular. We do not want a situation were PF and MMD use their vuvuzelas to cheat UPND supporters into tactfully voting for them like they did in the last elections. This is deception of the highest order and we shall fight it head on.

  11. Siulapwa you sound like you don’t belong to the body of modern knowledge. With this kind of thinking I see you supporting the Likes of Sata should your interests in RB be thwarted. What I expected to hear from you is that you are joining hands with HH to outdo the old madalas that have reached political age menopause. Their insistence on power hold has resulted to political constipation to the youths and asymptomatic of your ranting. You are stuck because some1 up doesn’t want to move. Bembas say ‘mayo mpapa naine nkakupapa’. Siulapwa you should immediately consider quitting politics coz your stomach is begging for RB handouts but alas you are a mess to the youths. With this kind of behavior you cannot even manage a Ministry

  12. We need a man who should champion the use of pubic funds in a more transparent manner. We need a man to address corruption and abuse of office, inspire Zambians to run Business and create Jobs.who is this man? personally Mr Sata is the right man

  13. Zambian politics are politics of hunger not really of service. People have really realised that joining politics is the only easy way to fill the stomach. Why should we have so many political parties when the zambia population is so small. Donot be surprised very soon the number of political parties will outnumber the registered voters.

  14. The ealier HH gets that advise the better, why waste money when you know deep down your heart that you cant win HH. Swallow your pride and stand as an MP let this years’ elections be between the two SATA and RB but all the same its only that we donot want Sata to stand with a frog thats why RB has to stand because even RB knows that SATA is winning this year. VIVA SATA PABWATOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  15. VIVA HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHh

  16. On
Reacting to a call made by the New Generation Party (NGP) President Humphrey Siulapwa for him to not take party in the presidential race, Mr Hichilema said that Mr Siulappwa was entitled to make his comments as Zambia is a democracy where people are free to express their views
it is nice that the president HH has responded to Siulapwa (a finishing chap) in a good manner but Siulapwa is just a Zambian politics broom used by MMD to sweep through areas that President RB Banda is yet to campaign in for himself according to UPND deputy spokesperson Cornelius Mweetwa.

I hope this position of Siulapwa as a politics broom for M will help him continue earning a living since he seems to be ill-qualified to get a job and earn a living by himself.

  17. A total waste of cash. The brother knows he can’t win. He has had a coupla attempts before. Unlike the other two fellows, his political fortunes appear remote.

  18. HH is sending shivers in these recycled political masterminders, they know that the young man has made progress and is headed for victory, his strategy is not a match for many as his real change messege is spreading like fire. Siulapwa is a failure and he thinks HH is like him, no. RB was pleading the Southern Chiefs to advise HH to make a pact with MMD and now they are sending the cheap Siulapwa to move their agenda, honestly HH has 27 MPS, how can you withdraw from presidential race with such a huge following, I think Siupapwa must be dreaming. Sata has now has 25 MPS after the 22 left him and HH has 27, so in short HH is more popular than Sata and is second to MMD. These recycled have failed the young man as he is not cheap like the Siulapwas and James Lukukus who can be used.

  19. Zambia will always be poor as long as we keep retaining the same people who have failed us to rule us and protect each other on economic plunder. Not until we put one who is neutral the results for corruption fight will never be seen. Mwanawasa could not fight it fullly because the money which was used to campaign for him was corrupt from zamtrop, Banda cannot also fight it as the people who campaigned for him like Katele etc are the same corrupt one who need protection, Sata also will not fight corruption as all those economic plunders are his friends and he was part of the team which plundered our economy, and as he promised in 2006 he will just protect them. So if we keep keeping the same people who plundered our economy we will never get anywhere.

  20. Mr Hichilema should not even waste his time to respond to Siulapwa chap who is sponsored by MMD to destruct attention of our people who have made decision to give HH and UPND victory. This scheme by MMD to use small parties to discredit  HH and UPND will not work time is up for MMD to retire this year.

  21. To begin with Siulapwa is one misguided luny. History has it that even when somebody knows for sure they are loosing they still contest. HH is a smart young man who would NEVER win the forth coming elections unfortunately. The race is between Sata and Banda. Zambians should not allow thieves like the likes of the MMD to continue. The qstn is, whats the alternative? Vote wisely and don’t allow another $100 million theft in arms deal by Banda. Just like Chiluba stole $60 million in a fake arms deal. Birds of the same feather… wake up Zambia…..

  22. No amount of lies by frustrated Mpombo will distruct us. Why did it take almost a year to reveal that. Was he hoping to be forgiven of his offences if he held to a little cheap secret. NO let the law catch up with him. Those beards will turn blue in Proson

  23. I thought HH would first respond to his chiefs’ demands that he works with RB n the MMD b4 doing so to small kids like Danny Kaya’s dependant siulapwa. Is HH now trying to show us his true level in politics? for him to choose to answer to siulapwa instead of the more important demands frm his chiefs clearly shows lack of priority in terms of pipo’s expectations on the issue. Mayb we take it siulapwa is his level.

  24. THIS IS REALLY HEALTHY FOR OUR DEMOCRACY TO SEE HOW THESE UNDERFIVE PANKS CAN BE ATTACKING EACH OTHER.

  25. P.F CADRES HAVE SMALL BRAINS IF THEY THINK SATA IS A CHANGE FOR ZAMBIA

WHICH COUNCIL IN ZAMBIA UNDER P.F HAS NICE ROADS AND SEWERAGE AND HAPPY RATE PAYERS?……………Not in Lusaka where international guests see filth everywhere

  26. UPND is the only choice for educated people who know Zambia will not change until the OLDER generation is removed and the Youth gain power.

ZAMBIA cannot be run by the same people from 20 years ago….A new team is needed

MMD HAS FAILED AND P.F Councils are a mess and audits are needed now.

  27. No 30 DONT VOTE FOR SATA your anus or pussy (whichever is itching)! Do worry about PF! We are in the boat and are going to hit you hard! And the harder they come, the harder they will fall- RB, HH, Gen M, Mrs. N, Son of KK, all of them, we are waiting for them! They won’t know what hit them on Election Day! We need a government which will all the people together- PF, MMD, UPND, UNIP that’s why PF is coming on hard. Your mum and dad will be proud of you for changing to VOTE FOR SATA! Wake up and smell the coffee!

  28. It is now written everywhere for those with eyes that PF is winning. For the blind, continue day dreaming and you will be ashamed when President SATA raises a bible very soon before your very eyes. We will all celebrate with PF, Viva SATA , Viva PF, while you will be pinching your yourself to wake up from the slumber. If you have real eyes open them and start looking. The Boat is loading those ready for change. In the bible only those who were carried away perished because they could not notice change. All support and signs of a winning party are now on PF, why then are you still arguing?

Continue living in the dark while the enlightened are happily preparing themselve3s to the day of joy. Viva change, Viva progressive people, viva PF for work well done.

    We are on uhuru…

  29. PF should never be given any chance to rule this country never.Siulapwa must not antagonise HH,NO.MMD need HH and VICE VERSA.this year MMD will make government for the next 5yrs but they need to work with the UPND to completetly finish the party for homosexuals and ba kaponya.a coalition government between mmd and upnd is vital.Siulapwa be sober.MMD Nafuti nafuti.Ba willie Nsanda mwalipwa dont ever show your agree dick in chimwemwe

  30. mr. Siulapwa, why do U talk of other people.Talk of what u will do forus. Leave HH alone Pliz. We are tired of seeing U talking Nonsense.

  31. H.H keep visiting all areas as your team is doing now…..Don’t stop and listen to paid comments on government newspapers.

Meeting with the people face to face is the best way to hear their wishes….people want to meet with you from all over Zambia.

THEY ARE SICK OF RECYCLED POLITICIANS!

  32. All those supporting Sata shock me. How can you sink so low by declaring to vote for that man. I wish you knew the real him. He is not different from Mugabe. I cant say things through the media. I can only give you the homework of checking his private and family life + history and have yourselves to judge him. Yes he served well as Minister because he was under someones authority. Just wait and give him power and you will pay dearly for the rest of your life. Whatever happens if he wins as president you will definitely rememeber my words but it will be too late. We shall continue to swim in poverty while sitting on wealth.

  33. I felt sorry for HH yestarday at some motel where The man was addressing a public meeting and poeple were just busy scrambling for food and drinks, You chaps from UPND advise your leader properly or-else you will destroy the young man’s promising political future.

  34. Go HH why do people who think they are popular keep on talking about you if you were not a factor to them? Everybody wants HH …SATA cant believe that the PACT IS GONE.MMD think they can merge with HH ..now even bootleakers like siulapwa cant even count 3 people who are in his party is making noise/.. WE SHALL VOTE FOR HH TO WIN…no one plays to lose anyway…VIVA HH.

  35. any way he has rights as Zambian to stand as president and is rich. He only has 30% chance of winning.

  36. This calculator boy is full of himself and this is the type of stubborness that will make him fail to get the presidency for decades to come

  37. How the hell siulapwa gets news time is a mystery to me.he is a president of a party that hasnt even got a seat in any coucil.no councillor. And now he can give advise to HH with almost a fifth of the seats in parliament!

  38. debate on Policy and development rather than insulting each. trade your party programmes and convince people why your candidate is suitable for the institution of pressident. While doing so do not demean other peoples constitutional right to belong to the party of their choice. We should also respect other peoples opinion even when we show disagreements. It is also important to avoid attacking each other on account of tribe.
…..AS FOR SIULAPWA HE CAN ONLY CHEAT THOSE WHO DO NOT KNOW HIM……WE KNOW HIM FROM KABULONGA BOYS AS SCHOOL MATE….AND AS PERSON WHO SPENT MOST OF TIME BEGGING FOR BEERS AT FAIRVIEW HOTEL…..PEOPLE GAVE HIM A NAME AS PAUL KAGAME…MEANING PRESIDENT OF RWANDA…..ALWAYS BEGGING,……SO DOING THE SAME FROM MMD

  39. @zed patriot. You are so right about us needing a balance in parliament whoever wins.and youare so right that that will only happen if upnd puts in a good showin by avoiding been swallowed up by mmd or as it did by leaving the pact pf.If he is to lose this time around HH has to put himself in firm footing to mount a successful campaign in 2016,when alot of pipo who are leaning towards sata like me will be more than willing to give HH their vote. But it all depends on him not making ahuge mistake this election.

  40. @political think tank. Thanks for confriming what I always believed, that this clown has been a clown all his life…

  41. WHO IS NOT RE-CYCLED? RB, SATA, HH? ALL OF US ARE DEPENDING ON THE CLASSIFICATION USED. IF WE CLASSIFY USING PRIVATIZATION SATA AND HH ARE ALL RE-CYCLED BECAUSE SATA WAS COLLECTIVELY RESPONSIBLE FOR MMD’S GOOD PRIVATIZATION POLICY THOUGH NOT PROPERLY IMPLEMENTED BY HH WHEN HE WAS APPOINTED TO LIQUIDATE MOST OF OUR PARASTALS. IN FACT HH MADE A FORTUNE OUT OF IT AT THE EXPENSE OF OUR DEPARTED AND DEPRESSED ZAMBIA AIRWAYS, UBZ, RAMCOZ MINERS WHO NEVER GOT THEIR REDUNDANCY PAY. A CLINICAL OFFICER WORKING FOR UTH EVEN IF HE WORKS FOR UTN FOR 20 YEARS CANNOT BE BLOCKED FROM ASPIRING TO BECOME A EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR ON UTH ON GROUNDS THAT HE HAS BEEN WORKING THERE AS THUS “RE-CYCLED”. CAN YOU BLAME HIM FOR THE SHORTCOMINGS AT UTH WHEN HE HAS NEVER LEAD THE HOSPITAL

  42. Just a quick one, which is the largest party in zambia today between PF and UPND? PF in 2006 had 43 MPs today they have 21 (22 rebels have been expelled) UPND had 26 MPs in 2006 and today they have 29 MPs (they won 3 seats from the ruling MMD, Chilanga, Solwezi Central & Mufumbwe). can someone also tell me which party has grown and which one has declined? finally can someone explain to me why MMD & PF all want an alliance with UPND? my own guess is that UPND has the winning formulae in this election. Western, N/Western, Central and Southern.

  43. Ya! Ba PF, you dont stop dreaming. Wake up guys, HH has a democratic right to contest.Just campaign and stop attacking a noble man like HH.He owes you nothing.

I dont care if he gets three votes, one from his wife , his own vote and one from me.All I know is that I will have voted for the best man. Its democracy !! Just go and campaign for your Satan who has nothing to offer, let alone his desire to go to state house.
Same people through and through and you expect change? Nothing can change sata, even the heart attack failed.

  44. What is your reason for voting? Is it to make your prefered candidate win?
Well, my reason for voting is to try and choose who I think is the best candidate. I know my one vote cant make someone win. If you vote in order to make someone win, what happens if your candidate lose the election? Please, evaluate all the candidates and cast your vote for the best, one who can deliver. Dont vote for a popular candidate, but one you percieve to be the best.If I want to vote for Sata, it must be with conviction that he can deliver all of us from the jaws of poverty, and not because he is popular. Popularity is not what can bring food on your table.
If my candidate loses, its democracy but I will have exercised my democratic right to vote.VOTE WISELY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  45. People who thinks that PF is an illusion should wake up from their dreamy perception. Equally people who think that PF are Kaponyas and uneducated should re-examine thier thinking. Who are Kaponyas and why are they bad people? Half of your relatives now either sell in market stalls or on the streets to make ends meet mostly because corruption has empoverished our country, and now you turn around to shun these people. Kaponya is just a derogatory term used to discredit and look down on our fellow Zambians who are doing various businessess to make ends meet. Be reasonable in your judgement!

  46. Am MMD and honestly, if we were to hand over power, it can only be to UPND. The are civilised and theire president is young and inelligent. Removing a 76 years old and replacing him with another 74 years old is not change at all. If you people want to change government, bring credible leaders like HH, not this grade five fellow Sata.

  47. Dezo # 59, PF is associated with the Kaponyaz who who dont even know why they are voting.
One day, I was having my car washed in chachacha rd and a discussion started between the two kaponyaz. ” Tulefwaya ba Shikulu nabo batekeko kabili balwisha sana. Nangu ninfwa ikabasenge fye mu State house nabo tukabshike palya apalala Levy,’ dont kubeba!!!!

Are you sure these people know why they have to vote? Such is the mentality people relate PF to kaponyas, not people like you sir.

  48. @politics of benefit..I understand your setiments. But its not a change of the age of the president that pipo seek. Its a change in the whole way a government operates.Pipo want a government that will put the pipo and their needs first before those of foreign interests.Sata has simplified his message to that. There is not much in terms of policies that those that follow Sata see in him except that theybelieve he will be their man in state house.HH has to do the same.simplify and connect with the kaponya.after all with the massive unemployment and poverty in zambia, they make the majority and outnumber the intelligencia by far.

  49. No.61 – you clearly don’t understand democracy! I totally agree with Dezo – I tired of the rhetoric from Zambians who think they are “better” than the Zambian next too them because they had opportunities others didnt. Because someone is selling on Freedomway does not make him less intelligent than you – they are just less fortunate.

On another note some of the men standing for presidency are seriously delusional

  50. BA HH IMWE NAMUPWA, FORGET ABOUT BECOMING PRESIDENT, AT LEAST IN THE COMING TWO GENERATIONS…..YOU ARE FINISHED….YOU THINK WE DON’T KNOW YOUR DOUBLE DEALING ANTICS????….JUST A MONTH OR TWO AGO YOU WERE IN THE PACT, AT THE SAME TIME COURTING THE MMD, AND BY THE GRACE OF GOD YOU WERE EXPOSED BY THE SAME PEOPLE YOU WERE COURTING…….ABANTU NABAMISULA, THAT’S THE MORE REASON WHY PRINCIPLED UPND MEMBERS ARE LEAVING YOUR PARTY EN MASSE TO JOIN THE CHI BWATO!!!!!!!!!!BYE , BYE POLIO……NEXT MONTH WE ARE ENTERING YOUR ‘MASTER BEDROOM’ IN SOUTHERN PROVINCE TO CAUSE HARVOC TO YOUR PARTY…………

  51. Donchi whatever # 64, HH never courted mmd. They tried to court him. HH does not depend on politics, he can do without being president. HH is not your enemy, his intentions are just to serve all the people of Zambia, including most of you chaps on the street. But if you cant see that, the guy is a noble man and can do without politics. He does not need a loan from Taiwan or the gay world. Just one piece of advice, ‘ what will you do if Sata loses the election? In any case, I can bet my life, Sata will never be president of this country. I wonder what else he would do without politics. No grade four at State house!!!!!!

  52. #62, at least you are one of the few PF guys who are polite. At least we can reason here. My sentiments are based on the reason for voting. Are the people like the ones I mentioned doing it for theselves or for Sata? To me, Zambia is bigger that one life of Sata. By the way, I voted for him in 2006, but now I think its time we changed, remove the old recycled politicians.

As a human being I have nothing against Sata, unlike you pf guys who just hate HH. If you ask Sata himself, he will tell you that he found a noble guy in HH.

Are you aware that these politicians speak in the night, yet you and I are busy bloging insulting and the rest?

  53. Mafia lady, you have missed my point dear lady. look at the reason those guys gave. Its the reasoning I meant. Yes its democracy but if you cant educate those who need to be, they can lead the whole nation into a ditch coz of not knowing why they need to vote. To me, those guys just want Sata, regardless of what comes with him. In any case, they would even vote for his dead body ( God forbid). The concept my dear lady is what am talking about here. I dont look down on them, after all I have a brother on the street. You should have a reason to do something. To them, ati nabo batekeko”. Just like that? Hell no!!! Try to teach them to give reasonable grounds please

  54. # 65 – POLITICS OF BENEFITS ………….YOUR NAME EXPOSES YOU FOR WHAT YOU ARE …..A FAKE POLITICIAN WHO IS OUT LOOKING FOR A LEAVING IN POLITICS….MY FRIEND POLITICS IS A SERVICE,….IF YOU DREAM ABOUT BENEFITS THEN LOOK FOR A PENSIONABLE JOB, WORK FOR 30 YEARS AND CLAIM YOUR BENEFITS FROM NAPSA…….NOT IN POLITICS….AS FOR HH,… THE MAN IS IMPATIENT WITH HIS AMBITIONS……FROM THE BLUES HE WANTS TO BE PRESIDENT?…..NO, NO,NO, NO,NO……ACHILILE ABAKULU BAMA POLITICS BA SATA?….NO WONDER GOD CAN’T ALLOW IT……NI BYE, BYE POLIO…..LET HIM GO BACK TO HIS SO CALLED BOARD ROOM TO DRING MINERAL WATER…HE HAS FAILED IN POLITICS….BYE, BYE POLIO…….
