Former United Party for National Development official Colonel Panji Kaunda has denied allegations that he is going round the country campaigning for Patriotic Front Leader Micheal Sata.
Col Kaunda,who was expelled from the UPND for openly declaring his support for Mr.Sata has since formed the People’s PACT,a movement that is going round the country collecting people’s endorsement over their Presidential preference among the two opposition leaders,Sata and Hakainde Hichilema.
Col Kaunda says the people’s PACT was formed with a sole purpose of democratically removing the MMD from power using a collective decision, adding that
the movement is a replacement of the UPND-PF PACT which has since collapsed.
“After the collapse of the PACT,we thought we should go to the people themselves to find out which candidate people themselves want based on the popularity since their leaders have failed to agree ..so that was how we formed this coalition”, Col Kaunda said after the launch of the movement in Livingstone on Saturday.
Col.Kaunda,who is now the interim Chairperson of the Peopls’s PACT says people should not misunderstand the motive of the movement to be a campaign vehicle for SATA despite him having endorsed the PF Leader ahead of the forthcoming election polls.
After making the declaration in favour of Sata,the UPND immediately announced Col.Kaunda’s expulsion from the Party.
“That was my opinion,I was asked as a politician ‘who do you think can win these elections between Sata and HH’ my answer was Sata because he is more popular and I was expelled from the Party but this movement has nothing to do with that, it is purely a pressure group to remove the ruling Party from power,”he said.
Col.Kaunda,who however has maintained that even though he has been expelled from the UPND,he is ready to work with any members of the opposition whose goal is to remove the ruling Party from Government.
Meanwhile a co-opted member of the People’s PACT,Francis Muchiba,who is also former United National Independence Party(UNIP)District Chairman for Livingstone says the MMD Government should be removed from power because it has failed to deliver.
Mr.Muchiba pointed out a number of parastatal companies in Livingstone that have collapsed as a justification of the failures.
“Look, since we need to remove this Government in power, what we are saying is let us put someone not necessarily a perfect leader but someone who we will give conditions that opens the doors for us,it might be Sata,it might be Hakainde but the idea is they open the door for us ,”
The Launch that was held at Villa Grounds in the vicinity of Livingstone’s largest township Dambwa was fairly attended with notably only one member of the UPND seated at the high table.
Soon panji will form/announce people’s pact as his political party.

New political party formed
A new political party has been formed ahead of the general elections scheduled for later this year.
The new political party is the third new party in a space of six months just before the general elections.
The other new parties are the ADEDO ZAMUCANO for Brown Kapita, a Zambian based in Neatherlands.
The other party is the National movement for progress for former Finance Minister, Ng’andu Magande.
The new political party called People of This Way has been formed by a Lusaka businessman, Bernard Mumba, who also says the party symbol is the bible.
Magande confirms his presidential polls candidature
Former Finance and National Planning Minister, Ng’andu Magande says he will contest in the Presidential elections set for this year.
Mr Magande will contest under his newly founded National Movement for Progress Party.
The party’s National Coordinating Chairperson Dube Tembo has confirmed the adoption of Mr Magande, who is the party interim president, as well as his candidature.
Mr. Tembo has further revealed that the National Movement for Progress Party will also field candidates in all constituencies for the parliamentary elections.
Meanwhile, Mr Tembo has ruled out the party’s possibility of fielding candidates in local government elections.
Confusion at its best. What is he saying? He is just shoewing us why he did not make success of his father’s success. And he is still failing…..
What peoples pact, no wonder only PF acdres attended! We will vote tactfully to produce a balanced parliament were no single party can dictate issues without consulting others. More chiefs in Southern province have distanced themselves from the Royal Foundation of Zambia Southern province chapter’s declaration of support for President Rupiah Banda’s candidature in this year’s general election.
In an interview with the Watchdog Monday, chief Haamusonde of Monze West said it is misleading for chief Mukuni to announce a binding declaration without support from other traditional leaders.
“As chiefs we didn’t agree or endorse President Rupiah Banda for presidency in that meeting which was held in Mazabuka, I can’t remember endorsing him for this year’s election. Whatever Peoples Pact this Panji boy is talking about will not work
In the copperbelt, the UPND support has started going towards MMD. They know that HH is better working with RB. I for one as UPND follower support this move, which will stop SATA from having any chance.
In Southern province, MMD has a chance to gain more votes. It also appears most Chiefs are now sending directives to the Village Headmen influence voters stop Sata from getting Plot One.
HH is seriously thinking about this. He does not want to differ with the Chiefs in his native area. HH knows that he cannot win it alone, but at the same time does want to wake the day after the elections and find Sata in State House. For that, he is willing to allow RB go all the way to 2016. This is not about selling out. This is a tactical way of stopping Sata.
It does not matter what Panji, Sata, Nawawiki, The Catholic Bishops says.

I apologise for my offensive language to you. I was responding to your post on 48 which I believe is wild. To say we have no roads, schools and hospitals, that we are a failed state I think you must be on a different planet where Zambia is the equivalent of Somalia. On percentages I still stand by my posting that Sata will not improve from 10%, 5% & 4% he got from WP, SP & NWP while RB will get 30% from SP up from 21% and maintain his popularity in WP & NWP of 68% and 64% if not increase it. By the way my salary is meagre but I am still able to see what my govt is doing where they still need to improve. It is no reason for me to vote for political jokers like Sata.

There is not point in trying to hide this fact… they are not talking up anyone else apart from Sata so i dont see how they think they are actually asking the people… to make matters worse how can it work out when all the members actually have affiliation to 1 single party and you call it peoples pact.

i want to disagree with you, the membership of this People’s Pact forum does not only comprise of only PF members because there are many other members who are not PF, for example, Im a UPND memder,but Im also member of this forum and I believe strongly that with the collapse of the UPND/PF pact which seemed to have been offering the people some kind of hope, a movement like this one is important in bringing the people together regardless of political affilliation or tribe so that they can vote with a common purpose to deliver the real change the people are aspiring for. it is not right to choot this noble cause down simply because to dont like the person promoting it.
Ba Panji, we should have called it the “Our Pact”, because even the MMD are also people, they are just ugly that is why we think of them otherwise.

MMD is heading for victory in this years election. Just take a moment and listen to SATA’s campaign speech. The man has nothing to show and convince Zambians what he is going to do. RB has achieved a lot in just a short period. SATA has now resorted to use the Post Newspaper to try and win sympathy from Zambian people. He has nothing wrong to point at RB government. MMD has achieved and we need to give RB another mandate. I would be happy if RB will work on road infrastructure when he assumes another mandate this year (a must of course). Look at investment he has brought in this country. Of course other critics will say such projects were started by Mwanawasa. But Mwanawasa was MMD and RB is till MMD. So really credit should go to MMD and the one in the driving seat who is in this case…

In North Western Province, The government has made in roads. Lets all keep an open eye on what is happening on the ground and not just stick with negative vibes
1. Kalumbila Mine is about to be commissioned which will make North Western Province to be the Largest Copper Producer in Zambia
2. $125 Million from Saudi Arabia will be invested into Pineapple Plantation and Drink Processing Industries for local and international exports. This will have a major economical boots to all small scales business in the area. RB lured this project after making a trip to Saudi Arabia last year.
3. K11 Billion has been allocated to upgrade Solwezi General Hospital

4. Schools are being upgraded and new one are being constructed in N/Western
5. All Districts in North Western Province have been allocated Billions of Kwacha’s to redevelop and expand the Health Centre.
6. ZCCM will put up a modern Shopping Mall in Solwezi

8. Egyptians will also invest in North Western Province into Cotton & Food Production as part of the US $5 Billion Dollar to be invested from the 30 Team that visited Zamabia.

The developemnts cannot just pop up overnight. RB has managed secure these developemnt programs in 2 years compared to the 27 years by Kaunda and 10 by Chiluba & Sata – did for Western Province

The truth is that the PF/UPND pact was conceived on the strength of a combined membership. The plot was to use UPND as a HORSE and Sata alone as RIDER to get the Republican Presidency. HH and other senior members of PF were to be rendered irrelevant after the 2011 elections. This assertion is based on PF’s failure to hold a Convention for fear of a democratic process that could eliminate Sata and usher-in youthful leaders (Machungwa & Co). Panji’s wish for a pact with PF has no merit because he has no followers to add value to Sata’s dream. Panji’s aim is merely to frustrate RB who is being supported by Chiluba whose regime is perceived to have assassinated Wezi. Yet Sata was the Chief Plotter of most evils during Chiluba’s 3rd Term bid. Panji is mentally sick.
Ladies and gentlemen, learned men and women of mother Zambia, I enjoy reading your political analysis, but at times, I am left to wonder. How can you support a person who says the objective of forming the People’s Pact is to REMOVE MMD. We’re not fighting for independence. Someone has to tell Col. As for ba Sata, some of the people (may be the majority) don’t realize that he has been a politician even before they were born what change are they expecting. Remember at one point Sata was a minister without portfolio – This privileged position made him a co-president with Chiluba. Sata trained Chiluba to be what he eventually became. Zambians must look for leaders, “Servant Leaders” who will lead the nation to the prosperity most needed. Change for its sake is ridiculous!
