Aspiring PF parliamentary candidate Davies Kapijimpanga said in Solwezi that he was very disappointed with the level of underdevelopment in the North Western Province despite the province having one of the biggest copper mines in the world ( Lumwana Mine ) and Kansanshi Mine. He said there should have been industries developing in tandem with the mines to produce spares etc for the mines. He said there wasn’t even a single industry producing bolts and the mines have to import nearly all their requirements from outside the country.
He added that the mining investors were reaping huge profits and living in luxury whilst the majority of the people of North Western Province still wallow in poverty.
Meanwhile copper prices rose for a third straight week last week. The prices for the three-month copper on the London Metal Exchange (LME) rose 0.7 per cent to US$9,720 a tonne while the most-active September copper contract on the Shanghai Futures Exchange jumped nearly 1.9 per cent to 72,460 Yuan per tonne.
now this is news ! not just campaigning for the outgoing President (RB) all the time. Davies Kapijimpanga is 100% correct, this mmd grz always talks about development which us people can,t see/feel. Zambians are no longer interested in “development ” which is just on paper.
Davis Kapijimpanga is just a useless failure in life. Not amusing that he has opted yet again to embarrass himself in Northwestern on Poor Finishers’ Party. Other than being fooled by his old wife Kapijimpanga, the boy has failed in everything in basic human life.Failed on secondary education, failed on a simple job in the then UNIP company they brought down through theft and failing in his own marriage. what development does he understand and can deliver there?
A failure its you Senior Chifi or your parents!!! I
I cant believe the clout of MPs that PF is attracting! Davies Kapijimpanga, Patrick Mwanawasa Jr, are we short of credible people, even in PF? Come on… Senior citizen you are making a lot of sense to me nowadays….not before!
in fact mmd has just been telling people about development when people themselves cant see and feel. this is exactly what chieftainess Nkomesha saie earlier in the year. everywhere you go in the country, you see nothing but abject poverty. Developent is that which must be translated in people’s lively hood not on znbc news
The issue of north werstern is very alarming, the province produces close to 42 percent of GDP but look at the state of the road which leads there.Even the investors themselves no longer trust MMD grz with money for fear of misuse hence the initiative for them to repair the road themselves.this is embarrassing. MMD kuya bebele
I was at Solwezi tech in the late 80’s and Davy was following us behind. This boy to say the least failled lamentably at grade 12 and has done nothing in his while entire life. He comes from the Kapinjimpangas family but honestly if this is the level of leaders our country is aspiring to bring to powaer , am really disappointed.
We cant afford to have MPs who can hardly speak correct english. Whats up mother Zambia. You man there are no credible people in Zambia to represent us in Parliament?
The only failure i can see here is u becoz u ve failed to see sense in davies said only bcoz he is speaking from the opposition. Unless u ve never been to NWP then u can seat confortably wherever u r n say that rubbish abt a person who is bringing real issues to the fore. If u r not ready 4 change, never stand in the way of it.
Jojo (JM),
I’m glad you know Davis too. I have known this boy from the 80s. He is a lamentable failure in life to a point that he cannot communicate anything sensible even on basic matters. meet him he talks of big deals but its all hot air. It would be interesting to follow his drivel on the campaign trail. NorthWestern province has been under development from inception and in just 2 years RB has created momentum for transformation. You cannot expect a miracle within 2 years. This is why the 90 days drivel is only for Kaponyas going to Afghanistan.
senior citizens do you have heart for your country it seems you just surpport without knowning what is on the ground as long it expose the govt you defend. unless you are a son of RB because i hear has many children marriage. Please Talk about the life people are experiencing not just attacking whoever say what seems against the govt.
I feel sorry for this guy – imagine representing a party whose leader called your own people ‘buttocks’, and expects the people to vote for him. Good luck!
Is this a guy who wants to be an MP? Does he want the government to go and produce nuts and bolts for the mines in NW? What shallow thinking. Why can he not form a company himself and start producing the bolts and nuts?
I now know what the PF manifesto is about… government must produce nuts and bolts for the mines.
# 6 Senior Citizen
People change with time. And the poverty seen in NW is not only there it is country wide and what has MMD done in 20 yrs ? What has MMD done with our multibillion dollar presious stone industry ? They have no idea. even lusakas cairo road has no street lights which MMD GRZ have failed to fix in 20 yrs of being in power. This fake development boom on borrowed cash manee is nothing but fake. If this was real development how come we still have 80 % unemployment with the majority of those employed are 20 pin/day unskilled and 3/4ers of our graduates jobless, yet we have so many foreinge expats ?. MMD have been in power for 20 yrs yet in shops like shopright 99.9% of goods are made in SA.
We know about the banda boys dealings and all will be revealed soon
Lumwana MFEZ will be operational soon and you’ll see the different companies manufacture nuts and bolts to name a few. Development is a process. You cant just expect a mine and boom, industries start popping up left right and centre. It takes some time and planning. Risk assessments have to be done, financing has to be secured…etc. It cant just happen in 90 days.
Copperbelt University senior lecturer Davidson Chilipamushi has said politicians and other interest groups should differentiate reality from fiction when analysing Zambia’s attainment of the middle-income status because it is true the country’s per capita income had increased.
Mr Chilipamushi, who is an economist, said in an interview in Kitwe yesterday there was no time to debate as to whether the country’s achievement was real or not because the factors pointing to the achievement were there for every citizen to see.
“We cannot argue that annual income for each member of the population is increasing as evidenced by some individual investments. We have seen people building houses and buying cars, that is sign of growth,” Mr Chilipamushi said.
Guys, lets be resonable in the way we want to make comments instead of making noise. The fact is people are living in poverty and our country is one of the world’s producer of copper.let’s not behave like politicians who don’t care about the well being of people.
That’s why this province like the rest of the country needs the dynamic action oriented go-getter president, MCS. You don’t want a laidback, unclever, lazy drifter who lamentably failed to manage a small company (NAMBOARD). He was so incompetent that the former president KK, who was also equally incapable of any meaningful development fired him many times.
PF top leadership was in Chiluba govt for 10 years at top level. What di they do for the country??
You might say they were not in the driving seat, fine, but did they not approve of what the one on the driving seat did? did SATA support what was happening then?
In fact I will remind you that SATA campaigned for ‘Third Term’ stating that Chiluba was the only person capable of leading Zambia. Now if SATA knew he was capable of leading Zambia why did he rule himself out??
Why does Sata change positions so fast on almost all issues??
Is this SATA, the person who people think can bring better this for Zed?? You are joking!!!
Senior Citizen & Jojo (JM). Is Davies Kapijimpanga not telling the truth? He may have been dull at school but surely he is telling as it is. Are you insinuating that all Zambians who have not done well at schools should should not have a say in the running of our economy? I know alot of MMD Ministers who were not that bright at school but today are managing our affairs. The debate is about how the investors brought in by YOU learned guys have FAILED to uplift the lives of people. You guys are just concerned about the benefits you get from MMD. PEOPLE DO NOT HATE BUT WHAT MMD IS DOING. When we had ZCCM, the Copperbelt was well looked after. We could see the benefits but look at Solwezi. I doubt if you guys have been there.
I don’t see anything wrong with Kapijimpangas observations. Why are some of you chaps so dull or lazy to think that you attack the person instead of the issues he is trying to raise. We shall never develope if this is the type of reasoning zambians have.
WE need to see more developement in the copperbelt and northwestern province.WE need to to see good roads, good railway systems, manufacturing companies , good service delivery to the people.good schools and hospitals. Not the crap that is currently there.

LT you ought to delete comment number #19. We are suppose to debate sensibly and not use such vulgar language. If you have a limited vocabulary as our colleague in #19 stick to just staying at Kulima Tower and shouting the same thing over and over than come online when you don’t have a vocabulary to articulate issues without using low life words
I wish to conquer with #18,it has become the habit of mmd cadres like Snr Citizen,to attack the source instead of discussing the issue at hand.Ba Snr Citizen,we all know who you are, after reading news for ZNBC and licking the mmd’s balls for so long, rbish gave you a ka position at the Zambian Embassy in Washington, now you think you are the most intelligent. We also know how scared you are to lose that ka job because chances of you finding a another job in ZED,with your high levels of boot-licking,are low.For your own info,in a few months time, you will be jobless coz your mmd is definitely on its exit.
#2 Senior Citizen and The Engineer ( Australia)
Mr Engineer don’t just comment for sake of commenting. Are you saying it is normal for these mines to continue looting Zambia and N/W prov in particular without attracting even a single investor to produce some of the things they are using? Let me give you an example, ZCCM attracted many companies which used to import/supply and produce spare parts such as Atlas Copco where Chiluba used to work, KB Davies and many others.
And you Mr senior citizen, be objective, Davies is not saying he has achieved a lot in life, he is simply highlighting some of the weaknesses associated with your GVT. If you know him so what? While Davies is stating facts, you are just bluffing. Shame on you!!!
As long as we have pipo like davies who want employment from Sata will never develop. It is easy to critise but it not simple act. Davies lives in a world were he believes that he can only succeed if he is in gvt. My dear stop dreaming and do someting for yourself. If you failed grdae 12 or form 5, start rewriting and two years from now you can even enrol at a colege or university. Sata is not our mesiah as pipo want us to believe. He also want a job just like you davies. Sata has spend all his life (60 years) on tax payers cash and is lazy if you do not know hiim. Davies, i know that you wife judith was at one time a minister and am sure u used to enjoy free things and now that she`s out, the economy is biting. However, there are a lot of things one can do on earth besides politics.
I hardly know this boy but he’s talking issues here. This are issue based campagn. Well done boy.
#20, Tell Your Senior Citizen to behave and not to be telling lies/ claim to know everyone in Zambia, Enough with you MMD cadres and village behaviour. Just know that your time is up. Respect yourselves if you want people to respect you in the last days of your time in Power.
I pity this family look at them when copper is being shipped daily and their children even wave at the trucks looting our resources. It is unbelievable that this picture comes from a province rich in resources. No wonder ba Chilipamunshi failed as PS he views development in terms of cars. No wonder our universities will be producing students who value cars only. Senior Citizen is rewriting his night school grade seven this year understand him
The level of analysis coming from this PF cadre is truly appalling, this is the reason such people must first aspire for higher education before blindly supporting a Party which does not have a credible economic plan for Zambia. Davies has lived in Lusaka all his life and I wonder if he understands poverty at all. Does this Davies understand macro economics? Does this chap understand foreign direct investment and its benefits?
#26 Ba Counter Balance, Mufunde abanenu MACRO ECONOMICS, Foreign direct Investment? Have you ever achieved that in the foreign land you live in? What do you understand by foreign direct investment & its benefits yourself.
You are the some of us we don’t need in our mother country. Ka P.ip.eni Ab.a.kote than confuse bloggers with terminologies you cannot even spell.
Don’t start fire that you cannot extinguish???
Davies Kapijimpaga should be last the last person to complain of under development in N/Western Province. What has he done on individual level? Davies has not even put up a structure in Solwezi as part of development. He is a resident of Ibex Hill, Lusaka. If he want to stand on PF to contest Solwezi Central then we wish him well but he should not start talking of development coz he does not understand the issues very well. Developing every corner of Zambia is the duty og Govt of the day. Its the govt policies which investors follow notthe current scenariol where grz officials receive kickbacks resulting into being compromised. PF has to be serious with the caliber of MPs for Solwezi Central and West as these areas host the big mines. We dont nid noise makers for MPs but real men.
Who is to open these supporting industries????? Last time i checked Zambians are free to invest in Solwezi! Davies instead of yapping and joining politics, you and yo brothers can open a factory in Solwezi and access incentives from ZDA! Do you want business men from Afghanistan and Taiwan to open industries! U are just in Lusaka eating free food and drinking beer at your mothers place! WHO IS TO OPEN A FACTORY IS IT GRZ OR INDIVIDUALS OR FOREIGNERS???????????????
In fact this chap and his wife Judy are chancers. They ditched MMD coz RB did not appoint Judy to any govt position hence live started becoming un bearable for them and have fold solance in PF. I odnt where Judy is going to stand as an MP. For those that no Davies the chap is full of hot air and boasts of this and that big deal which do not materailse. Let him talk all the sthings he can dream of and he will tire himself. I would have been glad if his uncle Dr. Kapiji now based in North America were to come and contest. Solwezi Central and West need tested men and women to contest as MPs be it PF, UPND or MMD. We need those who can read between the lines not just Kaponyas who want change for the sake of it. We need pipo with developmentaal ideas who can engage govt of the day not hungrymen
# 11, are also suggesting that the 20 years length of MMD in power also include ten years of SATA in the same MMD? correct me.
This is how much MMD is disconnected with society, kali mwitobo.
NWP forget development see the pro GRZ activists Senior Citizen, Australlia and many more those that do not agree with Davies Kapijimpanga.
DAVIES that is POINT hit hard!
If Sata is elected it will be abbracadabra no poverty, disease, and even death after 90 days! Here in the UK am very proud of the fact that I can buy honey produced in NW province in the supermarkets. West Lunga national park is now being touted as one of Africa’s premier bird-watching destinations. If you have eyes you can see the development that is taking place in this and the other Zambian provinces. If one chooses to be negative and buries one’s head in the sand then so be it. Whilst you are waiting for Satan to perform miracles and put food on the table for you and your progeny in perpetuity some of us are cultivating a positive attitude so as to benefit from Zambia being a middle income country.
Ala ni ziiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii……………………………….!!! Donci kubeebaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa………….!!! Viva pa Bwaaaatoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anweba bakolwe bonsetu, am an indigenous youngman from N/W. Please be informed that Lumwana is not there to dish out wealth on silver plater but to alleviate poverty through job creation. Davies is in colonial days of ZCCM and UNIP. N/W Province is a vast province taht can not benefit from this youthful mine called LUMWANA. Let him talk about Kansanshi may be. Only an investor can put up such metal industries. Let him form one industry other than just barking in the backyard. Lumba of UPND will win the seat.
Copper will be finished without any development with the kind of MMD leadership we have. Copper is a wasting asset and the valueof copper will very soon drop once the wars in the Arab world are over. So what will you do after the value of copper is down. The time to act is now. The MMD is happy because they are enjoying while the majority of Zambians are in agony in poverty. KUYA BEBELE.
The devil, or shall we say the real truth is in the details. Davis Kapijimpanga might aspire to be MP of Solwezi central, but he has difficulty with simple mathematics and english. Does Davis know who and how the shareholders of Lumwana procure funding to run the mine? If I was in Davis’s position I would be campaigning that the supply chain of Lumwana mines gives preference to local Zambian companies who in turn should employ locals.
Those who are supporting Davis to stand as MP,do not love our country if its true what other bloggers have mentioned about him. One thing the pro-Davis bloggers should be reminded is that ministers are chosen from the pool of MPs. So with ur grade 5 president @ the helm of govt, it will be situation of a blind man leading a group of other blind men. 47 yrs after independence, we should have enough learned people to represent us in those positions.
It’s being foolish to criticise the truth. You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to see that NW province where zambia’s capital income comes is under developed and no effort is being made by mmd to up grade the lives of it’s people. To be educated doesn,t mean to foolishly deny the facts. Then your education is not worth having, if it only makes some people look stupid. Kapijimpanga Davies doesn,t need to prove any mathematical or scientific phenomen to see that Solwezi/ Chingola road need up grading or patched up. Most of you denouncing this man Davis Kapijimpanga are just fools living in a fools paradise. Being abraod doesn’t mean you are educated, infact the educated don’t even talk about their education but on how well they can help alleviate the problems of the common.
Where are you then the so called educated? For this brave man to stand up for his people is education enough. If you are so educated why don’t you go and stand instead of Davies? It’s because you are foolish and stupid only good at critising your own people. Most of you are have found yourselves abroad not because you did well at school , its because you are mmd cadres you don’t see anything wrong with your pay master mmd. I have just being to solwezi afew weeks ago the man is right. The so called development is only on paper and some mmd cadres pockets not the general citizenry.
(So called senior citizen and jojo) – you exhibit a lot of ignorance or is it just mere callousness towards the suffering of others? Davies raises fundamental issues. Doe is it matter that he has not attained high educational qualifications? You equate qualifications with intelligence and the right to comment on issues. Your qualifications may be as long as your arm, but you may still not have changed anything in your head because you can gain them through all sorts of means. Don’t attack the man personally, assess his contribution. Much of the development in Zambia IS superficial. A govt. is measured by how it protects the vulnerable, socially and economically – not to mention basic health provisions or facilitation and protection from exploitation. Are the resources trickling down?
42 Harold Muna
Well put. A breath of fresh air.
Not sure why we even talk about Senior Citizen. He’s just a disgrantled I’diot and would appreciate we take him as such and not debate what he writes.
Kapinji should tell the people who facilitated for the mine to be there and why the people in N/W have folded their arms waiting for manna from heaven.Just motivate people to see what they can do and be key players in the economic development of their land.Dont politicise straightforward issues.
