Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) says it is ready to host the elections and is today set to announce the date for presidential and parliamentary candidates to file their nomination papers.

ECZ chairperson Ireen Mambilima said in Lusaka yesterday that the electoral body has set the timetable for the commencement of campaigns.

Justice Mambilima told journalists that the ECZ will be objective and professional in conducting the elections as it has done in the past.

“We have set the timetable for the nominations of presidential and parliamentary candidates which will kick-start the campaigns,” Justice Mambilima said.

She said the ECZ wants to complete the nomination process so that the printing of ballot papers can start.

The printing of ballot papers will be conducted in South Africa by Universal Printing group and all political parties should send their party representatives to monitor the printing process.

“The entire process will be transparent and I want to urge all political parties to send credible people to monitor the printing process to avoid unnecessary suspicion,” Justice Mambilima said.

She said election stakeholders should observe the electoral code of conduct to enhance transparency during the poll.

“We are inviting all political parties to send their representatives to monitor the printing of ballot papers. I hope they can send credible people who will not create unnecessary suspicion,” Justice Mambilima said.

  1. Ho ho , here come pure drama now. The nomination date will be Monday and PF (PURE FAILURES) Party is not even ready with a least of candidates after making so much noise about election date. They have the election date and now I hear that want to use printing of ballot papers abroad as the new execuse

  2. WINTER MASEBO should not be included on the list of monitors.the baffoon will just cause unnecessary tension to attract headlines.him and lubinda are too sensational for nothing.

already rupiah and his MMD are far much ahead with preparations whilst them are still sitting on the hangers watching their comic president fidgeting with the list of would be candidates.

then tommorrow they lose the election and the same *****s will be crying foul.

  3. But so far only MMD has a parliamentary candidate list. PF is not ready. Drama will unfold soon. We shall see the excuse PF will give. They have been crying for an election date, here it is. Don’t make unnecessary noise please.

  4. My goodness the nominations date will be announced before the opposition announces their candidates…….how could you expect to win an elections with such preparations? First there will be talk of candidates imposed by Central Committee or whoever, some time to explain why the choice by the committees before serious campaigns to sell candidates to electorates …..In my opinion MMD is more prepared than the opposition although my expectations were otherwise and we should not blame anyone when MMD forms government again….as they say Nafuti Nafuti

  5. Madam Mambili just announce the date to start filing nominations papers, the battle to face the judgement day has just began, its now or never.

  6. Sata and his bunch of clowns will be caught with their pants down. Yesterday he was saying he was ready for elections even earlier when he does not even have a full list of candidates. U guys are so scre.wed. I hear HH will be standing as an MP in his kantemba party..kekeke GIVE US YOUR LIST YOU LOSERS.

  7. Clearly sister girl is a Zombian. Look at that severe hair style. She cannot be swayed. She is RBs puppet.

At this point PF forget about it. Just kubeba!

  8. Election time! HH; When i become president i will make zambia the gretest nation by taking the first man to the sun! Journalist: but sir you cnt its hot there! HH- we are not stupid, don forget iam a bussiness manager! We will do the trip at night!

  9. Madam,
Kindly allow as many presidential candidates to file their nominations. If anything, Zambia is a dynamic democracy. With friends again we have set up a democracy fund to help those with economic challenges not to be deterred in their dreams.

  10. Have not been on this site for a while.Looks like this is Pro MMD whilst ZWD is pro HH.
Anyway, all contesting parties must have the lists of the contesting candidates ready despite only having heard the election dates yesterday.
In Zambia, most MPs will win in certainly areas not because of their credibility but because the party they stand on in that area is popular.
You then end up sending some representatives to Manda Hill who will sit and snore through each parliamentary session without ever uttering a sensible word except ‘Here Here’ and not even ‘Hear Hear.’

  11. let the game begin…..
The little pig was crying wolf wolf wolf…….  now the wolf has come.

  12. @7 Nubian Princess, the last part of your blog “JUST KUBEBA” is a beatiful peace. Its obvious that the race is for MMD, PF and UPND. As much as everyone is free to exercise their democratic right to run for presidency, there is no need of having Ten presidential aspirants. I would urge the small clubs that pretend to be political partiesa to declare now and put their weight behind any one of the major political parties. Imagine, the mighty PF and the potentially real change for Zambia, UPND are yet to conclude their nomitions, where does that leave the small parties who last campaigned in 2006?

  13. No amount of tricks, real or imagined, will work this time round. The ECZ can az well set Saturday 30th July, 2011, az the date for candidates to file nominationz, and it will be all systemz go. This iz typical of Afrikan politiks; the incumbent will alwayz look for the eazy way out against the oppozition.

  14. Yaba… ba PF mwashitisha am vote kuli ba MMD nafuti!!??? another 5 years for RB and another 25 years for MMD. clearly there is confusion mu PF, after all the noise they made?? loard have mercy on Zambia

  15. HH wanna win these elections now that election date has bin set. Some of these old presidential candidates might fail to tour the whole country in about 50 days before ze election. I can smell massive bed-rests, watch ze pace!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  16. #10. Domqueen. Its not that this site is pro-MMD. PF supporters are at markets now or driving buses with low literacy levels and think the internet is a model of a car.

  17. stomfyos mutetema , so you think you are more literate than all PF supporters? You just learnt how to use the internet yesterday and you start boasting. For your own information there educated bus drivers than you a grade 7 MMD bootlicker . You must reason why people are being forced to be bus drivers and marketeers , it is because of the bad policies of MMD. You mean it is only PF supporters who are marketeers and bus drivers? You must be out of touch with reality.

  18. I can see I have fished out some Power Failure (PF) supporters from wherever they were. Tell yo rhine-hide faced president that time is running out. I hope his weak heart will manage to drag on until poling day. We want to hear what excuse he will give after killing the pact himself. #18. Go back to your hand to mouth job whilst us innovative ones thrive on the policies set by MMD. Kuli money ku CB kuno.

  19. Am sure Satan will be able to come up with a  Bemba only list of  mps for nomination on time. After that, he will need some time to recover and will only surface again to say that the elections were rigged on the 22nd of Sept 2011.

  20. This is the problem with Black Africans. We pride ourselves too much in titles and positions, than we do in functional usefulness. We should learn that our importance, beyond being human as everyone else is in how much we can be of good, reasonable and profitable service to other people.
This mentality is what makes people we elect sit down and go to sleep as soon as we have voted them into some position. The position and the title become the goal and end in itself. Shame.
This is targeted at those who are talking down the marketeers and bus drivers. These men and women are making the world go round, and you the “educated” are busy slowing the world down.
We must learn to respect all types of morally approved jobs. What would the empty talkers eat if the marketeers did not sell food?

  21. As for the date for nominations, it will be clear whether MMD and ECZ have connived to cheat the opposition, if the period between the announcement of the filing of nomination papers and the date for this is outside of the legal provisions. Otherwise, no one should be taken by surprise.

  22. We only pray that ECZ are the Electoral Commission of Zambia, rather than the Electoral Commission of MMD/PF or of UPND.

It is Zambians they must serve!

  23. For arguments sake if ECZ say nominations in a weeks time, there will be pandemonium. PF and UPND are clearly not ready! Congrats to MMD at least for now.

  24.  stomfyos mutetema  you are a useless cadre who survives on cramps from MMD , your arguments are typical of a cadre . How can you have a president who goes around with his children as DJ s, mwatushebana . Policies of thieves and crooks . Am sure you are just a thieve the so called chimutengos with no offices but conning people.I hope your big noised president will be fit enough to be going to court, Zamtel Saga, Corruption all over, policies of removing the abuse clause, wasted NCC Money, shooting of Zambian Workers by tuma Chinese, the list is endless. Ulekwata amano , where do you buy your food from,is it not from the same marketeers you are insulting? Tawakwata amano , lazo iwe

  25. Good, the opposition was screaming from mountain tops that they wanted the election date named…careful what you wish for sometimes. Izo manje…

  26. Reason why opposition where crying for election date is because they have prepared already

  27. ALL OF US ARE JUST SPECULATING. HOW SAID PF IS NOT READY AND HAS NO LIST OF MPs. IF I REMEMBER VERY WELL, PROVICIAL COMMITTEE SUBMITED THEIR RECOMMENDATIONS LAST WEEK SO EVERY THING IS ON COURSE. AND IT IS A STRATEGY FOR US TO FOLLOW BEHIND MMD SO THAT THEY DONT FRUSTRATE OUR PLAN. IT IS A FACT (WHCH IS EVEN KNOWN BY STATE HOUSE) THAN PF IS MORE ORGANISED THIS TIME THAN EVER BEFORE. TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT

  28. #32 Ah bless! It is touching how you can deceive yourself. Your naivety is so childlike that it would be appealing if it was not for the fact that you are actually an adult who has been deceived by the putrid flesh (pf) party.

  29. @LYAMBAI LYAMBAI. WE NEED POINTS AND EDUCATIVE IDEAS. AS YOU CRITISE PIPO MAKE REFERENCE TO THEIR POSTING AND THEN ADD YOUR VIEW NOT JUST GIVING ABSTRACT STATEMENTS. WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABT OR WHICH PART OF MY STATEMENT DONT YOU AGREE WITH?? HOPE IM NOT DEALING WITH…….

  30. Educated MMD and UPND. Majoeity of Zambians are not so educated and are therefore Kaponyas and marketeers. It is the party with the greater number of this category of people that will carry the day. If both MMD and UPND think that they have no kaponyas and marketeers, then they have already lost the game of numbers. I myself am educated but I do not waste my time going to the booth for voting. I urge UPND and MMD not to be elitist but reach out to the Kaponyas or “fools”.as it stands now, the Kaponyas are definitely taking over. So sorry for the EDUCATED. They will be lead by the majority fools who are more practical.

  31. @17, your blog name is too long so I can mention it here. You say people are forced to be marketeeers and bus drivers because of the bad policies that MMD has put in place. You must be a frustrated citizen who like many others is advocating for change. But the big question still remains “Change to What”. The same policies you complain about and even the constitution which we now call porrous were instituted at the time Mr Sata was in MMD. You will agree with me that Mr Sata was no ordinary member of the MMD that time but a very senoir official (Minister Without Portfolio) of the party such that for most if not all decisions made that time, he actively participated in their formulation.

  32. I hope this year ECZ Chairperson Justice Ireen Mambilima will avoid the drama that tok place at MIC in 2006 during announcement of poll results from across the country. I am sure she has learnt alot of things from 2006. People want to conceed defeat with dignity and honour but not in a situation where there is vote counting cheating or rigging. Let those charged with the responsibility of managing our electrol process be sincere and humble to the people of Zambia who are the owners of elections and the country. We saw what happened in Kenya, Ivory Coast and Zimbabwe. Let there be no foul play. We need peaceful conduct of elections like yesterday.

  33. LT, this is the way you are sifling freedom of speech, when we analyse an unpalatable act on the part of Govt. We have the right to speak out. Why are you taking to post my comment? Still moderating?

  34. Everyone read the POST NEWSPAPER and see Justice Mambilima’s comment on the printing of ballot papers and why Govt Printers could not print the same.

  35. Common insults and derogatory remarks are in Bemba. Ask anyone of these insulting Political Failures (PF) supporters to insult you in any other language other than in Bemba, they’ll not say anything other than donchi kubeba… Tribal party…

  36. As Zambians we believe in free and fair elections we expect it drums to sound a song of fairness who wins let him be given the chance to enjoy the beat of drums.our prayer is that let God give us a leader from his heart.

  37. Tremendous things here. I am very glad to look your post. Thank you a lot and I am having a look forward to contact you. Will you please drop me a e-mail?
