EIU is an imperialist sponsored organization, says Wynter Kabimba as he dismisses their poll prediction

The Patriotic Front (PF) has dismissed the observations of the Economic Intelligence Unit -EIU- , which has continuously stated that President Rupiah Banda and the MMD will win the September 20, general polls.

PF Secretary General Wynter Kabimba says the EIU is an imperialist sponsored organization, whose aim is to protect western companies which have invested in Zambia.

Mr Kabimba says the PF will not be disturbed by the publication’s observations because it has done its ground work ahead of next month’s elections.

He told ZNBC that the PF is a credible party which has managed to field Parliamentary candidates in all the 150 constituencies.

The Economic Intelligence Unit -EIU- says a victory for the opposition Patriotic Front-PF and its leader Michael Sata in the September 20 general elections poses a high risk for Zambia.

This is because of the uncertainty about the policy agenda that PF leader, Mr Sata will implement, citing his alleged indecision on issues like mining taxation.

The August report from the economic analysis organisation, which covers 185 countries, said President Banda’s victory remained the most likely outcome as he would benefit from the advantages of incumbency, the MMD’s formidable electoral machinery and recent maize bumper harvests.

“The elections will be closely contested but are slightly more likely to deliver a victory to the president, Rupiah Banda and the ruling MMD,” the report states.

According to the report, “a Sata presidency would pose certain risks, and that he may not be able to deliver on his campaign slogan of “more money in your pockets” due to fiscal constraints.

It states that Mr Sata’s often justified demands for wage increases could stoke labour unrest, especially in the Copperbelt.

The EIU report says Mr Sata had also been unclear on issues like mining taxation and appeared to be “fairly heavy-handed” in his approach to governance which posed significant risks.

Mr Sata’s nationalist rhetoric, such as an assertion in 2008 that Zambians should hold a 25 per cent or more stake in all companies operating in the country, had created concern among foreign investors

The report states that despite uncertainty over the election results, most Government policy was expected to continue as “public pressure to promote job creation ensures that economic policies stay largely pragmatic”.

It says Zambia was not expected to face any external threats in 2011 up to next year, adding that donors would continue to provide budget support.

The report states that there could only be suspensions of aid if evidence of corruption and mismanagement emerged.

“Zambia is expected to remain on good terms with other countries in the region, underpinned in part by its membership of two regional trade blocs, the Southern African Development Community and the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa,” the report states in part.

  1. It’s my first time to hear of such an organization but my question is does it mean only organisations that predicts rb’s victory are published by state media?what of those that predict victory for Sata are they also covered?

  2. MaRaBish analysis!!! PABWATO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!%%%%%%%%%$$$$###((((NI DON’T KUBEBA@@@@@@@?????????””””””””++++++

  3. UPG, ati corruption, EIU ati imperialists, at times shuting up is not a such a bad idea. You dont respond to anything you hear ba PF naimwe. sometimes kuchaya fye ka ignore kwati tapali efyo mumfwile!

  4. What does this primate know about imperialism when his Boss Sata as a cook was an anti independence and mole on the chachacha proponents? EIE is imperialist but his Gays and Taliban crusade.

  5. EIU is MMD fabrication this institution does not even exist. It’s the same Chanda Chimbwi who has resurfaced as EIU.We know you……only the gullible will believe this nonsense.

  6. If you are a political analyst, you should realise that the EIU report suggests that either RB or Sata can win the elections, it does not suggest outright victory for any of the two but that there is a possibility of any of the two winning the polls. In short this report is neutral and not telling us who is going to win the polls.

    • It is not a neutral report. It is threatening disaster if Sata wins. It suggests that Rupiah Banda’s victory would be a better idea.

    • Very fun indeed. With the same editors. Practical example is when Chiluba was frequenting courts during the time of LPM they called him all sorts of names. When his saviour RB came in they begun speaking from the other side of their mouths

  7. Kabimba, keep on refusing, you will be shocked on the 20th next month. Economic Intelligence Unit predictions are always almost 100% right.

  8. hehehe..tehre we go..PF is a danger to our society..we don’t know what they are waiting for..?they shud ve deregistered this party by now!

  9. This is PF at Best, no brains and no objectivity whatsoever. To them what makes sense is what supports them.

I want to Challenge all you PF Kaponyas ( because that is what you are exhibiting really) to google “postzambia + EIU” and then come back we debate.

EIU is the organisation you celebrated in May and July and today the same organisation is an imperialist one?? Absolutely jaw dropping!!! And this is the Party you want to put in power that change like Chameleons.

Fellow Zambians, be warned. This snake you want to trust with your life will swallow you!! See how it is flip flopping.

    ==================

    • I just google’d “postzambia + EIU” ….., in may, the post published the EIU report because it sounded favorable to Kaponyas. But now that things are not looking so rosy, i bet it
      wont be published there

  10. If this prediction was coming from the Post, Kabimba would have been saying that they are winning. Just accept the truth PF, you are loosing again… for the 4th time.

  11. Alot of people here in Glasgow, they are wondering whether Zambia is a country or town, some even say they know Zimbabwe not zambia. The truth is we are a small country that is not known, an thus all these people making headlines here are not even making any

When there were elections in Zimbabwe, Nigerian and Ivory coast, the BBC and other Media including here in Scotalnd were known and published

We are so behind, that people laugh at us, even our flag is not something easy to distinugh and the preetiest flags compared to countries like Nigeria , Senegal

People Insisting and excited about the future prospects in Zambia are deluded, insane and need to smell the coffee.

We are laughing stock here in Scotland

    Thanks

    • What exactly are you trying to say? You are the one letting our nation down. Just look at some of your spellings “preetiest” “distinugh”. How can someone write such thrash as “The truth is we are a small country that is not known, an thus “????????

When you say small, what do you mean? Scotland has a population of 5,222,100 (2010 estimate)and an area of 78,782 square kilometres. Zambia has an estimated population of about 13, 000, 000 and an area of 752,618 square kilometres.

You as an individual is a laughing stock there. Thanks

    • what a wast of human energy to create such a useless person like mushota. so in your small uneducated brain, Zambia is smaller than Zimbabwe? sometimes it’s good to keep quiet than vomit trash when you know nothing. Zambia’s several times bigger than Zimbabwe my friend. that’s the problem of sucking white cock everyday with no dignity at all!

    • Pleas mushota make Zambia known in Scotland by telling everyone that you have da biggest & lose pussy in Africa !!

  12. Ok! Why does he still insist EIU is non credible, He is entitled to his opinions and he strongly thinks his opinions are objective and everyone should go with it. My family’s opinion is that EIU is right so lets go polls my family will show you.

Economist Intelligence Unit predicts change of govt
By George Chellah Tue 31 May 2011, 04:10 CA

    =================================

THE Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) has revealed that the forthcoming general elections could result in a transfer of power from President Rupiah Banda to PF leader Michael Sata.

And the EIU states that Sata’s popularity has grown as public discontent with the government has increased.

This is contained in the latest EIU country report on Zambia for May 2011.

And the EIU has maintained that the forthcoming elections could lead to a transfer of power from President Rupiah Banda to Michael Sata.

    …….

  14. Mushota you are one of the people who are making Zambia a laughing stock because instead of coming here you are busy begging, cleaning plates, carrying disabled people and you are there Glascow, Glascow shame akupipa amafi abasungu ifo fine

  15. Ba SG but your information wing(The Post) last time told us that its very reliable.Thats how some of us came to know it!..Chiwamila Galu…….Viva The Post Viva EIU!

Attacks on Catholics could cost MMD – EIU
By George Chellah Mon 04 July 2011, 03:59 CAT

    =====================================
THE Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) has revealed that state-owned media’s campaign against the Catholic Church could dent support for the MMD among Zambia’s three million Catholics.

And the EIU has maintained that the forthcoming elections could lead to a transfer of power from President Rupiah Banda to Michael Sata.

This is contained in the latest EIU country report on Zambia for June 2011.

There are the FACTS Zambians. Is this the Party you surely want to trust the destiny of Zambia. Surely Zambia deserves a better and objective opposition

    I REST MY CASE

  17. We know a lot of Zambian including you Mushota are suffering there but ashamed of coming back home because you almost beggars, a phiri anabwera

  18. very true predication its quiet obvious that RB will win it doesnt even have to take an organisation to tell us that

  19. Wynter! Wynteee! Wynter? Aren’t you the one who praised the same EIU when their first projections said you were ahead of MMD and Rupiah Banda and that PF would win if everything remained the same. So you are not just dull, you are also a hypocrite??? That is not surprising anyway, we have always suspected that. In the first projections, PF was leading. Everybody knows about this and remembers this and I do remember very clearly that the PF and Sata and its supporters of demagogues and kaponyas all celebrated and warned Rupiah to prepare to hand over power. Infact I can confidently say that unfortunately it was that first projection that gave Sata and Wynter Chibimba the false confidence to ditch the partnership with UPND because they now felt they didn’t need them. And now?? Woyo!!!!

  20. Mr kabimba is only attempting to put up a brave face and keep his job. Its understable considering that he has lost all the muscle in the legal fraternity that is if he had any. Anyone has the right to issue out their predictions based on whatever assessment they carry out. Have you forgotten already when the Post carried a headline that PF could win the polls even without the pact? Whose opinion was it? Was it from another imperialist sponsored organisation whose interest is to open our borders to Talibans and Taiwanese?

  21. “Mr Sata’s nationalist rhetoric, such as an assertion in 2008 that Zambians should hold a 25 per cent or more stake in all companies operating in the country, had created concern among foreign investors”

Is EIU proposing continued raping of national resources by the so called investors a better option? It’s only in Zambia where the investors are king as they draw their own terms on how they will operate. Huge tracts of game management and farming land is being apportioned to these so called investors mostly alien who create their own havens even driving out the owners of the land. Check out on hectarage distribution between Zambians and “investors”. The nationalistic rhetoric is spot on!

  22. #10 SHIMPUNDU PABWATO.COM – How old are you? Stop embarrassing yourself and go and break your wind somewhere else. If you don’t know about the existence of EIU, which planet have you been on? Or maybe you are one of those school drop outs who has just learnt how to type…

  23. Am PF but Kabimba it doesnt say PF will lose but its 50-50 for RB and Sata the only thing is that it will be risky to have Sata as president, and for sure they are scared we might start getting the profits we deserve from our mines, Viva Election 2011

  24. #10 SHIMPUNDU PABWATO.COM —- if you have access to a computer why don’t you just google EIU, rather than embarrassing yourself. Sometimes a little bit of common sense is useful…seek the truth before you say anything. Some people who come here are very well read and educated people. So for you come with kind of remark kind of shocks everybody…is this the quality of PF supporters??? Again just confirming what people are saying about the quality of PF supporters brainwise… Anyway good luck to you and your party…

  25. I think Sata and Winter are competing for the position of Best Clown and I.dot
I just want to wait and see who gets the prize

  26. Often, and lately any piece of newz that the so called public media goez ballistic about must be received with a pinch of salt. However, there iz no need for Wynter to “dismiss” or indeed call this EIU namez.

  27. Hahaaaaa….you don’t have to worry about polls…the real polls are coming, just campaign, we don’t want people who will cry wolf after the elections. When the results come out, accept them, put your tails in between the legs and contribute wich ever way you can to make mother Zambia a better place.

  28. ” EIU is an imperialist sponsored organization, says Wynter Kabimba as he dismisses their poll prediction ”

Very true, they are very anti-Mugabe, anti-liberation. The Economist itself is nearly 50% owned by the trillionaire banking dynasty, which owns Reuters and Rio Tinto outright and are also the largest single shareholder of Anglo-American De Beers, which controls 90% of the world’s diamond trade and mining.

The Economist Intelligence Unit is also consistently wrong in it’s ‘analysis’, because political and ideological considerations trump common sense and historical analysis.

  29. Question: Can anyone tell me where the TONGA clan, that TONGA PARTY is doing campaigns from? It is so quite or has it already finished campaigning since its courage is so small? Only in TONGA land

    • Tonga party? I wonder what would have happened to UPND had Saki taken over the leadership of this galant party! 20HH has kept it afloat like it or not…you BEMBA tribalist pa fwaka

  30. @ #18 Mushota, its you they are laughing at not Zambia baby girl. I could any normal Zambian be worried about recognition by an ignorant group of people you associate with? Last week we had a group of tourists from Glasgow and Abedeen who came to see the wonderful wetlands of Zambia ( I guess they thought they were in Zimbabwe for you).

FYI I have rednecks in Savanna, Ga; Mobile, Al; Baffalo, NY and other places ask me whether Zambia is a town in Soweto, which to refrects their ignorance not the value of my country. The only reason Zimbabwe, Senegal, Nigeria and Ivory Coast are known and covered is because of the civil strife in those countries. Grow-up kido and don’t worry about Zambia not being covered in your local media instead worry about riots in your new country.

  31. Yes, MMD will win because the opposition by their own greed and continuing division are going to give it to RB on a silver plate. Even an under 5 can tell you this. So wake up and smell your behind iwe chiWynter Ka I am in denial.

  32. MMD can win if the so called EIU are the only regitered voters in Zambia. Muzadabwa ba EIU muzanvela nansoni. RB & MMD had there time & now it is gone. what ever goes up must always come down. Last kicks of a dying horse (MMD) are hard. Ni pabwato chabe. MAY MMD & RB rest in peace. GOD will hear our prayers.

  33. This report will not change anything on the political scene. PF is winning this election. EIU you are not zambians. Leave these issues with us. We know your interest; to suck zambia’s resources. Yours days are numbered. Your fear is that Sata is pro zambian while RB and his MMD are pro foreigners. Things are changing after 20th September. You have stolen from us and we are tired of you. We are better off without you.

    VIVA SATA ………………………………… PABWATO……………..VIVA PF ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

  34. Kunta Kinte: why should we believe a foreign institution when we can can carryout our own opinion polls as Zambians.. I don’t care whether last time EIU said PF would win or not…What is more reliable is what is done by the locals & not foreigners..If you dispute what i say.then each one of us has his/her opinion. The same educated people you praise are the ones that plundered our economy during Chiliba’s regime…wisdom and intelligence are two different things.

  35. In May this year this same EIU was a darling of PF and its surrogate homo newspaper. They massaged your inflated egos and now reality has dawned on you,you start claiming its an imperialist organisation.Just what do people see in this PF nonsesnse? I am appalled.

  36. PF is in high drive giving out conflicting statements. They are saying : ecz is not credible by engaging UPG, but at the same time are rubbishing EIU’s informed prediction as of an imperialist organization. This disconnectedness of statements in pf is stark evidence of organizational failure to marshal up a formidable election strategy. It is becoming apparent that they are ill prepared for these elections, and so protest and wild accusations have become their excuse.

  37. ” EIU is an imperialist sponsored organization, says Wynter Kabimba as he dismisses their poll prediction ”

Very true, they are very anti-Mugabe, anti-liberation. The Economist is nearly 50% owned by the trillionair banking dynasty, which owns Reuters and Rio Tinto outright and are also the largest single shareholder of Anglo-American De Beers, which controls 90% of the world’s diamond trade and mining.

The Economist Intelligence Unit is also constently wrong in it’s ‘analysis’, because political and ideological considerations trump common sense and historical analysis.

  38. Eeesh, Winter also has red lips. What are the politicians eating in Zambia or what is actually eating them? Ma by-elections ayo ayo ayo bane before 2016.

  39. PF’s major failure this time around is probably the failure to have capable team of strategizing a work out goal. All it seems is that Wynter Kabimba, who appears all but detached from reality, as the sole mover of policy, a disaster.
The uncoordinated statements coming from Kabimba’s mouth has given away what should never be left bare in such an undertaking as election campaigning. But over-all since the buck begins and ends with ‘the Boss’, Kabimba’s failure ultimately is the failure of his appointing Authourity.

  40. Its all the signs of defeat. I agree with you the have no strategy of common voice. If you listen to

    Sata
    Scot
    Winter
    Bob sichinga

Its like you are listening from people from different parties. The signs of the end of PF are very clear to everyone. No wonder they resorted to court actions the simple fact is they have nothing to sell to Zambian people. This time around defeat will come very hard. I predict the end of PF as a party after September

  41. Agreed with #11,read paragraph 8 again, there is no outright victory for either RB or SATA; which is a refelction on the ground; but looking at issues now PF is slightly above MMD

  42. My fellow bloggers dont worry about EIU that is a foreign institution which has it won agenda and interest to protect.as for as Zambia the rightings are very clear on the wall.Check Zambia online were Zambian with voters cards are making their predictions and the results are showing that,Sata is leading the race with 51%,followed by HH with 24% and RB in the Third place with 17% and the rest at 1% and 2% respectively. This is more or less a true reflection of wat is happening on the ground not those by EIU. they can take their predictions someone else as for the locals, for our just go Zambia.co.zm and make your predication

    • You wish! just do some count down to 20 sept and see what we the Zambian have to say like every other election year.

  43. This is typical PF every election year noise but losers.don’t want any of you crying rigging like you have done. You are always in your own box till the end. Do you know how many times you have lost elections you cadres? Wonder what you will be saying on this space after elections. My only prayer to God is that you will be the usual good losers ,please do not turn into rebels we love Zambia.

  44. I’m not a mushota fan but there’s some truth with what she’s saying. Zambia has not been marketed enough for most countries to know it. The zambian embassy here in the US is trying to sell the country but its not enough. Its heart breaking to have people not believe you when you say that the victoria falls is in Zambia not in south africa. almost all tour operators in south africa include a visit to vic falls as part of their tourist package. UPND is right we need a national airline. It will play abig role in marketing our country. Its mostly the senior citizens who know Zambia here in the US. Do u knw how? When you mention KK’s name.

  45. Is it not surprising that the majority of bloggers are in the diaspora and will not vote? Please let us show maturity in how we blog. We are all Zambians after all.

  46. Mr Kabimba,
On about 2 occasions the post reported that PF will scoop this years elections based on the EIU assessment now that the same organisation is projecting RB to scoop the polls it becomes an imperialist organisation.Politicians think we are so stupid and forgetful. It is their opinion the battle will be won on the battle field.Viva H.H

  47. I still have my Black zambian passport, will this cause havoc when I renew my VISA here in Glasgow. Just asking those who know, my mother in zambia says they may have expired, I havent had time to have had a green one. SOmeone smart please explain

    Thanks

    • Mushota, your passport is varied until you travel to Zambia. You can use it outside Zambia but you won’t be allowed to leave Zambia on the old one. So renew your visa with a peace of mind. Sorry I may be from Mansa but I understand these things.

  48. SHIMPUNDU PABWATO.COM – Ofcourse I respect everybody’s opinion. What I refuse is empty allegations just because you want to support your party to death. For you to claim that EIU is a frabrication of MMD is a bit too far. The ECONOMIST is the most respected global economics magazine in the world. What MrK @38 is saying is irrelevant to the point I’m making. Even CNN, Sky Sports, The Post newspaper are owned privately. Everybody has gotten their analysis wrong at one point or another, unless those who are dead! But tell you what, the EIU correctly predicted Kaunda’s downfall in 1990 that he wasn’t gonna last….he didn’t last. You PF guys, the first EIU predicted that Sata could possibly win, and I didn’t hear any complaints. Now, you are condemning it! Muselela kwakaba!!

  49. I thought it is legal to have guns in Zambia as long as you have a permit for the same? Please let us not allow ignorance to reign.

  50. I support ba Mushota.Sometimes we need to tell the truth bane.Even here in Botswana people think victoria falls is just in Zimbabwe. Our next President must work on our ministry of tourism, its the worst ministry. Please even in all those countries we helped during their independence, they do not recognise us.FACT otherwise research.

  51. PF foreign polict: The west are ‘imperialists’ and the Chinese are ‘recolonising us’, so the only good countries outside Africa are Taiwan and Afghanistan.

  52. Whatever he means by: “Imperialist sponsored organization?” The fact of the matter is that, foreign investors do pay significant attention to what organizations like EIU say. In the recent past, Zambia has enjoyed substantial flow of foreign investment. With people like Wynter Kabimba at the helm of power and wielding such an attitude, the flow of foreign investment, which Zambia has been enjoying, could dry-up instantly!

  53. PF leader Michael Sata yesterday received a thunderous welcome in North Western Province’s Mwinilunga district where he later addressed a mammoth rally in the afternoon.
Now you tell me who is sick?

  54. It is plain to see why HH could not survive in the so called Namakando Mmembe controlled, PF-UPND pact. Wynter Masebo simply does not think. If he has a little intellgence, he should read some of the above objective posts and get to learn an issue or two. He is as lost as it gets!

  55. Its also important that Wynter Masebo and all other bloggers read No. 71’s comment above. Rabbies can be nasty

  56. @ mushota. Ulitole togethere with those dull people in glasgow if my 4 year old daughter can know where france,uk, china, usa, japan by just looking at the world map what more of those big *****s tell them they are very dull, l even wonder if they know other countries of the world bull shit

  57. chalepasa naiwewine ulitole abaswana baliba dull what do u expect an intelligent person can just look at the world map & locate where vic. falls

  58. There is a chronic denial in Zambia that we are privatising our profit and in the process socialising the countrys losses to our people. This is a fact which most politicians are scared to talk about
