United Party for National Development-UPND president Hakainde Hichilema has observed that health workers are working in distress and difficult conditions.In an interview, Hichilema said government workers through out the country were distressed as a result of non commitment by government to improve the conditions of service.
“Workers are working in distressful and difficult conditions of service because the MMD government doesn’t want to improve the conditions of service for its workers and these are some of the issues why we are saying there is need to change government and bring into operation a government which will respect the labour force and improve the conditions of service,” said Hichilema.
And Hichilema said the UPND is aware of the poor conditions of service health workers were subjected to, adding that grants given to health institutions are not enough to address health problems.
He also pledged to assist the hospitals in the country in various ways.
“I am aware institutions have priorities, please let us know as soon as possible on how best we can assist, just put things you need in and we shall come to the aid of the hospitals, we are very saddened with the situation at many hospitals in the country,” he said.

The issue here is structure. The hospitals need to be decentralized to help them become more efficient and accountable. For example, the food department, security ,equipment maintanence, cleaning and maintenence of the hospital can be outsourced to private companies on a yearly contract. In addition, they need to hire MBA qualified managers to manage the hospital administration instead of doctors. When Margaret Thatcher did with NHS it helped put the accounting and administration in order. Even it means them hiring expatraites for the job. Basically doctors should be left to work and concentrate on doing their jobs as doctors.

Thats good no name but understand that we have an obligation to society because not everyone will acquire what we have and when God blesses us its our obligation to help those in need.If you go to church its also written that blessed is the hand that giveth.So God blesses us so that we can also help others.So if HH is wise he would have gone that rout given that he is aspiring to be a father of a nation.If a father is greedy how will he care for his sons and daughters.
Mind we cant all be businessmen and neither can we all be teachers.so the people in the village save a purpose and even those in shanty compounds without schools and hospitals they are people.Now government is over loaded with responsibilities but for the sake of development thats where you and i come in even HH.but if we hide and say its not my responsibility then we are killing our own nation.You and i know we are not on HH level but there is something we can do to society with our small resources.Its like at church when they want to build they always ask the members to contribute something beyond the tithe and those who are financialy sound they will pick the roof and say how buy 100 roofing sheets the kaponyas will come and say 100 iron sheets are not enought how contribute 56 roofing

As for donations, it’s not wrong or unsusual for political parties to ask for financial support from their supporters even MMD has people funding it, word going around is that mining companies are funding MMD campaigns (we all know why), even obama’s campaigns were funded by its supporters.

I think people should be serious on how the put up their arguments. Zambian people should learn to work hard other than wait for handouts. HH is not in government to start building schools and hospitals. There is someone paid by Zambians to do that.
