The Electoral Commission of Zambia Chairperson Justice Irene Mambilima has cautioned the media to desist from publishing falsehoods and alarming statements related to this year’s tripartite election.
Justice Mambilima says it is an offence for any media house to take such as path.
The ECZ Chairperson was referring to a story published in the press alleging that former commission Director Dan Kalale was seen at the Nakatindi hall at the Lusaka civic centre.
Justice Mambilima has dispelled the article as a total fabrication and cautioned the media against dwelling on un substantiated statements.
She also says the commission has shut down their results announcement page on the website following a story appearing that the commission has announced summary presidential results from 1 hundred and 33 constituencies.
Meanwhile, Justice Mambilima says the commission is happy that incidents of violence that characterized Tuesday’s poll day have stopped.
Justice Mambilima has also announced that the Commission has received results from 70 of the One hundred and 50 constituencies.
She however says that the commission is still verifying the result and has only officially announced 33 constituencies at the Election Results centre in Lusaka.
Justice Mambilima announced that the PF Leader Michael Sata has so far polled 265 843 representing 46.5%
MMD’s Rupiah Banda has polled192 966votes representing 33.82%
UPND’s Leader Hakainde Hichilema has polled 93 645 representing 16%
This is from the 33 constituencies that the ECZ has officially announced.
Justice Mambilima announced the development after briefing various political stakeholders including the Civic Society Organisations, the Church, the Media and both local and International Observers at the Mulungushi International conference centre.

The results have all been announced in polling districts. All Civic centres in each district have the figures. So what is the ECZ waiting for. manipulation of the results. UPND and other Opposition parties should back the winner PF. They allhave the tabulation of the results. So what is the delay? The problem is the other Opposition parties want MMD to rig so that PF is denied a victory cause they know a victory for PF will make them wait 20 yrs for them to be in Opposition.

The ECZ I.T guy was given the results and the ECZ bosses thought it would take him the whole day to put up. However, this is a Content Management System with a plugin for polls… so he is able to do it in 5min… State House hears about it and they try to work out their rigging figures… IT WON’T WORK with 133 Constituencies gone… “PULL IT DOWN!”, they say. “Just make a story and the dull Zambians will believe it”. SORRY ECZ and MMD, we are not that gullable.
Mr RB the longer you leave this the more your little left diginity will erode. Accept defeat graciously and congratulate the man of the moment. In this circumstances, it is unwise to do a silly thing of impossing yourself on people who clearly do not want you. People on the ground are to confirm more results. However, suggestions are that PF has won the remaining 10 seats Northern, MMD has won 10 Eastern Province. Two are postponed. The remaining 21 seats are for grab by any party. I will give you the remaining seats by province.
According to Voice of America- Vote counting continues in Zambia from Tuesday’s general elections. Partial results show an early lead by main challenger Michael Sata of the Patriotic Front party. He has 42 percent of the vote compared to 35 percent for President Rupiah Banda of the ruling Movement for Multiparty Democracy and 18 percent for a candidate of the UPND party.
According to the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ), the results are based on a tally of 133 of the country’s 150 constituencies.

its a ridiculous we have to use social media to get election results. The ECZ is suppose to post the info on the site so that it is transparent and accessible. Surely, 133 constituencies must have been counted by now. But there is no information on the site for all to see. So why even have a website in the first place.

I am normally a highly reasonable person when posting on this blog but patience has run out. These assholes youc ECZ, RB and MMD want to rig this election. Why should these chaps gag the private media in the release of results, if not for purposes of riiging. Fellow zambians, someone has just declared war on you and you are duty- bound to defend yourselves. RB is a stupid old man and has nothing to lose. This is the more reason he is hiding in Chipata and will cross over into MALAWI if need be while us Zambians butcher each other. RISE AND BE COUNTED.

The provincial remaining seats shows that PF is still winning 1seat in CB, 3seats in Luapula, 10seats in Northern and few from any province. PF has won more seats than any party currently. UPND will still add in North West province. MMD is expected to have plus + minus – 50 seats only. People have spoken although I dont like Sata. Congrats PF, Congrats His Exellence Mr. M. C. Sata

Why is it that people in rural areas counts so slow that it takes them two or more days to count 5000 votes from one polling station whilst Lsk or CB with 25000votes on a polling station would just take 3 hours.
