Deputy Governor for Bank of Zambia responsible for operations Dr. Austin Mwape is currently attending the ongoing 2011 International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank meetings in Washing DC.

Director of Budget at the Ministry of Finance and National Planning is leading the Zambian delegation to the meetings which started on 22nd September and are expected to end on the 26th of September, 2011.

The meetings are among other things focusing on job creation, global economy, gender issues and climate change, the 12th Five Year Plan including the role of financial reform in transforming China’s growth.

This is contained in a statement made available to ZANIS in Lusaka today signed by Secretary to the Press in Washing DC Ben Kangwa.

The delegation will also hold bilateral discussions with other partner financial institutions to discuss Zambia’s reclassification to Lower Middle Income Country.

“ The delegation is also scheduled to meet the African Department of IMF to discuss the preliminary focus of the 2012 budget and the way forward on the economic programme , “ Mr Kangwa said.

He said other meetings will be held with the Fiscal Affairs Department to discuss technical assistance in revenue administration and the public financial management reforms.

Mr. Kangwa noted that the delegation is further expected to meet with the World Bank Director Colin Bruce on strategy and operations of the Africa Region including the International Finance Corporation (IFC).

The IMF and World Bank Board of Governors normally meet once a year between the period of September and October in Washington and in another member country during the third year to discuss the work of their respective institutions.

The meetings give an opportunity to governors to take up matters of business and consult with one another on how current international monetary issues should be addressed among other things.

  1. Whenis Ben Kangwa being recalled we want him back to zambia. He had been writing rubbish about PF on this web site. For those who did not know him he is senior citizen.

  2. Ben kangwa, who are you still representing??? Have you finished packing??? Find that return ticket & confirm your flight back!!! You have reached retirement age by way of circumstance!!!

  3. Sorry our hard working Guy Scott does not qualify to be VP under the current constitution. A VP should have the same credentials as the president, the parentage clause disqualify him.

  4. Fellow Zambians, lets not get Racial, Despite Guy Scott being white he qualifies to be Vice President, This was already verified. We have already done better as an African Country and I think we would be seen as a different country. I am for him to be our Next Vice President.

We also need an independent body other than Auditor General to Audit and monitor all projects, plus Quality of delivery in all Constituencies. These MPs have been misusing Government Funds. A mix of Auditors and Project Management Professionals. We need accountability and defined deliverables, balance scorecards for these MPs, else fire them.

  5. This delegation at WB/IMF is based on the MMD policy and mandate and therefore, must stop discussion immediately until they have consulted with the New Government elect. What 2012 budget are we talking about here? The MMD budget and surely you don’t expect the budget to be implemented in its current form with modifications to suit the priorities as seen by the Sata Government

  6. The fact is that we need to separate the State from the Party. Here the party has nothing to do with state. They are representing Zambia. But surely the matter was put to rest last month Guy is VP without parental clause or with It.

The other thing is that we need to give MMD a bill for holding NEC meetings at State House for 20 Years. PF do not hold yours there.

  7. All of, ok 98 % of the Mps Etc are all from post Britsh age, they all need to be made to retire from politics and get fresh young educated Blood,
