Paramount Chief Mpezeni of the Ngoni people of Eastern Province has appealed to government to draw up a programme of constructing and rehabilitating roads in all parts of the country.

Paramount chief Mpezeni said road infrastructure was the driving force toward economic development because they connect productive areas to markets.

He told the media at his Ependukeni palace during the week that all sectors of the economy depend on a good road network hence the need to improve
road infrastructure.

Meanwhile, paramount chief Mpezeni has commended government for rehabilitating roads in his area.

He noted that the Patriotic Front government had already started showing its commitment to improving the road sector.

And a senior citizen, Webster Shawa, urged the Patriotic Front (PF) government to diversify crop production by moving away from promoting maize production only.

Mr. Shawa noted that until research for alternative crops was done and markets found for these crops, the agricultural sector will continue to face challenges.

He said the province required positive agricultural policies for economic growth.

  1. So gentlemen what has the chief done to warrant these verbal attacks? Pe zed we no longer have any positiveness left in us? All some pipo do is oppose in a negative way all the time. Is it wrong to commend something? Respect chiesfs atleast

  2. That’s the problem with Easterners; typical of “bamulwa-koswe”. The same mouth was used to discredit PF and Sata in particular, and the same mouth is still at it again. Just shut up ba Mpezeni if anything, eat more and more of those so-called ‘mbeba tails’…

  3. Iwe ka5 you seem not to be following Mpezeni very well. Mpezeni made it clear that he did not support RB but that Sata was his favourite. Mpezeni even visited Sata at State house just after elections. So what same mouth are you talking about you dullard. We need more comments from these chiefs otherwise politicians will not work and its their subjects like you who will suffer. Don’t just blog from without. And don’t insult people like that. I end here!

  4. The chief “has appealed to government to draw up a programme of constructing and rehabilitating roads in all parts of the country.” Meanwhile, paramount chief Mpezeni has commended government for rehabilitating roads in his area.

He noted that the Patriotic Front government had already started showing its commitment to improving the road sector.

So what is the point of appealing to government to do what, according to the same cheif, it is already doing?

On the issue of agriculture by Mr Shawa, diversity is necessary, yes, but farmers themselves must be innovative and suggest to government their new ideas, not expect government to think for them and suggest what other crops they should grow.

  5. We need to have local authorities take charge of their jurisdictions so they can source contractors to work on town and city roads. This idea of relying on the central government in Lusaka to go and grade a small stretch of residential road in Chipata or Shangombo is nonsense. Lets empower our local authority so that, in good measure, we can reach out and slap them easier when they do not work. It is too far to stretch for a slap to Lusaka!!!!

  6. Chi Brainee and you Chi Nubian princess, you retards must learn to keep your crap to yourselves. What honestly is wrong in Mpezeni’s statement? Na iwe chi Chumbu Mushula, if you have any memory then it must be extremely short. How can you forget that mpezeni openly supported PF?

  7. Number 4 spot on. It is increasingly becoming difficult to intelligently debate on all these online sites. All there is are insults and unprintables. The Chief’s advice is very valid. Government through responsible ministries needs to look at the entire road structure, prioritise the roads to be done and draw a five year plan on how to tackle and implement the road works. Can we have sanity of these sites. They are really brewing disunity in the nation

  8. His Royal The Highness Paramount Chief Mpezeni needs some subtle advice. IN THE SAME VEIN THAT THE PARAMOUNT CHIEF MPEZENI IS ABLE TO COMMUNICATE WITH PRESIDENT SATA AND HIS GOVT.ON A NUMBER OF ISSUES, OUR PARAMOUNT CHIEF MUST ALSO TAKE A KEEN INTEREST TO PROTECT HIS OWN SONS AND DAUGHTERS THAT PRESIDENT SATA MAY BE GROOMING FOR TORTURE SHOULD A NEW VERSION OF THE ZERO OPTION BE LAUNCHED AGAINST PROMINENT MMD & UPND MEMBERS SPREAD ALL OVER ZAMBIA. Paramount Chief has a lot to gain from his newly discovered gold in PF Govt; but human life is so short that the viable dynamics of political change are part of the democracy that Zambians strive to preseserve.

  9. Mupesheni is right. Actually he was very clear on Sata during the campaigns. He seems to have matured now, not the brown-envelope loving Mupesheni during FTJ’s reign!
