Stop demeaning President Michael Sata-Kabimba

PATRIOTIC Front (PF) Secretary-General, Wynter Kabimba has advised the opposition to end the growing habit of writing letters that are contemptuous to President Michael Sata on national issues.

Mr Kabimba said some opposition party leaders were pretending to be writing the letters to champion national issues when in fact they aimed at demeaning the President.

He said President Sata has an open-door policy and welcomed views from different political party leaders and ordinary Zambians but that this should not be abused in a fashion of venting anger at the President.

Mr Kabimba was speaking on ‘Let the People Talk’ programme on Radio Phoenix in Lusaka yesterday.

Recently, United Party for National Development (UPND) leader Hakainde Hichilema wrote to Mr Sata stating that the head of State had been demeaning important national issues.

MMD president, Nevers Mumba also wrote to Mr Sata complaining that the appointment of Members of Parliament (MPs) from his party into Government was an assault to democracy.

But Mr Kabimba charged that opposition political leaders have been writing letters that were not well-meaning instead of focusing on issues that would benefit the country.

“President Sata is a personable leader and has an open-door policy. Any person, be it a political leader or an ordinary person, can write to the President or make an appointment but it is wrong to write contemptuous letters to him.

“You can make a point by being polite and not to belittle the head of State. Don’t lecture him of how to dress during State functions, it is important to respect him as President. He was elected by the people and hence we ought to give him the respect he deserves,” he said.

President Sata has received correspondence from the two opposition leaders who have engaged in personal attack to discredit him over what they have termed as ‘national issues.’

Mr Kabimba said the country did not have a strong opposition movement to contribute to the growth of the economy because the parties spent a lot of time on personal matters.

“There is no opposition, the opposition is weak, all they want is to fight the President and they are not being meaningful to the development of this country. They must concentrate on mobilising their parties,” he said.

He said the PF was the one in Government currently and the opposition should wait until 2016 to have a chance of forming the next government.

He said it was vital for those in opposition in the meantime to re-organise their parties and not carry on with the bitterness of losing the 2011 elections.

On President Sata’s decision to appoint opposition MPs in his Cabinet, Mr Kabimba reiterated that the President wanted to have an all-inclusive Government.

He added that the MMD should not cry foul on this issue because the former ruling party did set precedence on appointing MPs from opposition to Cabinet.

“Every Zambian across partisan lines can be chosen to take part in the governance of this country.

“We have invited members of the MMD because they have skills that can benefit the country,” he said.

On vendors, Mr Kabimba reiterated that it was important for Cabinet ministers to implement policies in line with the party manifesto.

He said the party manifesto had a direction on how to handle the issue of vending and that issuing ultimatum was not an immediate solution.

He said Government was determined to create jobs and empower citizens and that was the direction that would address, among other issues, street vending which was as a result of unemployment.

Asked to state the position of the PF on the running-mate clause in the Constitution, Mr Kabimba said the party had not taken a stance on the matter.

On the economy, he said it was Government’s obligation to expand the country’s economy by creating more employment in the private sector.

He said Government would promote policies that would expand the private sector and make it more viable.

He said this was aimed at cutting Government as being the major employer so that expenditure could be diverted to other needy sectors.

“By revamping and creating more jobs in the private sector, Government would be able to save millions and would be able to invest in other sectors of the economy,” he said.

  1. Let these so called leaders, allow our democratically elected president
Rule in peace please and Sir kabimba keep up the good work you are
doing and ignore these tribalist cows

    • We chipuba cha ba wiso. Your kolwestan is the biggest tribalist. Kolwestans are so stupid, what have you gained from your presidents so far? You will always be the poorest people in Zambia.

  2. CAN YOU PEOPLE IN ZAMBIA CONFIRM THAT YOUR PRESIDENT HAS ONCE AGAIN GONE TO INDIA FOR URGENT MEDICAL ATTENTION.
WE ARE WORRIED HERE IN ZIMBABWE

  3. Sata should first apologise for the obvious disrespect he showed to Presidents Mwanawasa and Banda before his henchmen make demands that Sata be accorded the respect he never showed to other Presidents. Kabimba has no moral right to even attempt to moralise over this issue.

  4. Countrymen, what is ‘demeaning’ or ‘contemptuous’ about what HH and NM wrote? Are we now slipping into hero-worshipping because l cant recall any opposition leader who has ever been more demeaning and contemptuous of sitting presidents than Sata was. My God, what he used to say about Mwanawasa and RB is nothing compared to what Samson Kamimbya is claiming

  5. Presidency is the country’s supreme constitutional office, even if I explain, Hakainde will never understand because this man knows nothing about governance. He is like a lost political hyena. He has no ethics and etiquette what so ever on how to write to the head of state.

On moral ground Hakainde should just quit politics because he is boring to the nation.

  6. VIVA HH everybody is feeling your heat. even when not mentioned they are dead scared of you. God bless HH

  7. “You can make a point by being polite and not to belittle the head of State……. it is important to respect him as President. He was elected by the people and hence we ought to give him the respect he deserves,” Kabimba said. ???? That is exactly what we advised you when you were in opposition Mr Kabimba, exactly our words then, that you should not teach this nation a culture of insulting the president because bad manners stick. And looking at the ZNBC interview of Kabimba on Thursday evening, with such arrogant, undiplomatic and uncouth language against the opposition, does Kabimba seriously think that he has made dialogue possible with his political adversaries, or even school children for that matter?

  8. who chews who when an under five ngombe hh meets the LION HE MCS ?? the lion of course Who is the Leader of them all in our nation? the alpha lion is HE MCS,,,, So these smo smo calfs and their tonga tribal party can insult, huff and puff all they like HE MCS is our democratically elected HEAD OF STATE… an under5 calf can never compete with an alpha lion and yes,, no tonga shall ever occupy plot 1, till they stop their tribalism stance,,, that will take them years to realise that their tribalims stinks worse than that of as cow dung stinks even that of a calf

  9. LET THE LION OF ZAMBIA RULE YOU,,YOU ARE SIMPLE TRIBAL SUBJECTS BA DALA GET USED TO IT

  10. Mr. Kabimba why don’t you advise the president himself to rule according to the constitution and not according to what sits in the grey matter of his brain. I know you are trying to protect your job and you want to continue enjoying the money, but your brain is younger and use it wisely. If i was in PF, i would have taken over your job but I will never join that party.

  11. During the ZNBC TV live interview on Thursday evening, Mr Kabimba claimed that the interest rates had come down to 9% as per PF manifesto. Either the man is being insincere or he is ignorant. The BOZ policy rate of 9% is just a guide, the real interest rates on loans from Zambian commercial banks exceeds 20%. Just as those PF ministers who do not understand the PF manifesto can get guidance from Mr Kabimba he too should get guidance from Dr Gondwe about the meaning of the BoZ policy rate and not mislead us poor ignorant citizens.

  12. l wonder who is morally upright with mad people like this job secker after months behind bars in choma called opps Hamiyanze the fool.Take it or leave it HH is just a step closer to plot one.You are the same people who wanted HH to write and give advise on governance to CPN but what do you aspect from fools like SATA with people like Hamiyanze the crazy.

    • THEN AGAIN YOU TONGAS HAVE BEEN SAYING THAT FOR PAST 3 ELECTIONS,,,YET HIS VOTES ARE GETTING LOWER AND LOWER BA DALA ONLY IN YOUR NGOMBE DREAMS IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN,, MY TRIBE AND THE OTHER 69 TRIBES WILL NEVER ALLOW YOUR KIND IN PLOT 1

    • AND YET HE HAS BEEN REJECTED BY THE ZAMBIAN PEOPLE 3 TIMES,, ONLY IN YOUR DUNG FILLED TONGA HEAD DO YOU SEE HIM AS THE BEST

    • AND YET HE HAS BEEN REJECTED BY THE ZAMBIAN PEOPLE 3 TIMES,, ONLY IN YOUR DUNG FILLED TONGA HEAD DO YOU SEE HIM AS THE BEST

    • AND YET HE HAS BEEN REJECTED BY THE ZAMBIAN PEOPLE 3 TIMES,, ONLY IN YOUR DUNG FILLED TONGA HEAD DO YOU SEE HIM AS THE BEST

  13. Sata and PF should just answer the letters which we all know reffered to specific issues. There was no contempt in the letters. Its not right to suggest that each time the opposition doesnt agree with the gvt then its contemptious.Zambians who can reason know the problem with PF.Lack of consultaions CNP.With consultaions these issues would not have come so public

  16. TONGAS WITH THEIR ANTI-ZAMBIAN GOVT ZWD WILL ALWAYS INSULT OUR DEMOCRATICALLY ELECTED LEADERS,,, LET US JUST IGNORE THEM,, THEY HAVE 20 YEARS OF PF GOVT ENOUGH TIME TO CRY THEMSELVES DRY,,, ONLY TIME WILL TEACH THEM ZAMBIA HAS A DEMOCRATICALLY ELECTED HEAD OF STATE THEIR RANTS ARE BOTH BASELESS AND VERY USELESS INDEED ONE ZAMBIA ONE NATION IT IS ,,, NOT ONE PROVINCE I BEG OOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  17. This PF govt is really a big joke. Does this man ever spend time to think of the trash that comes out of his mouth? Kabimba, do you really think Zambians are that stupid to swallow your cheap lies. If you expect us to go and knee in front of Ukwa CNP for him to listen to our concerns then you are wasting your time. We will continue criticising him in public, infact we enjoy listening to his mad rants when responding to well meant advise from the opposition. This is exactly what we want…Zambians to realise the mistake they made of electing an uncouth illiterate for president. I

  18. @#3Harare Zimbabwe. Why don’t you worry about your president over his frequent trips to the Far East. Mind your own kettle, bwana.

  19. This man is foolish and so are those who are praising and supporting his address. Both HH and Mumba have the right to write and raise issue with what they see as issues of national importance. The behaviour of the head of state is an issue of national importance. The poaching of “corrupt” MMD MP’s is an issue of national importance. What skills has the diploma fraudstar MP got to add to national development? Everyone should know that this is simply a strategy to weaken the MMD and strengthen the PF even if it means loading the boat with so called currupt party members. Grow up and open you eyes and you will see that in fact, it is Sata that demeans himself and the nation.

  20. guys u r all boring!!!!! its only that u seen to be like ur country undeveloped in ur mind , Americans and the west dont give a toss about politics ,dont think politics will help u sort ur mess they r jst enjoying ur ignorance wow!! piss off..

  21. Respect must be earned. Respect others and they will respect you back. The president had no respect for President Mwanawasa. He called him cabbage. He made fun of George Kunda when the man was sick. The list goes on and on….. Why should Kabimba expect people to respect the president today? What goes round comes round. PF started the culture of insults in Zambian politics. It was never there before.

  22. Sata must just learn to respond to real issues opposition presidents raised, PF must learn to accommodate divergent views and must not be allergic to constructive critism . Look at these fuuulish PF bloggers above and down on this comment who will insult me over this comment they can’t debate any issues but oways rush to tribalism tugs like their boss Sata. Who labels anyone anti Bemba as tribalistic. Tongas have a justified reason for being this arrogant ka Chiluba and Sata manipulated and cheated them, southerners supported MMD 99% now that their hearts have been bleached it will take crains to change them, once TONGAZ agree on an issue it is hard to convince them u can’t bribe them .if Sata want to their hearts just take development to their area it can work it worked for mwanawasa

  23. The human body is a complex machine. God has designed the brain such that it is virtually impossible for a BACTERIUM or a VIRUS to penetrate the brain. But if a bacterium or a virus called HIV penetrates the brain barrier then the victims tend to suffer from mental confusion. Symptoms of such psychological development is the progressive loss of logical presentation of facts and FEAR of other people. There is a deep-rooted and well-concealed underlying cause that is prompting Kabimba to issue irrational political statements. The panic mode which is emerging from GBM, Kabimba, Sakeni and Shamenda, as Sata’s close allies, is prompting many Zambians to speculate that the worst is developing behind the curtains at State House.

  24. @ Boondocks///////////////// with your insults bad, backwards manners Ba dala you shall always be subjects,, who is poor the RULERS OR THE SUBJECTS

  25. The writing is and has been on the wall long enough. Mr Sata started it! So this is how it feels?…let him appologise to the people he was insulting and perhaps we can turn on a new leaf, unfortunately some are gone who will take the appology?y

  26. Next time learn to vote wisely. This president is a perpertual embarrassment to himself, his family and the nation at large. His mouth is his own enemy number one. He doesn’t carry himself like a president, he doesn’t talk like one and certainly not respectable. In the minds of the public he will always be what he has always been because he continues to be that way, except he is no longer the KING COBRA he was once perceived to be. Not a giant of a man, at least going by the standard of his own brain. He probably has very little education too. And yet, this is the man you settled for as president of a great nation. What a shame and continual disgrace! The international community is already becoming weary of him too. He has been in the headlines for bad and not for good things.

  27. Mphangwe @ 31

Thanks for the enlightening observation. That to me makes sense. Indeed there’s no smoke without fire.

  28. Narrant @ 34 Zimbabweans are as much concerned about Sata as they are about their dinosaur president Robert Gabriel Mugabe. I concur with them because your sick president has become Mugabe’s number one puppet. It goes to show that this person you call Sata is not only sick physically but also mentally. Many Zimbabweans are infuriated over his alleged involved in their internal affairs. He can afford to go to Zimbabwe and in an opposition stronghold like Bulawayo and campaign openly for Mugabe and his archaic ZANU PF. The fact that Mugabe’s part ends with PF (Patriotic Front) and Sata’s is also PF (Patriotic Front) is not merely coincidental. Could this be what Mugabe referred to recently as “siamese twins”? Try to be realistic and not sound like mentally sick Sata.

  29. RB never went abroad for medical check-up, he was strong and energetic, We miss him dearly.
Sata nicknamed Mwanawasa cabbage, RB Nyama soya…What respect is Winter Kabimba talking about? Zambians must learn to vote wisely…

  30. First of, why is Wynter Speaking for the President, doesn’t the president have a Public Relations spokesperson?

Second, the President should not make it easy for people to demean him — i.e. he should consult stakeholders, do background check on statements he makes etc.

  31. Actually it was Sata’s responces to the two letters most people found demeaning to the office of the president. I mean, that is thug language synonymous with Katondo street lumpens. If he needs respect from anyone, he better start behaving like a grown up adult, not a thug clown.

  32. Nice weblog here! Also your site rather a lot up very fast! What web host are you the use of? Can I am getting your affiliate link in your host? I desire my site loaded up as fast as yours lol.

  33. Mr Kabimba: Respect is earned by your conduct. It is H.E. President Sata who has been demeaning Zambians in Botswana, UK, here in Zambia like on HH, Pukuta Mwanza, Litunga etc.

  34. Thank you for the blog post. Jones} and I have been saving to get a new guide on this theme and your writing has made people like us to save our money. Your thinking really responded to all our issues. In fact, over what we had thought of prior to when we came across your great blog. I actually no longer nurture doubts and a troubled mind because you truly} attended to the needs in this post. Thanks

  35. By what we do and say, we can add or subtract from ourselves. Once we have made a habit of subtracting from ourselves, then the onus is on us to earn the respect of our subjects. Its stops being a given anymore!

  36. Blogging against PF, KABIMBA, SATA, GRZ will not win Plot 1 for HUNGRY HYNA, NOR FAKE PASTOR.
This is is the way most of yu blogged against Sata and PF, but you scums lost to uneducated Sata!
    Empty tins make more noise!
Mind you SATA is clever than the educated HH and Never put together.

  37. The only difference between the MMD in and out of office is the amount of damage they can do to the country.

But then again, what do you expect from a party that is now officially led by a clapped out televangelist like Nevers Mumba?

All they know is to abuse the state, the economy and the people. So what kind of opposition are they supposed to be?

This, by the way, is not aimed at Zambians, in fact these salvos are aimed over the heads of the Zambian people, to towards the donors and regime change artists. You should check more into Robert Amsterdam, and his firms listing at Chatham House.

    Google: robert amsterdam land destroyer

  38. meanwhile keep on insulting him, he is our president and we shall never regret having voted for him. MAN OF ACTION. TRUE LEADER

  39. Kanyanta is useless ,who does he think can listen to hopeless advice.“Do onto others as u expect them to do onto u“ Mr Secretary General of a Useless PF government.!

  40. THE PRESIDENT IS VERY DISREPECTFUL HIMSELF TOWARDS PEOPLE. THEY ARE JUST FOLLOWING BY HIS EXAMPLE. LEADERS LEAD BY EXAMPLE RIGHT !?!?!

  41. Nice weblog right here! Also your site rather a lot up very fast! What host are you the use of? Can I get your affiliate hyperlink to your host? I desire my site loaded up as fast as yours lol
