Government has asked the Zambia Information and Communication Authority -ZICTA- to come up with legislation to protect people who fall victim of INTERNET misuse.
Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Services Permanent Secretary Amos Malupenga says internet in Zambia has continued to be used for wrong reasons.
Officially opening a four day stakeholders meeting on the Information for All Program -IFAP- in Lusaka on Tuesday, Mr. Malupenga said increasing access to information should come with care and caution.
Mr. Malupenga who is also incoming chair of IFAP has stated that the program has come at a time when government has placed information for all high on its development agenda.
He has also pledged his ministry’s commitment to ensuring its success.
ZICTA Director General Margret Mudenda pledged her organization’s commitment in creating a safe environment for internet users.

They will struggle to do so though. China has managed but with limited difficulty – they have blocked many sites including facebook and they forced Google to modify its algorith not to allow certain words to be searched on the search engine…will they enlist Chinas engenuity in clumping down freedom of expression?

The amount that countries like China spend on blocking the dissermination of information is colossal and wont warrant such intentions in Zambia. Try it and you are bound to fail.
