The Patriotic Front (PF) Kabwata Constituency has filed a petition demanding the immediate removal of area Member of Parliament Given Lubinda as their representative.
In a petition handed over to PF Lusaka District chairperson, Goodson Banda, in Lusaka yesterday, Kabwata Constituency chairperson David Silubanji denounced Mr Lubinda accusing him of failing the Constituency.
The embattled Foreign Affairs Minister faces disciplinary action for alleged treachery after PF Secretary General and Justice Minister Wynter Kabimba gave him a seven-day ultimatum to exculpate himself which had since elapsed.
“We have decided to recall and withdraw our support from Hon. Given Lubinda to be our MP following reasons that require further investigation so that ultimately power remains with people and allegiance of members to the party and not a dishonest individual,” Mr Silubanji said.
Mr Silubanji accused Mr Lubinda of not visiting his Constituency to perform and participate in party activities since being re-elected as MP last year.
He alleged that Mr Lubinda had not been helpful to the party on empowerment in areas such as job creation projects and skills training.
His also disclosed that Mr Lubinda had withdrawn financial support to the operations and management of the Constituency.
Other reasons cited, were Mr Lubinda’s alleged involvement in manipulating the election of district officials and influencing ward councilors not to respect and work with the party.
“His continued dark corner friendship with UPND, MMD, other individuals and groupings that threatens the confidentiality of our privileges as members of the PF and his decision to include relatives and friends who are not PF officials to go for training abroad at the expense of our members who fought for the 2011 election victory,” he added.
Mr Silubanji further accused Mr Lubinda of selfishness in the manner he acquiring a piece of land and that the plot had now expanded and was encroaching on land reserved for roads.
He said Mr Lubinda had no formal relationship with PF structures and organs and had refused to attend constituency meetings.
“We ask for divorce to be granted and thank you for listening to us,” Mr Silubanji said.
The petition was also expected to reach President Michael Sata, Mr Kabimba and the central committee.
And receiving the petition, Mr Banda promised to forward the petition through the laid down structures of the PF.
“This should be a lesson to all the MPs that they should be visiting their Constituencies. I will take the petition through the laid-down procedure so that it is heard,” Mr Banda said.
Mr Lubinda is accused of leaking vital PF information to online publications as well as collaboration with the troubled opposition MMD and United Party for National Development (UPND).

What is intelligence? A very wide topic indeed, and it even leads to radicalism, for better and for worse. I believe in change. Change ever happens, one can personally initiate change, or change can be caused by others. In nature change cannot be brought about by environmental issues like weather, volcano, flooding, etc. In Politics change can come about at personal level by oneself, or being forced by others to change. I have never known a man who is all round intelligent, knowing everything. One can be good at science, languages, human relations, mathematics, biology social, political, etc but no man can claim to be intelligent in all. In some areas someone can be an ***** but only saved by other spheres where he is good. That is reality. Failure to conform to norms is failure.
There are no recall elections in Zambia, but we will support Lubinda anyway.

This petition is highly suspicious because it is coming immediately after the exculpatory letter Lubinda wrote from Malabo in Equatorial Guinea over the weekend. I suspect this petition to be the work of Kabimba. Kabimba bears a grudge against Lubinda after he was eclipsed at the last PF Convention when the two were bidding for the position of Secretary General of the PF. Kabimba hasn’t forgotten this and wants Lubinda out of the party because he is greatest threat to his aspirations for the PF presidency. These petitioners are Kabimba’s foot soldiers.

The fact is tha Michael Sata does not want PF to succeed after he leaves office and retires. Sata does not want anybody to over-shadow his legacy… So all he wants is for PF to disintegrate by the time elections come so that people remember Sata as the only PF president who was intelligent and strong enough to lead the PF party in unity. Do not underrate Sata’s vision and role in this ridiculous public conflict going on in PF. A president who is serious and loves his party and wants it to succeed in future cannot allow such things to happen publicly. Sata is a very selfish man and I know he will be the happiest man to see PF fail to win the next elections in 2016, after he retires.

How nice if people would organize themselves this quickly to file petitions over things that really matter such as mealie meal prices, fuel shortages, ZESCO power cuts, filth in our cities, failure to reduce corruption, street vendors clogging our roads, flash flooding due to rubbish being strewn about, abuse of the public order act, and so many other things that matter more than PF in-fighting.

The looks of Sata and Kabimba represent the kind of leadership PF is comfortable with to work, scheme evil work. Sad development i see PF loosing election in 2016. The party is falling apart, kicking our genuine politicians like Hon Lubinda and embracing lawless ministers. If MMD can put Felix Mutati as Presidential candidate i see the PF loosing, in fact this might also a a good chance for HH in 2016.

Even with me having a passionate dislike of the PF i think the party apparatchiks are doing themselves great harm messing with Lubinda.He is the most rational,respectable and widely appealing person in the ruling party.I wud cross party lines to vote for this respectable man whether he is PF,UPND,MMD or any briefcase party.
