Renowned medical practitioner Francis Manda says MP’s resigning from their political parties are behaving like Hyenas searching for faeces.
The outspoken Urologist said it is unacceptable that selfish politicians could be allowed to waste public resources on unnecessary bye elections.
“They are behaving exactly like Hyenas, these are animals that go about looking for faeces. The MP’s ditching their parties are like Hyenas looking for fecal excreta,” Dr. Manda said.
Dr. Manda was speaking Saturday morning during his popular radio show “Manzi Therapy” on ZNBC Radio 4.
He said Zambia is a country with meager resources for development programmes adding that spending huge amounts of money on bye elections which could be avoided is unacceptable.

Dr. Manda supported proposals that the new constitution should include provisions that will enable the party nominate a candidate to see out the remainder of the term in an event that the MP crosses the floor.
“We cannot continue with defections at this rate. We need these constitutional changes in order to protect public funds,” Dr. Manda said.
He also appealed to political parties to exhibit maturity and settle down in 2013.
“We saw a lot of bickering in all parties including the ruling one in 2012. We don’t need such in 2013. These political parties need to learn to resolve issues amicably.”
Dr. Manda said infighting in political parties contributed to the lack of development in 2012.
“We didn’t see any meaningful development in the past year because politicians were busy bickering. Let us start politics in 2016 and not now when Zambians want development.”
I agree with the doctor, these people luck principals. It is unfortunate that the President himself encourages this nonsense, it doesn’t seem to bother him to hold these elections every three months. Zambian should avoid voting back these people, let us create an environment which will be painful so these people can learn a lesson. I wish the doctor can be the next President, we are tired of these people who don’t seem to have a plan for the country.

But the bigger problem is with both the ruling and opposition parties. Where as the ruling partiy prefersd the status quo for obvious reasons of increasing their numbers in parliament so that they can pass their bills and avoiding an impeachment process, the opposition parties also want the status quo for future use if elected in government. If they were against that wouldn’t they have raised a motion in parliament to change the law now when they are still majority? It is hypocrytical for them to continue blaming the ruling party when they can’t demonstrate to us by raising a motion to amment the law in this respect. The number one job of parliamentarians is to make laws as suggested by their constituencies and parties that will fcreate an enabling environment for development.

Politic is a game of wits. MMD did it with PF MPs and ensured these MPs were protected by the so called courts of law. You talk of black mail? How and why should be black mailed? This is the doctor who plays know-it-all on some program. His English is really bad and he has derogatory language toward other professionals. This man does not know much about medicine and offers generic solutions for specific queries. This gentleman is a technocrat but has an itching desire to enter politics or at least be close to the game. Truth be told, he is one disgruntled man and assumes he has the solutions for everything. One, he must realize that he does not understand aspects that go into medicine such as finance and strategy. He forgets that a perfect medical system cannot prevail with socialistic policies.

Manda is indeed disgruntled, for him to make such an insulting comment, first needs to look at himself – He & his wife belonged to different parties, she, a minister – their marriage split about that time – Politics shouldn’t lead to marriage breakups!! It may have not been everything, but sure did contribute!! Secondly, for a person with his educational attainment, one would realise that the first principle of Democracy, is the freedom to choose a party one wants to belong!!! Am sure some poor villagers have a better grasp of this than he does!

Peace and Prosperity to Mother Zambia.
The principle reason for people resigning as MPs and crossing over is the lack of ideologies in all parties. Once you have no ideology you swing like leaf on water which moves according to direction of wind. Many Zambian politicians have no ideology they believe in. Ideologies make people stable in their political thinking. This is the only main reason why politics in western world only have two parties sharing power over years. The only competition they have between them is fighting to be in the middle between extreme capitalism and extreme socialism/communism. So as long as our politicians and their supporter don’t base their political thinking on ideology and its principles, ours are loose people and will ever swing between parties.
Bye elections should only be held in case of death. In case of resignation, outgoing MP should be barred from standing for that life of parliament while 2nd best should automatically take over. President should appoint ministers from outside parliament.
But what will stop ruling when they are 2nd best to buy off opposition incumbent MPs like Sikwela (to resign) so that they have more seats?

We need solutions that introduce individual integrity and principles in Zambia? We need people who see politics as a calling to serve the people and not to enrich themselves.
The best way to bring about these changes is not really through some laws that will bring about lasting transparency and accountability.
1. Start by curbing the powers of the President
2. Make ACC a truly independent organisation with ‘teeth’
3. Reduce the salaries and packages of these MPs and politicians in general so their motivation is not money
4. Educate the electorates so they stopped listening to lies and being easily bribed
5. Make ECZ a truly independent organisation with ‘teeth’
6. Ban anyone who resigns from contesting on a ruling party platform.

Hyenas are better bcoz they can go hunting. Here is my one solution, whoever came second in the general election for that particular constituency should immediately take the MP position bcoz he/she was elected but came short of the victory. Don`t allow the ruling party to pick a replacement that will mean undemocratic process. A resigning PM should swallow the pain of quitting his people. Sata is useless, some of us in diaspora were happy to see him win but it has become a disaster for the whole country. Sata has NO direction or leadership skills to lead the nation. He promised small Govt but its ballooning everyday. Creating districts, province and gov ministries & all the nuisance you can think of. Is Manda still in the UPND? Strong words coming from someone whose marriage disintegrated because his wife belonged to a different party than the one he belonged to and it was in the papers. We had more by-elections under MMD and no one was complaining when the opposition was being squeezed, most opposition parties went under during MMD because they used to buy MP’s from smaller parties and caused unnecessary by-elections and most parties ended up with no representatives in parliament. The hour has passed, no law was broken by resigning, they should just face the reality of democracy, not manzi therapy!

The Doc is right. What do the hyenas enjoy most? Bones or amafi? They are known for excreting hot feaces because of the bones they eat.
Dr Manda is one of the worst husband anyone can imagine of. He used to be Prof Luo husband always drunk and urinating in clothes. His unstable mental state due to alcohol has always landed him in serious problems both in work and social life. Yes he is educated but brainless. He joined Miyanda political party after being divorced by Prof Luo due to uncceptable behaviour. Very embarassing even during Chiluba reign he used to make unwarranted remarks. Thank God despite making mistakes operating innocent patients and dying he is still practicing.If it the developed world . He would have been investigated and sacked for operating under the influence of ALCOHOL.
