Post bus accidents
Post bus accident that claimed 50 lives

At least over 50 people have died in a road traffic accident that occurred this morning on the Great North Road.

The accident happened around 07 hours in Chibombo district after a 70 sitter Post bus heading to Lusaka from Ndola collided with a truck.

Police spokesperson Elizabeth Kanjela confirmed the development to QFM News in a telephone interview.

By broadcast time, Ms. Kanjela could however not give out further details about the exact number of people confirmed dead as some bodies were still trapped in the wreckage of the bus.

And a source told QFM news that only 10 people have survived the accident while rescue efforts to retrieve the trapped bodies are underway.

The bodies of the deceased have been taken to Liteta hospital mortuary, while the ten survivors of the accident are being treated for injuries at the same hospital.

This could be one of the worst road traffic accidents the country has recorded.

  1. THIS MUST HAVE BEEN AN OVER SPEEDING CASE ON BOTH DRIVERS.

RTSA MUST TAKE FURTHER MEASURES TO BRING ABOUT SAFETY TO THE TRAVELING PUBLIC.

THIS IS ONE OF THE WORST DAYS IN THE HISTORY OF OUR COUNTRY. MAY THEIR SOULS RIEP.

    • Even drivers are extremely mad over PF government, the all atmosphere in Zambia is just like breaking things.
      – Driver can’t concentrate when babies are crying of hunger. No meal meal.
      – Mothers are crying because their daughters have been slaughtered by PF charm hunters.
      – Men are calling friends, , no one to take pick them from station because taxi drivers have been shot.
      – The rest are tearing off The Post Newspaper because of images of Kabimba.
      What a country man.
Now look, they are even posting pictures of souls!! No respect what so ever.

    • iwe chikala nostrudamus panyo pako . This is no fora for you to be politing about . This a is tragic event and all you can do is to open that dirty trap of yours and vomit gabage growup. May the Souls of those involved rest in peace this could have been avoided.

    • we are told a certain priest who campaigned for PF made deadily sacrifice and we need to pray to remove this curse from our land other wise more sacrifices may continue under PF we need a national prayer day.

    • You are right Masala market no avarage thinking person would politicise such a calamity.

Unfortunately common-sense is not very common.

May the souls of our departed sisters and brothers rest in peace.

Thank you to the hard working journalist for sharing this story

    • Nostradamus, can you please apologise to the families you have upset and ask the editor to remove your comment.

Apologising is a sign of strength not weakness thank you

    • We need to dual carriage way roads. The developed countries avoided such calamities by making interstate roads and high ways dual carriage ways. Zambia has it stands will continue having such accidents as long as we have single lane roads. May the soul of the dead rest in peace.

    • Somebody asked me to apologize, that’s alright I will do so, and make peace with my God.
If any family or friends affected in that tragedy are offended in anyway, I APOLOGIZE.
But remember that we are different people, and we mourn in different ways. Some are already mu ng’anga some are fighting… yes again that’s was my way of mourning.
But whoever sent one of those pictures must be sued by some concerned families or apologise.

    • This is not about over-speeding bwana. If I get it correctly the track driver should simply have kept his lane and hit the oncoming cruiser than swerve to the bus’s lane in avoided

    • This is an extremely shocking, poignant, gloomy and sad and heartbreaking situation. The sheer number of lives that have needlessly been lost stabs the heart.

The pictures of mangled and twisted heap of metal with bodies on the road is so painful to look at.

How could this happen? Why dont we take preventive and corrective measures to avoid such carnage from happening again?

There is an urgent need to make our roads safe to stop such slaughter!! I propose the immediate construction of a dual carriage way from Chililabombwe to Livingstone and all the towns in between

If there is always money for by-elections govt must find money to save lives even if it means borrowing from IMF or world bank!!

May the souls of the departed rest in eternal peace

    • In the days of Levy and RB peolpe would have said it is a sacrifice, but why this time do you say you are politicising the accident? Yes, a priest during campaigns did a deadly sacrice and now the spirit wants to be paid their dues. Now they are claiming what should be theirs. Poor Finishers at work. HEMCS is not an angel ifact he is worse than any other president we have ever had.

  2. When are we going to learn to put national interests ahead of self? These accidents reflect the negligence in our road safety standards due to corrupt activities. We licence drivers without testing them, drivers have no due care while on the road carrying precious souls – there must be something big that is wrong somewhere. Why, why should people keep losing their beloved ones because of this negligence on the part of drivers and government law enforcement agencies. Please lets change as a country and change NOW!

    • Stop commenting such nonsense here, some families have lost dear loved ones and breadwinners and the government has nothing to do with this tragedy. Go back and continue drinking your liquor or nursing your hangover. This is a wrong platform for you and your accusations.
You were not there and you do not have any clues about the causality of the accident. Good day and leave us. We are moaning right now.

    • @Boom & Whatever… Surely you cannot say nobody should be blamed for this kind of accident!? Road accidents have been on a steep increase since last year. There must be something wrong going on & it is the duty of a sitting government to care for its citizenry and stop this dangerous trend. You may have lost relatives in this one but wouldn’t you wish no more of your relatives perished the same way again and again?

    • Boom and Whatever, I would like you to show me what was wrong with my comment and how you can associate that comment with liquor and hangover. Honestly if you have personal problems then don’t transfer them to others, unless you are seeking help. Show where I went wrong.

  3. very, very sad indeed may the Lord comfort the bereaved families.pliz brothers and sisters those that are helping out dont steal from the dead!!!

  4. Shame, please, God be with the families of both the dead and survivors of this tragedy. This is very bad indeed. Let us observe a minute of silence for Zambians.

  5. Get your facts right before you utter anything. This was a clear case of a small car trying to overtake the bus and the truck driver trying to avoid the car and ending up with a head on. It is a sad story and please be human and be sobber in your utterances. Its time to mourn with our colleagues who have been affected.

    Regards humanist

  6. please tell PF to stop sacrificing people ..very soon time will catch up with you guys..innocent souls lost..why coz of by elections..?you are so heartless..

    • what is this sacrificing nonsense every Tonga wants to attribute recent calamities to? PF is in power so what sacrifice? & for what? you are worried about your HH instead of mourning with the bereaved families……every death that occurs, you Tonga fulls want to find an opportunity to campaign for HH & disrespect the elected government….you are disgusting to say the least!! ATASE! ever heard of the 1970 Mufulira disaster? the Chambishi & Kafironda Explosives disaster? the manenekela disasters? the many train disasters? the list is endless…& all of them happened way way before PF was formed as a party….SO SHUT THE FCUK UP OK!

    • kolwe………………….u *****,u will burn in hell u bloody monkey for bringing the name of the incoming president into ur nonesense, sha!!!!!!!!!!!!bitter dog!!!

    • Anybody who is bringing politics into this sad occurence is an imbecile. Perhaps it should have been you on that bus! You dont deserve to be alive you *****s.

    • This is one of the conditions given to HH and his fellow freemasons by the devil for him to Ascend to republican Presidency. He has been told to Sacrifice the blood of Zambians

    • People from all walks of life have past on in this calamity, regardless of tribe, age , colour. So pliz lets mourn peacefully without introducing politics or tribalism in this.
      Sad day indeed.

  7. Oh my my God!
Traumatic! LT warn us please before you show some of the pictures? otherwise, very saddening indeed, rest in peace.

  8. I know someone who was on this bus, and just waiting to hear if he will pull through God willing….

But this is the info i got though its sketchy

    – It was raining, and knowing most Zambian drivers, either both didn’t reduce their speed to the situation (Poor visibility, slippery road) or one of them didn’t and found themselves in the other lane, but usually when one of you is slow enough, you can attempt to avoid a head on collision

    – this happened at a sort of a blind spot.

And imagine, i almost put someone on a bus today, and most likely, i would have taken them to the Post.

All in all, we have talked about this before. and we shall continue talking about this over and over again.

    1. This to me looks like a basic rule broken. When its raining, slow down!

    • My cousin was on the bus too, she’s one of the 15 survivors. she sustained head n leg injuries. The family is trying to move her to Lusaka as we speak.

  9. This is truly sad day in the history of Zambia, may the souls of the departed rest in peace and God provide solace to all directly affected families.

  10. MTSRIP.. We need speed traps in our busy roads, RTSA you can do better, while roads are being rehabilitated enforcement of traffic rules especially on public transport is most important. At the moment one can drive at any speed from Mwami boarder in Chipata up to Lusaka minus being subjected to any speed control, from Nakonde to Lusaka, Lusaka to Livingstone.. Besides weigh bridges are rare on most of our major roads, markings are faded if not absent, sign posts are either absent or missing, no safety is guaranteed by RATSA, Driving in the night is a risky business.. But money for Road Tax and Driving Licenses is being collected on a daily basis..

    • Very true are road network is pathetic to say the least. No proper markings, sign post etc. If you see the kitwe chingola road you only drive at nite when its necessary and at a reduced speed there are mini rivers and not potholes and the Govt is not even corcerned. working on potholes is a problem but money is found or always there for by elections and to fly them out when they are sick. Too bad indeed and MTSRIP.

  11. This situation is very bad; I am in touch with a friend who is on site just now. Another problem has been created by “impatient Zambian drivers” who have taken both the right and left lanes in both direction. Even when the wrecks are removed from the roads, it will take long for traffica to start flowing. May Their Souls rest in peace.

  12. 2. Regardless of who made the blunder here, the situation of drivers in Zambia is a BAD one. just look at how almost everyone drives on a daily basis…its a sad state. i see people cruise past tight spaces, and don’t even bother to reduce speeds,… You can see the 10 basic rules of driving been broken everyday

    3. its not tough to get a license in Zambia. Therefore half baked drivers are filled the roads with alteeza’s and the like.

    4. Others don’t learn driving the ideal way, hence no care for traffic rules.

    5. our roads are bad

    6. Driving is not a neccessity, its also a means of showing other drivers that you are “the man” behind the wheel. We have heard of people bragging that they do Ndola – kitwe in 7 minutes.

    SO SAD!!

  13. It’s such a shame that some people rushed to the scene to search dead bodies for gadgets and cash.

  14. O’ gosh! Abantu baonaika bafulisha mwebantu. Twalalosha nshani fwe bena Ndola? This is really sad news. Already my workmate’s sister inlaw was on board and it’s the police who are answering her phone advising relatives to just travel there. Mwe Lesa!!!!!!!

  15. LT has serious language problems. How do you write “At least over 50”? It should either be “At least 50″ or ” Over 50″. MTSRIP.

    • 9mm, don’t make yourself look like same kind of an angel. You do notice that i said MTSRIP. I use that road at least twice a month i simply couldn’t find words to express my shock. May be you wanted me to point an accusing finger at someone as being behind the accident? grow up i don’t live by your grace i live by the Grace of God.

  16. Too Sad and most of them were mothers. Ba RTSA pls come up with a lot of preventive measures this time. Where will the travelling public ran to if Post Buses are timeously getting involved in the road cannage? I think Govt should ban bus operators who put time of arrival to the next station on all operators charts for this also force drivers to speed so as to catch up with time if they are late leading to some accidents en route.

  17. Very Sad indeed. Fellow motorists lets take care on the road. peoples lives have been cut short all because of one silly mistake. my sympathy goes to their families. Such a pity.

  18. My sincere condolences to the believd families of the deceased. i pray that God may give them the strength in this time of pain n trial

  19. May the souls of the departed rest in eternal peace. I urge GRZ to declare a national mourning to remember the departed. This is a sad thing and lets be sober and not politicise death and finger pointing.

  20. The bible says “Justice exalteth a nation: but sin maketh nations miserable.’Proverbs 14:34 .
Our nation has been sold to the devil and the sooner we wake up from the slumber brethlen the better.
“if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
“.It’s time to seek the faCe of the lord for the nation.ARISE BRETHLEN !

    • Mr brother we need to pray but let us sort out these root causes. 1) The increase in the number of motor of vehicles on our roads, especially the dot coms. 2) Our roads are very bad; 3)We have a lot of unqualified drivers on our roads

  21. This is truely bad, this really bad. Losing all the 50 souls, lets keep our mouths shut and commit our friends who have lost their beloved ones in God’s hands, pray for them for nothing by passes God’s eyes.

  22. ooooh My God! Jesus – this is really terrible. Very sad indeed. When a dual carriage way quickly from Livingstone to Kasumbalesa. Awe cabipa mwe!

May the souls rest in peace.

  23. I hear phones of the deceased are ringing from relatives who are trying to reach them. It is so sad. A dark cloud has befallen our nation. Just wondering if any Government official rushed to the accident scene to show some concern.

  24. This should also save as a warning to those who like wishing other people dead, that nay one can die any time regardless of their health status. Those people were full of life and no one knew they were going to die in such a horrific accident

  25. Iyeeeeeh! Oh my God!!! I feel for the families involved and we pray for them…. so sad indeed!! Please, drivers, take care of the innocent passangers u carry when u are on the road because they depend on you!! I almost died along Kafue Road because of one careless driver who was over-speeding, lost his lane …coz of drunkeness and before I could dodge him…I heard a loud bang!! It was a head-on collision!!!! May God deliver us!

  26. If it was RB & George Kunda they could have lead all nation in morning. But with Sata & Kabimba, none of them will shed a tear.
The only leaders who will mourn with people are:
HH please please help feed the mourners.
Nevers Mumba, lead the nation in prayers.
Guy Scot & GBM (PF), please help with transport and beg, beg, beg as usual from Sata to declared a national mourning week.

    • Now i see why this ***** called nostradamus is being called names, how dare you politicize this tragic accident? please we are on our knees dont be foolish your friends are mourning and all you can say is fyototofyototo may God help your sick soul, learn to be remorseful, if you have nothing to say on this forum please keep that filthy mouth of yours closed or you will invite the wrath God.
To my beloved families that have lost sisters, brothers, mothers and fathers, we are mourning with you and our prayers are that God grant you the comfort.

  27. Sata’s insatiable appetite for blood continues. Kanshi Ba mudala, when is your thirsty goona be quenched?. This is too much.

  28. RTSA should go back to check on the buses that have speed limit monitors. In so many buses that i have used very few seem to have speed limit monitors. My the souls of the departed rest in peace.

  29. Zambia needs serious prayers until 2016 or even after. The church must travail for Zambia, God will hold the church accountable over the happenings over Zambia because he has given the church the authority in Jesus name to stop this and all similar happenings.

  30. I am sorry this has happened, please accept my deepest condolences this is only second to the plane disaster in 1993 with the football players.
I am sorry this has happened; I join all of you in mourning.

    I couldn’t be more upset.

    Thanks

    • ITS nice of you mushota u are human enough but we are told a certain priest who campaigned for PF made deadily sacrifice and we need to pray to remove this curse from our land other wise more sacrifices may continue under PF we need a national prayer day.

  31. A dark cloud has hang over Zambia again. MTSRIEP and may the injured recover at the soonest so they can continue to contribute to Zambia’s development.

I feel for the families that have lost their loved ones. May the Almighty give them strength to pull through this.

It is sad that some people are so simple minded that to everything they see politics. Let us know when to play politics and when not…that shows maturity.

  32. I think its time we started expanding our roads, especially major ones like the Great North Road into dual carriage ways, of course its a expensive venture but not compared the human lives that are being lost every day. Cant believe that almost 50 years after independence roads are still the same the colonial masters left them.

    • I agree with you. If only our politicians can avoid creating unnecessary by-elections, we can save a lot of money which can then be used to expand our major roads into dual carriage ways. But disappointingly, these these PF thugs are busy creating by-elections at the expense of development. In short, people will continue to die in road accidents because of poor leadership at the higher level.

  33. PLS Make DUAL CARRIAGE WAYS. Its the only solution for Zambias busiest Highway. We can NOT Continue to lose lives like this!!!!

  34. The Chibombo accident is a sad news to all Zambians! More than 50 people dead in one single accident is 50 people less in the development of the country. Drivers should be conscious of the fact that their speed limits are regulated with or without traffic officers monitoring them, especially public transport vehicles. The Lusaka – Kabwe road is known to be slipperly, especially when it has rained, as was the night before the accident. Let government put strict measures to punish erroring drivers!!

  35. The easy way out is to blame the driver/s and over speeding but that will not prevent the death on our roads. As a nation we need be serious and address these issue. In a country where its easy to hold a parliamentary by-election than to mend a pot hole on the road, easier to be a president of some party that to get a job as a security guard such are the results

  36. May the Lord cleanse our land with the blood of Jesus Christ from all defilement and pollutement. May the light of Jesus Christ shine in our nation, may the people not live in fear, may they enjoy the blessings they once knew. Jesus we cry to you over Zambia intervene for the sake of salvation of souls who do not you, people cannot be dying like this some without knowing you. Lord intervene in our land fight battles known and unknown to the physical eyes for the sake of the Godly declaration over this land and for the sake of salvation over people who do not know you in Zambia arise in your majesty and in your mighty power.

  37. This is sad news indeed! Its not time to finger point who was wrong, but truck drivers drive very fun on the road.
    MTSRIEP.

  38. This Fatherless Frank Bwalya took the country in a wrong direction. Catholic Bishops can you come to the aid of the country? All this is happening because of one of your own.
This mad Bwalya has even been repaid by a position on the ZESCO Board.
He must be feasting on human blood which he later sends to keep his boss alive! You can’t expect God’s mercy when you assume power by cheating and bloody sacrifices of beheading his creatires like chickens during rallies. Sata must travel to the accident with immediate effect and drink the blood of the victims of the john chinena accident

    • you are an *****, why must you think that all this is our president behind it? you make lough and you make think that you are the one who is a satanist!!!
Please in the name of God could you kindly tone your stupid utterances and focus on helping those that are affected , how dare you politicize this tragic day you fool, i think in as much as we would want to respect your opinion this is not time to utter rubbish here, grow up. my prayer is that God touch you today and change you rotten mind, may God almighty help you sick soul. Have respect to the Leaders, so to you the time the Zambia national perished in Gabon, it was Chiluba who sacrificed and when our young boys in kawambwa perished it was Mwanawasa the list is endless please nakupapata STOP IT ALREADY.

  39. this is sad!!! i cant concetrate on anything from the time i heard this news today, indeed we are visitors in this world, our friends were here yesterday today they are no more… Now is the tym to repent friends do not wait for 2moro to receive salvation now and secure your life after death. May Our Lord Jesus Christ Comfort everyone mourning their beloved ones in this national tragedy, Tulibalendo Muno Chalo.

  40. In Zambia we ve some of the world’s most dangerous roads. Most of our them have no night navigation markings, no road signs, nothing. Despite this terrible carnage, I still hail our drivers as some of the best around. I mean we drive without any aided markings in most roads. Talk to South African truck drivers that drive through our roads, they can’t believe how we get around without any basic road markings. This is truelly tragic! Put politics aside for once people! When one family grieves, all of us must join as a mark of respect.

  41. Accidents dont just happen; there is always a chain of catastrophic failures in the system that manifest themselves into accidents.
Around the world nations have build good roads; and I mean “minimum” dual carriage ways to as to improve driver safety. They have trained their drivers well; and they punish reckless driving very harshly. Ask yourself the question: Has this been the case in Zambia? If no; then you realise that the incidence could happen to any one of us that use those roads. 13.8m people with such mediocre transport network and you expect to have no accidents? RTSA cannot stop it; Traffic police cannot stop it; it has to take a strategic implementation of road construction; at a deligent pace for the next 20 years. May their souls rest in peace.

  42. this is so sad my day is ruined.i think the cause of so many accidents is the nature of the roads in zambia, overtaking causes 60% of road accidents. Most of over roads have blind spots.too bad indeed

  43. OOH YES YOU GOOD FOR NOTHING ZAMBIANS YOU LIKE TALKING AND TALKING BUT LITTLE ACTION COMES OUT OF YOUR TALKING.YOU HAVE BEEN TALKING ABOUT THE NEED FOR DUAL CARRIAGE FOR SOME TIME,NOW THAT AN ACCIDENT HAS HAPPENED THAT WHEN YOU SEE THE IMPORTANCE OF HAVING A DUAL ROAD FROM SOLWEZI TO CHIRUNDU.
BUT THE TALKING WILL CONTINUE AFTER BURIAL AND NO ACTION WILL BE DONE. THE VISIBITY STUDY OF ADUAL ROADWILL BE DONE BUT NOTHING WILL COME OUT.PEOPLE WILL CONTINUE TO PERISH THROUGH FATAL ACCIDENTS AND ALL YOU WILL DO IS TALK.

YOU WILL CONTINUE TO LOSE YOUR LOVED ONES AND BREADWINNERS.
EVEN WHEN WE LOSE A PRESIDENT IN AN ACCIDENT LIKE THIS, ALL WHAT GOOD FOR NOTHING ZAMBIANS WILL DO IS JUST TALK.

    GOOD FOR NOTHING ZAMBIANS!!!!

  44. So sad to lose all these souls. I am told the cause is the Landcruiser that was trying to overtake a truck. May the driver of the cruiser be apprehended quickly if he is not among the dead. This is a National Tragedy!

  45. ATLEAST 50 people have died in syria since the civil war began more than 4000 people have died including innocent children in short we as drivers and people entrusted to ferry passengers to their respected destinations should be making bold and couragers decisions on the road respect other road users by slowing down atfer the land cruiser was over taking would have saved all the 50 souls that have being lost .
may their souls rest in peace.

  46. Ooh No, this is really sad for the country, Lord Help Zambia. The President should declare a state funeral with Flags at Half Mast. Our Condolences and Prayers to families of the victims. THAT GREAT NORTH ROAD NEEDS TO BE A DUAL CARRAIGE WAY. Traffic has increase on the route. VERY SAD FOR THE NATION

  47. jehova mwari wangu!! tinomibongo mwari, regerai vanu varikufamba ko tora banu bakashaika kuti mube nabo!! father give the family the strenght & confort during this trying moment. I pray that u heal the survivors in Jesus’ name.

  48. MAY THE LORD GIVE ENOUGH STRENGTH TO FAMILIES THAT HAVE LOST THEIR BELOVED ONES IN THIS ACCIDENT AS THEY PASS THIS TRYING MOMENT. LET THEM LEAN ON YOUR SHOULDER, A SHOULDER THAT NEVER GETS TIRED.

  49. THIS IS VERY SAD NEWS. STOP POLITICISING THIS, 50 IS A LOT OF PEOPLE FOR ZAMBIA, YOU MAY JUST DISCOVER LATER THAT YOU ARE DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY AFFECTED BY THIS ACCIDENT. THIS IS NO SMALL MATTER. PIPO GROW UP!

  50. Always nut cases who think its fun to poke fun at a tragedy. It is sad that some people have a very sick way of commenting on serious issues.Looking at some comments, I feel that the mental healthy of our nation has really declined. If Americans can call for increase in mental healthy treatment after the sand hook shooting, who are we not to.This is a tragedy and lives have been lost.Somebody’s mother, brother, child.father, grandmother, grand father, niece e.t.c has died tragically and a troll out there thinks its politics or whatever superstition.Get help people!!!

  51. This foolish talk about sacrificing as perpetuated by Tonga fools should stop forthwith, I have lost relatives in that accident and we want to mourn in dignity without any political diatribes!! What has PF got to do with an accident and what political mileage do you want to achieve from that????

  52. I’m devastated to read this shocking news. I morn with the families that have lost their loved ones today in this Post bus tragic accident. As a victim whose equally lost a loved one in similar circumstances, I feel your loss of pain you suffer today.Sadly Missed with my deep love

  53. For those of you involving parties you need to grow up and consider the people who are mourning. imagine it was your mother/father who was on that bus. Let’s think before you post.

  54. May the Lord open the spiritual eyes of every believer in Zambia so that prayers are prayed effectively in Jesus name by understanding the victory that Jesus obtained over Zambia 2000 years ago, all these occurrences and similar occurrences do not take God by surprise because he already defeated and overcame them on the cross of calvary, he is just looking for Christians, intercessors to stand in the gap even before anything happens,to pray in the spirit and cancel and stop the evil in Jesus name as the Holy Spirit reveals all the evil intended for Zambia. Victory is guaranteed in Jesus name. The blood that Jesus shed on the cross was not in vain. Eph 1:17-20.

  55. Reading this and listening to Hillsong’s “All I need is you”. Very sad indeed. 5 days national mourning. Very tragic indeed.

    • yes” the rock”in times lyk this we just need to look up God and surrender all we are and just say “all i need is you.we may just never know how much God wants to show himself strong in the families and lives of those who are moaning.am listening to “cry out Jesus”by Third Day.

  56. SOLUTION:
1.DUAL CARRIAGE WAY FROM NDOLA TO LUSAKA
2.LIMIT SPEED FOR TRUCKS TO 80 KM/HR AND BUSES TO 100KM/HR
3.HIGH PATROLS BY THE POLICE AND RATSA
3.TRAINNING OF MEDICAL STAFF ALONG THE MAIN ROADS IN TRAUMA CARE AND EVACUATION.
MAY WE DECLARE A WEEK OF MOURNING FOR THE DEPARTED

  57. POST BUS? So Fred Mumembe is now in the transport business? Damn this guy has looted our treasury under the PF in a very short time. He even bought 11 volvo trucks. No wonder he is dead compromised. Now why is it his bus involved? My condolences

  58. this is sad for Zambia we should all pray for our fathers, mothers, brothers and sisters, sons and daughters involved. i know God has not forsaken us.

  59. What we need in Zambia is to make all highways dual carriageways. Accidents will be mininised. Unfortunately there are other problems such drunk driving, issuing drivrers licenses to people who have not undergone driving training and testing, allowing vehicles that are not roadworthy to be moving freely on the roads, and trafffic rule violations are rife and in most cases, go unpunished. The government is careless and irresponsible, and the road agency is toothless. In short, there’s no system in Zambia. As long as we do not deal with these issues, we will continue dying in numbers, which is a shame. I long for a time when Zambia is going to have responsible, caring, and selfless leaders who can turn things round and make Zambia a better and safe place for all. This is bad; it hurts! Zambia

  60. This is very sad, and quite unacceptable. Why should road become death traps when solutions exist? All that is required is the will to put engineering and policy into action. Lets put national (human) interest first, and all these things will be a thing of the past. MTSRIP.

  61. Very very sad indeed! As much as accidents can happen anywhere in the world, there is big compound problem in Zambia when it comes to road safety: Corruption, Careless driving, Bad roads, weak traffic laws and implementation etc. Every time I visit mother Zambia I sigh a sigh of relief every time I arrive safely on Public transport – even on private transport! Zambia is a long, long way to go…..

  62. Oh my God…Thats to to many lives lost in one day.i grief as a ndola resident.
not so sure but i hear a work mate’s hubby was on the bus.Heart felt condolences.

  63. THIS IS A VERY SAD NEWS ,MAY THE GOOD LORD STRENGHTEN THE RELATIVES OF OUR DEPARTED BROTHERS AND SISTERS. WE CAN SAY ALL KINDS OF THINGS BUT ONLY GOD KNOWS WHAT WENT WRONG AND WHY THIS HAD TO HAPPEN. MAY THE LORD JESUS BE WITH THE FAMILIES OUR THE DEPARTED ONES. WE ARE WITH YOU IN SPIRIT ,ZAMBIA WILL MOURN WITH YOU.

  64. We are all affected, let us mourn like mature people, let someone reflect for just a moment if it were you. Because we all use buses, cars etc to travel from one point to another. Stop politicking because what has happened can even hit you before the end of the day because non master of our life here on earth. God heal the souls of the affected families and nation at large

  65. Its very sad 4 some pipo 2 try and put in politics wen we hv lost so many souls at times use yo head 2 think and not yo tummy here its not abt de Government but of 1 person who was careless wen drivn. Its us who control vehicles wen drivn not de government. Let’s just give comfort 2 de families and c how we can make thei burden lighter. Sad indeed

  66. please people of zambia late has pray for our country zambia only God can help in this accidents we have the power to do so in JESUS Name ther is power

  67. CHILDREN OF ZAMBIA THIS IS NOT THE TIME OF POLITICS LET HAS PUT ALL POLITICS OUT OF THIS LET AS PRAY FOR OUR BELOVE WHO HAVE LOST THERE FAMILY MY CONDOLANCES TO ALL WHO HAVE LOST THERE FAMILIES

  68. This is what happens when no one wants to give way to the other.

Condolences to the families of those who lives have been ended prematurely.

Dual-Carriage Ways on our highways might reduce this unnecessary road massacre of our people.

  69. I reached the spot just a few minutes after it happened . i understand the truck lost control (personally feel could be due to the load on truck sliding to one side due to poor lading) and started swerving to the right , hit a jeep that was crossing ( the jeep’s front wheel broke and skid to the right into the ditch. The driver is an old man and very unlikely he was trying to overtake the bus, as he managed to escape absolutely unhurt) . The truck still kept swerving to the right to the extent it came as a complete blockage to the bus which was travelling at a high speed . Both vehicles must be at atleast 120km/h . the impact was so huge that killed so many . Especially a couple of babies and many crushed beyond recognition . May their soul rest in peace . PLEASE DRIVE SLOW AND SAFE

  70. It’s sad for mother Zambia. We need to do some soul searching and mourn as a nation.some comments are not warranted.let’s be mindful of those who have lost the dear ones..lets unite..we have had tragedy before…Mufulira disaster…Gabon plane crash…loss of dear ones in the family….politics have no place at this dark hour in our lives.

  71. The use of seatbelts on all big buses should be obligatory. Seatbelts are meant to save lives. RTSA does not enforce the use of seatbelts on big buses. I’ve travelled several times on big buses I’ve never seen any RTSA officer entering into the bus to check if passangers are wearing seats belts or not. Instead, I’ve seen them several times receiving what I guess to be bribes from bus drivers. Please motorists/passengers let us use seatbelts and above all observe traffic rules. I’m really devastated with this accident. May the deceased rest in peace and The God of love comfort the bereaved families.

  72. Aunt Inonge, May your soul rest in peace. we kept on praying that you wouldn’t be among the dead today. God knows why you have gone today. We shall forever miss you. My condolences to my fellow bereaved families.

  73. My soul laments this tragic accident. I agree with a call declare National morning, at least three days.
May the souls of the departed ones test in eternal peace.

  74. 2 Chronicles 7:14
if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seekmy face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

    • I don’t know what you mean, but I feel that you are labeling the victims as sinners. Forgive me if I have misconstrued your message, but accidents are caused by people and they demand level-headed, practical solutions – not mumble jumble, self indulgent sentiments. The Bible has its place, but this verse sounds offensive in this context. Zambians are not being punished by God!!

  75. A dark cloud fell over me today. It was a very difficult day for me running between class and the office, all the time wishing for the best for my friend of more than nineteen years was on this bus from Ndola. I got the news of the accident around 09:20 hrs. From then I agonised for more news. At 12.40 hrs, it was confirmed that this firend had died in this accident. Tonight, I would have been sharing jokes with him in my house in Avondale but God’s plans are beyond human understanding.

His name is Mr. Thomas William Mwale, a very energetic family man. One time in his life he played soccer for Ndola United and Zambia. He studied insurance and was a very capable broker in Botswana for 15 years. He leaves behind a wife, Elizabeth and three daughters Bahati, Lise and Mwila.

  77. the problem is ratsa and rda…… believe me you. monday morning or say coming weeks more people will be slapped with useless offenses within town center instead of valuing inter town and provinces routes.
l am very much sure we are going to watch chiwala talking about his usual dual carriage way stories ….we are waiting for you hope you wont be a victim of such, because your tolerance is questionable.
l have really lost relatives in such situations , l know what families are going through.
May God be with all the affected families, there is no replacement but only God is the true and only replacement.

  78. A time comes in every man and woman’s life when you have to keep quite for a minute and just watch and think…this is the moment…if you don’t but instead decide to talk,it results in verbal diarrhea… which is what i have seen above from the majority of the comments. The accident was caused by a white man in a land cruiser trying to overtake the truck,he found himself head on with the busby the time he changed his mind about over taking,it was too late. The road is smooth but curved.the cant blame GRZ for that now can you?we are angry and i understand so there is a tendency for anger to manifest it self in these various forms am seeing on the forum here..but will it change anything? no…is the president reading this right now?i doubt it.he could be fast asleep right now.save your…

  79. Am lost 4 words with all 2 say but in the depth of all this brokenness God is and is yet to show himself strong.Only the words of this song comforts me.”Cry out to Jesus”. To every one whose lost someone they love
long before it was there time
And you feel like the days you had were not enough
    when you said goodbye
To all of you people with burdens and pain
keeping you back from your life
and you believe that there’s nothing
and there’s no-one who can make it right.

    There’s hope for helpless
    rest for the weary
and love for the broken heart

  80. There were 3 vehicles involved in this accident. According to resources a Toyota Landcruiser was trying to overtake the lorry. Both were going to North. The bus was going south towards Lusaka. If survived the driver of the Toyota should be charged with reckless homicide. People should drive carefully we are tired of this. May God give comfort to all Zambians.

  81. I can’t believe this platform is being used for politics and fun talk.Don’t find joy in this, let us mourn as zambians not political parties, one day it will be your relative or you,pay your last respects and stop fooling around

  82. Speeding or not the problem still remains. Something need to be done with the size and condition of our roads. God help our families.

  83. it saddens me to see people politicize such a terrible disaster. It is so shocking and saddening to lose so many vibrant Zambians in a single day. Let us show some respect and express our misdirected fault finding to other articles for goodness sake.

  84. pipo are behaving so foolish by blaming the gov
its abt the stupid driver of the land cruiser that as cause my uncles brocken legs and ribs…
i wish pipo can understand my feeling and most of my friends have died in the same bus
please dont blame the government but pray to God to Almighty and remember to dedicate our lives b4 we come out of our rooms
may the souls of the deceased rest in eternal peace

  85. Oooooh God have mercy on us Zambians. My condolances to all the families who have lost thier loved ones especially in Ndola City. May their souls rest in peace. I pray for God’s comfort and love to surround all the families who are mourning.

  86. Its so hard to believe that Mrs Inonge Ngosa the found of Mapanza School in Ndola is also gone. A woman of valour, always laughing and humble. She has left behind a husband and 2 sons. A dark cloud fell over us friends in Ndola. MHSRIP

  87. This is too much, lord help us, confort us on this time of mourning …..Mother zambia ! mother zambia! let us put everything in the hands of God. MHSRIP

  88. RATSA should be dissolved for they do not know their functions. All I see about them is manning useless roadblocks checking for valid road tax and drivers licences inconveniencing hard working people. They insist that you pay the fine on the spot or they impound your vehicle for forgetting your walet containing the Licence. Let them have mobile data bases where they can tell whether one has a valid document or not. They give fitness to those timber ferrying lorries that do not have brakes, lights and reflectors. Fire the corrupt chaps. It pains to see so many people losing their lives a go. MTSRIP

  89. may the God almighty protection mother Zambia. may he confort the families of the departed ones. we are with them in spirit and our prayer is that God gives them strength during this period and in the days to come.

  90. This is very sad, every Zambia is affected by this horrific tragedy. May the sours of the deceased rest in eternal peace.
    The government needs to do two things;
    (1) Introduce speed limits for public transport to reduce the impact should an accident occur,
    (2) It is about time our country’s roads had more lanes on its major routes.
Zambia can afford these two things, please our GOVERNMENT we can as a country do this. have messy LORD JESUS.

  91. In the days of Levy and RB peolpe would have said it is a sacrifice, but why this time do you say you are politicising the accident? Yes, a priest during campaigns did a deadly sacrice and now the spirit wants to be paid their dues. Now they are claiming what should be theirs. Poor Finishers at work. HEMCS is not an angel ifact he is worse than any other president we have ever had. God help us. Zambia Shall Be Saved.
