Alert police in Kapiri Mposhi have today arrested two men for allegedly practicing homosexuality.

ZANIS reports that Central Province Commissioner of Police Standwell Lungu has confirmed the development in an interview in Kapiri Mposhi today.

Mr. Lungu named the suspects as James Mwape and Philp Mubiana both aged 21 years and residents of Ndeke Compound.

He said the duo have since been charged for having sex against the order of nature contrary to the laws of Zambia.

The two were arrested over the weekend after a tip-off from concerned members of the public who alleged that the suspects were married.

The two have been living together as man and wife in Ndeke area.

From the medical tests conducted on the suspects at Kapiri Mposhi District Hospital proved that they had been practicing sodomy, Mr. Lungu said.
The Police Commissioner said Philip had been acting as wife while James as man in the relationship which has existed for some time now.

“We have arrested two 21-year-olds and charged them for sodomy for having sex against the order of nature … they have been living together and having sex against the order of nature”, Mr. Lungu said.

He said the two who have since been granted police bond will appear in court on Wednesday this week.

Recently, government decreed that it will stiffen laws against homosexuality.

Minister of Youth and Sport Chishimba Kambwili said Government will help the people of Zambia to fight the vice with vigour.

He said on a commercial radio chat show, Let the people talk, that government will “not tolerate nonsense” and that homosexuality will not prevail in this country.

“We don’t want Zambia’s children to be taught any vice. We will not tolerate homosexuality. Those who want to promote homosexuality in Zambia are wasting their time. If anything, we are planning to stiffen laws against homosexuality,” he said.

And US-based Zambian Evangelist Edward Chomba said homosexuality should not be given a chance in the country.

Speaking during the same programme, Bishop Chomba said if homosexuality is given a platform for debate, “it will grow deep and derail our customs”.

  1. YES! VIVA POLICE! LOCK EM UP IN THE ZOO. WE DON’T WANT THESE STRAY ANIMALS INFECTING OUR CHILDREN WITH THESE EVIL HABITS.
WHEN YOU TURN A BLIND EYE ON EVIL…IT SPREADS LIKE A RASH

  2. Zambia, please stop these persecutions and violations of humans!! This is the type of disregard and intolerance for others who are different that brought about slavery and the holocaust.

Chomba is a fake reverend who is preaching hate and discrimination. If he despises homosexuality so much why is he living among homosexuals in America?

Homosexuality is as old as life itself. It will never end!!

    • Numbian, I do respect you, but if you ever grew up in Zambian village, would you tell us there were homos in your village. Or did you ever see a Zambian primary school headmaster who was married to a village headman, ever?
Let me tell you, this is just a trend of the century, it will pass soon. You can compare with the 50s where presidents used to give a speech with a cigarette in their hands, in 60s almost all Americans where cocaine addicts, some where even walking naked in streets of New York and called themselves NUDISTS. That was not culture its just a trend.
      – Yes there are still smokers.
      – Yes there are still some addicts.
      – Yes there are still nudists.
      – Yes there always be people who marry goats or woman who sleep with their dogs.

  3. All I can say is let he that has not sined be the first to cast a stone. How about we also arrest the AIDS riddled fornicators in Zambia and turn into an Arab Republic. If a person wants to be Gay let him be! if he has sinned its between him and God no man is a judge.

  4. The point here is that its against the zambian law to practice homosexuality. Just like its illegal to steal. There is nothing wrong with these two guys bt its the act ehich was illegal under the law n that act is the reason they have to be punished for..

  5. The word Sodomy is derived from the story of Sodom and Gomorrah in chapters 18 and 19 of the Book of Genesis in the Bible.”sodomy laws” It implies oral or anal sex . It is a crime against nature. We do not want a capital punishment from Godthe almight God please take them away from us
    God Help us

  6. ‘against the order of nature’. Like eating with fork and knife, using a condom? What a lame and stupid excuse of a law to justify sexual prejudice and persecution of a sexual minority. Kambwili has diarrhea of the mouth making strong statements just about everything even things he has no understanding whatsoever! The two chaps arrested are grown and having sexual intercourse in the privacy of their ‘hut’ and probably love each other more than cheating Bemba Bull Kambwili loves his several sexual partners. My heart goes out to all the homosexuals. I call upon all Christians to show some love (like Jesus Christ, you know) even to those you consider sinners.

  7. The word Sodomy is derived from the story of Sodom and Gomorrah in chapters 18 and 19 of the Book of Genesis in the Bible.”sodomy laws” It implies oral or anal sex . It is a crime against nature. We do not want a capital punishment from God. God help us

    • which god is that, i hope you don’t meant the invisible muzungu with a long beard that has been brainwashed in your vulnerable head!

  8. I am not interested in whatever happens to these weird beings. I enjoy my sex with a woman and not a fellow man. I even forget about the rest of the world.

  9. Nonsense. What a waste of police time and resources. This was a consensual act between adults in the privacy of their home. There are no reports of rape, coerced or forced sex or indeed sexual assault – in which case it would be a different matter. This goes to show that Zambians still have a long way to go in understanding sexuality. The fact that culture ‘frowns’ upon it is no justification to apply criminal sanctions. That law is archaic and needs repealing. There is more pressing criminality to attend to than pursuing people’s private acts and clearly being shamefully intrusive by examining their ‘behinds’.

  10. Don’t the police have better things to do? Actual crimes to investigate? Discrimination is wrong, and real crime is going unsolved. Leave them alone for what they do in private. Are they affecting your life in any way? Religion is neither here nor there; remember people have the right to freedom of religion, so religious rules should have no legal power, otherwise it’s just another form of discrimination against those of other religions or no religion. Religion is a matter for the individual.
