Acting President Guy Scott says the constitution will be his guiding light as he leads the country during the transition period.

Dr Scott said he will turn to the constitution during the remainder of his 90 days tenure for guidance during this difficult era in the country.

The Acting President said ensuring sustainability of the country’s constitution is the only way that will ensure that law and order is maintained in the country.

He was speaking at State House in Lusaka today after swearing in four High Court Judges.

The four judges are Justices Mwamba Chanda, Yvonne Chembe, Mwila Chibwe Kombe and Lishomwa Nawa Muuka.

Dr Scott said it was a great honour for him to perform the ceremonial duty of swearing in the four High Court Judges.

He congratulated the newly elevated High Court Judges and wished them God’s guidance in the discharge of their duties.

The four judges were elevated to the High Court bench by late President Michael Sata who died on October 28, 2014 in London.

Their appointment was ratified by Parliament in June this year.

Acting Chief Justice Lombe Chibesakunda, Justice and Defence Minister Edgar Lungu and his Gender and Information counterparts Inonge Wina and Joseph Katema were among other senior government officials that attended the ceremony.

  1. Congratulations My Lord Muuka.

It’s been a long walk and we are glad you bring tax and commercial experience from ZRA and ERB.

    • lombe chibesakunda amolu ubukulu!!! ninshi mulwele madam? its not healthy at all. Being a vegan has its perks, for one you dont get such swollen legs at that age!!!
Drunken master looks angry all the time. ninshi??? azungu again are ruling!!!

    • If I were the judge to be sworn in, I would excuse myself and wait for a proper President to do the honours. Especially that this presido is formenting anarchy in the nation at the moment, sorry bwana not me, I will wait for next year….

    • Only one president at a time, well done. Lungu looks messed up, like a kids who is about to cry. Sorry Baba, I am sure he wanted to be the one doing this ceremony.

    • Lombe Chibesakunda has elephantiasis with those legs. How can a human being have legs like a Hippo. This woman needs to resign and concentrate on fixing her legs.

  2. What Powers does an Acting President has ?

The Democracy of Zambia seems to b growing. I am so happy for my country.
    Viva mai Guy Scott.

  3. Acting president, acting chief justice and acting /pretending politicians selling pie in the sky 90day promises…Zambia is a nation of actors/liars.

  4. Observations:
    1. The issue of gender equality is now pulling the gender scale down on the female’s side.

    2. When is the indefinite acting Chief Justice going to be confirmed or dropped? I hope HH is going to sort out this one after January 20th.

  5. ka Skoti, ata boy! he’s busy trying to put his own chidindo on Zambian history before his 15 minutes are over. hey, the boy’s gotta do what he’s gotta do.

  6. @Tumapala
That will not happen my dear, these are constitutional matters, even Scott knows that. The problem is that these PF morons are shortsighted, hence opposed to enacting a new constitution in 90days as they promised, alas! they are now regretting.

    • I would not jump to conclusions if I were you. These women are probably married to people you deem to be Bemba. They could themselves be Lozi, Tonga etc.

    • MR EQUALISER IGNORANCE AND JUST BEING TRIBAL WILL CHOKE YOU. LAST NAME FOR A WOMAN DOES NOT NECESSARILY DETERMINE HER TRIBE OR RACE. IN ANY CASE THE PROPORTION (RATIO) OF ANY TRIBE IN ZAMBIA HAS NEVER BEEN LESS ON THE BEMBAS SIDE. SO WHOEVER COMES TO POWER WILL SIMPLY FIND IT DIFFICULT TO HAVE LESS BEMBAS IN AUTHORITY UNLESS HE IS TRIBAL. WHAT IF GUY SCOTT HAD INTRODUCED EVEN JUST FEW WHITES- I WONDER WHAT YOUR COMMENTS WOULD HAVE BEEN. MY ADVICE TO ZAMBIANS IS: DON’T BE RACIAL AND TRIBAL. LET GUY SCOTT DO THE JOB FREELY. GUY IS A VERY EXPERIENCED LEADER AND HE KNOWS WHAT HE IS DOING.

  7. My beloved zambians their is a waste of money in this country also violence is persisting and elections are approaching also economically not stable why can’t the ECZ and the (White) Guy Scott postponed the election and wait for general election in 2016 ? When the mind of people are stable they can vote wisely without violence because I see glimpses of excessive violence their for the gorvement should look into that critically may Guy Scott continue to 2o16

  8. I m also for the idea of letting Guy rule up to 2016. It will give chance to Edgar or HH, whoever wins the bye election, to rule for a maximun 10 years (2 terms) rather than maximum 6 and half years.

  9. I LOVE MY ZAMBIA. WE ARE REALLY A DEMOCRATIC COUNTRY EVEN SURPASSING THE MAJORITY (IF NOT ALL) OF WESTERN COUNTRIES. I HAVE BEEN ASKED MANY A TIMES BY OTHER NATIONALS WHY ZAMBIA SHOULD LET A WHITE MAN RULE. MY SIMPLE ANSWER HAS ALWAYS BEEN: BECAUSE HE IS A ZAMBIAN, BESIDES SOUTHERN AFRICA AND IN PARTICULAR ZAMBIA HAS DIFFERENT POLITICS AS COMPARED TO THE WESTERN AFRICAN COUNTRIES AND OTHERS. WE PRACTICE REAL ONE ZAMBIA ONE NATION AND THANKS KK FOR THIS. IN FACT KABIMBA SAT ON THE DRAFT CONSTITUTION TO DENY EVEN SCOTT CHANCE TO FULLY RULE ZAMBIA.

  10. The judicially will soon be Tongalised in January 2015. No more Lozi, Kalubale, Ngoni/chipatans or bembas will be in it. Once HH goes in State house.
