Patriotic Front Kasama Central Member of Parliament Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba popularly known as GBM today officially joined the UPND where he is expected to be appointed as UPND vice president for political affairs.He will replace Richard Kapita who recently defected to the PF.
A media briefing is currently taking place at Cresta Golfview hotel in Lusaka.
Mr Mwamba dragged the ruling party to court after being expelled for campaigning for UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema during the January 2015 presidential.
Mr Mwamba’s decision to relinquish his membership of the ruling party means he will no longer be Member of Parliament for Kasama Central paving way for a long anticipated by-election.
The resignation of a Member of Parliament is not new to Kasama Central constituency with Mr Mwamba himself having been first elected MP in 2009 in a by-election that followed the resignation of Dr Savior Chishimba as PF Member of Parliament.
Mr Mwamba was reelected Member of Parliament for Kasama central during the 2011 tripartite elections with a landslide polling 25,210 votes against his nearest rival Chilekwa Munkonge of the MMD who polled 4,357 votes.

Defence Minister Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba (GBM) has admitted that President Michael Sata has appointed relatives to high offices because they deserve it for sticking with him and financing his campaign.
GBM also announced that he will stand for national president when President Sata steps down.
He was speaking on radio Mazabuka’s livewire program yesterday morning.
Mr. Mwamba is one of the people who has been campaigning heavily to take-over from Sata…
The past is irrelevant what matters is what he will be able to contribute from now onwards.
I don’t know if this move is of any consequence to the Zambian political scene, but I know for sure that it would take four of those guys surrounding him to fill up his JACKET!!!

By making his 3rd time cross-over from MMD to PF and now UPND, GBM has merely exercised his democratic and constitutional right. What i know is that GBM is very emotional and believes money can buy him the Presidency and Zambians. Does he have a connecting message to captivate the Zambian base and bag up a national vote beyond a constituency? Didn’t suffer a humiliating defeat to Lubinda in Kabwata and Kasama won by PF instead? Has got what it takes to rationally think, harmonize political divergence and drive détente in political turmoil to win new territories beyond his questionable base? I choose to see. Blessing!

The infighting in the PF prior to the 2015 by elections improved the votes HH received and not gbm. Mark my word gbm will be defeated should he dare to stand Kasama.
If you recall gbm wanted to be appointed campaign manager for ECL for the whole Northern province. When ECL refused to appoint him as campaign manager that is when gbm joined HH’s team. When he joined HH’s team what most people expected was for HH to at least win Kasama central.

Here is my problem with this situation the involvement of recycled material from an opposition party. GBM is rotten inside and out and before his fallout with Sata, he was ruthless. With Sylvia Masebo it was the ban on trophy hunting she took a stand on that was good but everything else was corrupt. I like UPND but not with these people joining the party because we already know their schemes. Politics should not be used as a means to steal or fill one’s belly. HH is clearly losing my support on this move because if he is trying to change Zambia so she can move forward, he needs to clean up shop and all people who contributed to Zambia’s failures. We need new people with new innovation with something new to offer not recycle material singing the same hymns. It’s time for a real change.
