Tanker bursts killing its occupants in Mpika District

A Driver from the DR Congo and his unknown number of passengers were burnt to ashes when the fuel tunker they were travelling in went aflame after it plunged into Danger Hill along Great North Road, 27 kilometers north of Mpika, Muchinga province.

Zambia Police Public Relations Officer Esther Mwaata Katongo who confirmed this in a statement to ZANIS, today, said the Howo truck of registration number 0576AK05 and Trailer number T7673 ALO5 loaded with 42000 liters of Petrol was being driven by Tshilumba Odia Tathi aged 32 of Lubumbashi DRC lost control and plunged into Danger Hill along Great North Road and burst aflame killing all the occupants on the spot.

The accident happened when the driver lost control of the motor vehicle as he was descending the Danger Hill which later overturned and caught fire.
