A 25-year old house wife of Undi Village in Luangwa is nursing serious wounds after she was attacked by a crocodile as she was washing along the Luangwa River with a friend.
Chiriwe ward Councilor, Elias Phiri, confirmed the attack of Malizani Tembo to ZANIS.
Mr. Phiri said the crocodile pulled the woman from the canoe in which she was seated as she was washing her clothes.
He said Mrs. Tembo sustained major injuries on the left arm and on the breast and she is nursing serious wounds in Katondwe Mission hospital.
Mr. Mwanza said Mrs. Tembo was rescued by a friend who struggled with the reptile by pulling its tail.
Efforts to get a comment from Katondwe Mission hospital proved futile by press time as the Medical Doctor was busy in the operating theater.

Too bad for Mrs Tembo, wish u a quick recovery.Crocs r so fierce no wonder their fats can cure AIDS,they are dangerful
Hi Zoe, good afternoon.
This is what I was talking about just yesterday that these animals attack humans and someone decided to attack me on this blogg. I bet he was trying to act like a crocodile too. Crocodile fats will always remain a myth until ‘proven’ to be the real cure for AIDS/HIV.
it goes to say we need access to improved water sources for all
Nature and man will continue to co-exist. i am afraid not so friendly. My aunty lost her baby and her arm before died many years later.
Amake Tembo thank God and your friend that you are in one piece….The name Crocodile was arrived at after seeing how it can chop man into piece.
Have you been washing from the same spot nakudala elo bwanji.
Ask ba ZAWA to kill the beast.I recommend you keep the skin.
Quick recovery.
I am still scared of crocs, tourist attaction or not…endangered species or not….
Can you say that in English please?
A big thank you goes to her very brave friend , best friends for ever (BFFE)
You are right. Others friends would have panicked and run as ‘each for their dear life’ style….
Are these the crocodiles that the chief mentioned to be part of the Aids cure? The Chief said crocodile fats can be used to cure the deadly disease.
These attacks may be the response to the Chiefs proposal.
Too bad for the woman.
Exactly Jamaco. These are the same crocs. They are known to attack and chew humans too.
lol
Sad reading but brave friend, coz some would have panicked and take off leaving the friend behind with the beast. Quick recovery amai.
What’s this with Eastern province and animal attacks?Anyway you keep o eating imbeba and the animal kingdom wont let you go unpunished.
Which is better, ukulya ba kolwe nangula imbeba? Ba kolwe ni banthu.
Which is better, eating monkeys or imbeba?
the croc must be the first to be killed for AIDS cure. ZAWA hunt it so that we can be cured of this AIDS which has placed its self on the sweet fruit. Amai tembo quick recovery
People must seriously learn to respect crocs. These reptiles are very dangerous. Sitting in a canoe and putting your hands in the river is a recipe for trouble. This woman should really thank God for her friend who saved. My advice to people living along rivers is stay away from croc infested areas!
Her friend deserves a national award for bravery, I salute her! Many would have legged it back to the village but this legendary daughter of the soil grabbed the moster by its tails till it let go og her friend. I wish we can all act in the same manner to rescue this country from the jaws of thieves bent on blundering it.
You are BLESSED my sister
