Chieftainess Mwenda of Mazabuka has detained four suspected Cattle rustlers who were transporting 17 herds of cattle using bush paths from Gwembe district without official documents allowing them to do so.
And Chieftainess Mwenda has revealed that she has appointed a retired police officer to handle the investigations and submit a detailed report on where the animals were bought from.
The Chieftainess told ZANIS in Mazabuka yesterday that she strongly suspected the animals, which have been seized and detained at her palace, are stolen because official documents are signed by Police at Turn Pike in Mazabuka and not in Gwembe.
She explained that she decided to appoint an independent former law enforcement officer because Police in Mazabuka were allegedly playing double standards in the fight against cattle rustling.
” I do not trust Police in Mazabuka. This is why I have appointed a neutral person to investigate the matter and ensure the truth is not hidden,” she said.
Chieftainess Mwenda said the retired police officer has since been directed to work hand in hand with Police in Gwembe to establish where the animals were bought.
She complained that the suspects failed to produce documents from the Veterinary department and traditional rulers where the animals could have been bought from.
The traditional ruler has since commended her vigilantes for being alert and helping government in fighting crime.
Efforts by ZANIS to get a comment from Mazabuka District Officer Commanding, Robison Moonga failed as he could not be reached on his mobile phone.
ZANIS
Good job madam..hope you wont feast on the same cattle. Why not just hand over investigations to relevant authorities?

Having a traditional ruler who is so sharp and vigilant!!
This is why women are good leaders, i applude this mama
Congrats Madam Chief,u have done zed a gud service..! we need more women of yr calibre.cattle for southerners is CAPITAL (Non Current Assets) just like a tractor at a farm hence you do not just wake up and slaughter a cow for relish anyhow…! this’ crazy thinking..!
Good move though you have no warrants of arrest. Do not release them. They have finished our animals.
Ba Honey, which place are you?
THIS IS TOTAL ARNARCHY. WHY IS THIS CHIEFTAINESS BEING ALLOWED TO BEHAVE LIKE THIS. ZAMBIA HAS A POLICE SERVICE MANDATED TO MAKE ARRESTS NOT THIS DRAMA QUEEN TAKING THE LAW IN HER OWN HANDS. NEXT SHE WILL TELLUS THAT SHE HAS FOUND THEM QUILTY AND SHE IS IMPRISONING THEM AT HER OWN PRISON. SUCH CHICK COMING FROM A VILLAGER
# 5 Pornstar, in tonga land we have our own rules okay
Chieftainess Mwenda should not demean ZPin Mazabuka, those cops carry out investigations and if in their opnion the cattle were bought gueninely they have no reason to hold on to them. Those are the rules of the game. Yes traditional rulers have their own rightsand way of handling local issues but they are not above the law to be confiscating other pipo’s animals. She is killing enterprenuership ot local initiative. Why seek the services of retired cop when those are active there.
