Nawakwi is a desperate politician, says Kawana

FDD President Edith Nawakwi campaigning for RB in 2008 elections

THE African Institute for Democracy and Good Governance (AIDGG) has described Forum for Democracy and Development (FDD) president Edith Nawakwi as a desperate politician who has allegedly failed to run her party leading to calls for her removal by members.

AIDGG spokesperson Thabo Kawana also charged that Ms Nawakwi expected an appointment for supporting President Rupiah Banda’s candidature during the 2008 Presidential by-election.

Mr Kawana yesterday said it had now become evident through statements the FDD president was issuing against President Banda and Government that Ms Nawakwi supported the MMD in 2008 in anticipation of an appointment.

Mr Kawana said in an interview that Ms Nawakwi should instead concentrate on building what he called her diminished political party than resorting to attacking President Banda.

He said currently, Ms Nawakwi was running the party with dissatisfied membership which had seen no value in her, leading to the call for the party vice-president Chifumu Banda to take over.

“What Ms Nawakwi is doing is just sour grapes because she expected an appointment after supporting President Banda in 2008.

“What she needs to do is to concentrate on building her political party which is now almost defunct.

“She should remember that she has a dissatisfied membership which has seen no value in her, hence the calls for the party’s vice-president to take over,” Mr Kawana said..

And Forum for Leadership Search executive director Edwin Lifwekelo said Ms Nawakwi lacked the vision and direction in terms of adding value to the Zambian political scene.

Mr Lifwekelo said it was shameful that Ms Nawakwi could choose to misdirect her energies towards insulting President Banda at the expense of re-organising her political party.

“FDD is currently suffering and if it was not for Chifumu Banda and Newton Ng’uni, the party would have crumbled a long time ago. Ms Nawakwi has become a liability even in FDD itself. Infact, the members should kick her out and allow Mr Banda to take over as party president.

“In short, she lacks vision, direction and even the capacity in terms of adding value in politics,” he said.

He said the FDD leader had not provided any solutions apart from showing her negative character by issuing statements that were exposing the kind of leadership.

He urged Ms Nawakwi to exercise humility like in her days as a marketeer way back.

Mr Lifwekelo said the inconsistency Ms Nawakwi, who could be reached for a comment, had shown from the time she supported President Banda to date, was evident enough that she was not a capable leader.

  1. I HAD A LOT HOPE IN MAMA NAWAKWI. NOW IT HAS GONE WITH THE WIND.POLITICS IS NOT ALL ABOUT MOCKING THE HEAD OF STATE.SOMETIMES WITHDRAW FROM THE SCENE AND REFLECT ON YOUR CONTRIBUTION TO THE NATION. IF IT IS ZERO, THEN PLEASE GO FARMING WHICH MAMA NAWAKWI DOES BETTER.

  2. are these AIDGG people supposed to be independent observers, they do not need to sink so low as to insult Nawakwi . it’s really quite disgusting to hear the way people carelessly use words ‘she should be humble like her marketeer days how derogatory and shallow of this man, sad really that he represents an instituition

  3. It is true she has sour grapes in the hand bag. That trip to Addis Abba with President Banda wasn’t enough for her to go shopping. Maybe next time the President is flying out include Nawakwi on the Nalikwanda ( Presidential Jet ). That’s the problem with african politics we want politics of beneficia to borrow Daniel Munkombwe’s language. Be like the Akashambatwa we find them selves all the time drinking and eating with who ever that comes up on the scene.

  4. Is it just me or what! all the time Lifwekelo is in the papers he is supporting RB and MMD in some way, surely, doesnt he see anything wrong with mmd at all,he has not for once come out to condemn any wrongs, for instance the pronouncements by RB and Mulongoti on Chiluba’s acquital,Dora Siliya reappointment, floods,no incinerators in hospitals,George Kunda’s K5billion to NCC which failed, thank God,is he just blind or just chooses to look the other way,is it poverty or just a lack or principles and this Kawana,of THE African Institute for Democracy and Good Governance (AIDGG),surely hasnt he heard about the investigations on the INSPECTOR GENERAL of police who is still working and being paid,is this Good Governance,is this blind loyalty or just plain caderism of the highest order

Man its not about sour grapes, look at things from a different angle, its all about checks and balances,if it wasnt for Nawakwi would we have known that some hospitals dont have incinerators, someone highlights an issue which none of us knew about, instead of giving her credit that someone somewhere was not doing her job correctly what d we do we condemn in strongest terms, even the minister went to visit and the sister in charge agreed that its not working hence they use the one in Matero, for once come out of the mmd bubble and view criticism with an objective mind

  6. These are fake NGOs run by desperate men who are jobless and too lazy to work . . . .they survive by licking boots of anyone in power. Typical dog loyalty!

  7. Nawakwi is right! We did not know this man would be so useless in governace and general leadership. He is a disgrace to humanity in general. All play and no work. Thats the problem with people who are not used spending 8 hours or more behind a desk or in front of a PC.

  8. Ok for the first time, let me agree with Lifwekelo on Nawakwi being replaced for failing to run the party and NOT for criticising RB.Its illogical for Nawakwi to point out failures of another individual when she herself has leaderships issues to sort out.

  9. This is what happens when you dont get your desired kick back. Nawakwi supported RBB in 2008 and now she has changed colours because she did not get her cut. Unlike Sakwiba Sikota, whose support for RB is still intact despite being dropped from the list of potential VP’s, Nawakwi is a real jumper. I’m sure the pact has offered her something to reward her for going against RB. This is what politics is about. No one loves the people. The politicians are in it for their own gain. Well done Edith.

Every woman out there should watch out because Nawakwi is after your husbands. Her morals describe her best!

  10. KITWE’S United Church of Zambia (UCZ) Kwacha East Congregation Reverend Teddy Siwila has said the government’s insensitivity, intolerance and failure to embrace criticism on matters of governance is provoking people and creating unnecessary political tension.
And Rev Siwila has challenged the MMD government and opposition political parties to refrain from harassing people who hold divergent views and respect the country’s democratic and political dispensation.
In an interview in Kitwe, Rev Siwila said the style of leadership of President Rupiah Banda’s administration was worrying and provoking the minds of the right thinking members of the public because of its failure to listen to the voice of the people over matters of national interest such as the constitution-making process,

  11. the fight against corruption, unemployment and the escalating poverty levels.

Rev Siwila said it would be difficult for the country to attain meaningful development and enjoy the fruits of being in a democratic state if government continued to lend a deaf ear to various stakeholders and the general citizenry over matters that affect them.

He said it was unfortunate that politics of insults had become the order of the day and people holding government power had diverted attention from real issues to mere politicking.

  12. “It would be difficult to end this tension we are seeing in the political arena because those in the corridors of power are not listening to what the people are saying. This country needs leaders who are going to embrace criticism, tolerance and uphold the values of being in a democracy. We need to see maturity in the conduct of our leaders and not this childishness we are seeing, that’s why people are angry,” Rev Siwila said.He said the general citizenry would only give respect to President Banda and his government if it stopped concentrating much on consolidating political power but address issues that affect the poor people. He said that fostering good governance was not about having political power but touching poor people’s lives through service delivery.

  13. But ba sharp shooter #12 what you have said doesn’t make sense, are you saying that if i spot someone stealing a vehicle then i shouldn’t alarm pipo because i’ve also just come from stealing a tomato? point being RB has greater scope of responsibility than Nawakwi does right now. of whom much is given much is expected nawakwi is answerable to fdd followers RB to the nation at large

  14. Nawakwi alikwata amano ya BUCHENDE…anyway if i was a president almost the entire cabinet kuti baba ama LADIES…pakuti ndeipakula..she is ok coz every man wants a woman…so maybe RB alakakako..

  15. #17 Mukwa Ginger Brandy
I will respect your interpretaion. My point is,for example,if one failed/fails an exam,s(he) is morally not in a position to criticise/advise those failing exams. The same applies to morals.Only morally upright people speak out on issues of morals cos they are doing so based on what they do NOT just hot air.If Nawakwi performed exemplary well as FDD president, ofcourse,a good number will echo her sentiments but its not the case.

  16. Nawakwi is a definite failure both in marriage and in politics. In marriage she has never had a man of her own apart from thefoolish one she grabbed from another woman. In politics ,she has messed up FDD and am sure at their next convention she will be terminated there. Intelligence should be seen to going with humility……after all she is not beautuful.

  17. Nawakwi, where is Hambulo, the Tonga Bull you grabbed from another lady and made him your Husband? Just Like Chiluba did to aquire Regina from Mr. Mwanza. You are also a headless chickeness.
Live the way for the PACT. The fact that you insulted Mr. Sata & HH during the Last rally in Mandevu in 2008 makes it impossible for you to Join the PACT. Anyway I think amano yaisa, I dont care whether you insult RB or not. You were with NyamaSoya in the chopper campaigning heavily for him.You reaping what you sowed Edith.

  18. # 13 You have hit the nail on the head .Nawakwi’s inner thighs are red hot with the want of it . And when she is under the influence of such sensual forces her reasoning snaps. Bear with her, it is their nature; you mean you did not know?

  19. It’s only insecure men who delve into gender dispositions whenever a woman of substance finds them pants down ill-equipped. I agree that she shouldn’t have forced the good Old Chap Christon Tembo to quit politics only for her to ascend to the appex of FDD and in typical Tilyenji Kaunda style drive the party into a dizzying paralysis. However, the things she is talking about Banda and Kunda are right. Things like going to China for 10 days and trying to gallavant another 4 days in Windhoek before being forced back home is to me tantamount to acting like a mad headless “Munkombwe” chicken and I agree with Nawakwi. As for Kunda, we all know his devastated immune system has allowed “masalamusi” to populate his skull, I mean, George Kunda chinangwa, a lipenana!

  20. Is this how low we’ve become, what sin has she committed to deserve this kind of dressing down?. She never insulted anybody but was merely exercising her freedom of expression. Is it normal to start insulting your mother for advicing someone how to behave, becareful with your blogging dont get too excited with technology. AMATIPU IFYO YESA.

  21. Straight UP Sebuloni, you are right, insecure, weak, hollow and shallow minded men who cant handle the trueth, only thing they can do is dress her down meanwhile they cant stand up to their fellow men, punks,,,if it wasnt for her RB would still have been in Namibia for 4 days attending an inauguration ceremnony and talking to farmers, because of her he had to cut short the tour,
ngati ni ba Joseph P,i bet your mum/wife would be very proud of you if she were to read your opinion on Nawakwi

  22. I like RB and I will always rally behind him because of his good leadership. Those who insults my president are just doing it for selfish motive

  23. THE African Institute for Democracy and what? This Kawana fellow was always in anti-aids group, Women’s movements recently he was in YCWA, it seems its a boom time for professional NGO guys. Please Thabo get a life, do some honest work for a change! While you are it, the children you fathered while in Youth alive are still looking for their Father!

  24. HH for next Zambian president. Period. I just like the way he is holding himself with all this madness around him^:)^

  25. R.B has a chance to make a difference only if allows free speech avoid picking quarrels with the Church! The people who are hero worshipping him today are not being honest with realities on the ground-poorly funded education sector, poor health delivery system, no jobs, no pensions, floods in some parts of the country the sector which is thriving is seminars and allowances business

  26. #27 and 29 it is said an eye for an eye.Nawakwi does not deserve any respect because she does not give it out to anyone except for the one who waters her field….She is too young she cannot be my mother. Not every woman is mother or wife. You yourself have done a lot with many women/girl ,but you do not liken those to your mother. grow up and think….Nawakwi is Nawakwi, period.

  27. # 30 just out of curiosity what good leadership qualities has RB exhibited,i have tried in may own independent mind to find something to praise him for but has failed. When leadership is required to manage the country the man runs away.During floods he took off to china, during the ministry of health strike he took off again. When time came for him to show leadership on the issue at a press conference he scandalised the post, sata and hichileme ending up with a ridiculous law suit against chabwela.Every time he tries to open his mouth he is attacking members of the opposition,NGOs and the church. So what leadership has he shown. If you are talking about economic gains these are not RB ‘s achievements ,the government machinery is on autopilot and governing itself. He is luck LPM left…

  28. What has Nawakwi’s love life got to do with anything? What is wrong with the supposedly Zambian enlightened? Why can’t you aspire to be better than the old guys you are accusing of messing up things for you? Look at you, these old people are not going anywhere until you the young shape up and show some reponsibility. They keeping you out because you are small minded. Discuss issues, not Nawakwi’s inner thighs. Why do you think VJ hangs around while you spend hours blogging in vain. Look at Banda and Sata, do you see these old men slowing down at all? Continue insulting your mothers but don’t complain when roads are not paved, loadshedding becomes a regular feature of your life, unemployment ever increasing, crime a way of life and foreign invasion and subsequent subjugation of the…

  29. Another MMD NGO or seriously compromised think tank, if it is. Pyeeeeeeeeeeeeee RED CARD!

  30. Have you noticed how anger has made Nawakwi so ugly? Compare the beautiful smiling woman in this picture to the one in the other story. Or is it hunger?

  31. Katie Good! can a crying woman look beautiful? ON this picture she is smiling and looking beautiful. On the other she looks like she is reminescing a night ordeal. No not night ordeal….shiiiiiii….bed ordeal.

  32. Ya Nawakwi mangulenzi chumi!!!! at least you can show some degree of humanity and respect the head of state who is even far older thn you are. can you tell me that you can really be president of this country? you do yourself better by retiring from poltics. Kansi mwayauli mukolochi we? mwatuzewanya yamayo. be humane for once. how do think Thandiwe is feeling after showering her husband all names below the umbilical code like that. she feels it. plse plse twamulenga shut your mouth for your own good. you tell lies more so often. i cant say work towards reviving your party coz it does not exist anymore. you have killed it. General Tembo is turning in his grave. constructive criticsm does not mean using vauger language. we are not happy with you we Inamwanga and Mambwes. Mwatuzewanya pavula

  33. be carefull with what you are saying Yanawakwi. You will live to regret in future. mind you this is print and electronic media. one day what you say today will be used against you. this is friendly and brotherly advise
