Political violence exhibited by MMD cadres has blessings from RB, Guy Scott

Patriotic Front Vice president Guy Scott

Patriotic front vice president Dr. Guy Scott says the political violence exhibited by the MMD during by-elections has blessings from president Rupiah Banda.

Featuring on the MISA sponsored Livewire program on Radio Mazabuka on Saturday, Dr. Scott said reports of violence from Mufumbwe were steered by the MMD and that the opposition were just reacting in defense. Dr. Scott alleged that the ruling party was ferrying its cadres to Mufumbwe to go and scare the electorate and disclosed that one Marcopollo bus registration number ABM 5108 believed to belong to a named tertiary learning institution of Lusaka was on Friday night impounded with about 70 cadres armed with machetes heading to Mufumbwe.

Dr Scott said recent reports of violence from Mufumbwe were not the first ones saying different sectors have been complaining about violence by the MMD. He said the people of Mufumbwe especially those in opposition are defenseless and that they have no one to defend them because the police are partisan adding that they are left alone to defend themselves.

He said the president was day-dreaming to publicly allege that the PF councilors had pocketed the money meant for community services in the PF run councils. He explained that it was disappointing to have a president who never understood the operation of the council saying it was not easy for councilors to pocket council funds because they had no access to it.

Dr. Scott added that councilors and MP’s are policy makers and are not in the administration of the councils for them to sign cheques and pocket the money. Dr. Scott said even the insults that have purportedly been complained by the president were started by him.

[pullquote]Mr. Mumba also accused the inspector of police, Francis Kabonde of being compromised and failing to deliver despite making numerous deployments of officers to Mufumbwe.[/pullquote]

He said President Banda was always cheating people that he was not reacting to comments from the opposition when he was always attacking the two leaders during his addresses.

Meanwhile, New revolution party NRP president, Cosmo Mumba has challenged republican president to explain the uncertainties surrounding the recent violent attack of the United Party for National Development (UPND) spokesperson, Charles kakoma by the ruling movement for multi party democracy MMD cadres.

Mr. Mumba also accused the inspector of police, Francis Kabonde of being compromised and failing to deliver despite making numerous deployments of officers to Mufumbwe.

This is a constituency that has recorded some of the highest political violent cases ahead of the by elections slated for April 29th. He told QFM in an interview that the violence in Mufumbwe is unfortunate because it clearly seems to be having the backing of the highest office.

He says that the fact that the president and his government have remained adamant on the violent attack that was made on Mr. kakoma yesterday in the early hours of the morning by MMD cadres who forced their way into his room armed with all sorts of weapons.

[pullquote]Mr. Mumba also described it as nonsensical for the entire police force in this country to fail to find a mob of cadres who would have allegedly murdered a senior opposition leader such as Mr. Kakoma just to instill fear in all those who would want to support UPND during the by-election.[/pullquote]

Mr. Mumba also described it as nonsensical for the entire police force in this country to fail to find a mob of cadres who would have allegedly murdered a senior opposition leader such as Mr. Kakoma just to instill fear in all those who would want to support UPND during the by-election.

He stated that it is injustice for the police to take such a long time to identify the people responsible for yesterday’s attack when that would have not been the same case, had the opposition cadres been in wrong.

  1. Yes, if what i read in the post was anything to go by then the MMD and RB really sucks. You win elections by sellig your vision and intergrity not nonsensical behavior.:-?

  2. #1, for one moment I was fooled, please mention a paper with some integrity.
And Dr Scott has finally come out of the woodwork?

  3. That is why RB and His friend Banda are made off. If we do not let this guy gone in 2011, then will go 10 times back wards.

  4. What goes around comes around. One day this violence will visit the very people who seem to tolerate it today just because it is aimed at the opposition.

And what kind of leadership is the president trying to portray here? By his silence on matters such this, he is indirectly encouraging this kind behavior from his supporters. Doesn’t he realises that it is these sort of incidents and hooliganism that can lead to serious internal armed clashes that have far reaching consequences for everybody?

Such acts of violence have the potential of growing to a point where they become impossible to contain. Very soon this violence will be on the doorsteps of those who seem to be politically benefiting from it—-RB & MMD!

And what’s up with the POLICE?!

  5. Kabonde has no brains. He ran away and hid in an office when MMD cadres were rampaging in Mufumbwe!

  6. Looking at todays Post headline a sane person could conclude that Inspector General Francis Kabande have really failed to uphold the image of Police. How can a Christian Nation, with pipo like Senior Ciand .tezen, Chief Bot,kc and R$B start sponsoring machete thugs. Kabonde should resign for being a cadref and ailing to deliver despite making numerous deployments of officers to Mufumbwe..Come on guys

  7. In Zambia, the unemployed are really exploited because they do not know how to use their votes. Have you realised that almost all the constituencies have been configured such that they have a large proportion of the ‘shanty’ compounds. At election times the poor and unemployed, from the ‘shanties’ are just given chibuku, and off they go to vote for these politicians with no policies. My advice is, if you are unemployed, vote for the opposition!!! Continue voting for the opposition until when you have a job.

  8. All the time this violence in Rwanda, what is wrong with this country. Pangas, gangs etc, what a shame and a sham, oh sorry what was that? Its not Rwanda? You say its Zambia, I will be done, sorry my mistake.

  9. The big question is, WHY HAS MMD FAILED TO IMPLEMENT THE DECENTRALISATION POLICY?
Those close to MMD know that their fear is that Councils will perform better, especially the City and Municipal Councils which are under the opposition, and that would be a threat to the survival of MMD. This is the perception of those in MMD, its very sad to have such shallow minded leaders that can hold back the development of the nation for their own benefit at the expense of the masses.
Finally, are the MMD controlled Councils doing better than those under opposition?
Can MMD tell us why Councils they control e.g. Kaoma in W. Province, Milenge in Luapula and Isoka have had misappropriation cases (not misapplication)?
By the way, the Minister of MLGH, who’s MMD, approves all budgets for Councils.

  13. katie Good, u always confuse me. can you please expand on what you meant when you state you were almost fooled.you seem to think this is a joke.I wonder how long it will take for the opposition to start fighting fire with fire. I will be so happy when i hear that the police have been beaten up, and when the MMD dogs lose power, i pray the book of the law is thrown at them,RB(big nose),katie good, chiluba etc need to be thrown in prison,One day, justice shall prevail.my advise to you katie good is to shut your mouth, whatever the mmd is paying you,its not worth whats coming to you.Keep your legs and big mouth shut

  14. i have more respect for Guy scott than you katie good, his views are more sensible than yours.stay within your wood work. there is absolutely no point in debating policies with you katie or any of your peers(MMD leadership, cadres etc)many of whom behave like grade one drop outs.you are a fool who thinks you know everything when actually you are an empty head like ur big nose president,u can not seem to take advise,u remind me of a blind man in a dark room, looking for a black cat thats not there.like i have always stated,i feel so sorry for your children, which makes me wonder what your parents were like.charity begins from home,so i would not be surprised if your mother was like you, a bitch without morales.

  15. The time for self defence has come. Zambians dont have faith in the police that they will defend you …no. Its time I bought machets and Pangas for my parents in the village so that they defend themselves against the MMD. Enough is enough. Kabonde has clearly spoken to us that his police men and ladies are only for MMD. So its time we started defending ourselves. I will make sure that my parents have the machets and pangas to defend themselves against the MMD. This is how civil wars start, RB ,Kabonde and his minions will pay for what ever Zambia is going turn into.

  16. I too am very confused with this Katie Good;i bet she wants 2 see dead bodies thats when she will acknowledge the seriousness of the situation. To her its only credible when it s in the Times,ZNBC,ZDM,but then the question is can these report MMD violence!how sad!

  17. This violence should be condemed by RB, but he probably wont, just like he dosent comment on PF driven violence, which by the way has happened on much more numerous occasions.
This kind of violence is perpertuated by hothead illitrate cadres, unfortunetly sata falls into this group with a proven track record going back to FJTs 3rd year campain were he was distributing pangas..
Soon you will hear of PF attacking voters, dont get too excited RB haters.

  18. I do not support the violence and condemn it. We must have a peaceful electoral process.

I will however point out that some PF cadres are celebrating at this violence. This is exactly the type of violence and even worst some PF cadres want. It is not too long ago that Kalos2020 prayed for Zambia to head the Rwanda way. The genocidal maniac Kalos2020 is very excited and extremely happy with the violence.

  19. Mr Capitalist/kc
There was an article over the weekend about BUCKETS being banned from clinics by expectant mothers by Hon Simbao,i never saw your comments,so i took it you never read that article, and also the rebutt from Nawakwi, again i never saw your comments,,,the minister said the buckets were used for soiled clothes not placenta as earlier reported by Nawakwi,,are you in a postion to tell us what the buckets were used for instead. We treid to get answers from Katie good, who even said Nawakwi insulted RB but she couldnt elaborate. Please help us get to the bottom of this if you dont mind

  20. “are you in a postion to tell us what the buckets were used for instead.”

No I am not in a position to tell you what the buckets were used for. If you want an answer, go ask the clinics, the expectant mothers, Hon Simbao and any other officials in a position to answer that question, not me.

Why are you asking this question, is it to spread a lie or falsely accuse me of something like the numerous lies and false accusations you have spread about me (e.g accusing me of writing evils about Mpombo and his daughters without any evidence) or is it to try and silence me like you tried to do on November 25th 2009?

  21. “news flash for you knob-scratch,i dont engage you,i’ll speak my mind, will blog and above all i will track your ISP, IP address, crack your firewall, sniff your SSID,crack your wireless AP and get you ID”Smoothcriminal, MMD ready to iron out differences with Mpombo, Lusaka Times, November 25th 2009

It is funny that some of you guys cry about freedom of speech and yet you try to silence me by trying to intimidate me from blogging. Some of you guys are huge hypocrites.

  22. The Sekuru Mugabe tactics are not going to work in Zambia. If Banda thinks that he is going to rough people up into voting for him , he betrter ask KK and Chiluba.

  23. #2 you’re so full of it. The Post might be alittle off sometimes, but they give us insight of whats going on ( especially if MMD doesn’t want it to come to light)

  24. Numerous lies!!!! i take it you cant answer that simply because the Minister lied and you have no way of supporting that plain lie,im sure you have an opinion on this issue and decide to just ignore it
As for that issue with Mpombo,i mistook you for Senior Citizen aka BK who slammed Mpombo,by then i had not tracked him to find out who he was exactly, now that i know that you and BK are not one and the same person, i unreservedly apologise…
and for that comment on #22,it was not addressed to you, that was between me and BK who had challenged me to to identify him,and i did,so i dont see how it concerns you in this matter
for the record,i never cried about freedom of speech, and never tried to silence you in any way, unless you have some form of evidence,i’ll take it you are lying

  25. This extremely serious and we should all band together to condemn the violence. The fact that the police can be intimidated by thugs without any repercussions throws our nation years back. All this is being done in the name of MMD, a party conceived out the great desire for democracy. Unfortunately this party has been hijacked by 1970 UNIP mentality. We can’t allow this to go without punishment for those committing these crimes. We have been boasting of being the most peaceful nation in Africa, unfortunately that is no longer true. Let us differ in opinion and how we want to move our nation forward, but not through violence. William Banda should leave our country and go back to Malawi.

  26. “i take it you cant answer that simply because the Minister lied and you have no way of supporting that plain lie,im sure you have an opinion on this issue and decide to just ignore it”

EXCUSE ME!!!!! You asked if I was in the position to tell you what the buckets were used for and I answered you. I told you who to ask. How did I fail to answer the question? You asked if I was in the position to tell you what the buckets were used for and I told you NO I AM NOT. PAY ATTENTION

  27. #2 Katie Good- My friend much as you hate the Post this report is factual it was reported on all private radio stations, I mean the attempted murder of Kakoma. Even Minister Chilembo to day some what agreed on Radio Phoenix, by saying RB has instructed the MMD to stop the violence and called on other parties to do the same. The Post gives a chance to all parties unlike the MMD/GRZ media. One example is the complaint yesterday by some youth organization against HH’s statement that RB has small brain. The Post covered this story on a half a page, while the GRZ/MMD shinda papers failed to say anything about the involvement of William Banda in the stabbing of Kakoma by MMD thugs from Lusaka. If you think you will intimidate us by violence ask KK.

  28. Violence breeds more violence. We first saw violence in Solwezi. UPND used it to intimidate MMD supporters. Now violence is becoming the norm with UPND contested elections. We may have to ban UPND from contesting elections if violence continues. Soon PF will adopt the same nonsense.

  29. Capitalist,

Thank you for not acknowledging that I have a vision after seeing the desperation in your party MMD. Probably this is not the magnitude I foresaw. Wait until 2011. William Banda your angel of doom will be in full force. I am in the process of writing a book about how Rupiah Banda and William Banda started the war in Zambia which could claim millions of lives. And I am the only one who foresaw the evil of being bumbuli as a nation. Fr. Bwalya has tried to awaken Zambians to see the future, and you have ignored him.

  30. #31 Masebo…. I think you are so mean in your analysis man. You should be ashamed of yourself. You think the MMD violence is a joke hey? Just wait when all Zambians will buy Machets and Pangas in preparation for self defence against the MMD in 2011, is when you will know that violence istigated by the MMD with the help of the Police – Kabonde is bad. Know that people are leaving in fear especially that the Police cant protect them, and the only thing people can do is to defend themselves. THIS IS HOW CIVIL WARS START.

  31. kc- on Preliminary Report on Councils- I saw your question to day-Just to up date you.Today a Dr. Kazonga who is RBs Minister of LGH, reported that erring councils have been taken to court since last year. But we have not yet seen any of this either in the papers or radio. This was in question of how RB came up with those figures he gave us last week. The truth is the money that RB was quoting have not reached any council. If he talks about rate collection, yes , but we will still want to know how much he thinks the councils have been able to collect- emphasis “ABLE.” Personally I wouldnt want to be councillor, because it is hell. You get accused by ignarant residents or by a failed ruling party. They were quick with hearses, but not with ngungulu trucks

  32. Hire kadobi let him use his machetes on Guy Scott the “swine fever criminal”and repeat the chawama hacking spree for people to appreciate .

  33. # 35 Deja Vu, thank you for the explanation, still no one seems to know were the manee is disapearing to. as someone who is part of the resident association, dont you think it would be better to subcontract every thing out. Like garbge collection, and other councill duties ?

  34. #37 kc – There is company called Copperbelt Waste Management which collects refuse in Medium and High Cost areas. We pay by using of Water utility bills whether they have collected the refuse or not. The Councils are in charge of high density townships. Iam not giving excuses, but the amount of solid waste being churned out of these congested residencies have over whelmed the Councils due to inadequate trucks. Some times we have to encourage people to bury the waste because after leaving the sacks of waste on road sides the waste end up narrowing the roads. In short I would say the situation has been made incorrigible by long time political interferance in councils. Another problem now has spread to new ares where people are making soak aways because of sewer line are not available.

  35. I this KC is a congoles who does not care about Zambia ,but prepare yourself for a defeat in Mufumbwe
although you are getting Milanzi but come 2011 your shikulu will go kwa mugubbusu mulima with his small brain.

  36. if love zambia.you will condemn RB for now commenting on the violence been done in mufumbwe.the least the maimed govt can do is to preserve the peace the people of zambia have caved for themselves, because everything else has been taked away.there is MP whose is on record to have done or brought any meaning full development to any part of zambia .so it is just employment seeking to say the least .so please if kabombe can not do anything about it,them we should really support father bwalya .we vote for development and not because we are intimidated like RB thinks
