President Levy Mwanawasa was taken to hospital with chest pains on the eve of an African Union summit in Egypt on Sunday but was in a stable condition, medical sources said.
Mwanawasa had been due to take part in a meeting of the pan-African bloc’s Peace and Security Council on Sunday evening expected to be dominated by the crisis in his southern African country’s neighbour Zimbabwe.
But he was forced to skip the meeting after suffering acute chest pains which prompted his hospitalisation in the Egyptian Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh, medics and a delegate to the meeting said.
The Egyptian health source said Mwanawasa appeared to have suffered a heart problem and mentioned high blood pressure. According to the Egypt’s state news agency MENA, President Mwanawasa had a “sudden health problem”.
MENA further reported that Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Aboul Gheit was monitoring Mwanawasa’s treatment in Sharm el-Sheikh, and that President Hosni Mubarak had visited him in hospital.
MENA said Mwanawasa had fallen ill during a session of the New Partnership for African Development (NEPAD), aimed at reducing poverty and promoting good governance.
Mwanawasa was expected to be flown to Cairo, where better medical care is available, overnight or on Monday, Egyptian health sources said.

Keep on praying for our leaders.Bind those missiles especially the ones coming from Harare.
That’s not good news.Wish LPM the best.
ACS,PE(long flight),Dissection must be ruled out.
PTX unlikely.
I think as Zambians we need to tackle the weight issue because heart disease and high blood pressure has claimed to many lives. As a person on the chunky side I take stuff like this very serious.A little exercise and eating right can have a lot of benefits . As a young man who hasn’t started a family I know it would be selfish for me not to care about my health because my death might affect the people around me. Too many people in zed see being fat as ‘kudya bwino’ or ‘nibo beula’ syndrome when it’s not living healthy.
Hope he gets well in good time – as SADC chairman, Africa needs his insight, be they valid or not.
mugabe amulowa.Get well soon
I agree with #3 on the weight and heart diseases in Zambia. I know all over the world this is the common issue and has killed millions. We need to take care of ourselves and exercise as often as we could. PRESIDENT MWANAWASA WE WISH YOU A QUICK RECOVERY AND WILL PRAY FOR YOU. WE NEED YOUR LEADERSHIP.
I wish Levy well, and I have been reliably informed by my sources in Egypt that he is doing much better and might even attend the tail end of the conference to tell Mugabe to go to hell and marry the devil. There is no amount of wizardry Sekuru Mugabe can engage that will stop the inevitable, kuya bebele.
I wish our President a quick recovery in Jesus’ name.
Lets intercede for our Head of State.
Egyptian health source said Mwanawasa appeared to have suffered a heart problem and a third mentioned high blood pressure. Egypt’s state news agency MENA said that Mwanawasa had a “sudden health problem”.
Another Egyptian health source said Mr Mwanawasa appeared to have suffered a heart problem, but gave no further details.
Ba Levy, pliz get well soon. We dearly need ur exemplary leadership not only in Zambia but in Africa at large. May God therefore grant u his special healing that u may live 2 cherish Divine health in Jesus’s name!
mr president,i wish you a very quick and full recovery.God bless you in this regard,we love you.
Quick recovery Mr. President. We still want you around for many years to come. Hope God grants you His favour.
Mr. President pleae get well soon. We need you
Mr president, i dearly pray for your quick recovery. I can assure you that ,in the name of Jesus you are healed. Never fear anything, for God is on your side.

I wish you well, Mr President. May God touch and heal you. Praying for you. God bless.
Wishing LPM a quick recovery,we still need u bck home. Its also time u started grooming ur successor.
Sad development indeed, but we trust that you are healed your excellency in Jesus Name,AMEN!!!
Mugabe has bewitched our sc…levy.
Wish HE a speedy recovery. Would not wish ill on anyone.
Get well soonest Levy.
Caution to fellow Zambians: We need to change our diet, we take-in too much salt and generally our menu lacks in variety. In particular, please remember to regulate the amount of salt you eat! of course please continue exercising, among other healthy lifestyle measures. Take care all…spread the message.
I wish LPM quick recovery.
Firstly i would like to say thank to all above bloggers for showing soliadarity to our President as we pray for his recovery. Get well SOON, LPM.
Mr President, take it easy on the easy on the issue of Zim,know you got a heart but let that expired Mugabe get manhandled by his own police one dauy or get woman handled by his own army.Big up to all you concious brothers and sisters if there are any on what we take in(eat)
LPM get well soon we need your contribution at the AU summit. I hope its not Mugabe who has caused this. Just air out your views on the Zim Situation do not let it disturb you as it has done right now. Mugabe is there to see if he is still recorgnised by fellow leaders. get well soon LEVY you have tried on the Zim issue. we need you as Zambians.
I wish you well my big man you are always in my prayers.viva! my president.
Get well soon ba kaaamba ba Levy.
When you get back to State House, ensure that as a matter of urgency, you set up a personal fitness gym at State House so that you spend one hour everyday on you fitness. There is no need to lead a sedentary lifestyle with full access to processed foodstuffs of the modern age.
Leadership must be practised in totality. We are what we eat, do, and dream. Please get well soon as we need a lively president in State House!
surprise surprise we seem to have fake dietians all of a sudden regugitating all manner of trash. how should the issue of a heart problem suddenly bring about issues of diet. heart attack or blood pressure (high) can be caused by various factors. the president had a long flight and you know there are tarbulents up there and if you are like me this is enough to shoot your BP. the other factors are due to stress and being overworked. so to the so called therapists this brief is enough to dispute the widely held notion that High BP is because of poor eatig habits.
If I may suggest, can we desist from making this blog a “get well soon LPM” notice board? If any of you have ideas on how Africa can chart a way forward for Zimbabwe, I’d be happy to hear from you…deep down, we all want Levy to be well. But it’s the purpose he’s in Egypt we should be breaking down here.
Muzungu, You are really an ignorant person.
Heart problems are a result of many factors such as blood pressure, stress, smoking, diet with too much cholestorol, too much salt intake, too much stress, and a history of heart disease in the family. LPM’s physical appearance is not very good. He appears overweight and seems not to be exercising daily. I also suspect that Mrs. Mwanawasa is not assisting LPM by her involvement in highly visible activities that propel her into limelight nationally. LPM is therefore not finding enough time to relax at home as the wife is busy with activities that are indirectly stressful to LPM. She needs to take her mind off everything and make LPM relax at home
Tell me, which man would relax when the wife is out doing things that sometimes result in insults from opposition parties?
As far as I am concerned, LPM owes a life to himself. He must redefine the type of lifestyle he must lead himself. He needs to start eating more vegetables – Chibwabwa is great, nshima, flesi fisi, etc. And nono to beef, icifu, amatumbo, cheese, fried potatos, salted nuts, etc.

Ba levy you have Good quality leadership which all Zedians appreciate unless fools.Get well soon God loves you in Jesus’s name i pray Amen.
All the best to The President.Like #31 says the wife needs to influence the hubby to keep healthy. She is very key in all this.
Father in the Name of Jesus I bind that ailment,I speak deliverance and health in the life of Levy Mwanawasa in the Name of Jesus.
In the name of the almighty God you are healed. We can’t imagine loosing such a credible leader.Get well soon please ba LPM we love you and wishing you all the best.#19 be carefull the way you analyis issues. How did you know that mugabe bewitched Levy you must be a witch or a wizard also.
Muzungu, the Bible says my people perish for lack of knowledge.
Ngombe is right. Take time to do some research on the causes of heart problems.
Abena Gabriel nishani, mwayamba inkuni.
LPM wishing you a quick recovery
its only in africa were people think being fat is a good thing!
poverty!!!!! its embarrasing to have leaders that r so ignorant about health!
prayers don’t heal, the hands of medicine does!
Ba Uncle Bob ni ndoshi ka…..?
May God grant our president peace for we can look and seach no where for a Mwanawasa apart from the one we have.We need him for no one man can fill his place. All other issues now makes no sense but the life of our president.
Zimbabwean situation,if not handled properly, may engulf the entire sub region of Southern Africa into mass movement of politically and economically displaced Zimbabwean people.
African leaders should stop this high level of hypocrisy and double standard dealing, and call Tin pot dictator by his true name.Lets face the naked truth, most of these African leaders came to power by Juntas,Stealing of votes and many other crooked means. Mugabe knows them and hey, fellas,Uncle Bob is one of the most educated Tyrant-lets see who will point fingers at him in Egypt.
Finally, Ba Maureen should devote much time looking after her husband. To me he is a bit neglected by a wealth and fame-seeking wife.
Chimudala chi MUGABE FUSEKI STOP sending funny missiles to ba LEVI. Mr president get well soon.we dearly need you and come back home safely
By the way, lets stop all this superstition about whether one has been bewitched or not.We all know the heath of our esteemed President, its an open book. Such developments on his health status has nothing to do with ‘Star Wars’.He needs to slow down.TLC from a caring wife. However, the prince here wishes him God speed.Abash talk of witchcraft, that is retrogressive!!
Get well fast Mr.President we need your services.
My his excellence get well soon. For some of who thinks HE doesn’t do some exercises, actually he does go to the gym. I wish him well.
Like most of the blogger on here have already alluded to, I wish Mr President LPM SC good health. It is my trust that he is now doing fine and will be able to perform his remaining duties at the meetings.
#49, you are spot on. H.E. LPM does gym often and he invited those who are skeptical about his gymming to visit ,I think, CHamba Valley ZNS Gym where he does his exercises.
if it is not sata then it is LPM. why are our leaderrs so unhealthy?
#51 you have your facts right as a matter of fact when Sata was taken ill he was in the Gym, BP is a unique disease, weight is just one of the contributing factors, there could be other things. ANYHOW LPM ALL THE BEST. On a lighter note is it Mugabe’s shona concoctions!(LOL)
One Preacher said, he had stopped praying for people to who clearly had problems with weight and related complications but were continuing to ignore basic dietary or lifestyle principles. Whether or not our beloved pres sufficiently takes care of this is another question.
Not only the president but also all of us should begin to take interest in lifestyle issues to reduce risks on our health. It is not only indulging in well known things like womanising, over drinking etc that can endanger your health but also poor eating habits, what I call malnutrition (eating things that slowly kill you). This is not for the poor underfives only but also for the rich. Lets change. GET WELL MR PRES!
Wishing you a quick and full recovery Sir.
Our Beloved President wish you quick recovery. We are proud of you.
Let’s hope ba levy gets well soon. Politically, we need fit, young healthy leaders in the country. This should be part of the criteria if one is running for the presidency. The era of electing old aged people to occupy key national posts should come to an end.
#28 this only shows how ignorant you are of our president if you dont haave facts better you shut your beak. Levy does personalised gym exercises (he was called from his gym session when MCS got his heart attack) dont be so assumptious.
#30 Just shut up!!!!
Our president should consider to resign for the sake of his healthy, And i also wish him a quick recover
I know God’s hand will prevail over that illness .God who did let the children of Isreal to suffer prolongingly but delivered them,He will do the same to you brother Levy.Ba Maureen and family keep on praying for quickest recovery.By the way President Mwanawasa goes to the gym and he’s very serious about his fittness.
#59, if Levy resign who do you think is capable of replacing him? Maybe you have a choice help us.
wishing you a quick recovery Mr President
God please heal our President as you have always healed him before. We trust that under your care our President is safe.
We need Levy to continue ruling us,he is God given.
People who think like #61,that there are no people capable to lead Zambia other than Ba Levy, belong to the disused and abandoned stone age. They should just shut up and refrain from exposing their illiteracy, myopia, backwardness, immaturity and
stupidity.Remember that Madiba Mandela handed over the presidency a much younger and energetic Mbeki. You the people bewitching Zebigge through your senseless hero worshipping, atase! Go to the toilet if you are constipated, rather exposing your villagish mentality. There are so many capable people:Chekwe ,hakainde, prof Chirwa, etc.
#61 since i have being away from zambia for some time, its hard for me to suggest a person in levy’s state since it hard to keep track of zambian politics when you are away from the country.otherwise i appreciate your question.
I wish our big man a quick recovery. Lets continue to pray for him.
HH and Nevers Mumba are possible replacements of levy or even Prof Chirwa in terms of youthfulness and political maturity.
Prof Chirwa should step up his campaign, he is also a very possible candidate. Good health should be a criteria for the presidency.
We can have early elections this September and we should have a new president by 24th October 2008. Levy has had his chance, its time other people take over so that we can move the nation forward.
There are 10 million Zambians, if Levy has been president, then any of us can be. There is no shortage of leaders in Zambia as a whole. Definately MMD they are short of leaders as they have been exposed over the passed 17 years and none of them remaining there can take the nation forward. Getting into the office is one thing, basically may now be difficult to usher in anyone. Presiding over the affairs of the country is pretty easy, you have insitutuins and teams in place. That is basically keeping the status quo. LMP has basically done this in many areas. Hats off to him for fighting graft! But actually bringing meaningful development is another. Emplyment, health, consitution ect.
Mwanawasa must slow down, even Dick Cheney has health issues. He must slow down, travel less and delegate to VP and ministers.
It’s so nice to learn that many Zambians now have a change of hear towards the appoach of our leader.8 weeks ago,Sata and his suporters woud have rejoiced …God bless Zambia.get better LPM.we love you.
H.E QUICK RECOVERY AFRICAN PRESIDOS NEEDS YO COURAGE AT THE SMMIT
Its a pity our very own LPM is unwell at such a point when we need him as country and region. Issues to do with health should not be taken lightly or treated as a matter of mockery. LPM get well soon and we are behind you in your quest to find a lasting solution for zed and Zimbabwe. Ba Mugabe, no matter what type of concortions u’re using, people have spoken no matter the vote and its just moral for you to heed the counsel of people who mean well, and not that crop of chancers sorrounding you who fear for their future should you step down.
I think my Comrade war veteran a good friend at one time is trying to witch me…I do not know how i will address him during this summit is he the president of Zimbabwe or loser?.I cannot withstand this my people and country men and women. No one in this region is supporting me on this issue of my brother Robert Mugabe.Pray for me to heal quickly so that i come back home safely.
Wishing the President a quick recovery. And to continue bind all those demons from hell. Be well In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen
Wishing LPM a speedy recovery.I would like to agree with what bloggers have pointed out about the need for LPM to monitor his dietary intake.I wish to add though that it would be advisable that LPM goes through an anger management programme. This could help in the way he handles and withstands stress in his life and his capability of tackling any unfortunate trepidation.
LPM just resign, you are busy telling off Mugabe and yet you are also challenged. What is wrong with african leaders? we love power too much. i m deeply disapponited in you LEVY. you dare put your health on risk.shame on you.
Zambians are a bunch of amazing pipo, we are full of pity on one person who has access to the best medical care, and best medical personel and yet he choses to ignore his medical condition. What is wrong with us? LPM has dieticians,an educated wife, etc but he still plays the ignorant, i for one dont have pity on the man. If you are sick, you resign, there is no two ways about it.Bloggers dont waste your get well soon messages and time on a sturborn man.He is no different from Bob Mugabe.
ya Mwanawasa’s issue reminds me of one presiednt in the middle east Sharon who had a problem like him. he has been in coma for many years. bane there is nothing bad like seeing someone sick. those that rejoice when one is sick are sick in their heads……you are the pipo that would say some deaths are nice…….
with all medical facilities at his disposal and yet he cant get beta, i can imagine what can happen if he was as poor as me.
Well said # 77 Maureen mwanawasa is to blame.how can a wife not look after the husband,
poor Levy, you have done your part just step down. Ala walachisha icalo cino. You cant sort out all our problems + Zimbabwes so just come back from Egypt, resign and chill. B a kaunda balikosa. He managed to liberate 4 southern African countries not even one dday was he ever sick in a foreign hospital. But imwe boss just Zimbabwe na system ya pena,
ZNBC says he had a stroke, number two in two years. Levy must step down or transfer a lot of duties to Veep and be a lame duck Prez until elections.
The President will be fine , so that he can tackle the zim issue
What’s wrong with african leaders kanshi?
I am feeling annoyed by some contributors’ignorance and the way they expose it here. hypertension can not be cured. It can only be controlled and sometimes even if someone takes medication everyday, he/she will still in the have stroke. LPM is lucky in the sense that he is only having minor strokes, a lot of people just collapse or have major strokes. What medication is doing is just bringing down the BP to normal levels. usually after a certain period it stops working anf they have to switch to another one. There are a lot of thin people with hypertension as well. My guess at the moment is that LPM is very stressed about Mugabe, he just came from campaigning in Milanzi
#76,77,80 n others ..i wonder how many of you have fallen sick and you decided to resign.
#70- It just shows how we love peace as Zambians.
I think it is time our honorable president did the honarable thing. He has been so secretive about his illnes so this time for it to be exposed so quickly only means that he was very sick for real. For the Egyptians to airlift him to Cairo, it is a bad sign.
#65 Thanx, see on current Zambian politician i see only a few if not two as some of my bloggers have mentioned, Living in the diaspora for at least a decade, i have followed Zambian politics Levy and a few have impressed me. Get well LPM. Jah Guide
and was about to see the ugly face of Mugabe in Egypt. That has surely contributed. As a person with BP and in his last term of office LPM must reliquish some of the uties he is currently doing. In additon LPM has travelled has travelled like a mad person of late and who is never anxious when we go to new places.
My advice to felow Zambians is to have interest in some of the major conditons like hypertension.
#84 only a fool will continue to risk his health. LPM was quick to retire sikatana what is special about him not retiring. He cant save Zambia alone, he should do his part and let others do theirs.Let us not re live the KK rhetoric of lets go back to the land and yet when retirement came the man went to Joburg. LPM is sick, he must step down and join sikatana period
# 64, thanx for you comments but truelly tellin you im not of you level, call yourself prince, oh God help. You callboys of politicians only what you know is to give silly comments. I would have given you the same but i dont want to be judged like you. My question was a mere simple question ” if Levy resign who do you think is capable of replacing him? Maybe you have a choice help us”. Is there anything wrong in this. Thats way you fail in your academics.
levy is diabetic and hypertensive. This is his second stroke in two years and the third one might be fatal!
Awe ba LPM get well soon. Let us look to God for the healing of our kateka.
All i see is Zambians creating a monster. it looks like we dont have leaders.LPM is sick let him retire. Im sure there are millions who can rule this country.Let us not cling to Levy, he is just a couple of months to go before 20 11 if he wont accelerate his departure.LPM must get well soon out of state house, we love him as a person but he will be no good to anyone if he passes.
uncle levy, shld recover fast. reduce on moving around the world. the AU meeting a fruitless, it is just a group of old man who love power, that is why mugabe is welcome in such a group. shame on most of african leaders.
#89 anyone can replace LPM. are you saying if LPM died today Zambia would close down? You are such a let down mister, your thinking is below par. Did you know LPM was gotten from a farm? that shows you that anywhere we can get a leader. leadership is not predictable, so dont look at the the group of lunatics who are on the surface, expand your search and you will find leadership to take Zambia to the next level. Look at Obama, the new Botswana president, Yar Adua of Nigeria
#88 I AGREE with you sir our President forced Sikatana to resign coz of his healthy, And from the way we SEE in our president there’s no difference from what he discribed Mr Sikatana. He must step down for the sake of his healthy. We love our president and we wish him a quick RECOVER.
Quick recovery to Dr.Mwanasawasa…and return to duty.
More than ever, we need to be electing vice presidents in Zambian as well…I hope the current NCC can recommend this issue becoz No.2 official in Zambia need to be choosed by the people. Vice presidents need to be on the ballot as well to be choosen by Zambians…this is a stragetic position to avoid political vacuums in future…
Just like the way she facilitated the death of LPM’s mother by denying her access to his son’s vehicles, Maureen will ultimately facilitate the death of her husband. E problem yama second wives. She is too materialistic and selfish; always flying him all over the world despite his poor health just so that she can do some shopping and sight seing. At home she doesnt even have time for him; if she is not on TV, she is busy screwing statehouse help like darlington mwape. Abash maureen
kwena, guys you’ve got kalijo…
Vice Presidents in Zambia need to choosen by the people…Lets have two candidates on the balot otherwise we will end up with someone in state who was not choosen by handpicked by the former president…
get well soon your EXCELLENCE we need you now more than ever!
President Mwanawasa who is admitted to an Egyptian hospital is said to have suffered a stroke.
Vice President Rupiah Banda who made the disclosure said his condition is stable.
Isnt it the second stroke? LPM is over weight too
imichopo ya mu state house has clogged his system! he needs a gastric bypass to save his life
Hope he gets well soon. Like someone said earlier, we need to start addressing weight issues and eating habits in Zambia. This unfortunate incident should spur us to develop a national policy on healthy living
97, typical Zambians why blame the wife? Two strokes in two years not good.
Let us wish our president a quick recovery and we continue praying for him.
Mupole bwangu bakateka besu,WE REALLY NEEED U AT THIS CRITICAL TIME OF ZIMBO
We pray that our dear president gets well soon. He is such an inspiration to the people of zambia and the world at large. We as Zambians, get credit for such an intelligent and selfless president. May the Lord heal our beloved president.
Get well soon sir!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Let us wish our president a quick recovery and we continue praying for him. Brothers and sisters, you can have twice or third time depend on how it strike a person. One can live for many years, also fortune matters.
With LPM sidelined, Mugabe will escape with a light admonitions from the rest of the AU. I honestly expected my President to give RGM a tongue lash on the recent events in Zim. Fate has a way of favouring fools, like Mugabe.
Leave Mugabe out of this, mwe ma fools nimwebo.
wish you a quick recovery and tell Mugabe off! let him step down or been impeached! We love you LPM. best wishes
Get well soon Levy
Quick recovery señor presidente
The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”
(James 5:16b). We make fervent prayers for H.E in his trying moment.
Get well soon Mr President, you owe me that Diplomatic posting and still waiting.
Back to AU summit in Egypt
Another blow to the pro Tsvangirai apologetics here immorally soliciting for crumbs to imperialists in surrender of their birth rights.
Get well soon levy, please come back home and step down gracefully for the sake of the country and for your own health, you have done your part.
“UNHOLY CONTEMPTUOUS HYPOCRITES’ DICTATES TRASHED”
African Heads of states meeting in Egypt restrained in criticizing Mugabe, snubs imperial dictates and calls them unholy contemptuous hypocrites. The African heads of states attending the African Union summit in the Egyptian Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh were restrained and Afrocentric in their criticism of President Robert Mugabe of as expected by critics of the Zimbabwean leader.
President Mugabe who presented himself before African leaders Monday had vowed to confront African critics who call his 28-year rule illegitimate. Many of the comments made by African heads of states were restrained according to sources in Sharm el-Sheikh.It was reported that in opening remarks, African presidents cited a series of clashes between Djibouti and Eritrea several times more than they mentioned the situation in Zimbabwe.
Reduce the amount of SALT you eat, heart disease, stroke and BP are all linked to eating too much salt. If you don’t know your science go read rather than blaming me. It is not just Levy, the last time I looked nearly all those who have been flown to RSA had one or more of the above complications. I am not saying this is the sole cause but it is one of them, and clearly a major one — do credible research to disprove my conjecture.
Get well soon Levy.
“Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, the summit’s host, did not include Zimbabwe in the ranks of nations whose problems he said the African bloc must address,” said a report by the online version of the Washington Post.“The African leaders made no immediate public statements on the validity of the Zimbabwe elections.”
“I’d like to congratulate the Zimbabwe people on their success, but I’d also like to commiserate with them in their suffering,” Tanzanian President and current chair of the African Union, Jakaya Kikwete was quoted as saying to the leaders.
I see Chamachama pinduzi has pumped wisdom in their serving President.Africa must solve their own problems without external dictates from hypocrites who have denied us pride and actualization for over 200 years.Since when they become darlings of black Munthu?
Just the idea of sitting next to Mugabe at the AU summit scared him into a stroke!!!
lol 124
people stop addressing msg like LPM will read them. This is a blog site…if u want to send get well msgs go to statehouse website or call him on @ 93-41012
i want to join the President of Tanzania in CONGRATULATING the people of Zimbabwe. These people love their country!!!!
#123, you’ve no clue about how we’re suffering, and why we didn’t want Bob. You’re so odd and old, and a victim of propaganda. I just wish you were here (Arcadia), for you to see how Bob won. I bet you’d have been one of the thugs that raped my grand mother for your ‘freedom fighter’ to win. I bet you’re living confortable in the West, with pride and dare to say you’re not considered a darling by them.
Latest information he actually suffered a stroke but reports saye he stable. This is really sad, I thought he was over this problem that seems to have dogged him through out his Presidency, anyhow I am hopeful he shall overcome this one too.
thankyou # 23
i wish him well, but if he dies, Mugabe can be our good choice for caretaker president in the mean time
Facing bob has freaked him out, more so that this time bob said he wanted to face his detractors face to face. LPM just couldn’t settle with this prospect; especially after the Mulungushi saga when Bob told him off. As a president of an independent country, he should learn to stand his ground, with things as they are, Bob need only send a few thugs across the border, & we will have more than a security crisis, but a Presidential Crisis too!!
Cholestrol levels need to be checked regularly? The misconception in Zed is that “weight gain is a sign of good living and milile.” we are blessed that much of our food is generic and yet we do not take time to exercise. Sleeping “panaka” is not the only exercise we should participate in? find time to exercise at least 3 to 4 days a week. I am 40 and still in good shape as i exercise regularly? i had high cholestrol two years ago and have cut on my protien intake (eggs) and milk. I take soya milk or skim milk and has increased my exercise routine to burn the idle fat in the system? i wish LPM well and let him adopt a vegeterian diet?
Ci Mugabe necinso tacibipapo filya! wabipila kumo nomutima, your days are numbered. You have scared our president now he is sick. You need to be caged we cisatanawe.
All of you bringing up other issues outside of the tragic fact that the President has suffered a serious stroke need to revaluate your priorites. This is not the time to address issues of nutrition or whatever you think of the first Lady. That time will come folks and for now i can only ask that it is only proper that we pray for the health of our head of state and his family. May the lord give him strength for a quick and full recovery and allow his family to stand strong in the face of this adversity.
#135 you have missed the point entirely…
MUSYE CHABE ATOPINGE UMOYO AMWELEPO YENANGU MUNZAKO NDABA CHALO CHINZUNA IWE,KAPENA AZA FIKAPO MAILO……SING ALONG.GET WELL SOON LPM.U VE GOT VISION BUT FEW ARE THERE TO IMPLEMENT IT EFFECTIVELY.
Sorry Malooza if you think i missed the point but thats your opinion. Like many of the other bloggers, i’m very aware of the many social and health issues that challenge our nation, Obesity among them. I just think that it is not a very respectful thing to seize this tragic moment to initate debate on Obesity and other matters that have been raised before we even know full expert diagnosis and prognosis. Some have gone so far as to bring up his imminent passing while others are throwing stones at Maureen. I think we need time to reflect and gather facts, otherwise we are being disrespetful. Its Ok to tell me i’m wrong.
Get well soon Mr. President
138 nishi taking things personal are you over weight or obese? Saying sorry or praying for LPM will not put food on my table. Either way my situa is still the same the guys he has promoted, hired and favored are the ones to pray not me.
Nonname: We are nearly on the same page now. I know it is a tragedy but let’s not forget that every event in life is a lesson, put in a different way, a learning experience. I think as Zambians or maybe Africans, we tend to attach too much time and effort on things we can not change. A lot of times at the expense of those we can actually change. I am afraid in this case sitting back too long mourning or reminiscing or reflecting or whatever pausing terms we want to attach to the bad news before us, maybe yet another missed opportunity. I understand that people deal with realities differently. Let’s morn with a sense for the future of our country bearing in mind our past experiences! Cheers
# 97 , you must be a very big fool. You gat to clip your dirty mouth. You must be a pain in the aaaaaaaaaa.
AMEN TO #97
LPM is not physically fit to be our president. His two heart attacks in two years are a warning sign to all of us citizens of Zambia that we must get our act togather and start looking for a president to do a thousand times better than LPM in managing and developing Zambia.
IT is sad that LPM has been largely a time waster in terms of handling the problems facing the vast majority of our people. He has been giving away resources to benefit a few of his friends at the expense of the vast majority of our people. I also notice that he has ensured that some chiefs where our natural resources are located have been willing participants in defrauding Zambians by accepting trinkets for allowing
massive exploitation of these resources by economic hoodlums.
LPM needs a rest..soon. The third heart attack will be final and we may not see him again. This is why a good education is critical in national development. I suspect that our lawyers while at UNZA are not compelled to do a few courses in stress management or human development courses. For how can one accept that nearly all lawyers in Zambia are this ignorant on good health and personal hygiene? I guess this is why they allow the UTH to have no water on 24/7 basis!! Ignorance really kills!
#111 we cnt leave mugabe alone coz u knw why levy being the good president its stress him to see how that arrogant mugabe is sitting on top of every zim person ,our big man jst doesnt just know what to do anymore.may the hand God be upon your life tata wesu
Ngombe – We chin’ngome we! mooo mmooo

Mooo! Mooo! To you. LPM is a failed leader. He had a great opportunity to overcome all our problems by ensuring that he set in place policies that were pro-Zambia and work hard to see that our kids get a better education than he got so that freedom is realized for the vast majority of our people. Instead he has dwelt on rhetoric and has thrived on theatrical corruption court cases without real justice being done. Our auditor general is currently swamped with financial irregularities in our public service and LPM has done nothing to punish those responsible.
Levy must have been scared of facing Mugabe at AU. That could have triggered his Stroke.
LPM. Please take some rest and don’t be scared of that spent force Mugabe. all you have to do is ignore him and the world will deal with him.
Get well soon Patrick…!!After which you should seriously consider retiring. You only have one life to live. Somebody else will lead the country.
Every one nor matter how health catches up with misfortune one way or the other. For to live is to risk ill health and death. No sane man, no rational mortal being can fill his cup with so much hatred and ill feelings for one on his sick bed or even conderm one to death nor matter the issue at hand.
#89 of course we cant be at the same level but i gave you a very professional advice, like everybody else has, such as #94.You see Zambia is blessed with many capable and qualified people who can step into LPM’s shoes and lead this great nation of Zambia.I have taken time off my busy schedule to respond to you because we need by all means possible,to erase that mentality from amongst us.Abash wamuyayaya mentality!!
With Levy out of the political game (due for retirement), it is time we look at other potential leaders in the country.
Early elections will do the country some good.
LPM still in hospital? Thankfully, Egypt has many medical doctors. The place is awash with medical doctors, and I am sure that he has been taken through a CT scanner to see tha amount of damage done to his heart by the blood pressure. In some cases, they could also scan his brain to check if there has been any bleeding into his brain as a result of the stroke. Egypt has good medical facilities for .. those with money. Better that we have African looking after our president than Europeans the way LPM like them! We should have set up some excellent provincial medical centres of excellence if we really had a good leadership in Zambia. KK started the ball game of creating our own institutions..
but the MMD trashed them all instead of looking at their management and build up their institutional capacities to become better than under KK!
LPM needs to answer the question, for how long are we as Zambians going to be seeking proper medical care abroad when we can do everything ourselves? Isn’t this why we went to school, to build ourselves an excellent nation for the vast majority of our people?
The presdo should be advice to step down his heart is now too weak (bcoz of 2times stroke) to contain the pressure the presindency carries plus other countries problems like zimbo’s problems!
# 158 remove spacing
Where is Nevers Mumba?
# 157 space removed lol
sikatan retired due to ill health on advice of our very own president, its about time our president did the same as he is physically much worse off.his health cannot be blamed on his wife, thats ridiculous.it would have been nice if chiluba and sata had got the same good will messages that mwanawasa has got.
According to Egyptian press release at 12.00hrs Levy is still in ICU.There are waiting for the ministry of health to issue a statement. It does not look too good for Levy
Mr President may the lord God almight guide you as you recover.
May the Lord guide you so that you finish what you started in Eygpt with your Team.
#161, that data does not sound good. I hope all will be fine for us as Zambia.
we hope he ges better not because he is the best choice we have but as a fellow human being. sometimes we wish our politicians could just fall sick and die, mugabe for one , i know that sounds evil , but if one person puts his well being above others then he is no use to them, all you so called mfwitis , do something constructive for the first time, you mean the dude has better magic than all’ya.
The sit next to Zimbabwe is vacant, it was to be occupied by LPM since countries are arranged alphabetically.
Mugabe is lucky,he knows together with all his fellow cowards(African Presidents)what Levy would have told them about notorious Mugabe.
Levy has nothing like half truth, all he knows is 100% truth,LONG LIVE LEVY,LONG LIVE ZAMBIA..
It is very sad that Mwanawasa is not feelin well. Zambians stay put, God is watching your leader will be fine.
I wish our hardworking President a quick recovery,he is seriously ill and will be transfered to a specialist hospital in Europe however he is stable.
To all those saying Mwanawasa should change his diet,do you actually see the food he eats,am sure only his family knows what he eats and please remember that not all obese or fat people get that weight as a result of food, some people will always be fat because of the genetic make up of their body, this has been proved and now the U.K has authorissed doctors to prescribe a cholesterol and fat reducing drug to such patients affected.Am sure most of us have small bodied relatives or friends who suffer from high BP,it’s one of those things.
I think a prayer meeting should be arranged in Zambia to specificaly pray for our leader. May God bless him so that he is healed quickly. We love you LPM (SC).
I hope he gets out of ICT, gets back home to his family and retire as President. There is more to life than being a President. He needs to save himself and spend some time with his family. Politics is a stressful job and one needs to be physically fit to handle all the challenges that come with the job. Look at Obama, young and fit, president of Bostwana, young and fit. In fact most leaders around the world are fit healthwise. When picking leaders, we need to make sure they are in good health. I dont know were we are going as a country. The president is sick, the biggest opposition leader is also sick. The vice president is an old bag. We need to encourage senior citizens to retire in time.
when was the last time he went to mfuwe?this time he should rest somewere else it might help..
most of our leaders have kalombo kamatenda a….
wishing our president a quick recovery
Even most young leaders have kalombo kamatenda ya aids!!
Why doesn’t LPM travel to Musungwa Lodge for a week with a young thing for company? It is proven that alot of sex is really good for men. Surely the OP can organize an outing for him to rehabilitate his body without the ambitious Maureen around him! Heck! That woman is not a house maker. She is so ambitious that she has forgotten that people respect her for being LPM’s wife and not as herself! She was nothing until people found out that LPM was the pres. and she was his wife!
African women must respect their roles if there is to be stability in their marriages. Now LPM’s health is in danger due to all the numerous factors such as an overly ambitious wife!
Mr President I saw you for the first time in person on Saturday at the church gathering just before you flew away to Egypt. I hope and pray it wont the last. Wish you quick recovery.
Levy mwanawasa shouldn’t have come out of retirement to become President of Zambia. I bet if he had stayed out of politics, he wouldn’t even have a stroke, let alone a second one. This is what happens when one forces matters. I hope when he comes out of ICU and hospital, the family especially the wife, should be couragous enough to advise him to step down from active politics otherwise he might not be very lucky next time another stroke gets the better of him.
It is no wonder that Zambia is not progressing as fast as it should with a half dead misleader at the helm. Is there a shortage of fit young men and women or is the undeclared shortage of common sense not plain for all to see?
Slow down big man slow down. We dont want you dead. Like any living human, you have something to contribute to our progress.
FELLOW BLOGGERS STOP ADDRESS MESSAGES ON THIS BLOG TO LEVY COZ HE IS NOT READING THEM. GO TO STATEHOUSE, EGYPT,OP IF YOU WANT TO PASS ON A MSG.
ONCE AGAIN LEVY HAS NO TIME TO READ YOUR MSG. THIS BLOG IS MEANT TO DISCUSS “President Mwanawasa taken ill” WHAT ARE YOUR COMMENTS?
HELLO!!!!!!!!!
Lazzzy,
You missed the point of a blog. You have a choice of wether to read this blog or not.
So who is representing ZED at the conference? Levy must find a way to get fit. STOP THAT RED MEAT. Ukutemwa fried food. Steam some Veggies and go jogging or ride a bike around State House every evening. Inchinga ubwingi. Get one from Chipata. Levy’s statement in Mkushi during campaigns will always haunt him. He said “I like to eat that’s why I want you to grow more food”. That I think was a killer, and for one to say that and then we look at his body, that brings some concern.
#182, Mr Minister of Finace and National Planning, Ng’andu Magande, has been representing Zambia. He was visibly noted as sitting next to Mugabe at the meetings.
Ba State Counsel balalya sana! Bafwile bachinja. We as Zambians should get to the point where public health education should include obesity….the Prez should lead the way. Putting on weight is not a sign of prosperity it is a sign of impending ill health even mortality. While I wish him a quick recovery, he should as should all Zambians cut down on food portions. This takes a lot of discipline which we as Zambians lack in several other areas such as HIV pandemic (failure to be disciplined to abstain, be faithful to one partner or use protection) or even our soccer players. An example of the combination of both the food and indiscipline problems is Collins Mbesuma.
Lets take note of obesity.
Chest pains & High blood pressure may present together; High blood pressure & stroke may present together too, however quite rare to suffer both a stroke & heart attack at once. His BP should have been very high to suffer both at the same time, which could exemplify a poor control of his BP! Someone needs to give us the true story of what happened, for we don’t want to hear that he is jogging along the Champs Elysee like we heard the last time he was in London.
nk
Best wishes for a speedy recovery.
Zambia needs you ‘back on deck’.
Our special thoughts for Mrs. Mwanawasa and family.
My president,l strongly pray to God almighty that you receive divine healing permantly. There is nothing impossible with God.All is well with our creator.
