Faz has turned the heat on Mufulira Wanderers after Sunday’s riot at Shinde Stadium that led to the late abandonment of their Faz division 1 north week 16 game against Kitwe United.
“Mighty” fans mounted a pitch invasion in the 87th minute after Humphrey Mumbi’s late equalizer as Wanderers enjoyed a 1-0 lead up to that stage.
The Fans later took their anger into the Shinde car park were they shattered the windows and damaged United’s team bus and the away side official’s vehicles.
Faz says it will deal with the case “expeditiously” and that hooliganism had no place in the game.
Football House today also sent out official letters to both Wanderers and United to give their respective versions of Sunday’s riots.
Meanwhile, Wanderers have since issued a statement regretting Sunday’s incident.
And in the abandoned game, Wanderers took the lead in the 55th minute before referee Robinson Mbewe awarded United an 87th minute penalty.
Humphrey Mumbi went on to convert the penalty before bedlam ensued.
Wanderers currently lie 3rd on the division 1 table on 29 points from 17 league games.
The Shinde side together with 2nd placed Zamtel on 31 points are battling for the second promotion place behind runaway leaders Forest Rangers on 39 points.
The 9-time league champions and cup campaigners have been relegated twice since they debut demotion in 2002 before briefly returning for one season to the top-flight in 2005.
The incident at Shinde comes a year after Faz handed Nkana 12-month stadium ban from May 2007 due to hooliganism.
Nkana were barred from playing all their home games inside Kitwe including Kalulushi and Chambishi before the ban was lifted at the end of last season.
Manje banankala ni Maite Ilusa Ichungulo? Useless behaviour.
Let them be playing home games in Lusaka. The crowd will be there for them and they will be able to make Kang’ono.
Shameful indid ba mighty!
Shame om my team. Those were not real supporters but hooligans who should be caged. Shame!
Shinde should improve on security though mighty has to be disciplined over such barbaric behaviour deterioting the level of Zambian Football. On the other hand,FAZ should allow for games to be covered and achived incase of a need to analyse any anomalies to allow for improvement of referring in the country. In the southern region, zed referes are known to be match fixers ,so i wouldn’t be surprised if the mob happened to be right,am not saying they should have done it ,but somebody had to do it…….
Its very true that whilst other people are striving hard to build under straineous conditions,a smaller fraction on the opposite hand is also working zealously to destroy.how do you hope to compansate yourselves for a loss suffered using violence against an innocent spectator?how do you make progress in life by commiting a crime when you know your next room is no other than a prison cell? the best is to sponsor the team by providing financial support so that the it improves to a level where it stops losing critical matches.buy players with enough skill to delver the goods.thats how it works and no other way.how much is the team to pay in damages?what if a ban comes?change your mental calibre
Very embarrasing indeed. I can imagine if the game was being televised live on Supersport. FAZ should deal decisively with Mighty. Am sure it will even affect their promotion campaign to the Premier League.
Talking up the FAZ/Supersport deal, its like Zedian league games wont be televised live on Supersport. There is a programme running on SS3 called ‘Mpila Zambia’ which basically shows highlights of some selected FAZ league games. I felt at home to watch games played at Woodlands, Nkoloma and Sunset stadia.

Zambia has risen on the fifa ranking to #67 in the world and 14th in africa.
Ba mighty nishani kanshi? Just fight on the pitch.
Ba mighty ya shani yo? Just fight on the pitch.
This is an acid test for Kalu, will he fairly discipline his mother club? Why not just charge the club with a penalty of say K25 Million. Suspending the club will just hit the innocent players where it hurts the most.
#9 Although the stadia leave a lot to be desired. How do you watch games standing in this day and age? Come on Zambian business and government! Support the sport.. build proper stadia!
Mighty is my team and indeed I can not condone such barbaric behaviour. I know Mighty supporters want to see the green and white boys back in the big league but such actions are wrong.
Very sad development indeed. Mighty have always accepted the results whether negative or not and this is really unacceptable.
FAZ please make your ruling fair and firm. We don’t want hooliganism to creep into our already unattractive league
Mighty has always been my team and it continue being my team. Whether in division 1 or premier, and it hurts to see my fellow supporters act in such a manner. Come guys let us just rally behind our team and encourage them to work extra hard.
Kutumpa uku. This should not be tolarated. FAZ ahould ban all league games to be played at Shinde for the reminder of the season. This will make them realise that what they did is wrong and unacceptable in the footballing circles.
Mighty is Mighty
Big teams, lead by good example.Stop the fight play the game.In each game, there is a loser. Losers should be good leaders. EYES ON THE BALL.
SORRY! NOT LEADERS BUT LOSERS.
Mighty is my team whether it will remain in division 1 or go in division 2 but i appeal to my fellow supporters to behave. Gone are the days when we used to ‘ukuwina ichungulo’ Am wishing U guys all the best for the remaining games and God bless you All
