Village concept addresses underdeveloped rural areas- HP

Share

THE Heritage Party (HP) has said that the Village Concept is the only manifesto that offers to address issues of underdevelopment both in rural and urban areas of the country.

HP spokesperson Waziah Phiri said in an interview in Lusaka that currently, only the urban areas were being developed because the existing national leadership did not have a workable concept to improve rural areas.

Mr Phiri said that under the Village Concept, which the HP had been propagating for a long time, there would be equitable distribution of wealth between the urban and rural areas.

If such was the case, Mr Phiri said that both the urban and rural areas would be developed simultaneously.

Mr Phiri said that currently, what was happening was that only the urban areas were developed and dwellers from the rural areas were abandoning the places resulting into urban areas getting over populated.

“If the Village Concept was to be applied, all development would not only be centered in Lusaka but the entire country. Wealth should be equitably distributed and not as the case is,” Mr Phiri said.

He said that besides the Village Concept ensuring that the wealth of the nation was equitably distributed, it would also address the plight of women, the youth and other vulnerable citizens.

Mr Phiri said that currently, the vulnerable in society were marginalised and the HP was determined to reverse the trend.

He also cautioned the electorate against falling prey to promises by leaders of some opposition parties.

Mr Phiri said most leaders had in the past failed to fulfill their promises and therefore wondered how the electorate should this time around trust them.

“One such promise which had been made by some opposition party leaders is the recognition of the Barotse Royal Establishment.

“The problem we find with some politicians is that they make promises which they themselves know that they would not fulfill. The people should look at the track record of these leaders,” he said.

Among the presidential aspirants in the October 30 polls, Mr Phiri said that the HP candidate Godfrey Miyanda (above) was the only leader who could not fail to fulfill his promises.

He said that if Zambians were serious about seeing the country develop, they should vote for the HP candidate.

“If our country wants a leader that will not fail them then they should vote for us. We are the only ones with a track record for all to see,” Mr Phiri said.

  1. shame ba general mwee. You would have carried the day if only….look at your age- ideal. Background “Mr Integrity”. We shall miss you. Good luck anyway.

  2. What has destroyed Gen Miyanda is his quiet diplomacy policy from Mbeki. When the GEn looses a war(elections) he goes into hiding.UNZA was closed his friends were talking him silent. In short he is never there for the people when they need him. So how can he be popular with such an approach.People need someone who will be there for them come rains come sunshine.

  3. NOW YOU ARE TALKING THE WAY THINGS ARE AT THE MOMENT ZAMBIANS HAVE REALISED ALL THE 3 PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES ARE NOT FIT AND THEY ARE LIARS IT IS ONLY MIYANDA WHO IS CAPABLE OF DELIVERING GO MIYANDA GO WE ARE VOTING FOR YOU THE MAN OF INTEGRITY

  4. These chap in HP act strange, how do they expect us to trust them? Miyanda hardly talks about his manifesto, he doen’t not want to be interviewd and i have never seen him held a rally and they expect people to wake up on 30th October and vote for HP. HP my foot, i wonder what his plans are especially on the comment he made saying “there are many ways of killing rat”.

  5. Do you know why the Village concept cant work,Gen Miyanda has never lived in any village.Where is he now in town.Atleast if he was in the village we would know what he is talking about.

I dont think the Gen even himself believes inthat viallage concept.

  6. Yashani im not seeing my comments contributions. why ba LT. yashani iyi. I have done a comment on the general not coming out why?

  7. THIS MAN REMINDS ME OF KABWE SAGA (DR. CHONGWE & KAUNDA), USELESS BILLS (PUBLIC ORDER ACT, CHILUBA SLUSH FUNDS)BRAIN DRAIN AT UNZA WHEN BEST LECTURERS WERE DISMISSED,HORRIFIC 2001 UNZA BEATINGS ETC

WHICH MR.CLEAN. ASK COMMIWE (SHE WAS PUSHED FROM ROOF TOP AT ZAMBEZI 1. UPTO NOW HER SPINAL CODE IS DAMAGED.

  8. yaba #2 has made me laugh too much. It’s true the General watches too much “Home Alone Video” after that he watches the “GoDs MuSt Be CrAzY PaRt IV”. thereafter he takes a very long Nap!!!! to woke up when elections loom.
Has the General got people to support him when he has O MP’s in parliament not even rented ones.Shame, let him split RB’s small and inconsequential votes

  9. Pa Zedi …kaya mwe

Village concept, Sata wants Barotseland to be a country within a country…..useless politicians

  11. This guy is a sad sweet dreamer. He is just wasting his time and fiscal resources in this campaign. Like someone has suggested, he should just join either Sata or HH otherwise he is going nowhere.

  12. De MMD and RB ar feeling de wait,de impact and de heat of Sata.de man is in all provinces now.And Thz so cod MMD ar becoming violent like in Solwezi.HH its not yo time.viva pabwato !

  13. The General was heard saying he will instill a work ethic and discipline zambians to deliver. What the Gen is not realising is this election is about issues, his manifesto.I have never heard him talk about anything to do with economy especially fiscal policies,e.i tax.Frank talk is right the man is not clear on his manifesto

  14. The General has very good Qualities of a leader. He is man of intergrity and a disciplinarian. But the problem is that he goes into hybernation and then shows up only when the elections are about to be held and lacks mobilisation skills.

My advice is start preparing now for 2011 elections and forget about winning the next week’s elections.

I don’t even know why he refused when he was invited by Levy in MDD and in the Government. I think Levy knew of his potential and wanted the General to inherit him.
General reorganise yourself and we will support you.

  15. ZAMBIANS YOU SHOULD BE THANKFUL THAT MIYANDA IS STANDING COZ HE IS INCOMPARABLE TO THESE OTHER CANDIDATES YES HE HAS BEEN QUIET BUT DOES THAT MAKE HIM A BAD LEADER? NO. WE WANT SOME1 WHO CAN DELIVER TAKE TIME TO UNDERSTAND HIS CONCEPT IF YOU ARE WISE LIKE ME YOU WILL SEE THAT IT IS A WORKABLE SOLUTION TO WEALTH DISTRIBUTION.
VIVA GENERAL MIYANDA VIVA HP ZAMBIA IS OUR HERITAGE.

  16. We need managers and people with intelligence to run the country not politicians. Have we forgoten what happened when we voted for a bus driver in the name of Chiluba? He had no management and political qualifications, we voted for him. We made the same mistake during Kaunda’s era. we had people like Grey Zulu who destroyed the country because of not having any education and managerial skills. Now we want to make the same mistake to vote for a policeman. We dont learn from the past? wake up from slumber. Dont just say “pabwato” without analysing issues and learning from the past.

  17. Mr Phiri, is ignoring the literacy gap between town and villages. How can they grow simulteneously when villages dont have the same numbers of schools and training centres.Lusaka can boast of where it is because 60% of people are educated.

Let Mr Phiri explain how he will equalize the differency in literacy levels btn villages and towns.

  18. Without balancing this equation Mr Phiri will not fully implement this village theory.

Let his solve this math equation first that when we will consider giving the Gen our Vote

  19. okay general you are not very a bad choice when compared to either HH or Rb but surely a nonentity when compared to king cobra.so general nipabwatoooooooooooooooooooooooooo chabe

In Zambia once you become president you become a doctor.
That is the mediocrity of Zambians.
    No regard for education.
How can a country led by illiterates develop?
Due to poverty even genuine Professors are reduced to senseless politicians.

  30. # 53 (Anonymous) what is the level of your education?? I doubt if you are an educated person because educated people don’t reason like you!! Go back to school iwe!!

  31. All of you chaps supporting these corrupt, sick, illerate, unprincipled fellows to be president should know that the future Zambians shall judge you.
This era is not like it were at independence where anybody so long they could speak some English could become a minister.
This is a sign that Zambia is far from reaching the millenium development goes.
Which development can a country boast about when standard sixies are becoming presidents.
It is a form of corruption to advance low or no education.

  32. NUMBER 16 YOU ARE WASTING YOU VOTE AND TIME.MIYANDA IS HOPELESS ONLY YOU AND HIS WIFE CAN SUPPORT THE UNWORKABLE THEORIES OF VILLAGE CONCEPTS

  33. Look you guys; Let us not think everything is difficulty to understand. The ‘village concept’ is a very clear and wise concept which should be very easy to understand. What general means by village concept is that most of the rsources of this country are in the rural part of our nation. He intends to strengthen agriculture so that he can create incomes for the rural community which will in turn create food security for the urban people. He will open up land and air infrastructure to the rural community so that they become attractive so that many foreign investors & people will begin to see opportunities in rural areas other than living as unemployed in towns and being liabilities.

  34. It is a reflection to the rest of the world how backward we still are.
Look at even the current crop of ministers.
    It is some mockery.
44 yrs of being independent we still have no appropriate tools of analysis.
Miyanda’s ideas are contructive except of course he has no following but that does not call for insulting him all simply throwing away even sensible and possibly the panacea to our country.
Prosterity shall judge many of you and your careless talk.
    Viva well meaning Zambians.

  35. Theres a loose nut somewhere in this mans head..He is presidential material but i dont understand some of his moves at times..Mwanawasa invited him to be his veep but he refused..what a time waster!!

  36. Mr Miyanda i think you are not fit for politics.Your friend RB sleeps at Stadiums and at Churchs but you sleep for 5 years when it is election time thats when you wake up.You better continue sleeping because this is not your race baba.

  37. General, pls we know u are a good leader but for now we need a sweeper a person who can give direction and be followed by all citizen. Not a sleeping government. General u can not make it to plot one coz of financial. Your party has no money for campaign. just work extra hard next time we vote fore you. No vote to waste. I ” vote for SATA.

  38. From the many contributions it is clear bloggers have minds set or fixed. Not willing to reason otherwise. Typical of Kaponyas.
No wonder Lusaka is celebrated by many of you as a city.
    Shame.
Building incomplete ‘Meza’ Flats as a sign of a man of action.
For your information, the man of action was KK.
    Period.

  39. General intends to make sure that each of the districts in the country will have economic activities based on the resources each of them is endowed with. He intends to encourage processed or semi-processed goods to be trnsported away from the places of natural raw materials other than the actual raw materials. This will boost economic activities in these areas.

  40. I watched his interview on Muvi Tv last night, I litterally got no sense out of this man. Claims and pretends to be too straight and talking of army this and that.

HP, just join HH as a ward councillor somewhere in Kabwe!!!

  41. Wu says dat pf is supported by kaponyas only? Am educated bt am in de boat! Its just dat us in de bwato we luv evry zambian. Wether rich or poor educated or not, coboy or not.we luv all in de mukolo!

  42. The problem is that even the General himself does not fully understand the Village concept he book lifted from Jerry Rawlings.
How can he explain it to anyone – Sad

  43. #67.FINE. I DIDNT KNOW IN ZAMBIA WE HAD SUCH GENOIUS PIPO LIKE YOU WHO CAN SEE AND UNDERSTAND WHAT OTHERS CANT. TRUTHFULLY IF WE HAD 9 PIPO LIKE U SCATERED IN 9 PROVINCES TO INFLUENCE OTHERS ZAMBIA WAS GOING TO BE LIKE LONDON OR NEW YORK IN 5 YEARS TIME. U R RIGHT THE VILLAGE CONCEPT IS GOOD AM WITH YOU MY MAN. VIVA MIYANDA MAN OF INTEGRITY

  44. Welcome Brig Gen Miyanda, I have been waiting to read from you. November 2, 2008, will teach you and Sata a good lesson you will leave to remember in your whole lives. For as me he Zambia Army Commander is on my side. The Commander will deal with all ill-motivated characters who think they can bring anarchy to Zambia.
As for my 30th October,2008 election candidate PREFERENCES,here is the list below:
1 – Best: Hakainde Hichilema (HH)
2 – Better: Brig. Gen. Godfrey Miyanda
3 – Good: Rupiah Bwezani Banda
    4 – worst : Micheal Chilufya Sata.
NOTE: Anyone of the top 3 in the list will do, however if the WORST wins it still will never hurt because Sata is a human being, Zambian for that matter

  45. FROM BEING A VICE, TO LOSE THREE TIMES. GENERAL THIS SHOWS HOW DULL YOU ARE. ANYWAY WE WONT ACCEPT TO BE RULED BY A CORPORAL, STANDARD 4

  46. Mr.intengrity played it safe for too long…..he’s a good man and would probaly make a fine leader….but he is no politician….and thats what you need to be in order to win elections…..

  47. do the pilot study of the concert with your family first and the show the results to us may we can consider voting you as the mp

  48. “When civil servants are paid well, the private sector will emulate – that’s how you run a country using brains and not your feet – when you vote for us we will bring back on your table food taken away from you,” he said.
“Let’s vote for the best president for Zambia, you cannot vote for a president because he’s ‘bashikulu’ (grandfather) because you cannot eat bashikulu; vote for one who will bring development,” he saidTelling the people that the Copperbelt had already endorsed him, he said grandparents should not be given a chance in this month’s presidential election. source: Times of Zambia

“We want to bring development to Zambezi and North-Western. We want to work like serious businessmen on the tarring of Mutanda-Chavuma Road,” Mr Hichilema said at the start of his campaign tour of the province.
He said once elected Zambia’s president, a bridge would be constructed in Zambezi to link east and west banks of Zambezi River and another at Watopa on Kabompo River to link Kabompo and Lukulu in Western Province.
And the UPND president promised to generate hydro power from Chavuma Falls to districts like Zambezi, Kabompo and Chavuma using diesel generators.
The Zambezi crowd included senior citizens like former diplomat and minister, Rodger Sakuhuka and …

  50. HH has come to stay (HH waboola ikuzyookalila, HH abela kunkalilila, HH aataha) in the Zambian Political scene.

“One Zambia, One Nation.” Let us all well meaning Zambians build this our great Nation Zambia together. There is no time to discriminate any other fellow Zambian Citizen in this economic, political, social, scientific developmental development cause.

May you all have a good day and enjoy your blogging. I will report back at my Central Command Post later in the evening. Meanwhile, lets carry on with our door-to-door and phone-to-phone winning campaign team for HH.

  51. #86, SATA is my man, thank you and lets meet on here after 30th October, 2008, if the good Lord God will still be offering both me and you life. Take care and have a lovely day. Greeting to your family members and inform them that I love them and Zambia very much.

  52. 69. Zambian,
I am shocked that watching Miyanda last night you could not see sense in what he was saying. I wonder what skill you used to prevent your brain from getting the clear sense Miyanda was saying. I myself I am not HP but I saw a lot of sense in what he said. Now I know that you must be a long standing enemy of logic because that is what he utilised. You must be very good at getting sense from people who simply come you and say, “free education, low tax, free medicals, more money in your pocket, more employement, no chinese, etc” without telling you how. You are used to this type of sense, I can see!

There will be no polls in 2011 – Sata
PATRIOTIC Front (PF) leader, Michael Sata, has said there will be no presidential elections in 2011 because whoever will be elected president in this month-end’s election is supposed to rule for five years.

And Mr Sata has pledged to restore dignity to Kabwe town by reviving all closed and ailing industries in the once mining district, if elected president.

Speaking at a public rally in Kabwe at the weekend, Mr Sata said that whoever would emerge winner in the October 30 election was expected to reign for five years and therefore there would only be parliamentary and local government elections in 2011.

    Mr Sata s

  54. Look in the eyes of ba Bri General, he’s lonely man.He should have spent the money he used during the filing of presido papers to his family.

    Loner Loner Loner

Voet for H H he does not encourage people to be loners.

  55. Mr Sata said that apart from in the case of death and incapacitation, anyone elected President of Zambia was supposed to rule for five years and therefore the next elections would be in 2013, five years from now.

During the same rally the PF presidential candidate alleged that service chiefs in Zambia had started transferring officers to disenfranchise them and ensure that they did not vote for him.

Mr Sata said it was bad for the commanders to do that and called for the postponement of the transfers and sending officers for refresher courses just to make sure they did not vote.

  56. maestro hehehehehe you r a joke….just like arrogant HH and sleepy RB……HIS EXCELLENCY MICHAEL CHILUFYA SATA PRESIDENT OF ZAMBIA 09-11……reelected 11-16….maybe HH or CHIRWA 16-20….

  59. IT PAINS ME TO SEE PIPO SURPORTING SATA BUT I KNOW ITS JUST THE JOKES THEY FOLLOW COME 30TH ALL WISE AND EDUCATED PIPO WILL VOTE FOR HP MIYANDA OR HH BETER THAN LOSING OUR COUNTRY TO SATA AND HIS COBRA SPIRIT. POOR FOLLS(PF)

  60. Miyanda joimed Politics as a last resort. He is a man who knows nothing better. As Zedians the sooner we learn, that we can influence our country from different spheres the better our country will become. Politicians must not be allowed to turn all of us into social commentators to the extent that we forget to do what we have trained so long for and invested so much in! Zedians don’t be tempted by the allure of Political power and Public resources or you will be like Miyanda, a man who buries his head in the sand when the obvious happens to him. Electrol Defeat is certain for Miyanda and HP. The village concept is outdated because the rural urban drift has not been arrested.

  61. PABWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO>>>>>>>

    MWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMUKOLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO>>>>>

    VOTE FOR SATA! VOTE PABWAAAAATOOOOO!!!
    VOTE FOR MAN OF ACTION!!

VIVA CHANGE, Village Concept here we come, i have failed to understand this all concept I think I need to be educated on what it all about….

  62. The first president was DAVID Kaunda

The second president was JACOB Titus Chiluba

    The third was LEVY Mwanawasa

There is some thing similar in their names i.e. their names are found in the Bible.

Therefore among the four aspiring candidates the man who has a name that is found in the bible might be the next president.

If anyone out there can give the bible verse where the following names are found then by all means, vote for them:

    Rupiah Banda (Laugh out loud!)

    Hakainde Hichilema (maybe the Q’uran)

    Godfrey Miyanda (no comment!)

In conclusion, vote MICHEAL (the arch-angel) Chilufya Sata…….and Zambia shall be saved!

  63. Fellow country men and women, Zambia is pressed between a wall and a hard rock. These elections are like chosing to die from a gun or a machette. Sata, HH, Miyanda are all one man show. They all look good to see, but that’s where all goodness end. They don’t have credible people around them. Meanwhile Banda has too many Vultures around him waiting in patience. Even KK has realized there’s a back door through which UNIP can silently sneak in with Tilyengi. Even Cimbwi Nevers has smelt blood. Too many Vipers are arising to take a bite through Banda. I wonder if he ‘d control them. He had trouble with High peaks just recently. Please vote wisely. “vote for me if in doubt”.

  64. Refer to # 3, Village is a brilliiant Idea but it only require a very strong and sound mind that is flexible adrift with dynamics of the ever changing golbal economics. Therefore, if the General cud join HH, they will make a very solid and good team upto 2016 for General to take over the reign of this great nation. Dont hand it to the failed and tired and recycled politicians like RB,VJ,MIKE,Sata to ruin it.
    VIVA HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

  65. ## 11 dont worry whats on the ground is that the BOAT IS ALMOST SAILING THRU COME 30 IT WILL REACH THE SHORE SO JUMP INTO THE BOAT DONT BE CAUGHT NAPPING LIKE THEIR CANDITATE RUPIAH DONT HAVE BLIND LOYALTY COZ EVERYBODY IS SHOUTING MMD ITS DEAD AND BURIED

  66. The idea of village concept is not a very briliant idea. it is a population destribution solution… i dont think thats what the country needs. when villagers go to the towns then they provide labour for local industries… they even increase the market size… point is it should never be forced… simply grow industries and people we’ll go there…

Lastly, the general is a loner… he couldnt even organise 60 supporters in 2hrs plus. A leader must pull people… and he doesnt

  67. AH #106
U are lost …. dont misuse religion and stop misleading pipo… we want you in our youth commitee in kitwe for HH

  68. #30 Dr. Bill please stop dreaming like the General. We do not want people that stay in hiding and only show up when it’s election time. General Miyanda is not a leader that can solve Zambias problems, when things get hard in state house he may go in hiding again. Only RB, MS OR HH WILL BE THE NEXT PRESIDENT.

  69. #110. Change u can believe,
I wonder what your thought implies; I am sure you do not understand the ‘village concept’. Otherwise you contribution was not going to be as it is.
Village concept deals with spreading economic activity to all parts of the country. It implies other than localising development in one place let it be spread to all parts of the country. Having economic activity in one place of the country cause many challenges, I hope you know. When a town is congested, you have the problem of squarting, unplanned settlements, insufficient services by local authorities, insufficient land etc. Village concept speaks of growing rural centres into towns that will attract business.

  70. Iwe KC (No. 20) how can you compare Miyanda with me? What is this nonsense about “Village Concept”? What is it?

During my time we had the clearly defined Philosophy of Humanism, now what is this concept? Eeeh, mune, how do you implement a concept like this?

Can someone pulizi post a description of this funny sounding Miyanda concept?

  71. # Whoever you are #66 is that not the reason you defected to south africa coz the long wait for your promised egg per day was just a dream which man of action finshi bashi panji bamichitile apart from sending his dull children to famous schools and came back as dull as they went try and think during his reign which civil servant owned a house apart from renting from LUSAKA CITY COUNCILand if you built a modern housethey start investigating you with the SHUSHUSHU those mezaf flat have been beneficial to alot of ppl in lusaka kapena wenzi kunkala kwa mulenga ku kitwe you never appreciated lusaka SATA can do wonders thats why kaunda ddnt like him he even punished his father think man
