The Tonga Traditional Association (TTA) has endorsed the candidature of United Party for National Development (UPND)’s Hakainde Hichilema in the next week’s Presidential elections scheduled for October 30.
Speaking in a special programme on Musi-oa-tunya community radio station in Livingstone last night, President of the TTA Dickson Namanza disclosed that his association which comprised of 3.5 million people across the nation has decided to endorse Hichilema’s candidature because he is the only Presidential candidate who has so far promised good policies for the economic development of the country.
Mr. Namanza who is also Chairman of Lwiindi Traditional Ceremony said there is no doubt that Hichilema will transform the country’s social and economic problems should he be voted into power next week.
He said Mr. Hichilema is the only one who has come up with sound policies that includes free education up to university level, improvement of civil servants’ salaries the lowest paid not getting less than 3.5million per month among other pertinent issues.
ATT Chairman charged that education, health and agriculture sectors of the economy are among the key factors that Hichilema has pledged to improve on when he becomes President.
Mr. Namanza appealed to the electorates in the country to vote on merit in next week’s Presidential polls.
Meanwhile, UPND President Hakainde Hichilema is tomorrow expected to hold his campaign rally ahead of next week’s Presidential elections in Mambova, Kazungula district .
He is also expected to hold another rally in Livingstone .

It is only true that he is the candidate that has promised free fertilisers and education from grade 1 up to university. He is the only candidate that says he will not draw a salary but donate it to the youth and the women. Someone unrealistically asks where HH will find the money to give the civil servants a minimum of K3.5M when they know that a large cabinet with their deputies and MP had given themselves hefty salaries which HH has said he will not approve. Is not sensible then to say that there is money around which can given to civil servants? As at now HH is the only credible candidate and has support from most of the Zambian voters that is why he (HH) is saying that RB can only win thru rigging which most Zambians agree with. Tongas cannot rule Zambia but can definitely rule the Cows all over the Southern province. I am not Tonga and I find nothing wrong with the TTA endorsing HH because of his good qualities. The people of Eastern province including their paramount chief have endorsed RB. Based on what? Tribalism. Sata is supported by mostly Bemba-speaking people. Based on what? Tribalism. If others are doing it, why should the Tongas abandon their own? HH is the best candidate. Unfortunately Zambian voters are not objective. Instead they have exchanged their senses with brown envelopes, chibuku, chitenje material, and sugar. What a shame.

KK advised the nation who would make a good leader for the nation. People mistake a hard worker and a leader, some cannot be both. As much I appreciate Sata’s work ethic, when you are presido, you do not need to go about all clinics checking who is working, simple you will not have the time.Put in place policies and framework and then implement them, with right resources good results should start showing.Secondly, zambia is in need of a farmer biased president at the moment, reason, diversifying the economy needs a person with good understanding of the agric sector.Not increase “tontembas” all over Lusaka and say the economy is doing well.Zambia deserves better.

We in Zambia know the fact that most of the support Sata have is from the informal sector as he is appealing to those that are not literate. He talks what they want to hear. He says he will give them free Fertiliser. HH says he needs NCZ revived using the same 50% of subsidies. During the POresidential interviews, only HH articulated the how he is going to do what he is promising. Sata knows what to tel pipo and have no commitment.
