Share

Patrick Phiri’s reign as Simba SC coach began on good note on Sunday after his Tanzanian side beat Polisi Morogoro 3-2 at home.

According Tanzania newspaper This Day, Simba were made to fight hard for their first league win in three games-after 2 defeats and a draw inbetween- against Morogoro before snatching a late winner to hand Phiri his opening league win in charge since his appointment 2 weeks ago.

After a scoreless first half, Simba went ahead in the 49th minute through their Nigerian striker Orji Obinna before Nicholas Kabipe equalized in the 56th minute.

Simba were back on top 2 minutes after the hour mark through Obinna who completed his brace for the day.

Morogoro equalized again in the 81st minute before Musa Hassan sneaked in the winner 3 minutes later.

Simba are now 5th from 8th on 17 points after 12 matches played with a game in hand following their 5th league win of the season after 2 draws and 5 defeats.

  2. zambian-american. Like him or not.patrick phiri is leading a very confortable life than you.so you take pride in being negative at anything.how silly.

  3. Patrick has usually excelled as a coach. Remember how he performed as under 20 national team coach? Even as coach for the senior chipololo, Patrick acquitted himself well. I can only wish well. We used to pay him peanuts. At one time he was even evicted from the house he was renting for non payments of rentals because FAZ had not paid him his salaries for months!

  4. Job well done MR Phiri,i know you might have done even better with what we have @ the our national team @ this very moment. You can do so just go for it out there.

  5. Aiasha, kwamba mudala.na ulikabotu twalumba nchobene. In the first game at national stadium zesco drew against simba sports club 1-1.zesco drew first blood before simba equalized towards the end.in the second game they played dar young africans and drew 0-0 in what was believed to be an uninspiring match.
Mind you aisha all these games were drawing not less 20000 spectators.something that can not happen kumwesu

  6. You guys likw Jomaco, Zambian American, you shouldn’t participate on this blog i dont know why you are so negative about everything, you lack identity, find something better to do we are tired of your comments which do not make any sence!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  7. Good job Phiri. Show Kalu and Munaile team that, what zambia lacks are stars and plyers to take us forward. Kalu is busy parading himself before stars of other countries, like he did with Ronaldo, when he can make stars at home and parade them proudly before the world. The guy Kalu is also just too jelousy that he has made it a deliberate ploy not to help budding younsters to make it to FA that are formidable much as he has connections. What a shame.

  8. Though we have given him a raw deal most times, this coach is very good and often has positive impact on our players. Just look at his achievements and compare them with the “shorted” fella now in charge. If Egypt and at one time Nigeria could make it with local coaches why can’t we? [-(

  10. KCM 21 you have hit nail on head. Truth must be told especially in football! Did they ever pay him? Last I heard they were sleeping outside, locked out by landlord until neighbors came to their help, after days in cold. Pa Zed sure! :((

  11. Patrick Phiri has been a good coach ever since. Due to jealousness of these chaps called Kalusha and an incompetent MP Munaile dropped him from the squad.
