Kitwe District Commissioner McDonald Mtine says sports is of the best tools for empowering pupils.
Mr Mtine said sports enables youths and atheletes in general to fully tap their
talents in creating lifeskills for their better future.
Speaking at an inter-school sports at Mpelembe Secondary
School ,the District Commissioner said sports creates opportunities for pupils to
become international and national icons.
He encouraged the pupils to emulate renowned athletes who making
making a living out of sports.
Mr Mtine urged the body of dignatories and sports teams that attended the event to
exhibit a great sense of seriousness and fair play.
He said the interschools games were in unison to President Mwanawasa’s recent decree
of making physical education mandatory in all schools in the country.
Sports is key to the well being of young ones.Do not ignore the youths.Ministries of ecucation and the local govt should partner to create more play grounds as well as sports facilities so that talent can continue to be developed.
