LWSC to demolish structures on sewer pipes

The Lusaka Water and Sewerage Company (LWSC) will soon swing into action to demolish structures built on water and sewerage pipes.

LWSC Public Relations Manager Simon Mwale told ZANIS in an interview that it was an offence to build structures on water and sewerage pipes under the National Water Supply and Sanitation Council Act of 1997.

Mr Mwale said the company would not accommodate negotiations as they start demolishing the structures.

He further warned members of the public to desist from tampering with LWSC pipes.

Meanwhile, Mr Mwale has disclosed that rehabilitation works on the treatment and storage facilities in Chongwe and Kafue were progressing.

He said studies on the project had been conducted in both centres and a report sent to the Ministry of Local Government and Housing to that effect.

  1. doesnt the whole lot of the Govt have better things to do than demolishing structures they shamelessly benefited from through illegal allocation of land. Instead of focusing on job creation, they are busy destroying poor people’s little businesses and houses. This is very inhuman, the poor folks at city centre will no longer provide for their families tomorow because some selfish political motives. shame on all those involved !

  2. Well let them demolish the structures bu they should not leave the Government buidling in Kamwala, the former UNIP HQ. Yes that building, it was built on top of water and sewerage lines. That is why the whole of Kamwala, Madras and Kabwata areas suffered from serious water problems for a long time. So if they have to do it let them start with that buliding. I agree where were the authorities when people were building for them to comenow and take action. I strongly beleive that a court action can certainly settle this circus.

  3. Hi, i think that i saw you on my website thus i came to return the favor.Im attempting to find things to improve my web site!I suppose its ok to use some of your ideas!!
