ZAMBIA U23 ALL AFRICA GAMES UPDATE

Zambia Under 23 are set to join hosts Algeria and Egypt in Group B at the All Africa Games Football tournament in Algiers this July after group draws were announced by Caf today.

Peter Kaumba’s side are favored to reach the tournament thanks to a 4-0 lead they enjoy over Mozambique from their 2nd round, 1st leg qualifier played on April 1in Maputo.

Algeria automatically qualify as host while Egypt beat Ethiopia 4-2 on aggregate after losing 2-0 away in the 1st leg before overturning the result with a 4-0 home win in the final return leg.

The two Group B nations from north Africa will also be joined by winner of the Senegal-Guinea final round tie with that match level at 1-1 from the 1st leg played in Conakry on April 1.

Group A meanwhile will comprise of Ghana and Tunisia plus winners of the South Africa-Botswana (SA lead 2-0, st leg), Gabon-Cameroon (Gabon lead 2-0, 1st leg).

Meanwhile, Zambia under 23 goalkeeper Kalililo Kakonje has arrived in the country ahead of this Saturdays final leg decider to be played in Lusaka.

The squad is camped in Kitwe until Thursday.
