WEDNESDAY LEAGUE WRAP-UP

Share

ZANACO DRAWS A BLANK CHEQUE AT BUFFALOES.

Zanaco’s erratic league form continues and today they finished scoreless away at Independence stadium in their derby match against Green Buffaloes.

The result means the defending league champions slip from 2nd to 3rd on the Faz Premier League log on 20 points; three behind team of the moment Zesco United who crushed 2004 league champions Red Arrows 2-0 yesterday in Ndola.

Lusaka Dynamos are 2nd after winning their 4th successive league game with a 1-0 away win at struggling National Assembly FC on May Day played at Edwin Emboela stadium thanks to a 90th minute goal from Nasha Kaya.

Leaders Zesco meanwhile secured their Labor Day win via goals from midfielder Rainford Kalaba and Nicholas Zulu.

Zesco’s victory ensured they stayed unbeaten at home for a sixth successive top-flight match and have not also lost in their last seven league outings.

  1. Lusaka Times thanks for letting us know how our Zambian clubs are doing, good job. Now what is FAZ doing about the Under 20, 23 and the senior national teams in terms of preparations? We will be play very critical matches next month and yet FAZ hasn’t done a thing just having meetings on hiring a foreign coach in their fancy offices while expecting the the national teams perform a miracle. Do these guys really know the next month matches are so critical? I don’t think so. This is so insane honestly, what are they still doing about taking the teams in camping? By now they senior national team should have played 2 or 3 friendlies. Is the current FAZ executive really doing what they been paid for? Zambians its high time we did something about this nonsense. They think they are smart but the all Teddy Mulonga team sucks. All they want is to blame it on the current coaches of the 3 national teams if they don’t well. CAMP ALL THE 3 NATIONAL TEAMS I BEG YOU!

  2. It pains me having grown up in the cooper belt the time ZCCM was around for all the sports activities and the well being of the people. What I’m trying say is soccer loving Zambians how do you all feel for Football Association of Zambia and the Government of Zambia Officials not attending the 13th anniversary of the Gabon air disaster? It really pains me a lot ‘bane injaji ila putuka’ don’t think these leadership jobs you have you will keep forever. Everyone of the players, coaching staff and the air crew were on national duty when they died its for that reason why we should all respect them and the their families. Besides its been 13 years now and we still don’t know what really happened, why the secrecy? Is it political?

  3. This what I’m saying…I totally agree with Chitalu and Bwendo. The current FAZ executive should resign and pave way to people with ideas to the run football in Zambia not these three time losers ati ba Teddy Mulonga..sakala nyongo iwe chachine injaji ila putuka. Bayini, how can you not camp the national team while you have 2 critical games lined up in difference of 14 days. Twalishiba ati mwalituminwa nolupiya and you don’t worry if Zambia wins or lose but you must realize that its not your personal club its nation you are dealing with. The Gabon air disaster should make you resign because you have failed the people of Zambia as president.

  4. Like I always say, the under-performance of FAZ is indicative of the general leadership problems in Zambia.

We need a national revolution to usher in a group of caring and hard working Zambians. Other wise every chimbwi can be in leadership as long as he is close to the national president

  5. There is just too much talk and no action in FAZ.
Its time they got theselves moving and learn to plan well in advance.
Why cant they plan friendlies well in advance and have them on FIFA approved dates like everyone does so that we can even get our proffessionals to play without having trouble of seeking their release from ther clubs.
    Commons sense guy.
In the meantime, the current FAz exec should go.

  6. I think Soccer in Zambia is being frustrated by imcompetent administrators. If I can recall well, it was the same corrupt Mulonga executive, that the corrupt regime of Chiluba removed from the office because he could not account for the 1 billion that was given to FAZ.
This is a trying test for FAZ, it can not camp the under 20, under 23 and the senior team, the song we always hear is “the FAZ is broke”. My hear bleeds when I remember the late Micheal Mwape, who was on the verge of changing the face of the Zambian soccer. We are supposed to be the best in the region if not Africa, yet even Angola and Sudan are surpassing us now.Do not even talk of south Africa. The FAZ has failed to attract and win the support of the private sector who are pouring in a lot of cash into the Angolan and Sudanese football. Zambia is blessed with a lot of rare talent year in year out which at the end of the day goes to waste. Hope this will not happen with Clifford,Fwayo, rainford, sebstian and others.

  7. Its true Zambia has a lot of talent and most of which ends up in the streets because the leadership is not there. The current under 17, 20 and 23 national teams are the future for the senior nation team but what has FAZ done to keep these youngstars busy? NOTHING…Chamusebanya! They talk about World Cup 2010 but they are neglecting the potential workforce. In my opinion if FAZ kept the under 17, 20 and 23 national teams busy by playing together at least once every month we can have a team to recon with at the 2010 World cup. The under 20 performance in Congo Brazzaville is proof enough to show the world that Zambia still has talented players who can play any given team but its a pity that it will take a miracle for these talented kids to play well at the youth world cup in Canada because they are been taken for a ride by these greedy administrators. Surely how can Sudan a war torn country be doing very well then Zambia a country blessed with peace and good climate. Ubulanda!

  8. While I hear what a lot of you have to say on the subject there are some truths we need to be aware of.

The only time we are ever going to get quality administration in FAZ is if we develop quality adminstrators at club level. The few clubs that are probably doing well are those that have companies sponsering them and there is some sort of control but I can tell you there is a lot of abuse rampant and we on the outside do not see it.

A lot has been said about ZCCM but look what happened when ZCCM was no more.

Lets sort out the rot at club level and we will have devloped leadership for tomorrow.

  9. Buchi Boy its embarrassing to call pro’s like Chaswe Nsofwa, Chris Katongo and others to help the Zambia national team beat Angola in a COSAFA cup. During those ZCCM days you mentioned Zambia would line up the under 20 for the teams like Angola, Malawi, Botswana and so many other countries in the Southern Africa region. But now its a different ball game because we don’t have capable administrators to run the FAZ hence the neglect talented player when have minor differences e.g. Emmanuel Zulu, Moses Sinkala, Andrew Tembo, Harry Milanzi, Davis Phiri and so many others.., a very good example is last time Zambia played Cameroon at the Independence stadium, did you see Mboma, Etoo, Song or any of their high profile players? I strongly believe at club level most clubs are not doing well because of financial issues and that its due to FAZ and GRZ who haven’t tighten the laws of investment in Zambia. So many countries from RSA that sponsor soccer in RSA are not doing so in Zambia, why?

  10. Thanks guys for the contributions. I want to continue to prod on our leadership’s lack of vision and poor administration, a cancer that has stoked us since time immemorial. The ever learning but never learning administration both in football circles and government is to say the least irritating. Hardly two and half years remaining from South Africa’s hosting of the world cup and not even one of the three promised stadia is anywhere to be seen! A lot of talk from top to bottom about how Zambia will benefit from that event but like fools we watch as time passes and draws near. South Africa, meanwhile, is doing something about it and we are waiting thinking we shall build three stadia with artificial tuff (if they never lied to us), in one year before the event. South Africa is pushing to have some teams to be accommodated in neighbouring countries but I am not sure if we have considered even to build new hotels, good road networks to the Victoria Falls (like dual carriageways) to promote Zambia. The deception of building a complex hotel by Sun Hotels only to see a group of huts replace a bigger hotel in Livingstone is disappointing (and one which needed to call for “impeachment” of the company). Although we hate to see Zimbabwe doing badly, Zambia cannot even take advantage by building infrastructure as Zimbabwe has at Victoria Falls town and woo tourists. Good stadia will contribute to psychologically elevate our sense of being (in both players and fans) which I am sure our politicians cannot see. Useless, empty promises, and usual poor planning.
