MMD in Luangeni disassociates itself from altimatun given to Cifire

Share

The ruling MMD in Eastern Province has disassociated itself from the recent one month altimatum issued to Laungeni Member of Parliament Angela Cifire.

Eastern Province Information and Publicity Secretary, Phillimon Mwale, said the people who issued the One-month altimatum to Ms. Cifire, during which to visit her constituency, were not party members.

Mr. Mwale said party officials from Luangeni confirmed that the people, who were
contemplating to pass a vote of no confidence in Ms.Cifire’s leadership were not MMD
members.

Mr. Mwale said Ms. Cifire, who is former Health Minister, was still enjoying support
from the party in her constituency.

He said former Chikando ward councilor in Luangeni, Richard Soko and a Mr. George
Sambo, an alleged Patriotic Front cadre, were trying to put the party in an awkward
position.

Mr. Mwale warned that party members, who would be found associating with the group,
would be punished severely.

He appealed to President Levy Mwanawasa to sympathise with Ms. Cifire and give her
another chance to serve as a Cabinet minister.

“As a province, we had two cabinet ministers and when one is removed, you can not be
happy,” Mr. Mwale said.

An alleged MMD group last week stormed the Post Newspaper offices in Chipata and
alleged that Ms. Cifire was dropped from cabinet because she did not visit her constituency.

said it would stop defending Ms. Cifire when electorate asked why she was not
visiting her constituency.

  1. Too bad for Cifire. You served for a short time, why? We haven’t been told yet the reasons behind your dismissal. Maybe, nowonder people are thinking in those lines. Am also very sure you promised the Luangeni people to be paying them visits and briefing them about the development. I don’t want to know how many times you have so far visited them. I know you would give all sorts of reasons for not visiting your people. Many Easterners had great confidence in you. What has gone wrong with you? Deliver what you promise. Remember that you will need those people soon. I also urge all Eastern Province MPs to deliver their promises. We need to see change in the province. Hon. Vincent Mwale Chipangali MP, you are among the youngest MPs. Make a difference. I still have confidence in you. Regards. Easterners, lets also work hard for the development of our province. Burry those useless political differences.

  2. Cifire thought running a Ministry is like reading press statement for that corrupt ZESCO institute. Good ridance. Zambia deserves better. Sorry for you easterners who still think where you come from entitles you to be appointed.

  3. Of course there may be other reasons for being let go in Zambian politics, but I think ‘not visiting a constituency’ for me is inexcusable… I suggest that we change the current system to allow only the residents of the constituencies to stand for elections as MPs (But then I am also of the feeling that the whole system is too expensive for Zambia, so ABASH!). Then on another note, I think we should look beyond regional politics, especially the type that divide us based on province of origin. As a patriotic Zambian, I feel strongly that transcending such trivialities will make us go far…Just in case you are wondering, I am in fact from the Eastern Province, but do NOT have any particular affinity to our “Mpumalanga”

  4. Cifire, too bad for your premature dismisal. Am sure there is alot of bad activies under the carpent you need to tell the nation which you were involved in (Corruption). My friend are corrupt or not. I feel you are not clean, Come out in open and apologise to the Zambian people like Chiluba the thief.

  5. People in Luangeni should know what the letters MP stand for and accept the disappearance of Cifire. MP stand for Missing Persons. They only re-appear when campaigning again. Its the order of the day

  6. What criteria was used by LPM to appoint Angela in such a sensitive Ministry? It is the same question I have for Lupiah Banda.

  7. cifire, people seemed not to like your appointment from the start. but LPM gave you a change. You blew it madam. you were very incompetent!!!!

  8. Cifire is just an all round failure. Is she married by the way?Carpet machinations at Zesco failed to work at the Ministry. She was as dull as a donkey she could not present herself in parliament during the question and answer session ,the SPeaker kept reminding her of the questions.Ba Kabamba its not easy to handle a sensititive Ministry like Health, you need hard men like King Cobra who are capable of giving incentives to Doctors when the Treasury is busy lying that there is no money for increments.Let Cifire settle down, reflect and find something useful.Politics is not for her.

  9. kuku….i donot see the connection between Cifire’s performance and her personality? Marriage has nothing to do with performance, and it is her personal life.
Is Oprah Winfrey or Condoleeza Rice married?
Try to separate the two my friend ?

  10. kuku, i agree with u when you say that politics is not for Cifire. But if we are to even be more analytical, does one surely need to be a politician for him or her to run a ministry well? i do not think so.

Cifire is just a cadre who did not know what she was doing. I hope she was not waken up from sleep and slapped with a ministerial appointment by LPM!!!

  11. Kabamba,I agree with you.LPM is one disgruntled leader I have ever seen. Some of the appointments Maureen has an input. That is why KK was a great man.None amongst his followers predicted what was to come next each time he announced a press conference.Kayata, I was just trying to find out whether the husband contributed to her under performance, family issues come first otherwise you are right.By the way Kayata what happened to her offer of Deputy Minister LPM tabled?
Gentlemen I missed FTJ’s press conference, any idea of the contents?

  12. kuku, the man still says that he is innocent. He says though sata has turned against him, they are still friends.

  13. Since the Cifire Deputy Minister offer was exposed to the press, i think LPM backed out, or is it chickened out. By the way can someone tell me where the young man chulumanda is?

  14. Claims innocence: Zambia’s ex-president Frederick Chiluba has lashed out at a London High Court judge who found him guilty of stealing $46-million in state funds, calling him a “racist”. Photo: AFP

    Zambia’s Chiluba rubbishes court ruling

    May 10 2007 at 02:50PM

Lusaka – Former Zambian president Frederick Chiluba said on Thursday that a British judge’s order that he personally return $41-million (about R280-million) alleged to have been stolen while he was in office “bordered on racism”.

Chiluba told a news conference he did not steal any of the total $46-million that the judge, Peter Smith, determined had been stolen from the National Treasury by him and his associates during his decade-long rule in Zambia.

“I am told I am liable to pay a total sum of $41-million because of my (statutory) duty. This is legally untenable… and Justice Peter Smith’s judgement borders on racism,” Chiba said.

Referring to his successor Levy Mwanawasa, he said: “This judgement was engineered by the Mwanawasa government and consented to by the British government. It was predetermined by Tony Blair’s government in collusion with the Zambian government in order to crucify me (and) it’s all trash.”

‘This judgment was engineered by the Mwanawasa government’
The former president, who says he is the victim of a witch hunt by Mwanawasa, said part of the money he was accused of stealing was given to him in the form of “gifts and donations” by friends.

Smith ruled in a case Zambia brought in a British court, a move Zambian officials said was aimed at potentially recovering properties Chiluba and his associates purchased using stolen public funds in Britain, Belgium and other European nations.

    Chiluba denies this.

The ruling backed charges by Mwanawasa’s government that Chiluba and his associates stole the money during his years in power.

Chiluba said part of the money was used on security operations by Zambian intelligence.

“I can’t go into detail on security operations which were carried out by the Zambian Intelligence (and) Judge Smith can’t determine for Zambia our security matters,” he said.

Political analysts called Smith’s a milestone in Africa’s efforts to get back money lost to official corruption, seen as a major drag on the continent’s development. But it was unclear how much, if any, money Zambia stood to recover.

Zambia, in a separate local trial, has hit Chiluba with criminal charges of stealing $488 000 while in office.

That trial stalled in May 2006 due to Chiluba’s ill health. Chiluba said he looked forward to explaining more in once that case resumes.

  15. The people in eastern province are not wise and they dont learn, that is why underdevelopment will always be with us. You thought by voting mwanawasa you will have a chance?

  16. Chulumanda is the Zambian diplomat in Mozambique……l guess that is why we have unexplanable behaviour of diplomats in China who think that they are there to make themselves rich and act like monitors in a small class room in a primary school in small village.Zambians living in China are living like they do not have an embassy. Why is it so difficult to have professionals manning these so precious offices.Zambian Diplomats in China think Zambians are a disturbance and do not even want to talk to them. Can you imagine someone applying for a passport extension and it takes about a year to have it extended.May the president pliz look at these people. They think that they are in China only to serve themselves and the chinese. How can the embassy be run like a chicken run.Pliz LPM ACT.

  17. Mwanza, comment 16, can you please explain how dull the easterners are. Which part of the province are you from? I believe you are wrong by saying that the eatserners are not wise. Of course, they thought Mwanawasa would bring changes. I dont support that as well. Are you presently living in Eastern Province or you migrated? Have you seen how Chipata for example is being enlarged? Of course except for the roads. Consult those living there before you utter such a comment again. You are one of those polluting the young ones’ minds with such words. encouge the people.

  18. Comment 17 is valid, even here in the US, you apply for the passport and you dont get any response. My niece lost a passport and it is now 2 years and 6 months since we applied for replacement and nothing as come up. When you call the embassy, they tell you stories and stories. And when they read the names of passport for collections they are all Patels and i wonder how. They don’t know that they are out in these countries to serve the nations and Zambians living abroad. I even don’t know what will happen when this change of passports that is coming in September will be handled.

  19. Gentlemen until the family tree starts to wilt these embassies will never change.what do you expect from a security guard appointed Ambassador? Its total chaos

  20. Angela Cifire is now the new deputy sports minister. People of Luangeni can you please get rid of this unprincipled woman.

  21. I know of a case which is progress in China where a Zambian delivered a baby in corridors of hospital and the student is now not allowed to return to her school because she has a baby.Secondly this girl will leave for Zambia this Saturday straight from the hospital to the airport with 3 weeks old baby. Now the Chinese may have their own laws and way doing things, but what about our embassy what have they done to protect Zambians living in China. Can someone come to their senses and start doing their work.
Why is it so difficult for the embassy officials to assist Zambians living outside?
How can the embassy be only for visa issuance and paying allowances only. Can someone pliz save the Zambians in China…….PLIZ!!!!

  22. K95 who is your ambassador? Put this problem to BBC they surely expose the weakness of that stupid ambassordor you.Its everywhere K95 something must be done.Look at britain the way it looks after its citizens, a person loses a child because of their stingyness the govt send police to go and help? Why cant Zambia learn from these issues?

  23. #21,Cifire is such a dundahead, she has no clue of her destiny, she is already behaving like a desperate house wife. How do you accept relegation and more so sports ministry?Sports Ministry is for gangsters like Chulumanda not some one with a rich cv.Shame on you Cifire.Luangeni people is this kind of leadership you want to have?Silvester can you finish off these easterners who have of late become brainless
