The Zambia national football team will face Tanzania in an international friendly this Saturday.
Coach Patrick Phiri will have available for the Tanzania fixture most of the squad that beat Congo-Brazzaville 3-0 in a 2008 Africa Cup Group 11 qualifier at Konkola stadium in Chililabombwe on Saturday.
Striker Christopher Katongo not available due to club commitments back in Denmark at Brondby while defender Elijah Tana of UAE club Al Jezeera has been ruled out due to injury.
Back in the team for the Tanzania match is Zesco United striker Enoch Sakala who was dropped from the final 17-man squad that faced Congo-Brazzaville on Saturday after scoring a brace on his debut a fortnight ago in a 2-0 win away to Namibia.
Also recalled is Green Buffaloes midfielder Noel Mwandila who was also left out of squad for the Congo-Brazzaville game.
Meanwhile, the Zambia Under 23 top the standings in their 2008 Olympic Games football tournament Group B qualifiers after the Senegal and Mali’s tie in Dakar finished 0-0 on Saturday.
Zambia Under 23’s 3-0 win over Cote d’Ivoire on Sunday at Nchanga stadium in Chingola means they top Group B on 3 points while their opponents are bottom with 0 points after both sides pool openers with Senegal and Mali each on 1 point.
That’s a way to go coach Patrick Phiri but if only you can lighten up the midfield by assessing Joseph Musonda, Issac Chansa and Ian Bakala and now that Chris Katongo will not be there next Saturday please try using Chaswe Nsofwa in the attacking force as he can do wonders in this Tanzania outing. We will need to score a lot goals when we meet Chad because South Africa don’t seem to be slowing down.
FAZ please job well done for keeping Phiri than to bring mwisa.Ba minister of sports mwisa will not help the nation in football. To win a game as coach you need
good players and this players have to come from club’s.
Mwisa you what to bring can not go to Mansa, Kasama,Solwezi,Chipata,Mungu,if asked to do so,but i know Phiri can go,even sleep under the tree.Take it from no one can come and help you to develop the sport asha ichalochakwe.Bufi ni ba spy ba ball.
I can conquer with my Kok#2, that we do not a foreign coach as he will just come and create confusion in the team. What I mean is that he will come his style of player and that will disturb the existing rythm of play currently in the team. Why spend more money on a foreign coach when you can give Phiri a decent package. Phiri knows the players for he is been with them for quite sometime. Now is Katongo coming back for the Chad game. We need the whole squad. We should not leave any stone unturned, Chad should be massacred, say 5-0 or 6-0, it is possible. We never know at the last minute we may find ourselves having the same points with Bafana Bafana and goal difference may count. Lets learn from history. The mood here in SA is that Bafana has already booked a ticket to Ghana. Lets (Zambia) surprise them. All they are saying is that Parreira knows as if he is a god. All the best Zambia and lets prepare well for the Bafana game in September.
Please FAZ make Chipolopolo reciprica shirts affordable to the soccer fans. We appreciate efforts by the Team Manager Solly Pandor at his Cairo Rd shop except the price is out of reach of an ordinary Chipolopolo fan. It is good to see Songwe Chalwe back to national duty. He is a natural striker who will add value to the striking force.
It is good to know that we are leading the table. Let us make sure that the lead is maintained.
I think Patrick Phiri should be kept as coach, however FAZ should be seriuosly consider sending him for courses abroad, cause that is the main problem. No one bothers to have our coaches trained. Lastly pay the man a decent salary, some people were paid so much, but brought confusion
Yeah, Patrick should be kept as coach and just be helped in getting more training. Hes got the experiebce and understanding of the local game so just a bit more exposure for him ll benefit our soccer immensley as opposed to doreigners who come with the primary aim of making money!
I believe after SA game Phiri will come here and do some refresh courses. I have always said he is the right man for the job. Please dont change mind give him the chance I dream that he is the first Zambian coach to win the Africa cup. After Zambia has an advantage over SA and Congo. We have to just be SA but we should not forget Congo because they also have chance to be SA. Then all three teams will have 11 points each that means go agragate is might decide. Strategy and tactis should be the theme of the game

FAZ,make arrangements for Patrick and Fighton and possibly a few others to go on more advanced coaching courses. In fact, to improve the standard of football there needs to be a blueprint for the continous training of club level coaches.Choose the courses carefully so that they suit our brand of football.FAZ should also arrange for attachments for the coaches in foreign leagues. If we are to improve we must invest in the sport. Particular attention to the youth teams and coaching staff will ensure a smooth progression of our standard of play and success in international competitions.A foreign coach can be considered to train our club level trainers. As a technical asst. to the national team coach they could ensure modern techniques and approach are applied uniformly at club level, making the training camps at national level a gathering for perfecting game strategy and not tuition.
Bane, all the comments are very valid. Nomba, aka sungu muchiteko improve please. Sometimes it is difficult to discern what some of you are saying. We do not want to read between the lines.
Iwe KC#11 Tatuli basungu ok. This is Zambian language or english whatever you may call it mune. Obviously naunfwa mune amapoints ama guys babikile. Guys lets continue with contributions.
Iwe KC#11, dont show off, even if you may have a degree,or what ever in English. You have to accept that not every one knows this lunguage 100%.Refrain from having the spirit of criticism and appreciate others contributions
I think there is need for the coaching staff to recall midfielder,Isaac Chansa.Becoz the midfield is the only department the chipolopolo boys are lacking.
fellow football fans, how can FAZ make some serious money to help develop the sport.I don’t think dinner dances will help much. If you look at the more prosperous leagues a common feature is ALOT of money flying around !!! SAFA,FA Premier League,Bundesliga etc are run like businesses. Any ideas ???
Business firms and Companies should assist and invest in football. That is what is happening here in SA. Zambian firms are very stingy as they do not want to invest in soccer. Soccer in Zambia in the ZCCM era was flourishing because ZCCM was sponsoring teams like Mighty Mufulira Wanderers, Nkana Red Devils, Brave Nchanga Rangers, Konkola Blades, Kalulushi MOdern Stars and Roan United. We need investment in order to develop the sport, not only soccer but also other sports as well.
Business firms or companies cannot just assist by investing in football. They can only do that if they feel they could get something back. In Europe and other parts of the world companies put money in football as a way to advertise their products or services for example through logos on the teams playing kits (clubs), adverts in stadiums, some firms here in Denmark have even put name to stadiums e.g. SAS (Skandinavian Air Services) have put name to a stadium (modern) of a local club, now called SAS Arena for a contract of 3 years. I think it is also up to FAZ and clubs to take the initiative by telling these firms what they can benefit. Some firms invest in players who have a potential of making it to the big leagues, it is a gamble that sometime pays. Sale of reciprica shirts is another source of income. And lastly accountability and proper organisation of clubs and FAZ can attract investors. As long as accountability is an hidden agenda no one will be willing to invest in football
Hai..fellow chipolopolo guys..i must say iam really soory about the loss of soccer fans who died at the stadium in chililabombwe..that was sad…i can only hold the FAZ and its Govt responsible…imagine u wake up that day..get ur hard earned kwacha decide to go watch and support ur national team only not to return home..just because you have died in a stadium stampede…..because FAZ and its Govt..have never provided u with stadia security..i mean some heards must be rolling by now but because a Zambia guy is so “STUPID” these guys will go scot free..we need to punish these guys responsible for these mess somewhere else the Ted Mulonga/Kalusha Bwalya exec wud be in soup by now..i wish i was there i wud fight for theses guys and wud be future victims..man life was lost just like that..i mean everybody love football there in Zambia..who doesnt know..by now we shud have some modern stadia, good security..but why faz and its govt are busy serving person interest..there must be an inquiry.

Give employees reasonable packages before you can start investing in leisure and recreation. Once consume increase then we can talk about having funny. How would companies pump in money sport when people are hungery this would like watering flowers at kafue roundabout when there is no in many household. Stop comparing developed nations they have reserves, lower inflation, food and shelter is available for everyone. Medical care is also not a nightmare. Road network functions and every kid has can go to school.
