ZAMBIA-CHAD KICKOFF BROUGHT FORWARD BY ONE HOUR

Share

The Zambia-Chad 2008 Africa Cup, Group 11 qualifier kickoff at Konkola stadium tomorrow, June 16 has been brought forward by an hour earlier from 15:00hrs to 14:00 hrs, Faz has announced.

The kickoff has been brought forward as a safety precaution as Faz to tries to avert a repeat of the June 2 stampede at the end of Zambia’s 3-0 win over Congo-Brazzaville in another Group 11 match at the same venue that left 12 people dead.

That game also ended one-hour late following the late arrival of the Sudanese referee after he missed his inbound flight to Zambia for the match arriving at midday on the match-day that later kicked off at 16:00 hrs.

Meanwhile, there will also be a dawn-to -dusk ban on the sale of alcohol within a one-kilometer radius of Konkola stadium.

All bars within ear-shot of Konkola stadium will remain shut from 06:00 hrs to 18:00 hrs.

And Inspector General of Police Ephraim Mateyo in a press statement today cautioned all fans going for Saturdays game to be responsible and calm before and after the match.

  1. These precautions are welcome and they should continue not just because the tragedy has befallen the nation. In any case, FAZ should also ensure that they prepare winning bonuses for our boys as iam confident that they will triumph!!

  2. Go Zambia Go, the move is welcome we also salute the The police inspector General for the Security.Zambia is our country and we need to work together and promote peace.
Definitely Zambia is winning and my predicament is 5 – 0

Finish them Zambia after all they have never won a game
    Good day for all

  3. GO zambia GO my predicament is 3-0
Finish them zamiba after all thay have never won a game good day for all

  4. Ladies and Gentlemen, this is the situation;

Zambia sholud beat Chad by an avalanche of goals and hope that SA and Chad draw or SA wins. Should Congo win, they will have amassed 8 points going into their last game against which they will easily win, despite playing away, to accumulate a maximum of 11 points.

After beating Chad, Zambia will be at 10 points gooing into its away game against SA and should Zambia lose, they will remain at 10 points and finish third in the group behind Congo at 11 points.

This mathematical chances are not what we need in these qualifiers. It all goes back to the match we lost at home against SA.

However, the situation being the way it is, we can only hope SA wins or draws tomorrow.

    Go Chipolopolo Go

  5. Sorry, I forgot to indicate my name in the above submission.

  6. My ‘PREDICAMENT’ is that I can’t watch the game… my PREDICTION however is 3-1 in favour of Zambia, and I have a gut feeling that Mbesuma will break his goal drought with a brace. Rainford Kalaba will add the third.

  7. I predict a 2:0 victory for the BIG ZED, Lets not underrate Tchad, they might just put up a spirited performance just like Liberia did in 2005 we had to rely on GREAT KALU who scored that winning goal in the dieing minutes. GOOD LUCK CHIPOLOPOLO BOYS!!

  8. Chipolopolo, never underrate. I predict Zambia will win 2-0. Mbesuma, evening if he is leaving Portugal, will score 2 goals

  9. 1216GMT: GOAL Zambia 0-1 Chad Kedigul Hillaire pounces to silence the home crowd.

    What is this?
    Come on Zed

  10. 2-0 for the zed boys. And my further good wishes goes to Barca in their final emotional game of the seaon.Go zed! go!

  11. BBC

1235GMT: There is plenty of goalmouth action in the Konkola stadium, but the Zambian strikers seem unable to get their bearings. The home fans are getting restless.

  12. 1239GMT: GOAL Malawi 0-1 Morocco The Atlas Lions take the lead, a mistake from Malawi goalkeeper Simeon Kapuza as he goes to clear the ball allowing El Mubarak in to score.

  14. GOAL Zambia 1-1 Chad: It has been a long time coming, but it’s the equaliser for Zambia – Collins Mbesuma notching with a simple tap-in from six yards out.

  15. You know justice,i ididnt read your live score line.I thought it was one of the predictions. Then mine has gone sour

  16. Hey guys, just found this site. Do you guys have a football forum or is this the only place to catch reports on Zed football?

Anyway, hope you go on and win the game. All the best 🙂

  17. Desire, It’s OK, hope we win, I was shocled when I saw Chad were leading, maybe they got paid by SA to ZED (joke)

  18. Just looking at the line up itself, you can tell that the midfield is so porous. Those midfielders phiri has fielded in cant contain the pressure.Am not saying they are bad but they lack experience. They need some one like Chansa,Sichone to command them. Sometimes as a coach you need to give room to people’s opinions.Since when did we start to push him for the recall of Isaac Chansa.?I hope he wont deny us again to travel to Ghana like he did in Benin. We are hurting coz its to much. Getting in trouble to teams like Chad! No! No!

  19. Chiyama long range shot parried. best shot in the last 10 mins. three mins left.
looks like we are ehading for an embarassing draw!

  20. boy, these guys want to score greasers or what? they are so slow. There’s been no pace since Jacob left.

  21. I think the fans have seen enough and leaving.
They look very dejected and may find solace in town over a cold one. Again nothing spectacular.

  22. I think the players thought they had won this one already even before kickoff. Anyway soccer is a funny game, we all know that. Playing at Konkola was neither a good idea

  23. 1-1. we wait for tomorrows result in Pointe Noire. Chad did what any spolier would do. These guys believe too much in unnecessary wing play.

  24. These are really hard times for us who love the game.Soccer is another painful disease.Destiney was just in our own hands and we let it slip away like that

  25. 1402GMT: FULL TIME Zambia 1-1 Chad Zambia’s chances of winning Group 11 are virtually ended by Chad’s unexpected draw.

  26. There we go again with our calculations. If Congo beats SouthAfrica and all that crap…We need to take care of our own business and let others worry about us.We shouldn`t have allowed emotions overide our thinking when we let Kalu go.He had started building a youthful team for the future and given time our progress could have been good. It`s not time to start calling for Patrick Phiri`s sacking but continue on our rebuilding process with alot of emphasis on the under 20& 23.Let`s not just focuss on Ghana 2008 but groom a team for 2010 World Cup.I `m currently disappointed but we need to finally get this right and move forward as a nation.

  27. Our shud now shift to Pointe noire and lets pray that the match ends in a tie aswell to keep our glimmer of hope alive though it looks lyk Phiri has made history as the coach to fail to take Zed to ACNs 2004 & 2008.

  28. Our attention shud now shift to Pointe noire and lets pray that the match ends in a tie aswell to keep our glimmer of hope alive though it looks lyk Phiri has made history as the coach to fail to take Zed to ACNs 2004 & 2008.

  29. PAINFUL INDEED WE DEFINITELY OUT

ANY JACK THANKS FOR THE UPDATES.

    But we had it coming.

You can not play strikers and defenders and expect to win. Ba Patrick why bu ukufikosha pali Chansa. Bushe liteam lyenu mweka bakalamba.

Heads should roll and changers must be made accordingly to prepare for 2010 AFCON and World Cup.

With the quality of players we have we are supposed to be punishing such teams.

Maybe Patrick Phiri was using this match to prepare for COSAFA tournament. Ba Phiri, we are tired of winning this COSAFA nonsense. We wanted the Africa Cup.

    Nomba chapwa

  30. No time to look back.Let kalu rest. And 2010 is very far,all we needed was Ghana. you only enjoy CAN cup if your own nation is there

  31. Dominic Yobe futi ai pa isha 2-0 to Landskrona, it is funny cause this the chap who was asking to be included in the Olympic team, he is crap. I am watching him right now. Kaumba do not even consider this boy, he is really crap, perharps his hair is too heavy

  32. Accept poor perfomance and start planning instead of crying and praying for draw in Congo. failure to plan is planning to fail. Zambia fails because of thinking they have God in their favour forgeting God is for all. I wont be suprised that Congo will beat RSA and the final game, Zambia lose to South Africa and Congo beat Chad. Zambia more likely to come third.

  33. This is heart breaking.

I will only be back on monday. Let me rewind so that I can give an objective analysis. I am guarding against emotional outbursts. This is a shock but very zambian. We never learn.

  34. Justice, iam watching this game too and totally agree with your comments. Yobe is playing badly indeed.
The boy has been crying to be considered for national duties….but not with the kind of play he is exhibiting!!!

  35. OK, Lawre, I am really disappointed with Yobe, but where is Boyd, is he on the bench?? Ni nshi kwena what type players do we produce our country. Lawre I have not seen anythin special about Yobe nga iwe, awe kwena katwishi. As for the Chad game and no excuse I still fell it was wrong for this game to have been played at Konkola Stadium after the loss of blood at the same venue, we should have changed the venue no doubt about that. Anyway it is FAZ who decide, and it is them who are responsible for our loss. Let us look forward to our U/20/23 I think we have better players there
CHEERS WITH A BIG “TUBO” SKÃ…Ã…Ã…Ã…Ã…Ã…Ã…Ã…Ã…L nu drkker vi

  36. Only group winners qualify. The host team and the defending champion joins them. The remaining three slots go to best runners up.

  37. Lawre. Vi skal have Turborg og vin idag. Hvordan går det der henne? regn og regn her i Danmark. Det må være det samme hos dig, da jeg kan se på kampen, at banen er vådt, hilsen
    Justice

  38. Yobe was good at U20 but not anymore!!!I dont know about Boyd Mwila, maybe the boy is still warming the bench.
I suspect these boys cheat on their right age and as such fail to produce when everyone expects them to do so. Kabili ninshi naba kota!!!
Our U20…or U30 that is going to Canada should be properly psyched when they clinch professional contracts. We are tired of producing people that fail to last on the international scene

  39. Justice,

    I am tempted to respond.

I agree with you. We should have looke for an alternative venue but, do we learn?

Respect the dead you see now

  40. Sad as it may be we should be used to being ” almost at the top” but fall shot when it comes down to it. one day the sun shall shine on Zambia again. Remember Zambia under the sun? Yeah right if luck is on Zambia’s side God is somewhere else.
The fact remains we have the talent we just cant get organised enough to get the job down.
One of the worst complements we get is ” Zambia has the potential to be champions” yeah Potential potential , this means we cant get it done.
To our boys thank you for your service we will always be behind you. You did your best and thats all we ask, like the great ones before you we know you give 100%. We still have a chance keep your heads up. Like the legend Liwewe said ” in football anything can happen”
Go zambia go!!! win or loose we are behind you!
    loadist out.

  41. Its really a heart breaking day in Zambian football. You cant think of the future at the moment.Tomoro marks one of the bigest days in spanish football, with three teams fighting for the title.Only madrid has destiney in their hands. As far as tomoro is concerned, it will be another hectic day for all my fellow Barcelona fans.Kick off time 9:00pm.But i believe Marlloca will cause an upset in Madrid.Go barca go! Mès que un club! Justice do you follow spanish liga?

  42. Some times if you are so upset and comfused you tend even to forget spellings. You can imagine i write tomoro, instead of tomorow.oops another sleepless night

  43. Dennis Lota has scred again.Four goals in 2 matches.Willthis man ever finish? He looks and runs like a 15 year old. We nned him in the national team to add more fire power up front.

  45. So many people on this blog were saying krap about Collins Mbesuma. He has today scored and saved us from total embarassment from the Chadians. No one is to be blamed in this lose,( 1-1 is a lose at this stage of the competition.)There were alot of injuries reported and when players are injured, we cant do much but play with lower calibre material which is availble.
The group will become so Mathematical and i dont think any calculus problem can now fix Zambia in to Ghana 2008.

  46. We should not blame anyone the problem with Zambia is we forget soccer is played on a probability basis. you win, lose or draw so that was the case today. However if Mbesuma scored for me its not enough for him to come todays before the game we need adquate preparation. Football is not an individual sport but a collective one. Collins he not a start like in the times of Kalusha Bwalya. If he Kalu needs the laddies of Thimothy Mwetwa, Johnson Bwalya, Derby Mankinka und Charles Musonda. In the times of Uka Godfrey we had Alex Chola in field. Zambia has to work to making a formidable team. However we wait and see how SA plays Congo. The rest still on.

  47. Desire, yes I do watch Spanish football, as well as English, Germany and of course Danish. I played football in Zambia in my School days (Mumbwa Secondary School) and here in Denmark at amature level for 8 years. I really love football especially Zed soccer

  48. Hiya,
