Local enterpreneuers have been challenged to add more valure to their raw materials if they are to penetrate the international market.
National Technology Businness Centre, NTBC, Chairperson Miriam Nkhunika says it is
gratifying to see local companmies extracting raw material from within the country
and turning them into finshed products for local usage.
Mrs. Nkhunika says through doiing such, job opportunities can be created to the
local people.
Mrs. Nkhunika was speaking last night in lusaka when she launnched the Mungongo, a
kalaharim Bio Care Health Product.
She emphasised the the Mungongo coming on the fore would help reduce indiscriminate
cutting of trees but itb encourages communites to protect trees by gurading trees
jealously mthereby serving trees.
She commended the NTBC for transfering technology to enterpreneuers saying the end
product has seen splendid lauches of chili sauce and soya milk among other products.
And speaking, kalaharim Bio Care Director Chalres Wamuwange appealed to the
corporate world to help market Mungongo.
Mr. Wamuwange said the Mungomnngo oils can be used as a cosmetic while the Mungongo nut can be used a oil for cooking.
Value addition to raw materials is welcome but unfortunately it is very expensive to add value if you are a Zambian, yet it is cheaper if you are a foreigner due to concesions that support foreign investments other than local ones.
What we need are Policies that support the locals as well, otherwise we will not reach full potential
That is what we need innovation. I was impressed to see when I drank Maheu coming from a factory. I wonder if Zambians value such ventures. In economics what matter most is home market- I mean a market that is able to consume all its goods and services before it can export. This makes the economy strong and when you have surplus you can export. If people could know money circle. Its is Household-companies-state back to household before we can include imports and exports. Once consumption takes place you see investment and leads to job creation once jobs are there people have money to buy good and services hences improving condition of living. Good conditons of services is when such essential like food, shelter, health, transport, communication, education can be provided.
Alas this is the same reason why the west never built Processing industries in Africa. They knew the tactics if this happened then continents like European would not be inhabited becuase they dont have these resources. Europe is cold most crops can not grow and they have no mines all what the have is technology that is what God wanted to see pipo trade
The biggest problem I’ve seen with most Zambians is that if you see your friend is doing well, you try by all means to bring him/her down, instead of trying to compete with him/her to build up.
We the younger generation have the ability to change this. Lets support one another and compete constructively.
