Sata boycotts launch, comes under fire

Share

Patriotic Front (PF) president, Michael Sata, boycotted the launch of the Zambia Centre for Inter-party Dialogue (ZCID) at Mulungushi International Conference Centre yesterday because he wants board chairperson, Katele Kalumba, to step down.

But the ZCID, MMD and UNIP criticised Mr Sata’s decision to shun the function. Speaking at a press briefing at his home in Rhodes Park yesterday before the official launch of ZCID by President Mwanawasa, Mr Sata said the PF shunned the function because it was left out of the list of main speakers.

“What kind of dialogue is ZCID promoting when the board chairman, Katele Kalumba, is MMD with a lot of interest in the operations of the centre.

We requested from the board chairman that we should be accorded an opportunity to speak but we did not get a favourable answer,” Mr Sata said.

He said PF also requested the Netherlands Institute for Multy-Party Democracy, who funded the ZCID. to consider their position but did not get a favourable response either.

Mr Sata wondered why ZCID did not give an opportunity to other political parties to speak at the official launch instead of restricting speeches to the board chairman and President Levy Mwanawasa.

“We have large number of members of Parliament and, honestly, PF and the United Party for National Development (UPND) could have been given an opportunity to speak at the official launch because that could have promoted dialogue the centre is promoting,” he said.

But the MMD and ZCID condemned the decision by the PF leader to boycott the official launch of ZCID.

Dr Kalumba, who is also MMD national secretary, said Mr Sata was an experienced politician who should understand how such functions were organised.

Dr Kalumba said Mr Sata should not have boycotted the official launch of ZCID because he was part of the political party summit, which met on Saturday to discuss national issues affecting the country such as the constitution-making process.

“Personally I have a lot of respect for Michael Sata and it’s a pity that he boycotted such an important function especially when dialogue among leaders of political parties in the country was being enhanced by ZCID,” he said.

Dr Kalumba urged the PF central committee members to advise Mr Sata on the importance of the ZCID.

“We had some of PF members present at the official launch and the train has started off without the PF leader…as you heard from President Mwanawasa I can only appeal to Mr Sata to support the process just as he did on Saturday,” he said.

And UNIP vice-president, Njekwa Anamela, said there was no need for the PF leader to boycott the official launch of ZCID.

In an interview yesterday, Mr Anamela said the decision by ZCID not giving party presidents an opportunity to speak at the function could have been sorted out later.

UPND leader, Hakainde Hichilema, also shunned the official launch of ZCID.

Among the opposition who attended the function include FDD president, Edith Nawakwi, National Democratic Focus leader, Ben Mwila, Ken Ngondo of All People’s Congress Party, and UNIP’s Tilyenji Kaunda.

Several Members of Parliament from both MMD and the opposition also attended the official launch of ZCID.

  1. Decisions based on an after-thought can be devastating. Why was he in agreement with everything on saturday, then turn around on tuesday. Certainly he knew Kalumba was chairman on saturday. This can only be likened to behaviour you expect to find in a kindergarten…

  2. Micheal Chilufya Sata is one person who never wants to see the fruitful progression of a particular event. His assumption is that once dialogue with all stake holders is held resulting in good results, he will then have nothing to oppose to.
    Its his nature unfortunately!!!
This is the man who swears that he never supported chiluba to go for a third term.

  3. What is wrong with this man!!!
    What does he really want?

He is behaving like a spoilt child who refuses to take part in a meal because he canot sit at the head of the table.

  4. May be Sata does not understand what it means to be in opposition. He can even oppose himself if elected republican president.

  5. The ZCID is a forum for political parties. The board is composed of representives of political parties and the secretary of the Board Katele Kalumba is from a political party.

The chairman of ZCID is a neutral person in this case Judge Chomba.

Sata or PF are not the only members to be dictating and bulldozing.Let him remain by the wayside and become irrelevant to the proccess.
Ther is no need for Sata to row in the opposite direction when every body is rowing in one direction
    Shame on him!!!

  6. A Person who can align himself with Mugabe, what can you expect.
But anyway,he could and has valid reasons, why should Katele chair such a meeting? And if the meeting was a “dialogue” why should only the chairman and president be allowed to speak, where the other parties only LISTENERS, it all means the basis of such a meeting is USELESS and BASELESS.

  7. “favorable response” must mean all that you want is given to you. Ba RN Pretoria(4) nobody could have better described Cobra than you have !!!

  8. 8# I conquer with you maybe this man grambles and oppoese himself at night. No Levy I supposed to be President of Zambia. The old is sick he need reduction.

  9. OLD DOG, contravesial always,he was always one in fore front oppossing the constituion change.
    Zambia can do without him.

  10. Can someone on this blog tell me the way ZCID was constituted? How did Katele assume the position of Chairman? Until when I get such data will I be priviledged to comment, for now ,Sata’s reasoning makes alot of sense.Had Frederick Chomba been chosen to speak this thing would have made a lot of sense.

  11. i do agree with Mbulawa and Kuku, the whole ZCID concept does strike me as fishy especially that an interested party is chairing the whole procedings.Sata might just be right

  12. It might seem that most bloggers have missed the point, you are only attacking Sata when HH also was not there.Come to think of it these two opposition leaders run the biggest number of opposition MP’s and those who ran like children after candy run small parties.THAT SHOULD SAY SOMETHING

  13. Why didnt he protest on the very first day. As much as dont like Kalumba so I would want to see this Constitution process being done at a very low cost measure. Last time I asked who knows how much was spent on the Mungomba CRC. Even Paparazii and Anonymus has not come up and tell us.

  14. Sata is a very Childish old man. How paradoxical!!
If you could only see the way he was reacting on MUVI TV yestarday!!
Like a newly born baby crying for the mothers attention.

His outbursts were unacceptable. Even when he is talking sense, you wouldnt want to hear what he was talking about. He must learn honourable ways of packaging his message. He makes me ‘sick’!!!

  15. 15# Chimwemwe, HH is out of the country attending to other serious issues like ACP-EU. This is what we division of labor the vice chairman attend if you dont his name is Mr.Kapita. Instead ask where was Godfrey Miyanda and Never Mumba. There is no mention of Sakwiba.

  16. I agree with kuku , lets look closely to the root of all this, had judge chomba been the chairman or any neutral person it would have made senese .Katele’s image is not even one you want to put in leadership of such nature , we all know katele’s past. But until we know what really transpired in choosing katele as chairman, sata at this point, my fellow zambians could be right .

  17. Ladies and gentlemen,am not so much into politics and the like but,if i was to go back to school and try to understand issues relating INTER -whatever, i think its a matter of brings things collectively PAMODZI under which a leader as in this situation ,to avoid certain biases, should be a NEUTRAL INDIVIDUAL who is not connected to any political party but has in him the interest of the people and not that of the political parties.
In my own stupidness, being Mr.SATA,MR.NGONDO,MR.H.H,Brig.Gen G.Miyanda and other political leaders should have been given some minutes to express JOY at the fruitful launch of the INDABA station.
If nothing like that occured who would one blame.
You don’t continue blaming one person for the wrongs he did was he was kicking his mother B4 birth.
Ask him why, then out of his response, critisize or correct.
Why do we have to go back to the Ba shi TITO’s reign which shall never come into being again.
Let by gones be by gones.

  18. chimwemwe (JHB) #19, HH wants to make political capital out of the constitutional issue we have in the country. All these chaps are trying to do is to attract attention. Controversy sells, remember?

The little votes they got in the elections have gone to their heads!!! They want to frustrate the efforts of the rest so that they can letter blame others and gain political milage. te?

  19. Mr born rich, you just hate Mr Sata one can tell by the comments you make.If you look at the setup critically you will find that having a chairperson who is partial is a flaw. HH also never pitched up but everyone seems to ignore that.

  20. As to why he attended the saturday meeting, nobody knows and we all wish he attended the launch seeing his influence in his paliamentarians,I also beleive that the saturday one was chaired by justice chomba, may be after getting the memo as to who was going to be in leadership they decided otherwise, lets not be narrow minded with this issue but rather look at both sides.

  21. #24. T boz
Don’t put words in my mouth. I have enough of my own.
What you must understand is that sata did not want this thing to succeed for his own selfish reasons.
The first day he was the only one who almost boycoated when it was advised that the journalist where not going to be part of the proceedings. Does he think the other political leaders where dumb?

He seemed not to understand what was going on. He looked like he was just woken from sleep and told about the meeting. He raised the issue of the Katele Kalumba and an explaination was given by Sakwiba among others.

All i am saying is that there are ways in which these concerns can be handled, not the way he is dealing with things. He must not be allowed to derail the process. For a time, it seemed that we were heading somewhere, but for this man…..

  22. T Boz 24# you are like critising and you a fan of Sata and FTJ. You dont see any wrong in them. Open your eyes you are in wrong team. Sata void at one time he will make sure that levy get out of plot one that was after the election in 2001. This is very man who was accusing the president to have lapse of mind after that accident along great east road. The man is sad that FTJ dribbled him´. He was only given a position of minister without portfolio that meant to be under LPM. So the man is angry and he wants to frastrate anything that leby us doing. Let him go out of politics like what Grey Zulu did after 1991 and lead a private life. My suggestion he should start a new TV show because he is a good comdian in politics he has failed.

  23. Ba born Rich bola panshi,if I were to ask you what wrong has Mr Sata committed? In life its good to be principled and let your conscious guide you,its not always that you have to justify your action to the senseless masses each time your Kampingu tells you oherwise.LPM and Company have really trivialised the opposition such that they think they will always drive anyone without paying attention to traffic lights. If I was a traffic warden I will issue Katele and Levy a penalty charge.Dialogue means alot its not about being clever its about mutual understanding. Then another question Mr Born Rich what was the purpose of making Justice Fredrick Chomba chair the meeting and not Katele?More questions than answers, there is a lot inconsideration by the rulling party towards the feelings of opposition

  24. Chances are that SATA does not have any advisers on political issues. His MPs are cowards. They do not have enough caurage to advise the man otherwise. His opinion is always theirs. What a coincidence.

The Best sata could have done is to remain in the grouping and influence things from within. If he is as popular as he claims to be, and if his cause is a genuine one, i do not see any reason why he can fail who win the support of the other opposition political leaders on this score.

But as i have said, SATA just wants to frustrate the whole process so that we can continue bickering. He thrives on controvesy. It is as simple as that.

  25. Kuku#28 Naimwe ba Mudaala how can blink left when you want to turn left when driving. Definately you cause any accident and endangering everyone on the street. This King Cobra has poison in his mouth dont follow him. Teamwork is what now is needed. Not kulapandulula. I have said time and again Democracy is about compromise and majority. So this what the majority want. Keep right and turn right

  26. #28 Ba mudala wandi ba KUKU, tule teya bola panshi. iya pamulu balaichena.
I will just refer you to comment #29.

  27. ZCID is being sponsored by the Netherlands, so all parties should have gone in as equals, and given a chance to decide who was going to chair the proceedings and decide the format of the proceedings, as things stand, Katele and LPM propounding to the rest DOES NOT CONSTITUTE DIALOGUE, it constitutes LECTURING!!! These are simple definitions to be found even in the most basic dictionaries, MMD is trying to hijack this thing, think what you may, Sata’s stance is right on this occasion!

  28. #30 &31 I think #32 has summed up the whole topic.the begining and ending of Bauze’s statements concludes this debate.MMD has been preaching the ‘no short cut routes to success’ but they are the ones in the forefront using utushila twatondo,(footpaths)to champion their wishes, Bakolwe basekana ifipato.

  29. #33. kuku
Sooner rather than latter, you will be able appreciate what ba Easy and i are trying to put accross.
    Bye for now.

  30. I see no need why a lot of energy should be spent discussing the actions or choices taken by a few individuals. Although one may argue that Mr Sata and the other politicians who didnt attend are ‘national’ leaders they are individuals in the first place. Under democratic dictates each and everyone has a right to choose and Mr Sata is no exception. If he chose not to attend that is his choice, and not that of the rest of the membership of the PF. Unless by condemning Sata we are suggesting that the ZCID is a wing of the MMD due to Katele’s participation? I feel their more serious issues than we can expend our energies on than dicussing petty political matters. Zambian please!!!!!

  31. After the opening, President Mwanawasa left in a Toyota 4×4 instead of the official Mercedes Benz he came in.The security officials first allowed the Mercedes Benz and other official cars leave, creating a false impression that President Mwanawasa was in his car.Later, President Mwanawasa emerged and entered the Toyota 4X4 which was without a flag before his security men sped off.

  32. #33 Ba Kuku what has went wrong with you. I cannot believe that you want to defend Sata now. This is one of the persons who have failed our nation throughout. He is like what the Tongas call chapya koku (taking the wind direction. Look he was in KKs UNIP came MMD, he jumped in the bandwagon and played the squiler rolle. When he realised that he has been cheated he formed his undemocratic party. How do you expect this man to dialogue when he cant do it in his own house. PF leadership is only Garry Scot and Sata. I have never heard anyother person talking. Born rich is right Sata have over lived his usefullness, He is hopeless, Shameless , heartless, Codeless, homeless, left alone in the cold because we Zambians will shall not look back its time to move on. Everyone is talking of cost measures he alone is protecting. I wonder if the constitution is for this many vital. I think personal pride first, then money and power are his agenda. Unfortunately he will not achieve all the three.

  33. How do I know what (old way we go forward issues of the internal

And The Zambia Episcopal Conference said today it regrets a political press conference held on church premises on Sunday by some Members of Parliament of the Patriotic Front (PF).
The conference was held in the afternoon at the church’s Kapingila House. “Management of the Zambia Episcopal Conference’s Catholic Secretariat were misled by the organizers on the nature of the press conference,” the church said in a statement.
“As a matter of policy, ZEC does not entertain partisan political functions on its premises such as schools, colleges and all other Catholic institutions. The Zambia Episcopal Conference wishes to state very categorically that it had nothing whatsoever to do with the said press conference, the statement went on.
“The Zambia Episcopal Conference regrets any misunderstanding this may have caused.”

  34. 39# Those are security measures. If the intelligent suspect anything they can change the tactics there and then. They have a duty to protect the life of the president. Kuku we have to save money not just spending anyhow. In economics we say miniumu input with maximum output. Ask Pundit may he knows how Synergie effect works 1+1 = 3 we have to apply it here.

  35. Innocent Chimba 37# You have missed the whole issue here we are talking of a document that governs all Zambians. That is why we are exhausting ourselves we want something better for every Zambian. It worth dying for a little. Once we dont talk then we will have a situation like i 1972 or 1996. Look FTJ blocked kaunda by changing the law a presidential candidate should have both parents born in Zambia, yet he himself we cannot even trace his parents. I think this is bad and its contained in the constitution.

  36. Ba Easy, i admire those professionals. Is it easy to join them or any idea of who i could contact for consideration? I have been long wanting to join them since i was 15 years. I hear they are very secretive and go through rigorous foreign military training preparing them for any challenge which i look forward undergoing too.

  37. 44# Fundi, I have not rights to discuss security matters here. Plz go to labour office and ask when they are recruiting. Its not my duty to tell you. I am sorry I cannot help. I a noble Zambian who knows his responsibilities. We should further discuss about the topic above.

  38. I support SATA on this one. This is a Country constitution not an MMD paper. Remover ‘Stinking thief’ Katele as Chairman. Involve all parties to the dialogues. Chose a new neutral Chairman.

  39. You have failed to put Katele Kalumba behind bars how u are going to manage to remove him from chairmanship of ZCID. He is chiyengi.com. Right now he already know on what he talking about him.

  40. Where are we going to get the money for all this funny
committes you are coming up with.By elections are still coming,so far we have 4 and 10 more to come. One by election is 4billion and this money can build a unversty in Kafue or Chongwe .Sha. Here Mbingu wamutarika 72years old president of Malawi with no MP’s
and he was bussy fighting Sata the running his gornvement. My advice to LPM is that go back to work,or you may come out of plot 1 with doing anything for this country, apart from meeting with Katele Kalumba and political party.Kafupi ali ni kwindi alelya no kuputilisha. Appoint Judge Smith to take over the ACC and the task force. I am we are too poor to have so many by elections,we need this money to give loans to the youth of Zambia

  41. #40 Mwaice Easy Iam not supporting Sata, what Am saying is can someone tell me the principle or modus operand that ZCID was formed on?How did Katele assume the role of Chairman? And next, where was Fredrick Chomba at the launch, why couldnt he speak If at the convention he was the one who chaired that conference in his capacity as a neutral person? Why did they reject other people from other parties to speak? With all those querries answered by you and Born Rich then I will debate positively minus that SATA is RIGHT in his behaviour.Mwaice Easy dont just agree on anything, even when the color is Red just because LPM says its blue you also say its blue and yet down your heart you know its Red.The ruling party has assumed alot of things in their governance.I like to debate with facts and not assumptions. Most of you on this blog debate on assumptions, being a manager and entrepreur some of you are not fit for apprenticeship, judging by your reasoning. This arm twisting wont take us anywhere

  42. You people there is nothing wrony in Sata not being
aparty of the meeting, since his MP’s were there then well and good. The big problem here is the money that Katele Kalumba and his friends got from the Netherlands Istitute for Multy Party Democracy by saying will pay to people who will aparty of the meeting.I told they got something like 80.000 dollars to use for the first meeting. It is because of this that Sata wouldn’t like his party name to be used by ZICD in ukwiba money .Let Katele step down and Judge Chomba take over and should be allowed to speek at the meeting so that we know if all the party teams are haapy with the all thing. Apa ni kamoney abe naKatele bale se nda from this Institute

  43. I AGREE WITH YOU THERE WAS ALOT OF MONEY GIVEN TO ZICID TO PAY SOME THING TO THE PEOPLE WHO WERE AT THE
EVEN LPM SHOULD HAVE GOT SOME THING.GIVE PF THERE MONEY KATELE KALUMBA.

  44. Latest London court will tomorrow at 11.00 hrs pass judgement on the plunders of nation treasury. 49# Kuku facts are facts Sata is mute about his behave. He has not given any statement so that we can support him. If keeps quite he will think he is wrong. He should have blown the news immediately. I have been doing research for what I got it seems this movement started in 1993. I am yet to confirm when I get the right data. Ba Kuku I will late you know. What we want is to see unity when it comes to nation matters this is the time to fight each. You can stage your political fight in parliament not outside. My concern is the money involved of constitution process pipo wanted to rip off the little profit we have made from te mines. We need the money to go to street kids, health. Ba Kuku you are in Ndola please Lusaka immediately and visit Leopards Hills cemeteries. You will drop tears because the sight is not good to look twice. We can slow death motarity. Pump money in education.

  45. I thought paliament has the constitutional right to amend the constitution. All these committees and assocaiations are good but they making the work of paliament parallel to them. Its through paliament that a CA will be declared. All the people wanta CA excpet LPM. FTJ personalied a number of cluses in the present constitution and now LPM wants to do the same with his Chienge Wizard.

  46. Ba 53# Power 2 the people, The aim this time is not ammending the constitution but replacing it with a new one. Parliament has no powers to do this. Read article 79. Exactly this where we are heading too. But it seems people are not understanding all what they want is to root out the govt of every ngwee it has substained.

  47. Ba Easy #54- Not Everything in the present constitution is evil. But we have to have a balanced constitution that covers all sectors.

  48. All those that have condemned Sata should read the editorial comment of The Post and reflect on their comments. Sata did the right thing to attend the ZCID meeting and ‘agree’ to the deliberations. However, “not all that glitters is gold”. It takes a critical thinker to analyse the meeting outcome and compare with the pronouncements from the ‘main’ player – LPM to realise that the status quo has not changed. Why have Katele as Chairman? What is the agenda? I wouldn’t want to attend a meaningless ‘meeting’ with a hidden motive. Why cant the ZCID be chaired by an impartial body or person. The National constitution is not about politicians ro political parties and no one political party should ‘champion’ its enactment just to perpetuate their selfish interests.

  49. So why calling CA when you just wanted to repeal a few articles. It is not so easy as you Ba Power 55#. The whole things complicated. You already made a constitution review commission and in that documents are things cotained which you be want to be included. This can only happen thru overhauling the whole constitution. Please enquire why the Mvunga commission, Mwanakwate commission was not used to change the constitution learn something.

  50. You pipo, you should try to extract sense from Nonsense. SATA is man who has a lot of ideas, pouplar ones and no so popular. A good govt would benefit a lot from SATA’s criticsm and sarcasm. I will never vote for SATA, but I will listen to SATA and borrow ideas which I beleive are usefull because the man has a lot of common sense, though he has himself at the center.
Listen to SATA and reconfigure the ZCID Vehicle to carry all the major stakeholders in governance of Zambia. There is nothing to lose by allowing SATA and UPND from speaking..Please remove Katele as chairman and appoint someone neutral. Katele is a thief, just like Chiluba

  51. So the problem is Katele Ba HK#58. Now let us look at the proceedure of how the constitution process will be made. I thought after this Inter Party meeting is Parliament to debate on the Constitution Conference Bill. Once enacted then we can move to the next stage. Why are we heating our heads against the wall so that I have a headache. If this plunder is the problem remove him from ZCID he should start doing farming instead we need more pipo to feed the nation.

  52. Easy, the problem is Katele Kalumba being of bad standing and the MMD wanting to influence the outcome of the Document. If we want to put credibility on this constitutuion road map we need someone who has no bias.

  53. I also wonder why MMD hold on to this man dispite his bad image. So the same should be done to Katele Katoto sorry I mean Kalumba so that he can leave politics to clean pipo. What are going to do with him. Now he wants to leads in the roadmap of the constitution go and read the article reported about this man in world press. Shame!!!

  54. Worldwide: Police accused of using witchcraft to catch fugitive
    By Margaret Wilson in Lusaka
    Last Updated: 7:28pm GMT 07/03/2003

Claims that the Zambian police removed their underpants in order to search more effectively for a fugitive are the latest bizarre revelation in a row about the role of witchcraft in the capture of Zambia’s most wanted man.

Katele Kalumba, former foreign minister, vanished three months ago after his arrest was ordered on charges of plundering the nation’s resources. Despite the best efforts of a large team of police and reported sightings from as far as Belgium, he was living undetected in a tent on his farm in north-western Zambia.
Police say witchcraft lay at the heart of his elusiveness and they displayed an assortment of “magical objects” found in his tent when they finally caught up with him.

  55. Credit to all of you over the interparty talks. one thing we all need to know is that ZCID chairperson is judge chomba who wouldn’t like to be involved in corruption the netherland institute multy party democracy gave a lot of money to ZCID , believe me not the people benefiting from this money is Katele kalumba and his blind followers. if u look at the list of the setup of the so called Constitution assembly it has 40 party representatives and the only active ones are not more then 6. so when u vote u find that, the 35 ghost parties will agree to whatever Kalumba will say about the constitution and other organization on board, who will be on payroll of kalumba and MMD.Sata is not stupid he knows well that Kalumba got lots of money from the Netherlands for his pocket. Why should this interparty be funded by outsiders last year the norwegian embacy, one of the officers wrote to their country that there is more beer in the stands beeing sold then water, meaning Zambia is a Beer country

  56. Problem with sata is that he only complains when he is not beneficiary! If sata would be given a “kapoto” today, he would be the first one to speak highly of LPM and the route that MMD has taken. Sata is simply trying to get attention for his political gain! mind you, the old man still belives that he will be the next president! let us move on without sata, who needs him anyway?

  57. Sata is just trying to get attention! The old man still belives that he could be the next president of Zambia. we do not need unprincipled people like him? if sata were to be given a post today! you would see how quick he would change his position and support the route that the MMD has taken! let the talks begin with or without sata..! who needs him anyway! the old man is only looking for a good pension with plenty benefits (zambian presidency).

  58. Some political parties have family membership and other’s have more than 10 MPs.How can a normal thinking person give the same number of places. This is just madness of Katele Kalumba and his team. Mwale is MP (1)HH more than 10 MP’s UNIP not more 4 MP’s,FDD not more than 4 MP’s ,Sakwiba not more than 4 Mp’s,MMD more than 10 MP’s. Miyanda (o) Ng’ondo (0) and the family parties (0). About 37 parties have 0 MP’s ,even
at work the one with degree will get the top job.May be in Zambia it is the other way around. To be a lawyer who should first have a degree and in politics it is to have MP’s and going to plot 1.UMUKULU TAPUSA EKEBO APUSA AKABWE. SATA IS OLD TETI APUSE AKEBWE.KAFUPI USED TO DO THE SAME CALLING THE SMALL PARTIES AND GIVE THEM MONEY SO THAT THEY CAN MAKE NUMBER’S AND VOTE WITH THE MMD,REMBER CHAMA CHAKOMBOKA ISSUE..BY THE WAY SATA IS SENIOR THAN KATELE KALUMBA IN SHUSHU WORK.HE BECAME A KAMUCHEKA WHEN KALUMBA WAS A SMALL BOY 2 YEARS OLD.KATELE JUST JOINED SHUSHU – OP IN 94

  59. Ba Sata nabene how can he react on the 11th hour we have heat him from the head to the toes and whole world know about. Why telling us in the evening. Anyway we cannot recall our B52s the orders have already been made and the bombs have been unleashed on this power soul. This is the problem with our Minister without Portfolio always saying things we have already had our supper and we made him our meal. Bwana Sata inform us early so that bombs can go to Kalumba Katele. Some of the points you made are correct KAKA should be stripe off this chairmanship. Let Justice Chomba be in charge because he is a clean man. Poor soul!!!!

  60. We should learn to ask questions and not just making assumptions about situations. one can only learn and get information by asking question. Bring facts or at least sound information about the whole issue. KUKU 12# has asked a question and no one seem to have answered. Can someone bring out some informaton please!

  61. Ba 69# Fizz it seems no one has this information we were caught on a wrong foot. Even I cannot tell you how the ZCID was formed. The only I can do tomorrow morning I will rush to Registra office and ask them they are registered. By the way Iam Easy´s computer so he is already sleeping. I will remind him early tomorrow dont worry. Tell Kuku we are looking for an answer to his question. Good nite c u 2morrow. PS.Kaka has charms around his neck and waist and he is using a mirror he already know we want to remove him he will becom invisiable.

  62. sata has the right to stay away!! Mulebelenga ifya ku sukulu!!

Russia is pouring cash into a new effort to jumpstart its moribund high
    tech
sector. President Vladimir Putin announced in April that the government
    will
spend US $7 billion to make the country a hub of activity in
    nanotechnology.
This comes on the heels of the creation of a $1.2 billion
    public-private
technology venture capital fund and the groundbreaking for the first of
seven new technology parks to be located near some of Russia’s
world-renowned research centers. But some observers say that despite
    the
optimistic tones sounded by Putin and others and the growing number of
successful Russian expatriates who have returned home to launch new
companies, the country will find it difficult to rival the West until
    it
revisits its policies regarding intellectual property. “There are lots

  63. #69 what worries me, most of these bloggers are learned, but they are failing to answer #12 &49, #68 you are doing your MA/Msc/PHD even in your research paper you have a problem statement, then key research question, objective of your study, significance of your study, then the method-qualitative or quantitative through a strucured questionaire, a list of your limitations then findings etc, but in this case what is ZCID doing in comparison to a research paper if you were to write one, using my outline? We all know the problem statement so why should we start climbing mountains to reach a conclusion? Tony Blair please come and rule us,our leaders have failed us,even the bloggers where we are supposed to get a fresh crop have been indoctrinated such their eyes have been reduced to noctunal and can only see in the dark tunnels or God help us especially Easy and Ci Citizen.

  64. What is the future of science and tech in zambia??? You are too much talking about leadership ,that wastes your Time!!! Try to think of what other countries are doing!! Let lpm advance school in Zambia and leadership will spring out from the siblings, leave my granny alone. He is hardworking and did alot for Zambia in all ministries he worked. He now has a sabstantial # of mps and thats why it hurts most of you on the blog when he boycots a meeting. He has his sound reasons and most of you chaps want to be shortsighted. Mudala kuku welcome today!!

  65. All you PF trolls be advised that you and your insane leader Sata are consequentially becoming irrelevant to any Zambian cause. You all been brainwashed into absolute irrelevance of dangerous blind cadreism trooping out at every flash of your leader’s strategy less reactions. This one like many moves he has nailed himself beyond recovery. How can a normal leader at such an important function be preoccupied with the motive as he says here “PATRIOTIC Front president Michael Sata yesterday said he wanted to embarrass President Levy Mwanawasa had he been allowed to give a vote of thank.” I can vow this guy is crowded with unbridled hatred, and MMD,patriotic Zambians voter and strategists will never ever see him step into our presidency” You can say all you want but i forewarn you.I will be vindicated on this one.Its time PF started looking for a leader outside it box considering that all its has are trolling blind cowards without the spine to advise Sata rightly.

  67. Strong Educational Foundations
On the face of it, Russia has strong tech foundations. Despite the economic tribulations that followed the Soviet Union’s collapse, its scientific legacy lives on in the form of 3,500 scientific research institutes employing 600,000 scientists and engineers. Russian universities churn out some 200,000 science and engineering graduates each year. “We identify Russia as one of the emerging countries with an excellent education system, and a culture of developing high technology,” says Ashish Patel, managing director for Intel Capital (INTC) in Europe, which has so far invested in a smattering of Russian technology ventures.

  68. Blogers today’s issue can leave one with a disfigured face. So read on my nanotech pastings or lets talk about something else. Its an issue that brings the best of ICBM’s from my full encyclopedia ENZAtus which ulya mudala Monk Tips ale bonfya when we were throwing stones pa UNZA.

  69. So twalamweba ko ilyashi lyamutatakuya, we have brainy leaders in zambia but most of them die young. Look at Paul tembo, Nkumbula,…we have alot of educated professionals but they all go for greener pastures, look at Pro. Hansengule!! We have our own zambian scientific invetors look at Prof. Lukwesa Mulenga with his Tisaniferon drug, an inhibitor against hiv which the medical council of zambia did not want to licence but was already selling outside and making billions of forex. Lets not despire young politicians!!!Ichalo cha zed is too big for the few politicians fighting for one BIG BONE.

  70. ZAMBIA NEW MINING TAXES DELAYED TO SEPTEMBER – MINISTER
Zambia has launched negotiations with foreign copper mining firms on raising taxes, but expects to agree new deals in September instead of this month, Commerce and Trade minister Felix Mutati said on Tuesday.Mutati said negotiations, including raising the mineral royalty rate to 3% from 0,6%, would take longer than initially expected.”We are renegotiating with individual mining firms and hopefully everything should be completed by September,” Mutati told Reuters. The government said in May it planned to conclude the negotiations in June, but Mutati said the government was cautious since mishandling the exercise might dampen investor confidence. Also on the agenda will be raising corporate tax to 30 percent from 25 percent, revisiting exemptions on customs duty for imported mining equipment and increasing power tariffs.Starting in 1998, Zambia awarded foreign mining firms tax exemptions and other incentives to woo them into the copper mining sector, which faced closures after decades of undercapitalisation amid low global metals prices.”We want a win-win situation in renegotiating the development agreements between the investors and the government,” Mutati said.Higher global copper prices have forced Zambia to renegotiate the tax incentives which in some cases were awarded over 20 years at the time the southern African country was trying to revive its mining industry.”The (mining) deals we got in the 1990s were rescue deals,” he added. The opposition Patriotic Front (PF) accused the government of failing to raise taxes in the mining sector in the run-up to the 2006 presidential and legislative elections, despite higher global metals prices. The ruling party lost all but two of the 23 parliament seats in the mineral-rich Copper Belt region after PF leader Michael Sata promised to raise taxes and to plough the revenue into social sectors.Among the foreign mining firms operating in Zambia are Canada’s First Quantum Minerals, Glencore International AG of Switzerland, Australia’s Equinox Minerals Ltd, and London-listed Vedanta Resources Plc.

  71. Ba Kuku#72, My computer informed that you around now big we dont want TB we enough tubercolosis taking to middle east where there is leadership vacuum. Tony Blair not even talk about africa. Over Sata you never know his intentions. I heard him the other day talking to himself complainig to the lord why has he let him down he wanted to rule Zambia. He said,” God I destroyed Kanyama and Msisi compounds I hoped you that heard my prayers I wanted to president” to no vail. I became Minister of Health and worked hard lord hear my prayer but instead you sent Levy the taxe collector because he repented and made him President. Why lord? This time I thought my prayers were heard for I praised you the whole friday because Saturday is Sabath a day worship and I hoped things will go in my favour to sit on the CA committee and crucify PLM through the constitution review commission since its peoples wish. Lord hear my prayer Amen

  72. Titus You are dame right the whole of europe is depending on Russia on energy and Gas consumption dont underrate Putin he is moving. Gasprom two days ago bought some shares od BP. Even USA is worried about Russia, Recently they terrorised Estonia using Cyber war the technological system was in chaos. Ask Urkraine they know better about Russia and Gas. Remember its only Russian caspulse which can go ISS. We dont need people who are derailing development this not time to politicking we need ideas.

  73. I’m finding ‘Ba Easy’ to be a comic…with his usage of the English language. Is he serious or just breaking it up? I now spend more time enjoying his English language instead of concetrating on the actual beef.

By the way, is that how Sata looks? Can cosmatic suggery performed by Dr. Katele Kalumba help? Just a caring suggestion.

  74. #83 Comedy is good for you. Thats why victor kachaka enjoyed his lyrics and dancing. Dont worry about pipo cracking english we are not at Test of Spoken English here, but the most funny one I got on the blog was zangalish!!!

  75. #83 Sata is very hundsome with a horse voice, no need cosmetika. He represents an average zambian by the way!!

  76. #83, The pic appears to represent his actual looks very well. He might have used the type of facial creams FTJ uses and stopped.
Ba Easy, needs english lessons becuse his points tend to be wasted by his meandering expressions…

  77. Remembering our old retired politicians since Kuku want to bring Tony Blair to Zambia. Our former secretary general Grey Zulu was invited to visit UK and he went to a conference hall. Many policitians were around, anruptly there was power cut out and the whole hall was dark. Sitting to Grey Zulu was Magret Thacher. Grey Zulu asked Ms Thacher, “Magret do you have also Zecso problems here”?

  78. #90A nyau was on the lorry to the airport to recieve kk. He was clad in nyau clothes and dancing za ku chipata. Then he jumped so high while the truck was cruising and fell off the truck, when the ambulance came to pick the crinkled legged nyau, upon taking off the mask only o find ni ba GILE!!

  79. 90 you very right about our old man GREY ZULU on ZESCO
and i hope it is in his new book.Even in Zimbabwe he
told Mugabe ati i didn’t know that that you oroso have Zimbamwe unza and that your zesco can off like in Zambia.

  80. 90 you very right about our old man GREY ZULU on ZESCO
and i hope it is in his new book.Even in Zimbabwe he

  81. Last time I saw Zambian TV, Muhabi Lungu was terrorising Sata M.

Anybody wishing to put Sata & his sharp tongue against the wall may do well to enlist Muhabi’s skills, I wonder where the dude is now? Maybe passed on.

My worry is that this is a complex world, and highly technical, just how in hell will Sata grasp the intellect to stir Zambia from his type of rulership? How will he dialogue with other world leaders?

I submit that in the event Sata becomes president “Ba Easy” should be Sata’s chief Government spokesman and Information Minister.

  82. Sorry people my pc made alot of nonsense last night I programmed it for the debate to go on. Nkataboy, Ba Joze is at Mfuwe making holidays. Yaba our Zed, even Mfuwe a tourist loccation is not yet computerised. In my case I have Internet access anywhere am I, even my TV and Cellular is online. This makes a difference I was VOIP since 1997 making calls which is free when PC to PC. These are the things we should strive for not wasting time talking rubbish at the expense of development of Zambia. We need high tech. We must not waste much time on constitution making we should invest our energy on developing Zambia. Anyway for those who want me to be CCSIM and I dont think I can manage I leave it to VJ and Mulongoti they have fared very well. I want to be in labour ministry because Iam creative and impose rules and regulations that will regulate our labor market. Putting good conditions of service for workers is the Key issue in Zambia. We have to reduce umemployment

  83. Sata is just being an oppoosition leader.thats how the opposition is supposed to behave when it is necessary. What, you want to be supporting the ruling party when they are wrong.

  84. The ultimate beneficiaries of this constitution are the ordinary Zambian people. They are eager to see that this process is expedited. But what are seeing mental gymanastics from one Micheal Sata.

Any way let him be outside afterall all the other parties are still there.

  85. Katele can’t represent us
    By Mwansa Pintu, Lusaka
Thursday June 28, 2007 Print Article Email Article

I totally agree with the sentiments raised by Emily Sikazwe about Katele Kalumba being the wrong person to chair the constitution-making process as reported in the Post issue of Tuesday June 26, 2007.

It’s about time as Zambians we learnt to stand up and speak out against such things.
Just who is Katele to propel the constitution-making process on our behalf? What qualifications does the man have to occupy such a critical position?

The man has a doctorate, fine. He was also minister in the Chiluba government, and he is a member of parliament for some constituency. But are these enough qualifications to put him in charge of the constitution-making process?

In my view, Katele’s questionable character based on the nature of court cases he is currently facing and conduct during Chiluba’s last term totally disqualifies him to even sit on any institution, let alone the Zambia Centre for Inter-party Dialogue (ZCID).
I sometimes even wonder why and how the MMD has accepted and allowed such a man to be its leader! What they see in this man, you will never know because as far as I am concerned, unless the courts clear his name, Katele can never and should never hold public office.

We should take a leaf from the behaviour of politicians in the Western nations. Once someone is named in any scandal or in a case of insincerity, they have no choice but to step aside and allow the law take its course. Here they will stick around and we will accept them as if nothing is wrong. And that’s why they take us for granted, and go on mismanaging our affairs.

Surprisingly, in Zambia, even convicted criminals will go in, serve their sentences and still come out and speak loudly on national issues while standing on rooftops. And we still give them our attention and listen to them! That’s why they take us for granted.
Zambians need to throw into the dust bins of history people of such characters, as Katele. Let them learn lessons from their misconduct, and let us never entertain them anymore. Once more, Katele is a misfit at ZCID. He should not even be given any space in the constitution-making process. There is nothing he can offer. Let persons of credible character be appointed to such important national positions.

As for the political parties, just how did you accept such persons like Katele to chair your meeting on Monday? Why do you pretend when you very well know about this man’s questionable character! Let’s be serious, people. This is not about child play but a serious matter. Let us not allow Mwanawasa to impose persons of questionable character on us in order to derail the constitution-making process.
Let us get rid of Katele now!! He cannot be trusted.

  86. Kuku#102 we now again together we cannot afford to throw away our direction because of one man KAKA who has cases charges. As this post reporter say KAKA should be get ridden off. I think your question why did Sata behave like that prompted the media to talk to him and find out what was the reason he was stepping down from this movement. We have a chance to bury this man despite his chiyengi charms once and for all. He is a disgrace to the nation. I know now that being more curios and enquistive is good this Anna Chifungula is doing in her job as Auditor General. Have you seen her interview with Amos. KAKA should be relieved of his duties now or never this includes his secretary position in MDD. My curiosity led me to make a research in the west such case are taken very serious to save the intergrity of the offices individuals hold. The more we keep KAKA the more will our trousers be smelling of rotten stuff. I think we Zambians we dont deserve this. Kick out now Ba PLM this man will.

  87. ctd… spoil your legal his transcript are very bad not associating with him. As much you lack learned personal so will to be good stay away from educated fools. Ba Joze if he was around he would have refered to the book of RUFQUA to explain KAKA.

  88. Ba Kuku, this Mwansa Pintu chap in the post must be another sadist who uses his emotions to post into public domains without a sense of self reflections. Who is he to discard a human being into dustbin for on the basis of past wrongs? Look at hypocricy at worst:When Sata has been vainly rambling for the Zambian Presidency with all his amoral and anti Democracy profile, such people have been the loudest moral hooligans cheerleading without conviction. How many evil things has Sata done to our Democracy and free thought of the people to be ever supported for Presidency against Mwanawasa by any decent citizen? When Katele Kalumba with all his Global credentials from WHO work experience to legislative experience, his strong education aside is freely entrusted by fellow leaders in that constitutional committee with the chair, to PF cadres its wrong. Isn’t it Sata who opposed the Mwanakatwe constitutional changes? Weren’t it Sata who started hacking the pro-democracy advocates in Chawama that opposed the third term? Weren’t it Sata who kept investing GRZ funds into his personal securities accounts at Standard Chartered to earn interest on maturity? Weren’t it Sata and his senior MP Peter Machungwa who moved with the ZK 2 Billion to Mulungushi Rock of authority for distribution to cadres? If the game seems a lost one, lets still stay magnanimous for the true leadership in us.

  89. Point of my lord , Paparrazi105# As much we dont want Sata to lead the constituition making process so we do with Katele Kalumba. He was finance minister his transcript are worse than that Sata. If was to be asked to choose between the two I will go Sata not for KAKA , the man has done more evil to the nation than the devil himself. We need a neutral man to lead us not Sata, neither Katele nor Mungomba. Justice Chomba is the right man. I want to tell you one thing, yesterday did you see the news the president of Malawi has been left without members of parliament because misconduct. Zambia has more educated people we can revolve around people who have fallen us. This is a big disappointment. Unless ýou want to tell that in Zambia we have parallel court systems, one for the rich and the other for the poor. Justice and equality should prevail no favors just because one has more money to pay his legal fees. we are destroy this lovely country and one day it will be burning.

  90. SATA is really a Leader. Even on this blog pipo cant resist to comment about him. No wonder the newspapers dance each time he plays his tune, of course in addition to the fact that they will sell like hot cakes as he himself has said before. I, without applying intellectual dishonest, say that Sata is a true son of Zambia and a true leader of course a popular leader. Those who want others to believe what there opinion about Bo President Sata will not succeed. Empirical evidence is there to show that he the masses are with him. He doesnt use corruption to get support like we have seen in the on-going nullifications of election results of MMD MPs, no. He appeals to people by explainng his manifesto, while others wait to hear what he will say then there role of critising him come. He originates others follow suit. During last elections newspapers acting under foreign influence tried hard to discredit him, but were embarassed at his performance. So if you hate him, then tough! Viva Sata!

  91. #102. KUKU
Are you aware that it has now been verified that Katele Kalumba was not imposed by MMD as the Board Chairperson of ZCID, but was elected to that position?

Are you also aware that SATA did not pull out on principle? He was angered because according to him, he was not given an opportunity to give a vote of thanks where he planned to “embarass LPM”?

Exactly what i and ‘Easy’ were saying yesterday. I told you that Sata only wants to attract attention. The man thrives on CONTROVERSY.

  92. #107 Joe
We are talking about sata because he is the subject of this discussion. Not because of who you perceive him to be. You sound like one of his disgrantled political hooligans!!

  93. Joe No 107, please dont let some pipo on this blog to commit suicide. Of course what you have said is very true, but as you know truth hurts, some pipo may decide to end their lives. Now seriously, I think President Sata is just doing his job. If he sees that there is something wrong with the process he really cant just go with it like that. Those of you who are saying it was an afterthought are wrong. The man had to be there to have an informed vision. But he is not stupid to just accept just because a ‘cc’ has been agreed upon, there is need to analyse. Though Sata may not as educated there is enough evidence to show that his analysis of issues is much better that some of those seen as educated people. This is what irks his adversaries. This is the beauty of democracy. Going by some of the contributions on this blog, it appears we will need ‘The Cobra’ for a long time to come. long live, Sata, long live LPM, long live FTJ, long live KK, long live HH, long live all!!

  94. Hey guys for sometime now i had not seen FTJ on tv. Yesterday I drove into Lusaka and watched news on MUVI TV. Guess what, there was an item on FTJ. he was addressing this huge crowd of pipo who from all over who went to show solidarity with him. He talked about the economy including mines etc. The guy can talk. He is gifted when it comes to talking. You just like him when hear him talk. I tried hard to think about all the accusations against him, it is just difficult to reconcile. It was this phase he is going through had come to an end. Kanshi elo yatampa. Kalikosa ka mudala. Anyway I wish him well.

  95. Born Rich No.108, Sorry I scratched your heart. But as Chip No.110 said, truth hurts. There is little i can do about your view of the man. I will not call you a political hooligan lest readers fail to discern who is… if they review our arguments. It would be reasonable for you to just say why think he does not fit in my description of the man, or why you think I am lying. I am not a member of any political party but I admire some politicians and I vote and of course I voted to PF. Sorry that it pains you, but fact is fact. There are many other items put on this blog for discussion but few attract comments of well over 100, as pipo would not want to waste time on what is not important. But here we are discussing President Sata’s point of view. Be real and come to terms with reality!

  96. “Sata planned to embarrass Levy”, I am sure most right thinking people know that this was a retrogressive plan.No need to support his ill conceived plans.

#111, FTJ is Ok health wise,He only feigns illness when its court time. One would be right to conclude that he has NO credible defense to put up hence his strategy to use any means that will save him from getting to court.

  97. Joe, #112. Truth hurts those who are in the business of spreading falsehood. Let me also lecture you on the other aspect of Truth which you mind has failed to grasp; “Truth has nothing to do with numbers”

Sata’s popularity is not the subject here. Such subjects are usually discussed at political rallies. And being a great leader has nothing to do with the number of people you are able to influence. BUT It has everything to do with HOW YOU INFLUENCE THEM. That is what i am trying to make you understand. You need to be lectured on the difference between “fame” and “greatness”.

The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) reported in 1998 that the world’s 225 richest people now have a combined wealth of $1 trillion. That’s equal to the combined annual income of the world’s 2.5 billion poorests people.

What comes to your mind when you read such statistics?

  98. #110,112 have missed the point in this story about Sata trying to advance himself at a ‘Launch’. Its got nothing to do with what you perceive as his super popularity. The issue is his lack of principles in agreeing to what the group stands for and then 2 days later changing his position. Do you see that? Saturday, ‘ZCID is great’. Tuesday, ‘ZCID is terrible because its led by Kalumba’.

The reality is he has no problem with Kalumba leading, all he wanted was to address the meeting as though he was campaigning. Its cheap lack of Nationalism.

  99. Ba Hey115# dont mislead the nation. Kalumba is the problem here he must go he should not be allowed a inche next to our next coffers. If he was a responsible leader he would have agreed to be a state witness. Who lacks nationalism Sata or KAKA. Whose interest you we protect if not our interest. Europe has built a wall fence along the atlantic and meditterean sea just protect their nations from illegal immigrants what is all this is not national interest and security. America is doing the same, they have moved the berlin wall to the borders of mec´xico. They are busy discussing Illegal Immigrant Bill. What is wrong to defend our nation. The difference between KAKA is he was helping taking money outside Zambia why as Sata he has invested in Zambia even creating jobs. Sad he never became Minister of Labour may he still give this position.

  100. #105 bola panshi, men like you easily lapse into comatose because of heart failure and shock.Take time to to see what Mwansa Pintu is alluding to.The point in summary is simple, you cant trust authority into anyone who has cases before the courts its plain imoral.Have you ever heard of a guy called Paul Wolf from World Bank?Where is he today with all his sacks of global credentials? Ever head of Lord Browne from BP?Where is he today with his global credentials?Ever heard of Lord Levy in the UK?where is he with his credentials? Ba Paparazzi as you name entails do use emotions to make informed decisions be calm , wise and above all use your great intellect to understand what one is trying to write and identify. On this blog we are able to understand Easy’s contribution no matter what syllabus stress he is trying to use, we still pick points. To me you sound like one with sour grapes.Relax mwaice Paparazzi fyamucalo fyaisa na bantu fikashala na bantu.Go back to the script of Mwansa Pintu

  101. Easy #116, Sata knew kalumba was chaiman when he was at the saturday meeting. That was the right time to raise it had he thought it was an issue. At that time he was ok with it.
Like me, you wouldn’t have kalumba as chairman, Sata on the other hand DOES/DID NOT have a problem with that appontment or is it election.
If you look at the subject above, we are discussing Sata’s position NOT Kalumbas. I would advise you re-read it and you will discover that, Satas main problem is NOT being asked to address. Kalumba’s positon is just a lalabyhe is using

  102. kuku# man of wisdow and creative and good reasoning, I give a something above excellence -1 this is a good mark. You are well informed and you are following the events of this world. Yes Lord Browne a Gay who gave force evidence in court it costed him his job. Oh ya FTJ and Ms Regina Mwanza, oops I mean Paul wolf and his girlfriend he is no more at the world bank that was a scandal. More interest a fresh case Judge Black who spent $20 000 for the birthday party of his wife he has lost his job, oh no yet I mean there is other guy who is also a judge who sued for his lost trousers. Nomba ifwe we want to keep Kalumba pantu why. Zambians wake up you are all illigible to take up such positions, so long your records are free. 119# Hey you know very well that Justice Chomba chaired the meeting on saturday not Kalumba. No, the problem is having someone who has cases to be disposed in court as a chairman. Hey do you understand the word chairman? This personal can delegate you know.

  103. Mr Born Rich No.114 “BUT It has everything to do with HOW YOU INFLUENCE THEM”. I agree with you, if you influence them wrongly, they would certainly make you kiss the dust. But if you do so in the right manner they would give you support. Fact:LPM was ‘popular’ in rural areas and he made it in those areas. Fact:Sata was ‘popular’ in urban areas and he made it in those areas. Fact:It is easy to bribe people in rural areas because poverty is much more endemic there. Research has showed this fact.

Now the issue is Sata pulling out of ZCID. If you attend a meeting and agree on some issues it does not mean you should not have the freedom to disagree on other issues you think may not be correct. So Sata is exercising his right period. If you chose to disagree with him it is your right to do, remember you are in a democracy. His stand point may only be appreciated at a later stage. For now all of us are free to give our opinion on the issue.

  104. Follow Sata at your own peril. The Man has a reasonable sense but untrustworthy. You cant hide with SATA. The man is always up to something and is very SELFISH in nature

  105. Moment what did you in rural areas are more poor than in urban areas. Your research is very wrong and incorrect. How do you measure poverty? Being able to have a meal or the amount of wealth one owns. If the later applies then rural dwellers are much far better. They have land, they own their own houses, some have cattle. In town most of are just renting for accomodation. You need to strive hard if you are living in a town. Please do proper analysis before you make a posting here. Not everyone is driving in the cities.

  106. I would be the first to laugh if I learn that SATA is for the Constitution. SATA is snake. He knows that, he stands no chance to win next election if the 50+ clause is amended.. He can do well in the primaries but can lose hands down on the secondaries, and he would want to avoid that. The statistic now stands that, SATA would favour the current cosntitution for his use when he comes to power under simple majority.
No matter how sweet his words, try to see beyond his words and watch his action. SATA can engage his mouth and brain with no intention to be held accountable.
Let the Constitution be amended, enacted or whatever which will Zedian together. Play with SATA, then you know you are inviting ANARCHIST AND to an extent fragmentation to our country.

  107. The analysis in Zambia shows that, outside Lusaka and CB. Southern province has the best developed sustainable economy and towns. Provicial HQ’s Kasama, mansa, Mongu, Chipata, Kabwe and Solwezi can easily be compared to any of the Major Southern towns in Mazabuka, Monze, Choma and Kalomo, not mentioning L/Stone. I used to hear a lot about Mpika till I went there to find that it is not any bigger or better than Pemba , Sinazongwe , Namwala or Zimba.
We shall be setting up an indigenous Kumusanza Development Committe to spearhead development of our Region. We intend to work with the govt of the day, Donors and our own pooled resources. Be on a lookout for a forum to be advertised.kumusanza, Kulimenda abila, Kunona mbuli buchi amukupa.

  108. Factors determing Poverty are:
    .precarious livelihoods
    .excluded locations
    .physical limitations
    .gender relationships
    .in social relationships
    .lack of security
    .abuse by those in power
    .disempowering institutions
    .limited capabilities, and
    .weak community organisations.
This is according to the World Bank Research Programme.
For me poverty goes even beyond if you a gay or lesian and you have disabilities prohibiting you to have chíldren then you are poor. There is also spiritual poverty which has devasticated mankind in more. Remember what ever we do on this earth we require popi who maybe our immediate family members, friends, workermates, foreign help the list long. You can have the money if you not people are around you you are poor exactly happened to famous leader FTJ. He was complaining that he his friends left him alone. Even VJ also said the same thing. There is phrase which states ” Wise King doesnt kill all his slaves”

  110. Born Rich have you seen what Iam have said in 127# what have got to say. 126#Buumba is collect Southern Province have been feeding Zambia as for most of the years its only that in recently years it has been affected with draughts. Sugar is coming from south. If you to Kabwe rural you find most farmers are Tongas who move chief Chamukas area. In Mpika most farms are owned by Tongas. You its not oka to say that life is rural areas is miserable compared to our towns. Despite no rural development programmes sinc SIDO- Small Industry Development Organisation and Cooperatives died the remote areas have been neglected. The roads have not been taken care of, the electricification has never taken place but people have survived and continued living. If Sata was to go in rural areas like where he was born and develop these areas definately no matter how arrogant he is people would have give him a vote.

  111. #80 Paparazzi, kwena wali major muli ‘copy and paste’. bring your own ideas, mwati iwe ulofwa? awee mwe?

HH and Sata are the only opposition parties with many MPs. So their actions are welcome and not those opposition parties with only 6 family members ati we want to be part of ZCID launching.

  112. Iwe chi Dr HK naubelema pali iyi story tulekufwaya ju doctors conrner, your fellow doctors are busy sharing knowledge, iwe uli busy nama politics, come on switch camp, ifi tafikwete incito go and talk about UTH’s misery

  113. Sata is a seasoned Politician who understands politics more than most kids on this blog. Take a look at the politicians running ZCID like Newton Nguni. Mr Nguni is hungry for the per diem 300k allowances given out AT EVERY ZCID board meeting. Don’t trust hungry men & women.

ZCID and MMD are colluding to commit constitutional fraud so that they forestall certain clauses seeing the eye of the constitution. One of those is the 50% requirement for Presidential elections.

  114. Dont worry True Z come 2011 all those making constitution they are doing it for us they wont test leadership. We are taking over.
