Levy hails Chinese investment

Share

Mwanawasa in ChinaPresident Levy Mwanawasa has hailed Chinese investment in Zambia and called on Zambians to appreciate what China was doing in the country.

Mr Mwanawasa said the Chinese have set a good example in their country and they believed in workable investments which cannot be compared to countries that were speaking against China.

President Mwanawasa was speaking this morning at Ndola International Airport enroute
to Chambeshi Mine in Kalulushi by road.

ZANIS reports that the President said the Chinese investment was compared to non
except Japan and that no one should demean China.

He said he wished Zambia could come to a level of even one of what Chinese achieved
in economic development.

The President said he wondered why the western countries were making an issue of
China’s development and wanting to treat African countries like adulterers to
receive instructions from them.

He said governments of Africa were mature enough to choose what was good to its people.

He said United Kingdom was a good example that imported a lot from China in the past
quarter last year.

  1. we are not against china’s investiment in zambia, but please ba LPM take time to make sure that the chung cha u r praising so much respect your people.because if workers or the ordinary zambian is not going to benefit from the investiment, then the difference is the same(theres no difference).so much as u praise the chinese investiment LPM make sure also that our people dont go underground with slipers(tropicals) or are paid insulting salaries.

  2. Ba Zambia leading 2-0, But playing useless footbal which look like chipantenete pante..Goerge Lwandamina seem to have no tactical approach

  3. We won 2-0 but this Dr.HK has no solidarity to anything Zambian I think he has over stayed in diaspora and he has lost the reality. My dear what matter most in football is not how play but the number of goals you score. Well Mr. LPM as much as Zambia has found a market in china we asking thru yr office the following:1. Better condition of service and satey for the workers. Please visit also the burial place of those young couragous Zambians who died two years ago. 2. Pilz increase taxes on minerals you can do bench marks with other nations that have such natural resources. Remember that these companies are not private owned but GRZ china so we want a real 50-50 chances of profiting from the business deals.

  4. Chipante pante win 2 nil against Uruguay thats fine by me. Well done Zambia.

Not all of us share the same sentiments as HK so viva Zambia.. Chipolopolo..

  5. Easy, Dr. HK tatasha. What matters is the number of goals you score. Actually, Zambia played well no wonder they won the game. Bushe iwe HK pali ifyo ukatasha. Uushitasha mwana wandoshi. Suppose the boys lost, what would you have said about them. Limbi tawaishiba nokuteya sojo apoli iwe. Uletasha!Let us encourage the boys as they go to the next round. VIVA Zambia U-20, we are all behind you. Uletipo shani Easy? ba Joze mwaliluba, muletipo shani pali Dr.HK tatasha.

  6. Iwe #2 HK,where you watching the game or bachilakushimikila fye. That was a classic display and Zambia was firmly in control.Congratulations lads and wishing you all the best because you`ve made us proud.

  7. oh i dont watch football either!! But I used to sometime back, tho im not like that Dr HK who supports homosexuals and lesbians coupled with abortion. He seems to have lost his bearings and started to think like a white ***. He should come back to the real zedian senses and realize that zambian culture condems homo sexuality and those found to be will drink with us. For their place is of great torment. He must have lost his virginity which most of us have kept till we go to chimbokaila. Men it makes me fear for the prisons!!

  8. Well done Under 20 football team. We need all kind of investment in Zambia but of course, it has to be logical. Let the private sector take over so that the government can concentrate on servicing the debt we owe the outside world.

  9. # 10 the private sector has taken over the bus industry in zambian and i must say i enjoyed my trips to the copperbelt by bus. Akale kwali eagle bus service only for the rich as it was pretty expensive, but we got it now. The thing is, lets try to do something with the airways aswell. Actually, we should even think of introducing some tram cars on five routes, 1. the the airport(on great east road) 2. to the lusaka west 3. to ngwerere 4. to makeni..chilanga 5. chilenje..town..matero
These are strategic destinations I have pointed out and I will soon be applying for project approval with the ministry of transport of lpm. He once talked of the chilenje one but i dont know now whether its in operation. We dont need a big engine that disturbs pipo sleeping in kabwata extension. Electrical trams are a solution. hope Sisala will quickly supply us with some electricity, its a modern world!!!may be we can go trolybus!!

  10. RUFGWA page 1″Thou shall not sleep with your fellow man, for thou shall have woman as your helper. Zambians shall detest you and will castigate you otherwise”

  11. KUKU na Easy, bushe namubelenga mu Post ilishilu lilelanda ati “whether my family likes it or not, I will marry my niece”. Bushe lubangula lulebomba elo Zed kupwa. Let Dr. HK comment on this pantu limbi kuti asapota ilishilu. Muletipo shani bena Easy na Kuku? I know this is not the topic at hand, but such kind of people deter development and investments in any country with such kind of thinking.

  12. #11 titus, When I say let the private sector particfipate I do not mean in transport circles alone. That is just but one of the areas of concern where we need private sector involvement.

  13. Zambian whiz kids stun Uruguay this how the commentator expressed the win Zambia registered. This is good for the boys. We need to support them especially that they played with 10 men this disturbs the system the coach intended to play. I have played football myself and I now what it means to play with one less it even becomes more difficult. Over Chingongo and Ngambo family for me they seem not Zambian, they are a disgrace to the nation, the family and everyone. In Germany there is an on going care of two persons who are sisters and brothers who decided to marry and have children. They have four children all disabled and handicapped. The social welfare took away the 3 children they couple couldnt manage to look after them. The man was give a two years sentences. The problem we have is we lawyers who support such things in the name of justice, equal rights, free sexaul orientation and gender. All this is just misuse and abuse of human rights. Such people are reliable of punishment.

  14. Yes surprisely sicne Wasakasa Nguni Ba Joze stoped contributing was he the same man? I getting concerned everyday. I have enjoyed is Rufqua Book. On the other kuku said Ba Joze was going to join us around 21 hrs but up todate he is nowhere. Where is he? Have heard the news from Kafupi. He is slowly accepting his economy attrocities ati LPM shall face more charges than him Sunday Post 08.07.2007. Jokes aside Zambia needs business partners and the president is right what need to do is to join hands and fight any evil needs of an investor in our country. Its not only the chinese who expliot us the Indians to two remember that kama Servants courter with electricity behind the big house. The salary the house maid is getting. This also among Zambians themselves. The fingers that feed us – I mean the farmers they get peanuts from their labour compared to the western. I hope this one of the Millinenum goals set by UN to eradicate poverty and hunger.

  15. #19 hey, where is kuku na ba Joze? You guys where do you get that book RUFQUA? Can anyone give me the web site of this famous book?

  16. Levy chipuba sana you cann’t be praising these chinese infestors who mistreat our people so bad.

  17. #21 ci bush boy dont insult our president he never praised the chinese for mistreating Zambia. If the want they can leave Zambia go elswhere. You will eating stones. Wise Zambian will talk about how the condition of services can be improved and I think this can well be achieved if we are serious and consquent.

  18. Tombiza #21, the same chinese have invested in UK in companies such as Rover. It was the Last UK wholly owned car manufacturer, but closed down last year. The workers are now happy because they are back to work on better conditions. All this is because the Chinese have to follow the labour laws in UK.
In investment, if you like, what is most important is the ‘value’ not ‘who is investing’.Chinese investment in z will go above 1 billion dollars, this is more important than the fact than it is from china.
Therefore all we need is tighten regulation of their activities, this is exactly what UK etc are doing to benefit from chinese economic boom.

  19. Ba Hey #23. The chinese have invested worldwide. But lets not confuse ourselves with investments we have seen in other (developed) countries.People are complaining because we have wrong chinese investors in Zambia.Give us an example of a very succesful chinese investment in Zambia? And I dont think it wise to get the so called ‘VALUE’ from anywhere.Because even a drug lord from Columbia will pump money into our country and it is VALUE! So lets get good Chinese investors not simple traders.

  20. Mr Zed, where is the dividing line then? ‘Good chinese have invested elsewhere, Wrong ones have invested in Zambia’
My question, if i can rephrase it, is “How do the wrong ones look like?”

Former Thailand president has invested ‘dirty’ money in Manchester city football club, the english are very happy.

  21. Hey,we have been making mistakes because of wanting to compare our situation with what has happened in the UK or USA.Zambia is a very small economy hence the need to do things correctly. We need to be practical.Currently we do not sustain ourselves economically.Tell me which reputable DONOR/INVESTOR would be interested in us if we deal with the wrong people? And it does not take a scientist to identify a wrong investor. The bottom line is to get better deals for the Zambians to benefit not just talking about millions of dollars which a common man cant see.
