President Levy Mwanawasa says opposition Patriotic Front leader Michael Sata is a finished politician and has nothing to offer.
Mr Mwanawasa said he defeated Mr Sata in the 2001 and 2006 presidential and parliamentary elections hands down.
The president said for this reason he refused to be judged by Mr Sata’s standards even if he continues to level negative accusations against him.
Mr Mwanawasa said this on arrival at Livingstone International Airport.
He said allegations made against him by Mr Sata that levies collected from markets
go to State House should be dismissed by Zambians people because they lack
credibility and only aim to discredit him and his economic achievements.
For once Levy has spoken the truth. I held Sata in high esteem at one point because of his tenacity to tackle issues. However, some of his comments really leave me with no choice but to say he is a “political clown”.How can he support overloading of vehicles? Render support for Mugabe a tyrant? Stone age politics has no room for the modern day Zambia. We do not need noise makers in the political fora.We need action-oriented and innovative young chaps to handle the mantle of developing our country. He is too full of bickering and wants to get his all the time. Awe, twakana nomba ba shikulu Ba Sata. Checks and balances are ok, yes, but yours are just too empty.
This is a cat and mouse game, levy and Sata game just like HK and Ba Joze game…lol
another kind of this is Chapi and Kadansa game where they want to kill each other ….like levy and Micheal
KC you ought to get your facts right. Comrade Robert Mugabe is the most educated President on the continent with 17 degrees. 7 of those degrees he studied for them and 10 are honorary degrees. When did he became a tyrant? Whether you it or not come 2011 power is changing hands and this is the fear LPM has.
Time is the best teacher. To some of us who have known ba Sata closely from the early 80s like KK’s wise counsel we know that the old man is a natural misfit for plot one. He is an imposter on leadership with indisputable capacity to rape and inflame the country into irreconcilable factions. His disposition is void of any leadership trait worth reflecting on. Its time PF went for a convention to redeem itself. Otherwise, it’s another sinking titanic. Frictional and malicious politics can’t do in this age of enlightenment. Where are the young Turks and pragmatists in his ranks to buy his lifeless politics?
oho yasanda, Mr. president please let lying dogs sleep. Popi will hold you account of your words. Remember the their is a court ruling that that 2001 election were mauled with unfairness and tricks. The court ruled uphold peace in the country otherwise they are null. Mr.Sata pilz you too try to desist from making statements which can make you look adamant and bring you down. This details we want to no just talking put them before the task force and ACC. Stop talking too much in the media but take this issues before the authorties if you have evidence
Mwanawasa you did not won Sata in last years’ election. Mwanga will confess one day how he helped you. Ok fine, you are the head of state so for you to comment anyhow tells people that you are not fit. Be like FTJ who was keeping queuit on some issues. You are just making Sata popular in Livingstone were he did not do well. VJ tell the nation now that you are out of office you job sicker..
Sata is just another political opportunist. Sata is another person I see to be selfish. If it wasn’t for LPM, all the thieves were going to be walking the streets of Zed freely. Look at Chungu Xavierio, he said if Sata wins, he was going to be in the next flight back home to celebrate the victory and stay. In short, Sata is a thug, LPM is not. LPM don’t indulge yourself into arguments with a panga man. Unless you are a thug as well.
Levy, please emulate FTJ. He never respodend to nonsense. As for you, you always respond to citizen because you are guilt on how you found yourself in state house. You were not elected, you just stole the election. So prove to the world that despite stealing, you can still do a better job of which you are failing. very soon your term gonna be overand you will start fighting for a third term.
#4 Ba Truly Zambian, muletesha first before you cheat yourself. I have not touched on the subject of education. If Gabriel is that educated, then he should apply it more professionally when dealing with the economy and opposition in Zim. I don’t care how educated he is but to me he is just one other old dog not even worth a pinch of salt. If he is your uncle, then deal with the fact that he is just a scared old man whose bones have run out of meat.
Ba KC, how honestly can you call Mugabe a tyrant? Get to know the facts behind Zimbabwes economic downfall. Its a smear campaign by the west to make Mugabe look bad to his people. It is very difficult for an African Country to survive without aid from the western world. This man is being persecuted for demanding what is due to the Zimbabweans according to the Lancaster agreement of 1979
Sata being a political clown that we have known him to be, will never rule Zambia. He is a person that needs to be directed all the time. He has no leadership qualities whatsoever.I find it strange that some of our colleagues have true faith in his leadership. The only good thing he has done is to support President Mugabe. The man always talks about the toilet!!!! What sort of a person is he?
#11 Not that ba Ian SA punishment for send soldiers for DR Congo and controlling the richest mines in Zaire. Thát why ZIM must pay heavily. Did you listen to news since yester the island sinking in water. Due to floods most of England has not electrictiy and many people have to be evacuated. The last time this happened was in 1847 before exploaration of Africa which later followed Berlin conference. So you how important is this land issue in britons. They what the troubles.
Ian, first of all, Mugabe used the land issue mostly to get re-elected. When the West went against him, he’s chose to turn the issue into a personal battle he’s trying to win at great cost Zimbabwe. He’s using excessive force to suppress democratic expression in Zimbabwe. So why do you deny he’s a tyrant? In this case the majority of Zimbabweans probably agree with the West that he should leave. This old man should negotiate an exit strategy instead of listening too much to bad advice from Kenneth Kaunda, Thabo Mbeki and others.
KC thank you for acalling a spade a spade. Bob is just following KK’s foot steps. KK was a tyrant so is Bob. The support Bob gets from african leaders is not bases on governace. If based on some how telling the west that africa can deal with its own problems. No one questions wether Bob and Zim should poses the land. What we question are methods of getting that done. Mogan is considered an out cast because he is considerd a traitor. He is in bed woth the same people who colonised us. Bob is using the same tactics that didnt work for KK when dealing with the opposition.
Who defeated who during the 2006 elections ? lets assume that in all constituencies where parliamentary elections were nullified by the courts that, corruption was exhibited the presidential elections were also nullified. what would be the implication ? can the wise men articulate please
African leaders just need a bullet in their head for them to leave office.
#11,12 Ian, who transformed most of the ministries in your government and which politician has come out to tell the people that we need decent accommodation etc? If Mugabe is not a tyrant, how would you describe his rule?
#13 Easy, you are racist and a nationalist.
#14 Francis & #15 SAGE, hope you have read Annan’s statement on Zimbabwe whilst he is in RSA,this is what he had to say: “Former U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan described the situation in Zimbabwe as intolerable on Sunday, and criticized African leaders who cling to power”. “Africans must guard against a pernicious, self-destructive form of racism that unites citizens to rise up and expel tyrannical rulers who are white, but to excuse tyrannical rulers who are black,” he said.
#16Our law is very clear , the Chief Justice takes over for 90 days and sets up a date in the meatime for another general election. So my brother the will never be a vacuum at anyone point,we adequately cartered for.
#18. You are very right, but i think these are some of the contentious issues that require a lot of debate.
KC #1 has raised very valid points about SATA.What should concern LPM is why SATA managed to beat him clean amongst the literate or the urban dwellers in the just ended 2006 elections.I give credit to SATA for being a political genius and raising that kind of euphoria against a sitting President in an African setup.Whoever wishes to go to plot one should take a few lessons from SATA.Any sensible person can not deny the fact that SATA has impacted and changed the political dynamics of our nation.Having said all that,I think it`s time for a fresh brand of leadership that our nation needs for it to move forward. That`s why I wouldn`t be shocked to see a Mazoka type of surprise in the 2011 elections.People will remember that FTJ focused all his energies on stopping FDD from being elected in 2001.Arguably,UPND won those 2001 elections and that`s exactly what I forsee happeninig in 2011 elec.MMD will concentrate on defeating PF but a different party(new) will emerge and carry the day.
Kayata (17) wrote “African leaders just need a bullet in their head for them to leave office”. End Quote
Ba Kayata (17,
Have you ever been in the firing range, worked through bullet riddled bodies in masses, sent in hostile areas for peace intervention, or know what you are asking for there? Those who show fragrance for the sword have higher probability of going by the sword. Death and life is in the tongue. No one gets a snake when he asks for fish or stone when asked for bread. History teaches that Countries that have resorted to bullets as the solution to political differences have locked themselves in endless instability and assassinations. Look at Congo DR from Patrice Lumumba to Kabila, Ghana a country of 57 years in independence. It is until recently that the lost peace is showing up in Ghana. Look at their life and economic losses in spite of having the highest volume of learned people. Do you know that in violence, last bag of food, protective bullet or drop of Gas is for the President and not our ordinary parents or siblings? Do you know that the same bullet you have been soliciting for has no eyes or selective mechanism on who to take? Do you know that that there is rule in staging protective battle for the President, anything in side must take the highest toll? Suppose that toll is a sweep on your entire family would you call count your solicitation as wise? Lastly be advised your song has the potential delivering the same bullet. We are in a crazy world Alibaba. This world has more than enough crazy fanatics without borders. Guide your tongue in wisdom rather than reckless talk what you ask for is surely what you precisely get along the way.
#17 the problem we have with Africa leaders is greedy.Already RG has been endorsed by his MPs as sole candidate for the next tripatite general elections, these people are brainwashed and have put RG’s interest before the entire nation, and this we saw with KK, had those MMD women and men not braved the so called OP pursuits we would have been in the same boot today, cos KK was not going to relinguish power at all costs but was ready to pass it on to Wezi.
Like#21 Has said a bullet has no place in real democracy, the best tool is the ballot box but how trasparent this is still remains a $60m dollar question.Rwanda and DRC are clear examples of what a bullet and greedy can create.
It is so disheartening for some of you to think that there is an automatic correlation between being educated and dispening one’s duties with diligence and consideration. Bob is a worn out tyrant. His time was up 10 years ago.Why should we tolerate such stupidity? Of course, the WEST are justified in withholding aid to Zim. It is their money anyway. If I am going to give you my money, I expect to see a certain amount of accountability. The west have realised that African leaders are drunk with perpetuity and can never hand over power peacefully. Why should they continue waisting their tax payers’ money on such governments? Gentlemen, this is a new era.The land issue.I have no arguments with the redistribution policy. However, it was the implementation that lacks respect.Look at Zim now?Are you people happy?Blame on it the West as much as you can, it will not change anything.Bob has to step down. The colonial wars are over.It is time to build please.
This guy RG is thinking that is still fighting for freedom for his pipo, he can’t see that its time for new generation to take control from where he was ten years ago.In Zed we don’t need a bullet to solve endless problems, but we each other for the development of the our country and for the better of our children. Anyway ba Sata nabakula I think the man should leave the pitch for young ones who can do better for development of the country not ifya ma beef bakwata na LPM. LPM and MS why should you be pointing fingers and not advising each other?
Its not the duty of the west to feed zimbabwe gentlemen, africa should understand that its not outsiders job to feed it. We have enougfh rain to grow our own food. The problem is proliferation of outside lifestyles that have blinded us to think we suffering when we are only living according to what we have managed to produce. so lets make our clothes from the clothe we have.
Thank you # 8, 11? Sata should come to terms with himself! Sata is old now, let him retire and take over “ubufumu” at his village. we need young people to lead us. who should we nominate as our next president….! ba sata bena iyoo!
We need to nominate young intellengent men who can push Zed forward not like ka FTJ when we say forward, to him is backward.
Sata: A bus never ever gets overloaded!
Zedians you like talking without saying anything. How can you have a crop of only young and inexeperienced people run the affairs of the nation. We need the wisdom of our elders. Ba shikulu ba Mikaili kuti twaba bofyako mu chachacha campaign. Abasungu bapwisha imingondi yesu. It`s time we emulated Mugabe.
You guys, leave Sata alone. At least he is making LPM to be on his toes at the moment. Let Sata stop what he is doing as soon as another opponent in the field of opposition is identified. If he stops now, a gap will be felt. There will be no one to torment LPM in every day today duties.
Gaulani (30),
Where on earth could that happen in opportunistic power politics? Can’t you see Sata belaboring to consolidate his position for a predetermined Presidential outcome from their 6 year delayed convention? He senses the depth of acquisition in his ranks but will never shift power till the manifestation of another imminent 2011 defeat. I wish we all debated from a point of realism than an insulated mind to truth. You can only come up with result oriented strategies if you acknowledge your challenges at hand rather than self deceit and unfounded comfort. Ever wondered why the so called civil society is vainly scrambling for a monolithic opposition structure ignoring ideological gaps? UCZ and the catholic have just realized and already broken the ranks with Oasis Forum ending the marriage of convenience with some denunciations. The more Oasis condones Given Lubinda and Musa Mwenya’s PF political errands and allegiance, expect Oasis forum to be in a self engineered acceleration mode to Calvary. If you are close to their party structure, I recommend you consider giving a candid advice for a paradigm shift.
Sometimes it is wealth having pipo like Sata who can challange Levy’s govt. Sata has done alot of good things when he was a minister. pipo were killed by vehicles and trains when trying to cross around kamwala and printpark zed ltd. By then Sata was governor of lsk. He initiated the two over bridges kafue and kabwe roundabouts in lsk. pipo said this will fail and called him names. lusaka became the cleanest city during his reign. min of Health improved, transport, medicine, cleaness and the morale was high.He maybe old but more intelligent than some of us young ones.We can come up with good policies but if we can’t implement them, then we need pipo who can help to implement and it is pipo like Sata.copper is doing well on market but we can’t see any change on the ground. Economic improvement indicators on papers is like telling your son who is starving that you have food when you can’t feed him.
Pipo are still living in extreme poverty when billions are lying idle in bank. What a gov
Iwe KC mwaice leave King cobra alone.Ulapepa ichamba chamupepi nateka farm. Ulepepako ichamba chakwitonte kwa namwenya ukushuma lubanga umfwa mwaice.Ba Levy when he hears the name of sata,he shudders and start panicing. It is interesting to see big men like Sata and Levy throwing punchings in thin air. well nai zanda. Truth pains 2011 we will know how Levy and vj used to dribble other policians during elections. aaaaaaaaaaah shushushu on you.
Pragmatist you are just another person from unknown planet who can’t swallow well whenever you hear sata’s name. Leave Sata alone Chuchu muwelewele fears Sata and if he had ways of eliminating him, he would have done so. He has tried to put him in jail and being harassed by police officers but they have failed to break sata into. All these make Sata more determined to expose chuchu. Shushushus even tell Sata what they are planning to do bcoz they like him.Muwelewele will see red after 2011 so what may. For your information pragmatist you will be the first to abondoned chuchu as VJ did to chiluba.Chuchu is an opportunist 2001 he promised pipo with a constitution that will be pipo ‘s driven when in power he forgot what he promised. 2006 before elections the same. What has he built since he came into power that will be remembered as chuchu’s achievement? None at all. Troting the globe asking for loans.contributing to globe warming. Economy doing welll where on papers and not on ground.aah
Pragmatist stop smoking ifyamba walapena mwaice. Bushe baSata finshi bakucita? Your fear is making you panicing. Do you dream King cobra chasing you every night.Take it easy.
Sata is just a charlatan and heretic, If he was in the army the only suitable rank would be a drill sageant. This man has no depth or analytical skills.
He has the same traits like Emperor bokassa and Idi Amin Dada.
He has no qualities of a Statae President
Big mind speak of ideas and cheap mind speak about people and events. Typical of Zambian politics. I have never heard President Mbeki say bad things about opposition leaders. He speaks of ideas and development.
King Cobra needs to be there to keep the current crop of leaders in check. Some of his utterances are off the mark but he knows the intricacies of the rulership. We should make sure he stays in opposition (but please don’t let him get to plot one). In any case, I am sure the last elections were his last chance and I want to see whether PF will stay strong after their next convention.
CHEAP POLITICS. LET MWANAWASA BE A BIG MAN AND AVOID CHEAP GOSSIP AND HEARSAY. BIG MEN DO NOT SPAEKA ABOUT PEOPLE BUT DEVELOPMENT.
Ba Chocha mitanda (34) & Kapotwe (35),
FYI, I have never ever smoked or tasted alcoholic beverages in my life and will never do so in the remaining years. That aside, it is my natural instinct to lay issues bear from a very collected mind. You may be insulated from truth and keen to hear wishful rhetoric only empirically void of winning mileage at your own expense of strategic planning, I will never engage in flattery when all is reflective. Sata has no national leadership disposition but an inclination of violence and his spirit of hatred driven on self denial and opportunism. I say all this not out of hatred for the old man but I can’t help but express a certain amount of disdain on his careerist politics not befitting the time. I have more idealistic tendency to stay true to certain principles regardless of their perceived lack of popularity among the diverse partisan bloggers. Your wishful vision of saying Ba Sata in plot one at his drowning age of 70 plus doesn’t necessarily mean that I would be subject to whatever the bigoted whim du jour happens to believe. Sober up because it is certainly possible to continue providing ourselves just and principled leadership even when the impulses of the electorate are not so just and principled. Ba Sata has been too bitter and opportunistic in his life from UNIP to MMD and now PF. His political treks have been on non principles, ideology or moral gaps. He supported UNIP as a socialist to the last minute when he renounced it at the Kabwata rally addressed by LPM. In MMD, I don’t know if his leadership in the Panga slashing militia on the anti third term crusaders is a principle to you? Anyway, I digress to nail it all. Good luck as you hold your Sata in Plot one dream. Peace
At 72? where was he when others in their potential age were competing for the presidency? The older you go, the lower your thinking and retention capacity. To make matters worse, Sata is a smoking chimney whose lungs are scheduled to irreparably fail by October 28,2009 while his kidney will rapture within the same year for his life of excessive bear drinking and womanizing. Three wives at 69 has been a self added detriment no one shares the responsibility. World over Countries are making radical changes from the era the too old to use Madalas.
You see kayata the advocate of bullet shots in disputes I have spotted here. Violence does not pay. Now who loses in the CU fiasco? Is it Government or those Chibuku sponsored dizzy kids? Priorities are very important in life. Thank God I have my 2 degrees all put to good use now.
COPPERBELT UNIVERSITY CLOSED
THE Copperbelt University has been closed prematurely because of violent student protests and worsening lecturers’ strike.University registrar Allan Ilunga announced its closure in Kitwe yesterday.Mr Ilunga said the events of the last 10 days had created an unconducive environment for academic activities and also putting life and property at risk.“The special meeting of the Senate sitting on Monday, July 23, 2007, at the Vice-Chancellor’s residence resolved that due to the prevailing situation on the campus, the end of term two be brought forward to today (yesterday),†Mr Ilunga said in a statement.Students yesterday fought running battles with the police who fired teargas canisters to disperse them. Several students including children in were choked by the teargas smoke. Some children in the nearby township were rushed to clinics after being choked by the teargas police released to disperse the protesting students.Police sources said some students beat three police officers after they ran out of the teargas canisters and could not use firearms to repel the violent students.“Three of our colleagues were attacked and beaten up by the students. They ran out of the teargas canisters but we dispersed them after some of our colleagues from other stations came in.In the process, we arrested a good number of students,†the police source said. The students blocked the nearby Jumbo Drive with logs and stones while others threw stones at passing vehicles.A check at the campus crew found police officers manning the gates. Copperbelt University Students Union president Lee Mudenda said the students were protesting because of the ongoing go-slow by lecturers.“We have not been attending lessons for two weeks, which is unhealthy. We are losing out on time.We are calling on these people to resolve their problems because we are being affected,†he said.
Leave Sata alone. He is a man of action. Ba LPM niba Cabbage. Moneni ifyo imigoti yalasanswa naba China people almost without eyes, brain for people’s living! Go on Sata. Shaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaame!!!!!!!1
Ba Sata bena iyooo!!!He speaks wildly not sensibly and he is NOT presidential material.Sata stop behaving like a thug
Ba Sata bena iyooo!!!He speaks wildly not sensibly and he is NOT presidential material.
All those people who think Sata is better than Levy are mistaken. I know Levy is not the best of Presidents but he is at least better than Sata. Surely we all what kind of a tyranny Sata is. He is not even in power and you see how he behaves. What more given the Presidency. He could be worse than Mugabe.
it is truly amazing how much energy has been expended in discussing King Cobra!!
Bati bakolwe basekene ifipato. Chuchu, we can’t see the difference between u and Sata. You are equal finished cabbage which is getting withered by each day, u re not even fit to be the presdo of this nation, u imposed yourself on us by stealing the votes from the late Mazoka (MHSIP) and u again manipulated 2006 elections, using sickly Mwaanga (poor him).
Batila bakolwe basekene ifipato chachine. Chuchu, we can’t see the difference between u and Sata. You are equal finished cabbage, which is getting withered by each day, u re not even fit to be the presdo of this nation, u imposed yourself on us by stealing the votes from the late Mazoka (MHSIP) and u again manipulated 2006 elections, using sickly Mwaanga (poor him).
Not this old spoiled man again,he still has unfinished business with the Ministry of Education, let him get done with some skool then maybe then he can talk about being president wapa zed
Ba AM(48+49), if you cannot see the difference between LPM and Cobra please pass through Medicare for an eye test. You may want to consider the facility after Mumana Resort for a second opinion. If the president insulted you personally imagine what your reaction would be…but you are quite comfortable to hurl derogratory terms at him.Not liking him is fine… but insults are totally uncalled for and a misuse of the freedom this blog has accorded you.Even as we disagree with FTJ,KK or even each other, let us be mature about it so that our views are given the attention they may deserve.
AM 48 + 49
It would be in your favour to tone down your language.
I am still around, have you forgotten so soon…
My patience with your foul language is wearing thin , I cant restrain my selfany longer.
I may be forced to enter the ring and stand in the opposite corner.
Mind your language
Pragmatist ni ndoshi iyineyine. Nomba alefwaya ukulowa sata.
When chipimo went ku mporokoso to settle and following “go back to the land” he fabricated a story ati batina imitundu ukubateka. nomba mporokoso is it not part of zambia? Pragmatist umufimbila wakwe made me to lose money elo naele kuma order. So Kuku, AM,chapi, msana wandalama plz out iT AND DONT GIVE A CHANCE TO KOSWE to start talking from blues.
#53 Jose who can bewitch Sata
When you look at Sata, his grey teeth, brown hair, red eyes ,wrinles on the forehead and permanent scowl on his face remind one of a typical caricature used in the dark arts.
Jose muleiminina ngomwaume, noti ifyakobola.
Pragmatist ku chimfyanya fwe nankwe ku mano
# 54 ka citizen
iwe ka citizen upepa vyamba te? Am warnining pipo iwe ati ndeobola. am a fighter thru out the seasons. plz wimbala elo napwile one fight yachi arabic.
#52 Ci Citizen ukalipo, I thought u re late. Citizen na iwe mu #51 grow up pls. Read my contributions again in #48 or#49 there are no insults like your #54 where u have describe Sata the way u see him, that does not mean u are insulting him. Bakolwe basekene ifipato is not an insult, if u dont get it ask Ba Jose to translate for u. Chuchu had said Sata is finished and I have also said Chuchu is finished as Sata, is that an insult? To tell u the truth I dont see any difference between two, thats why I said Bakolwe basekene ifipato. Ulenashako ukudokwa nakabalika sana.
Iwe kuku what are doing in Main Masala I thought you are there for sanity. How can this happen in your presence ” four-year-old boy died in Masala township after consuming kachasu, an illicit alcohol given to him by three teenagers” You are failing to manage the community. These are the things which will disqualify to rule us. Look the two are fight each other to the bittest end. Kuku where the data from SCZ? Can you as well give Data who are the nommitted members of Manda Hill. Why is Mulyata nilling down when greeting LPM? I knowy Findley you have arrested him good job, but when are going to charge of those who have plundered the nation for years like Mpondela. Can you give an answer why. Why do you lecturers have a tendency of going on a go slow to undermine the students. Do this institution the same ? Pass the ruling of Chief justice Sakala who the 2001 elections.
Ba Joze peace stop fight
Chuchu, ulecindika abakalamba. Tawaishiba ati ba Sata is the next Village headman mwa Chitulika ku Mpika? Bumwine mushi bwa ba sata bwacifyalilwa, not you LPM after stealing the votes. You will never be a headman, unless you go and dribble those villagers in chibombo.
Eyeeee!!! Tata Muzungu anikonda uyu Mulyata, acita tuchawa, he was kneeling down ‘mulufukuti’ when greeting Chuchu aletina umulandu acita ‘GBM Sage’.
Ba AM(60), i’m sure you agree with me “hero worshipping” is a sad state of affairs. When grown men start grovelling like this you know we have a problem.Tony Blair was always Gordon Browns boss but NEVER did he grovel( at least not in public). Twasebana kwena. This practise must be stopped….it is so embarrassing for the electorate to see and for a president to accept.I normally support LPM in alot of things but this I cannot.
We have a problem I told Kalumba has been doing the same. Is it LPM who is a problem or his followers. After committing a mistake they want to start worshiping him. I think Mulyata is a the problem here. I hope if found guilty he must be fired. The problem is Sata has complicated everything by saying there is no problem by overloading.
Mulyata must grovel for now if the GBM case is to pass in his favour. So far things appear clear, especially because, officially the opposition do NOT see overloading as an offense as far as buses are concerned, they contend that only planes have the capacity to overload.
Easy(62), the problem is LPM…how can he condone such shameful behaviour towards the office of the president? He must tell off Mulyata publicly that such bootlicking stunts have no place in a maturing democracy like ours!!If a minister exhibits such behaviour imagine what signals it sends out…..i for one think ” wamuyaya syndrome resurfaces again !!” I am so disappointed with LPM and his protocol officers who allowed this to happen.
Ba Easy+ Hey, please add the “overloading ” issue to my list on the other thread on why Cobra is the man for Zambia.
Pundit, It takes little observation to note that Mr Satas opposition is misdirected. If an issue is straight forward like Mulyata’s corruption, Sata chooses to support it so as to appear different. Any sane politician would want to condemn Mulyatas actions save for those whose guiding principle is purposeless opposition.
#20 Chapi Sata is just an opportunist and he wanted all costs to head of state. Now you are forgetting that Zambia is composed of urban and remote area. Stop belittling the pipo in villages. As far as I know Zambia is a free democratic country. Villagers are also Zambians no wonder SATA has not done anything viable in rural areas because he has a home dwelling mentality. I believe even you Chapi you are were you because your papa was a puppet in KK era and managed to give you a education and not thinking about Malole where he was born. We are in a democratic all we need to do is to educate the security wing what their role is in such a setup. The Zambian governance divided into 3 and one of is the judiciary. So if the police cannot enforce the law then the problem is in the hands. Like in the case of Mulyata and GBM all they needed to was to serve the druve with a penalty which was to pay in two weeks.
No. 8 GLUCO, I just want to let you know that the fact that Xavier has never said he was going to come back once Sata took over. It was simply a fabrication meant to portray Sata as a thief. This I know, and it is true. The all interview purported to have been given by this man was just a bluff designed to decampaign Sata. I am not an admirer or supporter of Sata. But this is a fact. The sad part of it is that there is a lot of lying even the Zambia media no matter how you “trust” some of these media out lets. Yes I will tell you that they say some truth, but when they want things to come out the way they want them, they lie knowing that you will all believe them. Like it or not, the all story was a fabrication. Time will show this.
Kuku can shed more light on this who is to problem? Zambian Defence Minister Michael Mabenga has lost his job and been stripped of his parliamentary seat after the Supreme Court annulled his election victory. Mr Mwanawasa’s party have a narrow majority
The Supreme Court in Zambia delivered its final judgements on two cases outstanding from the country’s controversial presidential and general elections nearly two years ago.
After the elections in December 2001, which brought current President Levy Mwanawasa to power, the opposition launched a series of legal challenges to the results of both the presidential and parliamentary polls. Today’s verdict was a major blow to Mr Mwanawasa’s ruling Movement for Multi-party Democracy [MMD] party.
The court upheld the complaints of the runner-up, Sikota Wina, of the opposition United Party for National Development [UPND].
ctd..’Broke the law’
The judges ruled that Michael Mabenga broke the law when he used government money and vehicles while campaigning for the Mulobezi seat in Western Province. When delivering their ruling, the judges recommended that what they called appropriate action be taken by the authorities on the misuse by Mr Mabenga of $6,000 earmarked for the people of Mulobezi. The judges said this misuse amounted to theft.A disappointed-looking Mr Mabenga, who drove away from the courtroom to the boos of a delighted UPND crowd, was not the only ruling party MP to be booted out of parliament.
The courts also ruled that the Mpika Central seat in the north of Zambia was not won fair and square.
Distressed
The MMD has brushed off what the opposition describes as a bad news day for the ruling party.Spokesperson Aka Mbikusita-Lewanika says the party is not exactly happy, but neither is it overly distressed, because, even with the losses, the MMD still has a majority in parliament. Having won three out of the last four by-elections, it has three more seats than the opposition. But today’s court rulings mean yet another round of by-elections over the next few weeks.
And with four seats now vacant the MMD’s slim majority is once again up for grabs.
CB, remember Sata made an amnesty for all plunderers which was going to be effective the day he goes to plot 1. So the Xavier story is Not based on ‘the interview’ alone, but Mr Satas own pronouncements.
Zambia gets ‘tough on corruption and gays’
November 17, 2003
The Times of Zambia reported recently that while vice-President Nevers Mumba was addressing a group of journalism students on corruption and freedom of the press, he also encouraged the church to stand against “unbiblical practises”. The Times, in an article called “Security Wings Free to Probe, Arrest Mabenga” on November 6, 2003 reported that vice-President Nevers Mumba said that the security wings are at liberty to probe and arrest former Mulobezi member of Parliament Michael Mabenga for alleged misuse of K29.8 million Constituency Development Funds (CDF). Dr Mumba who was addressing 14 trainee journalists at the Post Newspaper office in Lusaka, said this in response to a question as to why even after a Supreme Court ruling that the office of Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) should prosecute Mr Mabenga, no such action had been taken.”If there is any case, the security wings are at liberty to investigate ….
Mr Mabenga for anything he has done wrong. Just like President Mwanawasa has said, there are no sacred cows in the fight against corruption,” he said. According to the report, on the operations of the media in the country, Dr Mumba expressed Government’s commitment in ensuring that the media operated freely and without interference. He called on the journalism fraternity to maintain high standards in their operations and avoid sensational writing as this could land them in problems. Despite this ethical stand, however, he also saw fit to condemn the consecration of American gay Anglican bishop, Gene Robinson. He called on the Anglican Church in Zambia and throughout the African continent to stand against such practices because they are unbiblical.
Just like President Mwanawasa has said, there are no sacred cows in the fight against corruption. Why? no prosecution took place.
election results 2001: Levy MWANAWASA elected president; percent of vote – Levy MWANAWASA 29%, Anderson MAZOKA 27%, Christon TEMBO 13%, Tilyenji KAUNDA 10%, Godfrey MIYANDA 8%, Benjamin MWILA 5%, Michael SATA 3%, other 5%
So can this explain that the 2001 elections were
fraudulent and hon Levy is part of the problem. The big question is can we really trust our judicial system in cases like these ones where there cases to answer but remain short of reaching pipo’s expectation.

Munshweba fwebo, A BIG AMEN TO YOUR COMMENT, IT IS THE ANSWER TO THIS TOPIC OF DISCUSSION.
Sata never talks trash when he is in power! sata is one fella who would go to extremes to please his boss (man in charge). now that is not part of the LPM list of VIP’s….. the old man is talking trash? He had his time and I am glad that the majority of the people feel the same…of course with the exception of ba joze, kuku ( the pabwaato crew).
It is sad to see pipo argue about Zimbabwe without due consideration of how the leadership have managed to destroy once a flourishing economy witin a space of 7-10 years.Zimbabwe used to greatly depend on Agriculture for it’s livelihood, forex and all, inshort its economy was dependent on AGRICULTURE.Between 1998-2002 Mugabe started the land empowerment exercise,l personally agree he should have done this coz Zimbabwe is for Zimbabweans and not foreigners. However it was the manner in which it was done such that most of the productive land got occupied by ZANPF cadres who do not do anything but drink beer and slaughter the animals left by the white farmers. The farmers are now in Zambia and other neighbouring countries. While this was happening, the west also came in to protect their own nationals and by so doing imposing the harsh economic measures….and that is why today the money which could buy a house 15 years ago can only buy a loaf bread!!!!.
As for ba Sata l think maybe he was misquoted by the Post,l really did not believe my eyes when l read what was attributed to him.How can he support overloading. Two wrongs will never make a right. We do understand the economy is not doing well, but are we going to allow whosoever is in transport industry to overload and meet their targets.GOD FORBID!!!Maybe some have forgotten about the Kawambwa tragedy, basically it was a result of overloading…now can the “all wise King Cobra” tell us whether that was a right thing for the driver to do.Overloading is part of a cycle that ends with more road traffic accidents.
My prayer is that the opposition can give us something more than just opposing coz actually now we are made to think we could have landed ourselves in more trouble had Mr Sata won the last year’s elections.
mwanawasa probably wont even make it to 2011 with his health.that would be a blessing for zambia anyway
