New Coal mine to open in Sinazomngwe

Sinazongwe’s new Kanzinze coal mine has pledged to spend K3.8 billion Kwacha in the ongoing exploration said the Director of the company Richwell Siamunene.

Mr. Siamunene said in Sinazongwe that Kanzize coal mining limited is a local company run Small Scale mine by Zambians and was currently conducting preliminary assessment of the economical potential of coal in the area.

“The drill programme has already commenced along 2.5 km strike length of coal deposit and about 2500 metres in the 40 drill hole has already been done,” Mr Siamunene said.

He said in the next three months the company would have a full data base of the coal minerals in the area.
Mr. Siamunene who also the losing Independent candidate in the last years tripartite elections thanked government for its economic achievement which seen a reduction in interest rates to 19 percent, inflation rate, and the improved Gross Domestic Product (DGP) to 5.5 percent.

He disclosed that though Kanzize coal mine has not resumed production, the company managed to donate K2, 000,000 towards the hosting of Lwiindi ceremony.
He urged young people to participate in traditional ceremonies to ensure its continuity when the elderly people’s time would be over.
