Zambia national soccer team striker Collins Mbesuma has joined Turkish top-flight team Bursaspor for an undisclosed fee on a 3-year deal.
The deal ends an unsuccessful two-year stay at English Premier League club Portsmouth whom he joined in the 2005-2006 season from South African giants Kaizer Chiefs.
“Am happy to have completed my transfer to this club and its time for me to play football now, so wait and see” Mbesuma told Bursaspor’s official website, that confirmed the Zambia strikers transfer.
The move will see Mbesuma mark another milestone for Zambian football players playing professionally abroad.
Mbesuma is the first Zambian player to play in the Turkish top-flight after earlier making history with another first in the English Premier League in its current format.
This will be Mbesuma’s third European team in a space of two seasons after playing at Maritimo on loan from Portsmouth last season.
Bursaspor are one of Turkeys youngest clubs and were formed in 1963 but have never won the league.
They’ve been relegated once in 2004 after 41 years in the Turkish top-flight before rbeing promoted in the last campaign and this season finished in 10th place last season.
Bursaspor’s only honor to date was a Turkish Cup triumph in 1986 and has been runners-up in the same competition in 1971, 1974 and 1992.

Congratulations, go and prove yourself. From the story above, ukaye mukushaina kabili nimumakula. Remember to close your zip.. Otherwise you are going as a passenger and will come back as cargo. Umwana bamufunda pakuya. Your good behaviour will make our Zambian flag to fly higher than the Muchinga mountain.
Chimwaiche chiMbesuma chalikwata ichikuku nomutima usuma sana..Nomba he has to learn to utilize his skills and maximise on his retirement package pantu imyaka yabbola nakadisiplini . Mwaiche wandi, try to learn to work more than average mwaiche.. Bad publicity centered on unprofessional conduct will push you to the fringes.
Bushe bane Ku Turkey kwaliba bola, i think this is the end of chitumbuwa ?
If he moved to one of the top 4 clubs, it would have been better. Galatasaray, Fenerbahce, Besiktas or Trabzonspor are the top clubs in Turkey. Bola ku Turkey eko yaba. Turkey finished third at the world cup in korea and they have a lot of players in big clubs in Europe especially in Germany. However mbesuma will get a culture shock and the fans in turkey are very demanding and at the same time are not afriad of attacking players. Anyway i look forward to watching Mbesuma as I can pick the Turkish TV channels from where I live. By the way Roberto Carlos(Brazilian) Appiah (Ghanian) are all in Turkey now. Daniel Amokachi, Jay Jay Okocha. Uche Okechuku (Nigeria), plus some Danish international players played there too. Money is there too. The fans in Turkey are really crazy about football and not to mention their women who are really a beauty.
The league in Turkey kicks off on 12/08-2007 with Mbesuma and Bursaspor playing away to Denizlispor. Anyway this spor thing could mean sports club or football club, cause many clubs in Turkey end with this spor thing. Hope they do not change Mbesuma’s name to Mbesumaspor (joke)
I know that Mbesuma has skills to make it, all that is required is a Coach to believe in him & give him the support.
I saw him play in Luanshya and @ Kaizer Chiefs & i can assure you that given enough support, the boy has potential to explode.
He should show that he has the skills. he has had chances and he is got another. This time no excuses, he should just do it, failure will tantamount to luck of talent. 35 goals in SA is not enough, UCAR scored 107 in ZED and at that time. Let Mbesuma prove it to us, no more no less
Mbesuma start some serious business now or otherwise???
It is always good to see that this young can finally put his fit on the ground. He needs to settle and play football.
Turkey is not a bad destination at all. There is soccer and money in this country.
He should have actually started from there and progress to the English Premiership.
Congrats Mbesuma and all the best for future
i hope this mbesuma can just try to despline himself coz if not,the turkey fans will take him by air.
we will support you.go mwaice!!!!!
UCar und his 11 goals in Kenya
# 7 you spot on Mbesuma has lot of potential.Given enough game time and a coach that believes in him Collins can go back to his best. His former coach Ted Dumitra at K.Chiefs believed in him and thats how this boy rose to prominence by scoring 35 goals.
Like him or hate him this boy has natural talent and many goals in him.
One can see these things when the boy is playing.Let him be just disciplined let this chance at Bursaspor be a chance to bigger things to come.
