New Chinese mining company coming

Share

A major Chinese mining company, Zhonghui Mining Industry, Zambia Limited is to be established on the Copperbelt province.

This came to light today when a Chinese delegation comprising officials from the Export-import Bank of China (Exim) and Zhonghui mining group, paid a courtesy call on the Vice President, Rupiah Banda at his office.

Mr. Banda said government is happy with the coming of Zhonghui Guohua Industrial Group Company Limited.

He said Zambia and China has for a long time shared warm relations, adding that government would ensure that these relations grew even stronger.

Mr. Banda said the coming of the new mining company emanates from the visit of President Levy Mwanawasa to the China-Africa Summit and the reciprocal visit of Chinese President Hu Jintao last year.

And Exim bank Executive Vice President, Liu Liange said China’s cooperation with Zambia and the African continent was based on mutual friendship.

Mr. Liange, who is the Chinese delegation leader, said Exim bank was interested in advancing China’s economic policy in Africa.

The meeting was attended by Minister of Mines and Mineral Development, Kalombo Mwansa, Minister of Energy and Water Development, Kenneth Konga, Minister for Presidential Affairs, Cecil Holmes and Bank of Zambia Deputy Governor, Denny Kalyalya among others.

  1. The war we are going to fight with china, I feel sorry for children. Are we blind or what. There’s a limit to everything guys.

  2. Dear lord! not again. china will soon take over zed and we will be fighting with them like the tibetans are.
Who authorises these things? feel for the locals please, not how you will make your pocket fatter.
MORE OF THE COMMON MAN WILL BE EXPLOITED. WHAT A PITY.

  3. First of all I feel sorry for ‘Njoka’ Njoka zikasila mu Zed because of aba ba choncholi. Now imwe ba Mines minister are you telling me you can’t see the pattern unfolding with these Chinese people ? Just how desperate are you in bringing these aliens to Zambia ? All the news pa Zed is Chinese Chinese, Chinese, Chinese, Chinese, Chinese …..are you blind !?What is so special about them that you sleep Chinese, You eat Chinese,You dream Chinese, you walk Chinese, You drink Chinese, You go toilet Chinese, You watch Chinese. Its Chinese Chinese Chinese everywhere Chinese.Very soon we shall have Ministry Of Chinese affairs.Guys there is a limit to everything !

  4. Hi Zambia,

Another sad day in the Zambian nightmare, a Chinease company to benefit from the abundant mineral wealth our God has given us.

The Chinease are best known for cheap labour and pathetic labour conditions. This has not yet been addressed with the current Chinease investers. It would be nice to make this agreement public so that we can have a look at what ‘our’ Government terms and expectations from the Chinease are, do they include strict adherance to labour laws and human conditions of service?

Its Better to be a foreigner than a Zambian- its sad, you are most likely to have a better deal if you are foreign than when you are a citizen. Its depressing!

  5. In Choma, pipo complained about Chinese Poverty wages, In Chambishi not long ago workers fought battles for there salaries!! should I join politics in order to bring sanity to our mine????? gentlemen, lets not spoil the country bcoz this will affect our grand children.
Not Chinese for inveters!! No Again!!!

  6. MADE IN CHINA…..MMD has not spine to demand labor and environmental compliance from the Chinese coz they are just too tied to the chinese.

While business is good, Zambia does not have enough legal regulation to demand the chinese to pay fair taxes, and pay fair wages to Zambians.

Even when MMD leaves office in 2011, the chinese will stay in Zambia, they will quickly switch sides to the new government…They can’t leave zambia..they are still stuck up in Sudan Oil despite genocide in Durfar…

Another sell out of Zambia by MMD…Please invite them but make then responsible investors too by labor and environmental regulation.

    COME ON PEOPLE….

  7. COUNTRY MEN,messasage for the chinese guys coming here in the name of investing, believe me the day mwanawasa leaves office, run for your dear life, and the thing is your investment wiil be lost and your life will be lost.don`t think we shall sit and watch all this bullshit going on,so its up to you people, its not a threat its a promise.

  8. I am not against Chinese investment but i think they should be a limit. How are we supposed to develop ourselves if you cant even have a Zambian company mine on the new mine. Whats the problem. God helps those who help themselves. If at least a Zambian company was given this mine so they can mine the minerals on that mine. Anyways, lets not forget. The people watched as the greedy chiefs sold them to slave traders. The people watched as greedy chiefs gave away the land to Cecil Rhodes and once again the people are watching as the land is given to the Chinese. How many liberation struggles must be there. Must my children and Grandchildren fight for independence in what is going to be

  9. cont…
The New Northern Rhodesia. Thank God for Democracy. because next election, MMD should not even bother participating in the General Election because they are going to lose badly.

  10. Awe twanaka bushe kwena chiluba alituletelela kwisa tupela mofye chinese cabbage and Zambian garbage of all the chinese…It’s high time this came to stop….

  11. The all world is singing the china song, we can not do away with china at the moment, they bought the rover company from the british and move most of the machinary to china, more than 80% of britain and america`s imports come from china.
The manufacturing industry in britai and america are dead coz of china and these are the two strongest economies in the world, but now the are singing the china song who are we,zad, to turn away the chinese.
As things are you are either with them or left out, geoge bush and gorden brown have been to chine to look for investors, wake up zambians and accept the changing world or we all die.

  12. Its times like these I wish Sata was President even for a moment! We have extremes in the leadership: one that is so pro-foreign at the expense of Zambians. Another seems to be pro-Zambian but was part of the plundering regime and should not be aspiring for Presidency if they had any sense of morality. So we are caught between two devils. Where is the clean pro-Zambian focused leader going to come from? May God give us a generation leadership change in 2011.Otherwise we are doomed!I have never come across a leadership with such a high of level of inferiority complex. Foreign investment is welcome but please it has take care of the needs of Zambians first. Bushe mumwitwe shenu mwebafinshi?

  13. Since the end of the hideous Opium War, a period of humiliation and the eventual rise of Lordism in China, the world has seen a Country in restoration and on the move with determination. With a population passionate for their country,Chinese scholars and officials barged to the then popular forces of the Tongzhi Restoration a Chinese Self-Strengthening Movement. The world is just seeing a self modernizing China with an Open Door Policy that has been carried out since the late 1970’s initiated by the then Deng Xiaoping who took over from Chairman Mao’s.The USA uses its multilateral corporations to perpetuates its imperialistic causes while Europe still in a cultural shock of failed colonialism.

  14. Levy don’t sell Zambia to Chinese. These people are selfish.Zambians are not benefiting from these Chinese. They pay themselves well while mis-using local people.Open your eyes and don’t be short sighted.Make sure local people won’t be affected by what your Government is doing now.We read about much nonsense happening at Chambishi mine, but you’re turning a blind eye on such serious matters!!!!!!!!!! Hey,be a wise president.

  15. Jb,
Seeing that Zambia is a Christian nation and about 70-80% of the population is Christian, then you must be familiar with these stories. Don’t forget, David fought Goliath and won. Jesus, a poor man, gave up his life and died on the cross and changed the world. Im sure you know about the countless kings in the Bible that where defeated by poor men. Martin Luther King Jr. took on the whole USA government. Nelson Mandela fought the powerful Aparthied regime. Ghandi, a poor man, made the British government cry and stop their colonialism with just a few words. Maybe Zambia, a poor nation will change the way the world sees Africa.

  16. This is real China infestation not only in Zambia but globally.Chinazation of Africa is due to the controls of IMF. LPM is getting better deals from China than Europe and the IMF.

  17. Gentlemen for those of you who follow the world eceonomical trends china is an emerging world power. She is the guy with money and in 10 yrs to come she gonna dominate and control the world economy. For your own information USA owes china trillions of dollars. Everyone is looking to china and no world power will compete with them. They have what it takes to dominate the world economy. DONT GET ME WRONG IAM NOT SUPPORTING CHINESE INVESTMENT IN ZAMBIA because china has no regards for human rights and they are naturally abusive.Currently they are constucting the largest dam in the world and majority of the workers get less than $1 per hour. so what are the chances thatthey can do better pa Zed

  18. # 18

Zambians wake up and read the world reports.China is not coming to Zambia only ,they are coming to take Africa and the whole world. We shall soon have mixed chinese/zambain, so that there will be no one zambia one nation, but one zambia one chinese
Think about what chinses strategy is all about.

  19. But guys i just cant sleep on this. Did you know that 80% of Zambia’s exports that goes to China is in raw materials. Now they are over mining our land. We all remember what happened when the European and American markets didnt need our copper anymore. People started starving, the mines started working at low capacity, the “foreign” investors got on the first plane to Europe and the country went through the fastest decline ever seen in History (well now theses Zimbabwe but you know what i mean). What do you think will happen when the Chinese no longer need our Copper. Worst, what will happen when our copper runs out. We need to think about our Grandchildren.

  20. If the Chinese, improve working conditions, pay a good wage, then i have no problems with them. But with every complain i see in the news its always a problem after another when it comes to Chinese investors. Why is this so??? We have to be careful people. Instead of sticking to a raw material economy, lets build an economy that has its base on science, technology and education because like this, i fear with what is going to become of my beautiful country.

  21. If chinese wants to invest ,thay must turn the raw materials like copper into finished products in zambia ,which in turn will turn more jobs for zambians. We have to have a manufacturing base ,her all zambian participate.

  22. I fully agree with “Crazy_Zambian” and “x-say”,China will be the most powerful nation in the future, let us make good use of these investors,we need their technology, capital and education to develop our own.Don’t complain too much, we should face the reality.why we couldn’t make our investment in China just like British and American’s did? if we have ability, we can set our own mining company in China? why we couldn’t? it need all to think about it.

  23. Those of u complaining about Chinese investment.Pliz tell me how many Chinese companies r operating in Zambia.u r creating an impression that Zambia has been taken over by the Chinese.
The Govt went to China,Nigeria,USA,India,UK,Japan to solicit 4 investments & the Chinese have responded now wats the big deal.No zambian has been stopped to own a mine none.
    Wat kind of a pipo r u?
Ryt now the Govt z looking 4 a partner in Maamba Coal mine globally & if the Chinese respond u start complaining.Govt has not stopped anybody

  24. Remember, when Chiluba was about to go, he sold all the houses and companies and now just becouse Mwanawasa is about to go he is selling the remainings just to satisfy their pockets forgeting about the future of their country. A few months we were reading in papers how workers are being treated in Sinazongwe by the Chinese but stll welcoming them in the country, nowonder thats why there is no step taken in Sinazongwe. When are we going to be free in our own mother Zambia? Brothers and sisters, we have seen what type of leaders we have, now when we vote in 2011 pls let us vote wisely.

  25. Chuchu and chinese have same demons like KK had with India!! Only God will deliver us from this demons possesed chuchu/chinese saga thro pray.

  26. Imwe guys abana LPM Chinese coloured in ZED ni disastor. These things will take up the entire ZED. Don`t you have not even a bit of sense of protecting your country. Please okey just for your future grand children to enjoy these God given natural resources. Twapapata abena Levy nawi swisha icibi naimwe. it`s like dead dog on the street and every fly is just flying all over it. No control. State who should invest and not. DON`T YOU KNOW THAT ZED HAS WHAT THE WORLD WANTS MOST AT THE MOMENT.NATURAL RESOURCES. GOD HELP ZED

  27. Well said #24.You have just woke me up from slumber.I’m an MCL ex-emply in SA, a victim of FTJ, SATA, etc privatisation failure. We zedians are our won enermies. This Zed eduacted us for free, some of us.We sit comfortable in foriegn land, our zed is slowly being taken over, not that we cannot do anything. We can.Lets invest back home, buy houses, land, companies, etc.yet we complain when chinese take over, lets look no further but ourselves, pipo back home can’t financially, we know that. What can I do for zed? Thats what we should be asking ourselves.Lets investment forums and invest back home …. any more ideas.

  28. #23 TECHNOLOGY, CAPITAL AND EDUCATION YES BUT NOT LABOUR ABUSE, DISRESPECT FOR ENVIRONMENTAL LAWS,COOKS AND TRADERS,DISREPSECT FOR HUMANITY AND MYSTERIOUS MASSIVE DEATHS LIKE THE CHAMBISH DISASTER. MIND YOU TECHONOLOGY IS NOT FROM CHINA ALONE. BY THE WAY TAKE TOUR OF ZAMBIA AND SEE FOR YOURSELF HOW THEY HAVE CUT DOWN YOUR TREES.

  30. you know. It seems to me that the only president that was thinking was KK. He practically gave jobs to every Zambian, even in the midst of Zambia’s great depression. How KK gave Zambians jobs was he industrialized Zambia. You can go to Ndola to see the industries that have closed down. The only mistake KK made was that he NATIONALIZED everything. But still he industrialized the country and that gave jobs. Did you know that in 1998 unemployment was at 20% then in 2000 it shot up to 50% and now it is estimated to be around 60% to 80%. All because we rely on a raw material kind of economy instead of an industrialized economy. My Dad used to tell me that when you go to Ndola, even without

  31. cont…
qualifications, you can manage to get a factory job. We used to assemble TV’s and Radios. We used to assemble high quality Bicycles. We also used to assemble high quality cars. We used to manufacture our own batteries. Now today Zambians cant even manufacture a razor blade. Lets move away from raw material economies, they have proven to fail badly. Lets go into an industrialized economy. You can see South Africa is industrialized and they have Africa’s most powerful economy. Lets industrialize Zambia.

  32. Now tel me one name, or a group of Zambians who want or have capital or have successfully negotiated a loan to own a mine or open a new one. If there is non, tell me who is stopping them. If u dont hav an answer to that, plz know that Zambia’s development need not wait another decade, we welcome an investor into Zed. Anglo America pulled out leaving us very disadvantaged despite having profited from the mines for over 100 yrs! It is nothing but business, not assistance. So let us meet them in a business like manner. We have capable Zambians who can talk business and safeguard our country’s interests. Dont exhibit xenophobia due to ignorance! We need investors from anywher to develop, period!

  33. Typical Zambians poor and racist! China doesn’t really need us nor are they obligated to come and invest in Zambia, we need China’s investment. Such massive instments are good boosts that can jumpstart an ailing economy. In fact this will creat jobs for young Zambians and promote business in the manufacturing industry which is good for economics development. People visit your economics and you will discover that most countries that have reached the third stage of development have benefited alot from foreign direct investment (FDI). It might sound like a bad idea however the good far much out wieghs the bad. In the long run, Zambians will benefit. So don’t bad mouth a country that…..

  34. #24 WANZELU AND #36Mwnangwa are trying to open the average Zambian blind eye.
The Chinese have the fastest growing economy in the world. They can build a city with sky scrapers less than 10years. They are hard workers, they are the largest exporters, and importers. Plus they dislike lazyness.
Zambia will benefit more from China than from the E.U or America.
We need them to help us be an industriouse nation. What minerals we have burried in the ground havent helped us over the past years. But since they came, they have created jobs for the illitrates, brought in machinery and equipment for us, and now are helping us build and develop where our gov’t failed miserably.

  35. …has taken a mutual interest in developing our economy. For other companies to come and invest in Zambia there must be some level of confidence in the economy generated from that have invested in our country. Very soon it will be gold rush, companies wanting to do business in Zambia. That should be the ultimate goal for our country. China is an emerging economic power and we need some of their big companies showing confidence in our economy. So let us embress this development with both arms and establish laws that will make sure Zambian workers are not exploited or displaced but should benefit as a result.

  36. #37
I can explain to you why Zambian companies cannot invest in mines. It is simply because of the economic environment the Government has created. While Foreign investors get 5 years tax free, and major tax incentives like importing machinery at a major tax break, Zambian companies are heavily taxed upon being open for business. Zambian companies do not even get huge tax breaks and not forgetting the high interest rates and uncertainty in the inflation rate. This has all discouraged Zambian companies from rooting up. While shoprite and Spar get 5 years tax free making them lower there prices and bringing about unfair competition. Mellisa gets taxed immediately it opens its doors to the

  37. …to the public. While Shoprite can get loans from a South African bank at low interest rates. Mellisa cannot even get a loan because it cannot afford to simply because the interest rates are too high and there is uncertainty in the currency. Why do you think the Chinese have opened so many shops. It is simple actually, get the raw materials, make something and sell it back to them at double the price. Now im not against Chinese investment, infact i welcome it. Im just against inhuman working conditions, pitiful wages and working in places that are deemed hazardous to human life. If they could only fix this problem, then we are good to go.

  38. I agree with Crazy_Zambian. They are many countries out there that have developed without any form of the raw material market. Japan is a good example, they started by making bicycles, today they are making cars. Zambia could have some of the highest quality forms of resources at the lowest cost simply because everything we need is found within our continent. All we need to do is believe we can do it and work at it. Why must we import machinery, cant we make our own machinery. If we work at it, we can definitely do it. Mauritius is a country that is moving forward technologically, why cant we. What is stopping us. What happened to the industries that used to cater for every Zambian.

  39. Lets welcome Chinese investment yes. But lets also address working conditions. Why would HP want to invest in Zambia when it finds out 3 quarters of the country gets K400,000-K500,000. We all saw what happened to Zimbabwe, it relied too much on its raw material economy. Take away raw materials and what do you get, 80% unemployment, 100,000% inflation, high interest rates.

  40. Guys, let the Chinese come, the its our govt who has work to do by putting the house in oreder. There should be workable legislation on minimum wages. Never blame the Chinese blame your labour ministry

  41. All the big economies, Gordon Brown had been to China and India recently to woo support for Chinese to invest in the UK. But the diffrence is that in developed countries they are really strict with minimum wages and conditions of service. That is what we must address as Zambians

  42. After further analysis, i have come to the conclusion that we should not blame the Chinese but rather welcome them. We should however blame the govt for not explaining minimum wage, working conditions and other necessary things. The govt are the people we should be rioting to not the Chinese. Lets be realistic, the economy is growing thanks to the Chinese.

  43. If you feel the Chinese are taking up most space in towns, you have an option to go rural. There is plenty of land in Serenje. Ba Chinese welcome. We wish you could even double in number

  44. soon we will have chinatown in every town and city to add on to bombay-Kamawala and Bombay-Kanini. Soon majority businesses will have chinese signs . chinese specialize in buying businesess in every street and inderectly chasing away other business owners.

Soon, we will have have sleeping zambians join the war veterans to battle the chinese.

  45. I thank all of u for a good debate and understanding. Did u know that China was once serious humiliated by japan with serious human right abuse including mass rape before the end of 2nd world war? Did u know that China’s economic improvement are mostly attributed to investment by the very detested Japanese? Did u know that upto date a visit by Japanese leaders to the war memorial shrine provokes anger through out China including leaders? If it was posible for China to do without Japan, that is exactly what they would love, but they had to swallow their pride, accept Japanese investment and move on to expand their business by investing in friendly Africa! We know we cant do it, welcome them!

  46. Now lets us also ask ourselves why the cherished western investors r not yet flocking to Zed. The western media has chosen to keep reporting about wars, famine, bad governance (Mugabe as axis of evil)and poor infrastructure as the only things that happen in Africa, thereby scaring away all investors! No matter how had u wish, Americans, EU, etc wont be here anytime soon. The only thing that will bring them here is China after it is demonstrated that things can also hapen in Africa, particularly Zed. Britain, our colonial master, knows Zed very well, what is keeping them away to invest? We even speak their language, follow their education system! They stil want us to be recepients of AID!

  47. Now lets us also ask ourselves why the cherished western investors r not yet flocking to Zed. 48. The Chinese hav seen opportunities in Africa instead of wars and misery! They report positive things to their people about opportunities in Africa! They r putting their money where westerners fear to be too risky. Westerners r jittery about this, so they decide to indoctrinate Africans about how evil China is, and that we should wait for them to overcome their fear of Africa to receive investment from them! They can go to hell, we r going to deal with China, learn a lto in the process and renegotiate deals in a mutual way! We cannot afford to wait any longer! I luv China’s coming to demonstrate to the west how a different relationship with Africa can bring prosperity to both Chiana and us!

  49. Stupiti yenu mwe file complainer about china investing in zambia! When the Brits left we ruined our own country cos of ubupupu, backwardness na kusaganiza manje mwayamba kulila and yet the only reason why our debts were written off is cos the copper market has been revived! Why? cos china is the world’s biggest copper-guzzler bamungwingwi imwe! Right now our economy is riding high partly because of them! Wake you lazy punks! Mwajaila kuvutika? Atase! shut upuuu!

  50. Lastly gentlemen, our relationship with the west has lasted over 500 years, begining from missioneries coming, slavery, colonialism, neocolonialism and now WTO still being rejected by Africa as a block! The west will come when we sign up to the WTO which favours them to continue reaping from the inbalance set out by centuries of Africa’s years of exploitation! and when China says I come as a friend, lets talk, we r saying that the issue is too complex for us because we dont know how to negotiate or else we sell our souls! We r afraid of engaging China despite our lessons in dealing with the west! What do we want? Lets blame our govt for any failures, not China! Lets engage them for our benef

  51. I feel for you people, I know first hand what China does to other countries as well as what it does to itself. I have lived in China for 4 years, mark my words they will exploit you and ravage you.

They will take everything you have and then push for even more. Thats the Chinese way.

Its quite obvious your government was bribed for this deal from what I have heard over here, and that is the usual way that Chinese get business overseas especially in Africa. If you people don’t do something FAST you will just be another country ravaged and destroyed by China, and when your kids are beggars or they are killed in a war with China you can only blame yourself for not standing up for your rights.

  52. Furthermore, does Zambia not have enough money itself to launch this operation? Why do you have to sell out to the Chinese and send all the profits straight to China? Why not set it up yourselves, and export the copper or even the ore yourselves? To do otherwise is simply accepting that all you are is low wage workers working for Chinese, you won’t get any other benifet.

I welcome any black Africans to come to China, you can stay in my house, then you can see the way that Chinese treat us over here, they solidly belive that all blacks are bad and are dirty. Its very hard just to rent a house, no Chinese want to rent their house to a black man.

  53. #55&56 AUSSIE ! Get lost cos no one is even remotely interested in your crap comments. Go backpack around the world or something you loser! Furthermore if you hate china so much what are you doing there? Leave us Zambians to it you moron!

  54. Our kids will soon start learning Mandarin in schools as it will be the next business language of the world. We should not stop Chinese investment, instead we should benefit from it. Instead of them getting raw copper from here, we should invest in companies like ZAMEFA to do more than what they are doing now. Currently ZAMEFA is no bigger than a kantemba. The key word is value addition. The3 Chinese desperately want our minerals to feed into their manufacturing industries, why shouldn’t we set up those indistries here? Vote for leaders who can see beyond their pockets. To me I see a great opportunity for us to have a fair deal with the Chinese. They have what we want, we can make them pay!

  55. One aspect that the fools in power are overlooking is the social impact of uncontrolled Chinese migration to Zambia. Has anyone in power studied this yet? How many Chinese chaps are going to get dumped on Zamiba in the guise of investment? If we are going to have the Chinese as investors why not just a handful of quality ones and not a motley bunch of layabouts! No one objects to quality investors – what we object to is the apparent uncontrolled surge in useless aliens!

  56. concerning the one child policy in china, can someone tell me whether these chinese in Zambia still have to abide by that policy or are they free to procreate once out of china?

  57. This is the problem of being ruled by Chuchu and old people with no ideas like Banda who has been committing fornication with a 28 year old teacher whom he calls his wife.

Though the country is in dying need of FDI, lets make sure that we change our domestic investment and labour laws to ensure that our country benefits from these investments. Though the country is busy boasting about the Chinese investments it has attracted so far, the facts before every Zambian is that those investments have not benefitted the local people and the nation( Social and infrastructure wise). Instead, it has brought more suffering due to slave wages which LPM and his fellow thugs are busy protecting.

  58. Continuation #62.If anything, copper is the heart of Zambia and should be given our like this. Does it mean we can`t run the copper mines ourselves?

Instaed of Zambia to be open, it is rather naked

  59. I hope these so caled Mine Investors will really come in to do their contracted business and NOT end up buying from Tanzania and selling at Kamwala. Its a pity when you think of what becomes of these deals.

  60. I think the concern is not just about the chinese coming to Zambia, but the rate at which the mine FDIs to the chines are being taken up. We first need to asses the impact of the current chinese mine campanies before we bring in more and more. Lets take one day at a time. We need studies on how livelihoods of Zambians have improved as result of the chines companies. Also try to involve as many Zambians as possible in the mining investment. Asses the performance and impact, then move on.

  61. Zambian take a leaf from what is happening in Tibet. Chinese have the policy of strategically spreading their population to other countries and in the end colonize those it can. I will not be surprised if Zambia is colonized the second time but this time by the Chinese. Zambians let us say no to Chinese monopoly.

  62. Only Zambian people will save themselves not Levy or Mutati. These guys are agents of imperialism. Crying out against Chinese will not reduce their numbers. Concrete action is needed by all citizens. First, do not mention Levy. Ignore him as he has sold out the nations’ soul. Start agitating for immediate change. The vote will be rigged by OP as they are the opertional wing of Levy’s sick mind.

  63. 23 LUSAKAMAN, 37 BuzzEd and all others supporting the chinese investors, are you too blind to see the neo-colonial trap our country has fallen into?
The Americans, British or Germans have never allowed their economies to be dominated by only one set of foreign investors. Look at Botswana, Namibia or SA too, investment there is balanced. If only these big chinese companies would let a fair share of their huge profits trickle down to the Zambian employees and their families, nobody would cry our like we are doing! It’s not a laughing matter!!!

  64. It is good to hear investors are now flocking into motherland, Zambia like makanta(Locust). This is undoubtedly due to the liberalisation policies initiated by Kafupi in 1991.We can not get credit away from the little one on this one. Even the re-opening of Bwana mkubwa Mine in Ndola, Lumwana Project in Solwezi, Kansanshi mine negotiations started under his reign.
Now the problem is the Chinese infestors so called investors.
We welcome them butfirst of all give them an accepteble threshold for minimum wages to pay to our people. Also ensure their complianc environmental and safety regulations or else thre will be nothing to write home about the investment.

  65. Are the Chinese mining companies the only companies in the whole world to notice that there are minerals in Zambia to invest in?

  66. #55&56 AUSSIE, u’d better get out of here, don’t misled my people here. if you don’t like Chinese, why you stay there?you don’t know Chinese at all.I was stayed China long time,I knew them better that you, so just get out of here.
