A traditional ruler in Mazabuka has advised newly appointed Southern Province Minister, Daniel Munkombwe to serve the people in the Province without any Political biasness if development programmes in the area are to succeed.
Chief Mwanachingwala told Mr Munkombwe during a public meeting held at his palace today that he is a leader of all the people of Southern Province including those from the opposition political parties.
He also advised Mr Munkombwe not to abuse his appointment but ensure he delivers development to all corners of the province.
The Chief further advised the Minister to desist from being emotional but embrace even those that criticize his administration.
Meanwhile, Chief Mwanachingwala has commended President Mwanawasa for appointing Mr Munkombwe as provincial minister.
He said what has excited the traditional ruler is the fact that, the President endorsed the concerns they raised by Chiefs over the appointment of non-Tonga speaking Ministers in the province.
Chief Mwanachingwala also challenged those that were criticising President Mwanawasa for appointing non-Tonga speaking Ministers to come out in the open and support Mr Munkombwe.
He said it is wrong to criticise and fail to appreciate when your concerns have been addressed.
And in responding to the Chief’s advice, Mr Munkombwe commended the Chief for being courageous in advising him.
Mr Munkombwe said since he began his tour, non of the Chiefs has ever taken trouble to advise him without fear.
He promised to work with everybody including the opposition party.
The Minister however said he will differ with the opposition should they frustrate government programmes or insult President Mwanawasa.
Ja! i hope this old man will leave bhind his cader mentality now that he is a minister.
Finally the Lusaka summit has produced zero results. It was a leaders’tea party of 12 hours at Mulungushi. President Mwanawasa initiated the idea without realising the balance of power.Mbeki insults him by doing what levy should have done first before convening the summit. He stops in Harare for a briefing from Bob then he denounces Mwanawasa’s basis of convening the summit “crisis”-Crisis? What Crisis?-Mbeki taults.
“There is no crisis in Zimbabwe,” President Thabo Mbeki announced after a one-hour meeting with embattled Zimbabwean leader Robert Mugabe in Harare yesterday. He told reporters in Harare that the election stalemate was not a crisis and the Zimbabwean Electoral Commission (ZEC) must be given time to release the results of a presidential poll held two weeks ago.
Here at home, the MMD leadership and it’s diehard online activists stays mute and gives no morale booster to their President Levy for the first time. Pragmatist even invests some time articulating that the summit could bruise his HE and SADC heads should not endorse the MT speculations, self declaration as President and his disrespect of Zimbabwe’s electoral laws for hinting that doing so will be building a bad precedence and emboldening other disgrantled political rivarlies in SADC member countries. He says they willbe entering the race, speculate, announce self winners and drump beat in SADC for summits.
Then he asks what would happen had Mazoka and sata behaved in the same way or any future elections opponents against the ruling MMD?
Now my eyes have been fully opened! These MMD leaders and strategists have taken Zambia’s 2011 election as a “must win”.I see vividly why for the first time Pragmatist has publicly opposed his boss on this effort. It is the fear of entangling MMD in a precedence come 2011. Must win elections come with this hence watering down the boss’s moves.I have no doubt he has perfect understanding of the regional politics and dynamics that his articulation builds the momentum but all in the best MMD interest. He is being futuristic while Mbeki gains in regional power with a weak Zimbabwe under a senior regional leader.SA benefits from the Zim skiled labor.Politics is indeed dirty.
Hope this opens the eyes of our oppositions. MMD has designed the 2011 election as a “Must win” be it with Madam Maureen Mwanawasa or some yet to be marketed stamp. Success of Tsvingarai on this crusade against Bob would pin MMD down precedentally in 2011.I see some skilled poliburo traits in this Pragmatist. He even says “dissent is patriotism” typical of political machines.
“…………without any political bias.” Not biasness.
munkombwe is another bootlicker? he has already indicated that he will differ with all those that shall insult LPM? come 2011 i shall take it upon myself to challenge munkombwe enough is enough.
Uyu minister nga taka baze bwino bakalowa ku mfumu!
Bootlicker or not, Munkombwe has never been known to be a power abuser, he has been in these appointments before, he was MCC, Minister of State etc, what does Mwanachingwala mean? He is quite an overzealous cheif like Mpezeni, today he will say he supports HH the next day Levy, the very day Sakwiba, so I take whatever he says with a pinch of salt. Munkombwe has zeal that most ministers do not have, he is rarely in Livingstone, meaning he is in touch with reality.
It is totally wrong to say no development can come from the opposition. Development can come from any person. Wisdom is from God and not from man. Munkombwe you have a very big task in S. province. The province has lagged behind in development. Choma-Niko road should be completed tarring and Niko-Monze road too. Masuku road is bad.Old Sikalongo road should be properly gravelled. It was last graded about 20 years ago, but it was a saviour the time when the bridge before Batoka was washed away by the floods. Sikolongo settlements have not yet obtained their title deeds since 1999 while the newest one have already. What is the problem with the Survey Dept in Livingstone?
Mbeki basically undermined the meeting before it started.Mwanawasa stance was at best meek. Bostwana stood firmly for good governance.
I do not understand why it is wrong for Munkombwe to abuse his position but okay for Mwanawasa to do so. Why are we such silly hypocrites? There must be one yardstick for all national leaders. This is why Zambia will never develop. We are too childish and immature to see the daylight of development.
Mbeki ni imbwa.
Comments about Mbeki above are irrelevant. Munkombwe’s comments have nothing to do with Mbeki.
I was appalled to say the least when I head that the SADC leaders had agreed to side with Rob. I thought that Levy was more head strong and would influence the clique to do the real right thing, but alas! What a shame! No crisis? what are we waiting for, war?
I think that Zimbabweans are too docile. May what they needed is one captain solo, yap!
