Vote for a leader with a vision of free education for all , KK

Share

First Republican President Kenneth Kaunda has called on Zambians to elect a leader who will have a heart for the people and carry on the vision of free education for all Zambians, to take the country to greater heights.

Dr Kaunda  also urged the top leaders in Zimbabwe to use their peace deal and government of unity to help the poor people in that country access adequate food and water unlike the current situation.

He said education was an important aspect of economic development and his government was prompted to introduce free education for all Zambians from primary to university level because after British rule, the country only had 100 university graduates.

Dr Kaunda commended the late president Dr Levy Mwanawasa for re-introducing free education at primary level to enable even vulnerable Zambians gain entry into primary schools and hoped that the next president would carry on with the free education policy.

The former President said this during a media briefing at David Livingstone Safari Lodge and Spar today, organized by the SOS Children’s Village of Zambia Trust.

Dr Kaunda said helping the poor was not a job-seeking strategy but a service to people in need.

Meanwhile, Dr Kaunda has urged the top leadership in Zimbabwe to use the recently formed government of unity to uplift the living standards of poor people and enable them access adequate food and water unlike the current situation.

He implored them to emulate Kenya as it was also a government of national unity and had succeeded in restoring peace after disputed elections.

And SOS Children’s Village of Zambia Trust National Director, Florence Phiri challenged Zambians not to be dependent on donor support but be actively involved in resolving the problem of street kids.

Mrs. Phiri said no one would come from abroad to look after vulnerable children in Zambia because the will and passion to help them had to come from within the country.

She praised the late president Dr Mwanawasa for having a strong passion for vulnerable children countrywide.

Dr Kaunda is in Livingstone to play golf on Sunday September 21st as part of the fundraising activities for the SOS Children’s Village of Zambia Trust.

  1. i have to agree with KK. well spoken…….education is an important tool if we ever going to break the cycle of poverty in our country. it’s a pity though that a number of voters will be influnced by other factors like tribe and the 2kg sugar that they receive every time we have elections

  2. Am sure what we need the most is job creation we have a lot of unemployeed graduates roaming the streets. For eduation a skills based approach is what we need so that even if one ends at grade 7 he/she can be able to contribute to ecconomic development and not become a common jelabo (Jail Boy) or kaponya for the rest of their miserable life

  3. That man he is reffering to is Deepak Patel

Deepak is the best leader this country should have had
Imagine how many Indian and asian investors this country would have had

I magine the tata buses free they were then, imagine business, Deepak has no tribalist blood in him, i dont think he would put more than 20 asian ministers.
We need something different, If USA are trying to get Obama who is a minority in his won country we ought to give and vote Deepak Patel as an independent whn he [resents his manifesto
    Thanks fellow zambians

  4. Unfortunately, we outside the country cannot vote. We are counting on the wisdom of those at home. Zambians please listen to the old man and vote wisely. The choice is yours.

  5. My dad and i met Deepak, and he looked so in control of his vision for this country, what he needs is people out of the radar like us LT readers here , to show him, that we are behind him,

He is a keen reader of LT here and he was happy that a few of us , are here to support him, despite th insanity of some who questions what he stands for
Deepak, please know that we asians, bembas, tonga, nyanja lozy tumbka and 8 provinces are well behind , we need CHANGE and gve us that deepak , you will never walk alone NEVER

  6. Guys lets face the real facts here in morden times there are no such things as free education for all.it will just affect our economy badly. They tried this in Russia and it was not helping.

  7. Hi there!
Ala abo bonse balesabila fye. Vote for Sata and you will see.
Thanks for listening to me. Sensitise in rural areas where Banda is issuing sugar.

  8. the old man has spoken with enough wisdom, please people we are relying on u back home to vote wisely,as some of us are unable to vote in this by election.make the right choice.

  9. # 4 wabepa, its HH, you should be following these issues with all your understanding.

HH is a capitalist Dr kenneth kaunda, hence our votes will mean giving more money in his pockets. its just the position he wants but also more cash in his pocket on top of what he has accumulated from the sale of mines.

  10. Who is this Arafat Patel campaigning for Depak Patel all the time. We dont need him yet let be minister of lands if he wants to help Zambians. I am not against his original but he not the right man for the top job. Kaunda he might be right but the question at what level should this free education be done. Money needs to grow so if we just consume Zambia will be in the 1950s in 10 years because natural resources one day will finish and our income will dwindle also. Free education must be there through forming schemes which people have to pay back after they obtain the jobs. Free education should only be allowed only up to grade 9 after that grants, schemes run by schools backed by government

  11. Developed nations that is what they do. More importatnt are equal chances for all. If a nation has educated people then it can be develop.

  12. In a captalist economy may be free education for those who cannot afford makes some sense.Free education for all can only be dreamed about and used in campaigns. The trouble would be finding the right criteria on who should get a social security identity card amidist all the corruption!!

  13. #11, U complain that KK has not backed anyone – that’s how pipo who want to please every1 does – NON-ALIGNED. u gat to be aligned, rite or wrong. This is where KK gets it wrong. KK’s judgement stopped being workable on november 1, 1990. He had kamalondos who used to tell him ‘the entire C/belt is behind u’, KK wasn’t told HOW FAR BEHIND they were – and KK lost. If Kk failed to get it right for himself, how can we rely on his counsel that it will be OK? Free education, YES, even here in Botswana, govt sponsors every child with 36points to College, University, Student Placement Welfare (MoE) gives them P2000 allowance per month, they will pay back when they start work.

  14. #Arafat Patel,

There is no chance of Dipark ever becoming President. Save your time for more useful stuff. Foreigner in state house? Forget it. Not possible in India, not possible here.

  15. who would admit such a job)))))keep claiming.fili eko tuleya.you failed in zed, what business can you ran in europe.huhuhuhuhuhuh.i ve a better job for u . contact me and earn the euros you dream of

  16. do u know what RB will carry the day and if it happens otherwise it will be an act of GOD.
if you have well traveled in the country, you will certainly agree with me as the current politics are very tribal and in the rural areas where the MMD depends upon people rarely migrate, to the cities unlike inthe cities where pipo do that.
i would not spend my hard earned 200pin to go to C/B and vote for someone who was jsut making empty promises, interestingly the country is very quite

  17. 29-hahahahaahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahah-i feel you the truth hurts.stop that dirty job, better be a stripper you will quickly raise the desired euros .think twice.hahahahaha

  18. we miss the point, there is no free education in the west.we pay high taxes that are channelled to education expenses but that does not mean it’s free.if you calculate the take home pay after taxes, the amount we pay as taxes covers the cost of educating our children.

free eduaction in zambia where will gov get the money from?

all the taxes have been earmarked for emoluments and allowances.

ask the russian students how much the ministry officials get paid for listening to their problems, more than the money needed to solve their problems.

  19. Viva PF!!!
Banda has no plans!!!His records doesn’t show anything good 4 the sake of the country. He worked in variours positions but he has never achieved anything. Therefore u can’t put a person as a president whose past records are still bad.It looks as if u’re putting a fallier to rule our country. In USA past records of a person are very important.

  20. KK has always been for HH – and this free education policy from Primary School to Univesrity level.
With this electing of a Presidential Candidate who has a Party manifesto with full free education policy that KK is talking about, how then MUST Zambians vote for an uneducated-old-man Hon. Sata? We only only need educated man and women like RB and HH to be elected President of the Republic of Zambia. Therefore, I reiterate that this election is between HH and RB only! Viva HH, the Incomign President for Zambia to-be.

  21. #35, in your “putting a fallier to rule our country”, the correct spelling is failure and not fallier, please. Proper education is seen by using proper english language not Bemba-English!

  22. Russia Moscow cheers mate. Viva PF.

Iwe ci #7. There are places in this world well parents do not even know the cost of an exercise book.

  23. #37 There is no such a thing as Bemba English. When it is wrong it is wrong. You can consult the Oxford English Dictionary if you like.
Now coming to the issue at hand, free education is only possible to a certain extent say up to Year 9 or something otherwise our govt can put certain programmes in place to sponsor the gifted ones.

  24. Iwe stanyoko Arafat Patel, get back to your stinking India and take with you your Dipak Patel. Zambia is a black Africa state and must be ruled by a black African.

  25. #43, thanks for everything including your well-thought out ideas. I know Russia-Moscow as a Bemba-oriented characters who uses lessof his head in making comments or statements and hence my writing like that on him.
Anyhow, KK has already said that what is great for Zambia is a government offering free-education from G1 to UNZA/CBU/MULUNGUSHI and public other universities in Zed if there is more now. So, there is no need to dispute people of serious standing like KK in our society. KK told us to vote Mazoka in 2001 and HH in 2006 – and this means he has seen something good for mother Zambia in the UPND manifesto.

  26. What Kaunda said reflect his opinion. It has no bearing on my opinion. The man suppressed democracy with his one party rule. He also retarded the economy with his communist policies.

  27. free education, Where? Come to the UK and see how much parents pay for their kids’ projects at school. Every project parents have to pay certain amount, all the school trips parents have to pay, even when your child play football you have to pay for him to go for training and you call that free education. And that is a developed country. Free education in zambia, dream on.

  28. #45 Just being pendantic here. “lessof” is not an english word. May be French. lol! See how easy it is to do a typo?

Now off with your Ha He Hi!

    Ubwato.

Going to the pub to watch footie now. Cheers mate!

  29. The idea of having free education is not practical. The reality is that this would be too costly and beneficiaries of this free service may not appreciate it as much as if they had worked to pay for it themselves. In countries such as the US and Canada, students have the option of getting loans from their Governments to pay for university studies. I think this is a more feasible and practical option. Once students complete their university studies, the repayment of the loan is deducted from their salaries each month until it is paid off.

  30. KK is simply refering to HH. This so called SATA (King cobra) who thinks that everyone is Bemba in this country by using Bemba in the campaigns. He is too proud to be presido. He is infact a tribalist and uneducated who is out of touch with the world affairs in terms of development. Watch out for the young man HH man of the time. VIVA HH, VIVA UPND

  31. Depak Patel has the constitutional right to contest elections for the position of republican president wheather he become a zambian citizen during the muilt-party compaigns of 1990-91 or not. The fact is that Dipaki patel is not canadian. Sata knows that Depak is a full Zambian citizen. Wheather Depak has popular support or not the fact is that Depak has the right to contest for the Presidence in Zambia

  32. 37
U’re so ignorant my boy that’s why u’re supporting HH . Don’t U know that there are typing errors?U look to be uneducated young man who think people don’t make mistakes.I really don’t know if u’ve ever been to university, because u look so hopeless on this blog.Your HH u’re talking about came into politics through tribalism. He has never even been a chancelor. How can u expect such a person to be a president? Can u explain to me how HH got rich?He was a among guys who sold our mines. His background states that HH came from a poor family, therefore there’s no way a person can get rich within a short period of time like that.Your tribalism won’t put HH in state house.

  33. #47 Iwe ka London girl ulikabufi. There is council tax yes but thats just about it. Then again it goes to the Police, Fire and all that. I am sure you know there are children who get free meals at school.

As for football and school trips, sorry they are not compulsory. Tell me, when was the last time you bought an exercise book?

I bet you have not met those on benefits!

Lndon girl where is that flag from? Surely it is not a British one is it?

  34. #48,53, atleast my typo lessof is close to the “less of” unlike proper failure to construct correct words.
Have a good watch of footie!

  35. #51, as long as Dipark – whatever the spelling – has Zambian parents, he has a constitutional right to aspire for any positon in GRZ, even the candidacy of President pof the Republic of Zambia. So welcome to Dipark if he is interested and qualifies to run for Zambian President!

  36. I dont think there is a Party in Zambia that can provide free education from grade onre to universities. Lets be realistic and weigh just how this is possible in poor Zambia today

  37. 52 cont–
putting HH as a UPND president killed the party.HH would’ve waited to prove that UPND was not a tribal party.Unfortunately, the man couldn’t wait even if southerners were saying only a tonga would succed mazoka. If HH were intelligent enough he would’ve given the presidency to Sikota or chisanga at that particular time.By mentioning tht, only a tonga would succed mazoka destroyed the party.
I’m sure now my boy Hhehhehhehhe u’ve understood.
Not only that,HH has no experience.Have u ever seen in an american history a person who has never been a governer, moyor or senator to stand as presidential candidate?A person can’t just come from nowhere and run as president, period.

  38. #52, Russia-Moscow, please I beg you, desist from exposing your failure to comprehend issues on here – LT. You wrote the word :fallier” on posting #35 and now your are writing that it is a typo: ” Don’t U know that there are typing errors?”
Someone said, “it is a slip of the tongue”, but I write that it is not a typing error in #35 or a slip of the tongue. Your mistake, russia-moscow, is what I call “SLIP OF THE MIND”, where your mind could not produce the correct word because of “uneducation” which your are now trhowing at me on #52. Just a reminder to you #52, I was educated a UNZA and two more universities in this world (all english te while I am attending my 4th university right no

  39. #59, russia-moscow, did you ever answer kalya ka-question bakupashile ba-Abena Copperbelt? Anyhow, what is democracy?
On the US politics, do you know Ross Perot or have you ever heard about him?
The mighty UPND held the best democratic elections any political party is Zambia has ever had! You do not leave posistion for people who have not participated in the competition for a position. If you never knew about Chisanga P, he never contested for President of UPND. As foe Sakwiba, he lost to the MAN of that and this moment HH. Incase you don’t know the definition of democracy, I will post it shortly for you, russia-moscow!

  40. Marcus Garvey said de Livity a go lick you like a sledge” – if unnu can’t do what other nations have done. And de same ting KK a tell unnu, now me beg unnu seh listen to de Don!!!

  41. Definitions of democracy on the Web:

the political orientation of those who favor government by the people or by their elected representatives
a political system in which the supreme power lies in a body of citizens who can elect people to represent them
majority rule: the doctrine that the numerical majority of an organized group can make decisions binding on the whole group
word net. princeton. edu / perl / webwn
You can find more defination of democarcy by tyoing “define: democracy” in a google search engine. All the best russia-moscow as you receive proper education from me on LT unlike the funnies you seem to be doing in RUSSIA.

  42. Ka Tona, Im talking about educational trips, so you would rather not pay and have your child lag behind. You want your child to come and work in Lidl like you, thats fine by me.

  43. #60
I think u dropped out at UNZA nowonder u’re moving from 1 university 2 another.A genius person doesn’t laugh friends when they make mistakes.I can’t even imagine a person who has been 2 college or university 2 talk about spellings here.English is just a language just like Bemba or Tonga. It’s a shame that low IQ people like u still think speaking good English would make u intelligent. There’re a lot of people in this world who have discovered great things who don’t even speak English at all.

  44. London gal, how old yu is? And which part of London yu deh? Dread want fi link you…de winter is getting cold, y’know?:))))

  45. Zed education and health services are in their current mess becoz of this KK’s policy of lying to people that things are provided for free, when infact the government incurs the cost. He planted a seed in ordinary Zambian folk of refusing to pay for services. He killed all social instruments that would have developed by now into sources of finance for the people to pay economic prices for both health and education, including housing mortgages. Only foreigners were left to feel the true cost of these things, and in the long run have been seen to thrive better than the citizens, coz they were forced to create wealth to meet these natural costs. KK bread laziness and unreal expectations.

  46. #68 Dread, you can go and hung yourself. We are talking politics here. Go to carboot sale and buy yourself an old blanket coz I know you can’t afford Rosbys.

  47. #67,russia-moscow. I really feel for you because your level of analysing issues is truely shallow and tribal. There are degress called 1st, 2nd and 3rd. For those that do much more, there is Post-Doc. So, I will be kind enough to inform you that I did a BSc under the School of Natural Sciences at UNZA. Later, I went for my 2nd and then the 3rd degree. Right now, I am studying for my 4th degree which by God’s grace I will finish next year by september. To this end, I am not laughing at you or trying to undermine you my fellow Zambian.
The problem is with you who sadly is exposing ignorance on every concurrent posting you are making following this you-and-mine “fallier” problem.

  48. 67 Russia -moscow Dont worry about that upnd guy being educated.its very common for tongas or upnd to go around showing off any academic grade they achieve, thinking they are the only ones.Just imagine how much noise they are making about the MBA hh has. They thought our next President RB has nothing. They are still in shock and the next thing they will be telling us is that hh has cattle

  49. I have, in a careful and well-articualte manner, outlined how democratic the UPND under the leadership of the then Veep Sakwiba Sikota organised for elections to choose a UNPD President which the Incoming President of Zambia to-be HH won with a landslide victory. The people who voted in that UPND election were from all the nine (9) provinces of Zambia, but shamefully you think you can convince well-educated minds that only Tongas from the economically sound Southern Province voted for HH and removed Sakwiba. Please, grow up and acknowledge that Sakwiba with all the UPND machinery at the time failed to out-number the young, energetic, health and vibrant HH at that UPND convention.

  50. Isn’t KK related to RB through mama betty Kaunda? I’m sure KK is supporting RB he just wants to appear like a national leader but the truth is he doesn’t support Sata for reasons only known to him, If I was to guess I would say its the Chiluba factor in Sata. His idea of free education can happen in Zambia. We are only 11 million people compared to the multi billion wealth that we have in the country. Right now as we blog, the mining industry is taking billions of dollars out of Zambia. If those billions went into the education sector, education can be a reality. Just because it is not done in foreign countries does not mean that it can’t be done in Zambia. Let us not create fake barriers.

  51. #73. Welcome to this “fallier” topic that your pal russia-moscow has failed to end amickably with reasons that are level-headed. Actually, I hope you, “choma1” are not the same failure in this life for now “russia-moscow” coming now with another coat of “CHOMA1”. I am in no wise showing off what I have done in this life as a person or a Tonga man. I am merely educating you, “choma1 and russia-moscow”, thick-headed characters that you must align your arguements with understanding of the subject at hand and clarity of thought instead of exposing your ignorance. I cahllenge you to show well-placed points on here regarding the UPND and its HH as opposed to ranting out of tribalism.

  52. #72 tongas do not only live in one province, please give us a break. Its evident that under the leadership of hh ,upnd has achieved nothing and ceased to be the largest opposition party.your tongas will confess openly that hh has not added value to the party.Even after getting support from fdd and unip,hh cud not be seen .

  53. KK you killed our economy and what you are saying is what you couldn`t do when zed`s economy was supper. Just enjoy your old age. Why can`t you be like Madiba. You are too old ukulasabaila one every issue.

  54. #77 The correct spelling is challenge NOT “cahllenge”. May be that is how you spell the word in Tonga (joke to my tonga brothers and sisters), I don’t know or may be that is how you have been taught on your 4th degree studies.

  55. #78. “choma1″ thanks for showing us that you are ‘russia-moscow” who fails to maintain one identity on the blog. What do you really learn in RUSSIA or what programme are you studying “choma1 or russia-moscow”? Thanks to LT for providing us with the falgs showing the country where each LT contributor is posting from! Anyhow, I warned you to coherently coordinate your postings in #77, but now you are beginning to disappoint me.
Please, if Tongas whom you claim come from all the 9 provinces voted for the 49 or so UPND Mazoka’s MPs, in 2001, why then doesn’t the UPND’s HH have the same number of MPs that Mazoka’s UPND had?

  56. In fact you characters, “choma1 or russia-moscow”, always claim that Tonga people are tribal, tell us then why the so-called tribal Tongas in all 9 provinces of Zambia decided to be non-tribal and then voted out UPND MPs which late Mazoka so much that HH only has about 26 MPs from the 49 ones mazoka had?

  57. #81, thanks very much for the correction and comment(s). While it is unnecessary to defend my spelling mistake of “challenge NOT “cahllenge””, I do inform you that I use touch-tyoing and sometimes my brain sends information to my fingers wrongly. This is clearly my mistake and I fully acknowledge have made it. However, there are word processors which allow for spelling mistakes when typing a thesis!

  58. 82 i live in ukraine and i was only contributing. You are strange man.Dont worry abt my flag,it does not show my location but my internet provider.Grow up man,no need to go the under 5 clinic.Coming to your education please keep it up,i like to see fellow zambians succeed in life, their success is my happiniess and joy but they should never use their success to oppress nor think they are better than others.

  59. #84, indeed english can be cahllenging, but it depends on the level of the challenge at paly or in question! for as in “challenge NOT “cahllenge””, it is much better than the cahllenge in “failure NOT fallier”.
Thanks one more time! But please, do not be an imposter of my great and well-used “Maestro Hhehhehhehhe” name. Please #84 check out how you wrote your user-name (‘cahllenged’ Maestro Hhehhehhehhe )!

  60. Hhehhehhehhe,#87, thanks for your well-placed comments. This is the way we must go if Zambia has to progress. I know that I have done much in education compared to HH, but I supprot HH’s candidature because he is the best candidate we have among all those that are going to stand for Zambian President in October, 2008.

  61. The problem with the canoe that Sata is riding in is exactly how his legacy will collapse, its a Titanic. It will hit a rock and sink the entire nation. DO NOT VOTE for PF please, listen to this prophecy.

  62. Unemployment = High, HIV&AIDS = High, Economy = Static, Crime = High
No jobs = No taxes, No taxes = Govt no money to fund education, No education =N o quality job, No Job = No Money, No Money=Poverty
    …..’nicekeleko culture develops!!!
Can KK please explain or tell the nation how free education can be achieved? It sounds good but is it realistic? Coz even during the KK times, education was not free, it seemed free but was it! Remember that everything was nationalised…thats were the money went, do you remember the economy!! Please can somebody educate me here?

  63. #87, I do not mean to paint a bad picture of him (russia-moscow) or intimidate him (russia-moscow), but I merely want to correct him so that he will learn to have respect for people in this life. That written (said), let us continue with the debate under this thread.

  64. #87. Please, stay well in Ukraine, “choma1”, and take care. I wish we can meet in person when and if I will make it to Russia later on this year or next year.

  65. #94 Maestro Hhehhehhehhe By the way I appreciated your postings on the meaning of democracy, very educative indeed. The world is a global village and we can always bump into each other.Have a nice time n all da best.

  66. KK is right we need free education up to Grade 12 and University
education should be subsidized by GRZ to enable the poor to access
it. RB is the right man to succeed LPM. When RB wins the elections
he should appoint Sata as his vice president and things will move
    in Zambia. Vote RB.

  67. “Meanwhile, Dr Kaunda has urged the top leadership in Zimbabwe to use the recently formed government of unity to uplift the living standards of poor people and enable them access adequate food and water unlike the current situation.”
“Charity begins at home,” and so let us Zambians solve our water problems first. It is disheartening to note that the eractic water supply situation in Zambia is still unsolved after 44 years of independence when the country is blessed with abundant water resources in the name of the Kafue and Zambezi rivers together with others. Vote HH for real change and hope that all Zambians can belive in.

  68. Well said KK. Thats why am proud to be Zambian because of this man. When i tell people where am from they say ‘wow! KK, Zambia shall be free’ to date i’ve never heard anyone say ‘wow, mwanawasa’ or ‘chiluba’. its KK who put zambia on the map and am proud of him

  69. KK is right, zambians should choose a leader who has a future vision for the country, and to you all tribalists or racists, stop your no sense,Zambia belongs to all, black, white, indian ot even chinese as long as they were born in the country,so Deepak or whatever if qualified can lead the country to the future

  70. #95, thanks very much for everything and let us keep the faith the Zambia will be great one day. But no foreigner will come to develop it for us. The economic and social development we all want for mother Zambia rests of each of us Zambians’ shoulders.
Someone said, “the power is in your hands.” Vote wisely for HH. Vote for an educated, energetic, sound family man and currently-best-Presidential-candidate-among-the-contestants HH. Vote for real change and hope that all Zambians can believe in.

  71. #100. Ni ketile, mucwani? Michaha ni ba-kezeli, please, mubotele ki HH mweeteleli wa UPND fa Mutoompe wa Zambia mwa October 30, 2008.

  72. #100, Bo mwana mulena, kina yo,we just want our country to have a leader who will move us forward, not in reverse,a vision is needed at this time,i hope those home will make a right choice this time,Zambia has plenty

  73. I agree, kezeli. I said before that if only we could have a candidate with a third of Sata’s charisma, a third of RB’s wisdom and and a third of HH’s education we would be making headways. at present akuna

  74. #102 Maestro Hhehhehhehhe still here! Blimey.

#66 London girl. You have failed to answer my simple questions.

You have gone on to insult Dread #66 that he can not afford to buy Rosbys. Why were you complaining about paying for football and school trips then? I do not work in LIDL (or lidl as you put it) thanks very much! I bet you do not know whereyour council TAX goes do you?

  75. I do respect the views of our states man.
Free things are very costly. Our colleages in Russia are now beggars because of their desire for free education. Iam currently studying in UK and have a lot of say in every programme designed for me because iam paying.
Remember, there is nothing like free lunch. someone has paid for it.

  76. Maestro Hhehhehhehhe. Aha! You have got a dry sense of humour! I like it. You have said it exactly the way you guys pronounce it her(e) I love it.

  77. #107, Ka Tona I wasn’t complaining, I was trying to make a point that free education is not possible especially in a developing country. HALLO as for your Q you wanted to know about my flag, I say ask LT.And for that Dread man, why would he want to know me coz the winter is getting cold? Tell him to get a life.

  78. Viva HH and free education not making people pay for education then you use the taxes they pay to buy shoes at Harrods in London, ba suntwe aba, we shall use the scandinavian country model, this os doeable, Viva KK and Viva HH

  79. Let RB win and let him appoint HH as his vice so that the plunderers trying to infilrate MMD are kept at bay. Zambians should NEVER trust Sata any more. He has always been a nuisance. Have you forgotten how he caused trouble in Chawama constotuency and how many people were injured? Is that the thug you want to trust? Countrymen, let us be serious. Sata should NEVER be allowed to rule Zambia. Even the incompetent thug Chiluba knew this and that is why he got LPM.

  80. Having to decide between these two magogos (Sata and RB)is a bit of a nightmare!HH is another headache who I doubt will ever get the almost unanimous vote which the late Mazoka got.Mazoka was a leader to reckon with that is why he is supposedly to have won!
How have we come to this point where you literally have no choice? It’s like in the Kaunda years when you couldn’t pick a frog.
One has to think twice about Sata’s support for Mugabe and this RB UNIP? MMD? aaagh!!!!

  81. #112, thanks for everything. I am here to make sure the Zambians votely sensibly and wisely this time around. Have a benign day Ka Tona.

  82. You bloggers, why don’t you respond to sensible articles with facts like #117(Dziko ni Bantu). Those are the issues you need to be looking at and NOT just saying pabwato nonsense. Ubwato in a landlocked country? Whoever came up with this symbol must be an addict of a character forming cigarette – ibange too much!!!

  83. Please, Zambian voters if you can not vote for HH, vote for RB. Hon. Sata must not be allowed to be at Plot 1. This is easy to know because his all-tine friend whom Sata supported to go for a 3rd term Chiluba did not let Sata to rule us in 2001. Beware of Hon Sata and his machinations!
Vote for HH for a REAL ray of change and hope that all Zambians can believe and trust in.

  84. Some of you like to judge people based on their past. My view is that the the runners up candidate in the last elections should have been automatically sworn in as the next President to avoid costly by elections. The other issue would have been to form a unity government between political parties that have MPs. I believe this can unite the country and everybody can be made to be a part of government in one way or another. My opinion is that party politics creates nothing but division.

  85. Hola 120 hai, former Mwiinga, watch the space you should have seen chifubu and the crowds that attended the rally for HH, watch this space, while I know RB is a high contender by virtue of him being acting President, imagine MMD floating RB in 2011 from nowhere, what do you think would have happened?

  86. London girl this one is for you #what is the government doing about the baby formula milk that is coming from china??? please raise some of these real issues that will affect our children, if you have any like me that are breast feeding , how many have died and how many more are dying????

  87. I thought Russia_Moscow had stopped the art of insulting others on LT which was why I challenged him with that problem!!! It is really interesting to see how some people can show their ignorance on LT. Anyhow, thanks Maestro Hhehhehhehhe for your comments. You are very right, and let me also kindly state that those who support Sata supports him on tribal lines and that is all. I’ve been to Sata’s website looking for his manifesto so that I understand what the man intend to for Zambia given a chance, but there is really nothing there. Sata thinks running a country is like going to Ndola central hospital in the night to fire watch men who are allowing people after visiting hour…..

  88. #127 having them in reverse order immediately sends the dollar to US$1 – ZMK 24,560 that is how scary the situ will be

  89. ARAFAT
First qualification, does dipak speak Bemba. Thats the first huddle, the rest after you’ve answered this one.

  90. #123 MENSTRUAL Hehehehehe
Why do you want us to vote for someone we dont know? We all want to ride icombo(bwato) ca noah. Remain outside unwine.

  91. #131, you are right! Hon Sata support Mugabe and see how the exchange rates for the Zim Dollar are with the Inflation running at I-can’t-even write-the-figure.
#132, please, we know that there are very good and well-meaning Bemba people amongst us Zambians although there is a group of Bemba-Tribalists who support the greatest-tribalist-in-Zambia our under-educated Hon. Sata MC. Thus please, spare us that tribalism – for Dipak is free to aspire for any position along his parents are/were Zambians.
#129, thanks very much Abena_Copperbelt for the great comments you have posted.

  92. Thanks for your sentiments #133 (PWELE MAMPOLYO), but please I advise you to refrain from littering my well-thought username.

  93. According to democratic principles, at least, when is PF and its president calling for a convention? Is it the same approach for 2911?When was PF found?

  94. Fellow bloggers,Its really difficult to appreciate your points because you disguise yourselves. Its being childish to name yourself another name apart from one which is yours. What is it that you fear?Do you think you can change your nation in such timidity as this?Be gallant men and women.Represent your nation without fear with your true identity. That is why Zambia cannot go anywere because the behaviour is that of kids.who is this #6 who calls himself Arafat.Think and look around the world before you say anything.America is a conquered land anyone can stand.Would Dipack vote for you in India?would the chinees vote for?Would the English make you their prime minister?Think.

  95. Let us gloom HH. We are old enough to do that. 2011 is a long race. Just watch the other two how far they can go as we approach 2011.

  96. Maestro Hhehhehhehhe, I am glad you put things in perspective. This tribalism nonsense has gone out of hand. Sata is a tribalist but the bembas dont say so. Instead they want to say that HH is a tribalist!

The way man is, we prefer our own. But I think HH become leader of UPND fairly. He has done well in many ways. He has a lot of potential. VOTE HH!!

  97. I have just been hearing about our motherland and i am depressed. No water, powercuts, fuel almost K10,000/L (a return trip from avondale to town costs K50,000 in your own vehicle, a cab from northmead to town is K30,000), cement (K75,000), bad roads, and many more issues.

So why do people say that LPM did a lot? to me the country is crumbling down! corruption still exists, its just that LPM made it become more discreet.

    God help us!

  98. Fellow Zambians, credit must be given to LT for allowing us to give our views on various articles that appear on their website. These are very important topics and all we need to do is give our views and debate wisely. If all of us giving comments are Zambians, please let’s put away the tribe issue here and just be Zambians. And also, typos should be expected as we post our comments, so let’s try and exercise a bit of patience with one another.

  99. #143 how do you debate with unknown people, like Anonymous. How would a sensible person debate with the unknown. And is your name Gianfranco?

  100. #140/1. Thanks very much for your well analysed recognition. I have tried with all my mental capacity to show that I have no problem with any Zambian, except those that have tribal tendenices like Hon. Sata and the POST Newspaper editor(s). Hon. Sata and the POSt have for a long time now been trying to advance Bemba as a so-called National Language. While, I appreciate the fact that Kaponya’s use Bemba to sell their stuff and more so to earn a living, I do understand that the position and course that our friends – Hon Sata MC and the POST – have taken is very dangerous. So some time now, I have been thinking that maybe Zambia will do well if it is delinked into a federal state.

  101. What happened to Willie Nsanda today? Anybody know anything? Just drove past and saw his place at airport round-about in ruins. Please, anybody with info.

  102. May I respond to the sentiments expressed by #15 and #19. I haven’t read all the comments and if there are any similar points of view, I address those too. Zambia is a country founded on Love and respect for all regardless of color, race or tribe. We know that Doc KK emphasized the “One Zambia, One nation” philosophy and that has contributed much to our avoiding the conflict that has rocked Africa. Doc KK may not have been perfect but I feel that it is up to us to continue this love and strengthen it further. Tribalism, racism and other forms of prejudice have no place in a nation wishing to progress in the current world and address the elephantine challenges like improving our education.

  103. .I DOUBT SATA WHEN IT COMES TO EDUCATION POLICY.LETS BE MORE REALITIC WHEN VOTING. NAINE NDI MU BWATO BUT ,WE SHOULD WE SHOULD NOT THROW OUR LIFE JACKETS..KUTI TWAUMA ICEBERG NAIFWE.
    PA UBWATOOOOOOOOOOO

  104. You see, brothers and sisters , fellow country men and women, the Southern Province has:
Mazabuka with Farms (Maize, Coffee), Zambia Sugar plc, Kaleya Small holders Sugar, Albidon Nickel Mining, HiPro-oil-production, Kafue-Gorge Power Station, etc.;Monze with Farms;Siavonga with Kaliba North Bank Power Station;Choma with Farms;Ithezhi-tezhi with Itezhi-tezhi Power Station;Kalomo with Farms;Livingstone with Victoria Falls, Livingstone Power Station;Maamba with Maamba Collearies for Coal Mining; and etc.

  105. Western Province is alleged to have diamond, but has the plains where rice can be grown to feed the whole of Southern Africa if we Zambians are to be serious. Of course there is the fish issue.

  106. Copperbelt Province has the copper mines and other metals. I hope a few more industries are working now with the support businesses that the Mines offer.

  107. Northern Province, I do not know much of what they do that side – for I have never been there. However, Zambian people go there to buy things coming from Tanzania and the far-east in Nakonde.

  108. The UPND Mulungushi convention was extremely tribal. The Tongas took over control of the convention and manipulated it for their tribesmate. Organisation Commitee- Regina Musokotwane. Logistics- Jack mwiimbu; Elections- Ackson Sejani and another Tonga lady; Security- Kelvin Ndila. HH set up a rival secretariat which he paid. The Post gave a first hand account of the violence and bribery. The convention was a disgrace and that is what led to the break up of the party. face facts.

  109. Luapula province! Please help me with data from there although they must be good at catching fish from the Luapula river – which I do not know who much iit contributes to the GDP of Zambia. Please, wherever I have left out stuff, feel free to fill in the blanks.

  110. Easy London gal, no disrespect, me was just doin’ some cyber flirt wid u. Anyway, me love all Black Princesses dem, so stay blessed mi sistren.

  111. Thanks Mbeki for showing us African that we can leave other people to continue where we have left things. For the 1st time in my whole life I give credit to you Mr Mbeki. Hhehhehhehhe….Thanks #163 4 that graphic view of the UPND convention which saw HH become UPND President. Where was Sakwiba Sikota when all that was happening, since the UPND organised voters from all the nine Provinces of Zambia? As then Acting or Vice President of the UPND, Sakwiba would have done something like cancelling the convention for a later date to avoid the chaotic stuff you have outlined?

  112. Sata has been advised several times that he should refrain from using venacular aka Bemba on radio but he has been adamant, so who does he address? Ba Kaponya te!!!

  113. None of the so called Presidential candidates have given a critical and detailed outline of what they are go to do if elected President. Where do they stand on issues such as the economy, eduction, health, unemployment etc. Whats their vision for Zambia? The Zambian media fails to ask critical questions based on issues that are actually the nation for fear of…?? and yet these are the issues that need to be addressed.
    1. What can any of the current candidates do that has never been done before? 2. Which of the candidates has a different and promising short-medium term vision for Zambia? I guess the answer is, we don’t know since such questions are never asked!!

  114. contd #169, but then he went ahead and contested and lost, would he have said the same thing if he won, that Sejani was elections chairman (tonga), jack mwiimbu was logistics (tonga), Ndila was security, please do not be easily hoodwinked bane, well said Maestro and as usual some imbeciles want to rubbish your name.

  115. The calibre is too low,the intelligence undesireble, characher cheap morals very low.Values not christianity.I think Lusaka times must sensor insults and block foul language.Otherwise they must close this blog because all this here giving views are not Zambians but unknown people.I will come back when reality prevails.

  116. #171, please visit www . hakainde . com for all the querries you have about HH’s and the UPND’s vision for Zambia.

  117. Please, all LT well-meaning bloggers, let us see if we can open a Bank Account where we can put money to help all the Zambian Students studying in Russia under the Bursaries Committe arrangemnet. It pains me to know that my fello Zambian Citizens have no food when the so-called ‘Sugar-Daddy’, RB, and the MMD are busy distributing sugar and other food items to villagers in Zambia – just before the elections are held.

  118. Does any one know why the UPND’s HH pictures are always appearing on the POST Newspaper’s website from last week. Please, help me. It appears the POST knows that HH has done his homework this time around.
Viva the Incoming Zambian president to-be HH.

  119. #179 I have not seen the issue of the hardships that the Zambian students in Russia are facing being reported in any of the local media outlets, apart from LT. When there’s more awareness raised/ noise made about this issue then the government will feel pressurized to act. They are abandoning their responsibilities. Maybe a letter to the editor in the Post Newspaper will start the ball rolling…

  120. No. 169 and 172 There was no time to re-arrange another convention with just 50 days to go to elections. A few days before the convention there was the disgraceful and blatant tribalism at the lodge owned by media along Church Road. Sikota behaved like the real mother of the baby in the bible who was willing to let it go rather than have it killed. The tribalists were the losers in the end in that everybody but them see what a mistake they made. They will never recover from their folly. Face facts.

  121. I think so #179. But the young men and women are dying right now of hunger and we need some contigency measures before we lose a Zambian life in a foreign land over irresponsibity. Maybe we must write to HH before it is too late – for he has consistently advocated for a health life for UNZA and CBU students since his coming to politics.

  122. 180
I’m really sorry 4 you.An educated person can’t write stuff like southern has:
Mazabuka with Farms (Maize, Coffee), Zambia Sugar plc, Kaleya Small holders Sugar, Albidon Nickel Mining, HiPro-oil-production, Kafue-Gorge Power Station etc. What are u trying to say ?
U must be working in farms somewhere in Europe.Because those comments can only be writern by a grade 7 pupil.A graduate person writes comments with substance. It seems u’re saying southern province is not part of zambia. That’s the reason HH can’t be a president because of people like U

  123. Nice data #182, but did Magande and his crew run away from the MMD when him and his supporters failed to win the MMD nomination for Presidential candidate the way Sakwiba did? Is Magande a tribalist or Sakwiba according to your analysis #183? please, answer my question very humbly with your head and not heart #183.
HH asked Sakwiba to stay in the UPND for unity’s saka. But what did Sakwiba Sikota do? He took a chunk of UPND members and formed ULP – which he (Sikota) has lamentably failed to run! Please, give us data on all these regarding Sikota. Write us also how you think Sakwiba would have sustained the might UPND if he became its President considering the behaviour he has shown us.

  124. # 67 and 73 GUYS i thought coming to russia will help you to change .surely how can you be busy thinking about tribalism i think coming to Russia would have changed your mind about tribalim. shem upon you guys

  125. #184, you have come agin with sad reasoning! Go to #145 and read very carefully what I wrote for you there. Then proceed to #146 and see the sense of all the subsquent data I wrote including your quote. Thanks very much for your concern!
By the way, please, “russia-moscow” tell/write us how you are surviving in Russia since (you and) others of our fellow kind, Zambian Citizens, are suffering according to the reports we are reading here on LT.

  126. but mudala uli wamano. kwati wakwata ama brain yabili. president baka votela pa 30. ukamupeleko brain ya spare.
    “twacula pafula,” FTJ.

UBWATO: FOR LOWER TAXES, MORE JOBS, AND MORE MONEY IN OUR POCKETS.

  127. #186, hats off to you for rational thinking and posting on here – LT. I really feel for you – that are under our GRZ’s BC scheme – fellow Zambian Citizens in Russia.

  128. No. 185 Magande did not leave MMD because there was no tribalism connected with their election process. there was no one beaten like those poorf ladies. There was no corruption and threats. magande stayed and MMD is intact because of that. Those are facts you need to accept and deal with. If Sikota was such a bad person his leaving would not be a reason for UPND to still be crying a river over. Face facts.

  129. #191 you are in tune with the nation and thanks for reiterating what ba-KK has said. KK said it in 2006 and he has said it again.
    To all those that are detached from reality and truth, please view a parallel thread on here, LT, to see that KK is talking about HH on;
    ht tp : / / ww w. lusakatimes . com / ? p = 4121
HH waboola and free education for Grade 1 to public university/ies yaboola.
Viva the Incoming President to-be HH.
From now onwards, I embark on a programme to buy tissue paper to wipe tears from those who will cry come November 4, 2008.

  130. If only the big provided good leadership ,the economy wouldnt have collapsed from the second richest in Africa to one of the poorest in Africa. He was giving free education, free medicals and free everything to the foreigners at the expense of our ecomomy.

  131. Supper K,you will always be the greatest.Your value for education speaks for itself.I wish the other leaders learnt from you even thouhg they benefited from free education.God bless you KK (ALWAYS MY HERO!)

  132. Super KEN,you are so encouraging.I,ve always believed you.At times Zambians doubt you for unknown reasons.I remember you warned us that the late DR Mwanawasa was not fit enough to run the seat of presidency on health grounds.People hated you, including the deceased himself and his cabinet.Because we ignored your words we are now in sorrow. KEEP GIVING US THE WORDS OF WISDOM.I wish you well.

  133. i firmly believe that Dr. Kaunda has a very valid point. Most of us that contribute to this site are old enough to have enjoyed atleast some level of free educational services provided during his Era.As a zambian i have always been proud of the fact that zambians are some of the most knowledgeable, most informed people you’ll find in the world. we can adapt to any living environment, and fit into any society. This is because of a sound educational and cultural system. Why not give the poor access to the same system. As for who he may endorse, i firmly believe that we have alot to draw from his vast experience and vision and our politicians should be licking his boots for an endorsement.

  134. In countries like America, politicians clammer over eachother to get endorsement from popular, well known former leaders. In my view HH seems to be the man of the hour. He brings a fresh , young , modern view. I think our politics should not run on tribal lines, but on a persons qualifications. The way of modern democracy is that politics is economics. Just look at the USA. HH is probably the most credible candidate amonst them all. Its time for a change, just like it was in 1990-91. But whoever is voted in must carry the average zambian’s interest at heart.Viva Zambia!

  135. I dont know anyone thinks its possile to have free education right up to university in Zed, its just not practical considering we are not not exactly a rich nation. Govt institutions are struggling now with people paying, where will the money come from its all made free?

  136. New Government- a government of Difference
    1. President- Hakainde Hichilema
    2. Veep- Hon. Felix Mutati
    3. Finance Minister- Ngandu Magande
    4. Justice Minister- Mutembo Nchito
    5. Works and Supply Minister- Kapembwa Simbao
    6. Home Affairs- Peter Mumba
    7. Energy and Water Dev- Robinson Mwansa
    8. Sports Minister- Dr. Julius Sakala

    11. Communications Minister- Dr. Habaatwa Mweene
    12. Agriculture Minister- Costern Chilala
    13. Chief Justice- Ernest Sakala
    14. Attorney General- Mumba Malila

  137. Ba KK muli fye bwino, its true I had free eduation and I praise you for that but dont support RB. SATA can do it, Ba SATA go nimwe muliko uno mwaka!!!!!!! Ni pa BWATO FYE

  138. I respect HE the President KK, but this is just a sound bite. What does he mean by education? Free education from cradle to grave? That would bankrupt the nation again! Up to standard 6 (Or Form 2, Grade 8)? or up to grade 12? When is one considered educated? You are as educated as you can contribute to development in the country. I do not mind a plumber, an electrician or a farmer who can do his work well without a University degree, but I see so many graduates with media studies degrees still sponging on their relatives, secreatries or fashion designers unemployed. Besides all this such a program should be in the manifesto of the Party. Show us the manifestos?

  139. New Government- a government of Difference
    1. President- Hakainde Hichilema
    2. Veep- Hon. Felix Mutati

    6. Home Affairs- Peter Mumba

  140. Hi everyone. I can see the debates are getting more mature. Congratulations to all the mature bloggers. To the bad ones, you can always learn if you are wise enough.

Offline. Please I’m still waiting for Sata’s CV. PF supporters please help.

  141. Maestro……
Dr. Habaatwa Mweene is a scientist, from the MIT in the states one of the best colleges this world has ever produced. We need to have people who are informed and realistic. He knows quite sufficient about Communication, he would execute with a proficient team in place

  142. SATA IS NOT WELL LOOK AT HIS FACE BLACK BIG SPOTS,HIS TEETH ROTING BY THE DAY,RB MANKWINYA MU FACE VERY VERY OLD INDEED.THINK AS YOU VOTE.NEW GENERA

  143. BA SHIKULU bA KK NEVER RESPECTED EDUCATED ZAMBIANS. QUALIFIIED ZAMBIANS WERE POORLY PAID, HE WAS IN SUPPORT OF FOREIGN LABOUR, INDIANS, EURIOPEANS ETC WITH INFERIOR QUALIFICATIONS WERE PAID 10 TIMES MORE THAN HIGHLY QUALIFIED ZAMBIANS. ASK THOSE OLDER TIMERS THAT WORKED IN THE MINES?

YOU HAD TO BE A VIFGILANTE OR UNIP CADER TO REAP SOMETHING FROM HIM.

UNIVERSITIES WERE PERPERTUALLY CLOSED EACH YEAR.

  144. @Todd Palin
intresting choice of cabinet, but I see that some are MMD and HH is UPND!
ideologically differnt! Do you want a cabinet made of people who jump the bandwagon, just so they can secure a position?

  145. As a chief, I have never seen two people who are such an embarasmment to their families, their friends and indeed their fellow Countrymen. These two men are Chiluba and Sata. They have no manners, they have no respect for anyone including us chiefs, they have no respect for their wives and no respect for their Children. I once asked Chiluba about his origins and he was there saying stop talking politics – you are chief. I then asked him why his notorious child Castro could not be tamed at his farm, then he said, state lodge is being used by other people. So, Chiluba has no concept of a farm and neither has Sata. They expect Zambians to look after them for life. Shameful!Natola fye mentality
