Sata opposes electronic transmission of results

Patriotic Front-PF- leader, Michael Sata, has opposed the use of the electronic transmission system in relaying presidential election results.

Mr Sata feels the system is subject to manipulation.

The PF leader has demanded for an urgent meeting with the Electoral Commission of Zambia Chairperson, Florence Mumba, and other political stakeholders in a bid to resolve his party’s concerns.

This is contained in Mr Sata’s letter addressed to Justice, Mumba and made available to ZNBC news in Lusaka this afternoon.

Mr Sata proposed that the ECZ uses mere faxing system where results announced and tallied at polling stations are endorsed by all officials before transmission to the Mulungushi International Conference Centre.

He said the PF is concerned that the results that will be transmitted will not be countersigned by election agents and monitors.

Mr. Sata observed that the electronic system does not provide for correction of errors once the results hit the National tallying centre.

Mr. Sata said his party is ready to wait for a few more days to collect faxed results of the original unadulterated results.

  1. Sata had all the time in the world to express his concerns about this issue. Why now? We want to know who the winner is asap please. No delays

  2. Iwe Sata. This is something called “TECHNOLOGY” ALA. You should learn to move with time.

Are you telling me you’ll be refusing to receive emails because hard copy mail is more efficient.

HH has not complained because he has acknowledged that the world has moved on. Stop trying to drag us back Sata.

  3. Let all results be endorsed by all parties concerned such as the monitors and polling agents before being transmitted to central point.

  4. Is any one surprised? LAst time I said Sata changes like a chameleon everyone was on my case. Here is your so called President, ever consistent at teh roundabout he built, palya pa fly over- going round in circles, I agree, now I dont, I was mis quoted the list goes on, shame.

  5. The source says our Big Boat is Sinking in Southern. He is beaten by far kuli Hakalema Hikahinde en then followed by akulu mpuno.
    MMD again?Hell Nooooooooooooooooooooooooo.

  6. Zizi is back!!!!!Kicks of a dying horse the man wants to keep his hopes alive for the next few days. Wow! The msg is clear… all those thousands we were seeing in the post news were nowhere today.. even matero had no single line… surprise surprise where were all those made-up crowds? SATA ALALA!! ALALILILA

  7. Too late I heard results from Chisangali, Nyauzi, wherever it is- on QFM but they have unceremoniously gone offline, am sure the satamanians are there as the result was not favourable to them;

  8. i THINK THE MAN IS JUST TOO BACWARDS ASK HIM TO PICK UP A CALCULATER FROM THE RESULTS BEING ANNOUNCED FROM THE STATIONS AND DO HIS OWN TALLING IF BY THE TIME THEY ANNOUNCE SOME RESULTS AND ITS NOT ADDING UP THEN LET HIM RISE THE ISSUE UBUTUTU

  9. #5 SATA is right and you know nothing about Technology. E-mail is not synchronous communication. It is Asynchronous. You can intercept e-mail, change it’s contents and forward it without the recipient knowing. Fax and phone are synchronous hence the reason they are secure. So don’t just blindly rubbish the old man. He has a point here and a valid one

  10. Mr SATA should have seen that before counting started. In 2006 he objected to the electronic system set up at a cost of 3 billion kwacha and when the ECZ obliged he later complained about delays in counting saying votes were being manipulated and now he wants the delay again! make up your mind sir. we are waiting for results. The earlier we know the President the better for our economy and our kwacha.

  11. 18, is this when Sata has known that fact you are putting across? He agreed the other day to electronic transmission, why didnt he consult his advisors before agreeing? This is why we think he is not right for the top job, even if he wins this fact will be consistent. If u know you are a standard 4, always ask for help, we are just loafing as professionals as it is…

  12. The Kwacha will plunge further but results should not be rigged. Faxing is just as quick as mail. But mailling is riskier!!

  13. He had enough time to analyse this. why the change of heart now?this is exactly what he did with the story about him kicking out the Chinese people. its like this man does not know what he wants. 1st he u turned on the Mwanawasa issue, then the Chinese and now this. what kind of leader is this? this man will u turn on every promise he has made if he becomes President.

  14. Fear of the unknown is natural to experience. Fax transmissions trully qualify to be electronic technology and so is e-mail and others. At this point there’s nothing wrong with using fax as a mode of delivery since it is very timely. Better still, polling station results must be transmitted to the respective party tallying centers. This way, should the final count at the ECZ not be accepted, the party(s) tallying results can be used to authenticate those of ECZ. What else can we do differently even though it is too late now?

  15. IN THE MEANTIME WHO SPONSORED FOR THOSE COMPUTERS? IS IT CHINA? IF IT IS THERE IS CAUSE FOR CONCERN. EVEN THEN, SYSTEMS ARE RUN SO INEFFICIANTLY IN ZAMBIA (LET ALONE ABUSE) THAT ONE SHOULD BE CONCERNED ABOUT A SYSTEM IMPLEMENTED OVER-NIGHT CAN BE RELIED UPON. PIPO, DON’T LET THEM STILL YOUR VOTES. BEWARE.

  16. This is not about Backwardness, this was agreed upon before the elections by the stakeholders, why the change now let us be vigilant. Having the results verified, validated , endorsed and posted at the Polling Centers is a form of Monitoring and putting necessary control measures. Then if they still want to electronically transmit them that is okay too, but the hard copies should be a back up. Infact the electronic transmission should have been discussed and agreed upon with the stakeholders even before elections. Let us not give any room to new decisions.

  17. Sata is just jittery and yet he has it all on his plate, asuke afaule nomba lwakwe, cant learn from 2006 mistakes. Shame. I suspect PF have closed it as they are the ones with an issue on the results transmission…..beg to differ

  20. #21 we thought electronic transmission meant FAX, but it turns out it means SMTP e-mail and upload FTP. These are insecure protocols every IT person knows that. Unless they used digital certificates to sign the PDF documents, then I would believe they are secure, but I doubt ECZ even have a clue what a digital certificate is? And I know we don’t have any public Key infrastructure to guarantee secure transmission of electronics documents.

  21. This is right. There is no need to put your guard down. These guys have the pontential to steal this election. The maner in which presidents are sworn in , in africa leave much to be desired. The speed by which it is done even when there contentious issues is suspect. When one is sworn in he gets immunity and cases/petions start and drag on for years at end. There is no way I can accept these results for they are not authentic. The ECZ would have done it self a favour by having all the result sheets scanned and sent to the Result center at the same time as the other electronic results . Some results from one polling station in Kasama Sata – 419 – RB 72 the rest not known.

  26. So why wait till now for this? Yes he had all the time to look at this all those advisers. This is not good to wait untill the last minute. This is what we dont want to always wait to the last minute…

  27. SATA has taken Luapula,at least I can confirm that as I live here and some of my subjects are at the polling station

  28. I think the outcome of the results will be simmilar only that this time Sata will get more votes than RB. The province that will put Sata ahead of RB in general will be Luapula because Sata is winning there with very big magines

  29. #41 stop rubbishing the old man. An PDF document can be swapped from a mail server. As I said in #38 ECZ does not have the means to digitally sign electronic documents. Let them just use Fax. It is secure and a synchronous communication and nobody can intercept it. Forget E-mail. It is very insecure. Even school kids know how to hack e-mails

  30. # 18. SPOT ON. IN FACT I WANTED TO MENTION THAT BUT DECIDED TO GO PLAIN. SOME PIPO JUST HATE SATA AND CONDEMN EVERYTHING AND ANYTHING FROM HIM. SATA APPEARS TO BE MORE TECHNICAL THAN THE ‘KNOW IT ALL’. GO TO A COMPUTER LAB IF YOU CAN AFFORD AND SEE HOW PIPO SEE DATA AND HOW IT CAN BE INTERCEPTED AND CHANGED (BY HUMAN BEINGS) BEFORE IT IS RETRANSMITTED. YOU WILL BE SORRY. AND SATA IS TALKING ABOUT PRECIOUS PACKETS OF DATA.

  31. #52. Hahaha

They are not using email and as far as I know, Zamtel installed fibre optic communication cables in Zambia to enable broadband internet.

Call me ignorant but Can they still intercept the transmissions at the speed the documents are moving. Will they have the time.

  32. #37 wake up and get real. u don’t move into state house with katundu.SATA knows what he is talking about i’m sure the experts are the ones who have tipped him and besides, its his money at stake. its not yo money you dumb chaps who are bluffing anyhow. PABWATO……!

  33. sata leading! c’mon been there seen that. even in 2006 it was the same, sata led early then of course we know what happened. its happeing again – how great.

  34. AND YOU GUYS WHO JUST GO ON ABOUT TRIBES. CAN YOU PLS STOP IT? YOU ARE REDUCING THE INTEGRETY OF OTHER RESPECTABLE ZAMBIANS-WHO ARE THE MAJORITY, ANYWAY. CAN’T YOU BE ABOVE TRIBES? YOU ARE SO UNBELIEVABLY, PRIMITIVE. CATCH A LIFE AND HAVE SOMETHING MORE DIGNIFYING TO TALK ABOUT. BABOONS.

  36. Thank you Zambians from Central, Copperbelt, Eastern, Luapula, Lusaka, Northern, Northwestern, The Southern and Western Provinces for voting wisely. Together, Yes we have done it. The end.
Special thanks to all LT bloggers especially those who did not insult anyone. PF cadres, it was great noting how focussed you were: the ‘pabwato’ thingy by you was constant and normally made my fellow HH supporters loses hope time-and-again until I would boost HH supporters morale. MMD cadres, it was a good run with you too. HP, sorry but try again to put up a good support. As for my fellow the UPND’s HH support base, it was great meeting you and participating in a noble cause to develop Zambia together.

  37. If you are in Lusaka tune to Yatsani Studios. Immediately you hear a beep just know that they have started to announce the results. Three polling stations I found them announcing Sata was leading followed by RB, in all of them less than half followed by HH (less than 100 in all three). I did not have pen to record, but now I have pen to record.

A freind is also listening to radio Chengelo on the Copperbelt. He said Sata is leading all all the 20 polling stations they have announced followed by RB.

  38. #55 yaba you guys make me laugh, sorry. It looks like I have to run an IT course here tonight. It’s not about speed of transmission ie broadband or dial-up. They are only two ways data is transmitted on the wire. Synch and Async. You can move an e-mail fast on broad band, but it still needs to sit on a server where somebody needs to pick it SMTP is the easiest protocal and I believe it is what ECZ are using. Other uploads technologies are even worse, I wont go there..any somebody else help me explain this easily ..am off to bed now. Looking forward to full results tomorrow. I hope I wont be ruled by RB for the next 3 years.

  39. Sata is very right; am an authority on the ‘hacking’ of the email and it can be done. These Image builders for RB can build on the insufficient votes for RB by multiplying the figure for him (MMD) while dividing the figure for PF.

SATA is in touch with the world!!

  42. “Sata has beaten RB by more than 300 votes in Chiluba’s village” according to The Post. Early days but MC “Wabwino” Sata looks to be leading at the moment. Hope there will be no violence this time around. May peace prevail in our nation!! Whoever wins has a lot of work to do and they will certainly need a lot of help provided they are willing to listen.

  43. He knows why he is saying this. If you watched Muvi TV news you might have seen where Mpondela was acused of trying to “rig” in town. Whether this is true or not nobody knows. He even threatened a Muvi TV reporter.

  44. Sata is very right the software manipulates results the suppliers are the chinese the same was used in Kenya and in Zambia in 2006. Ba Sata should just be on them.

  45. Surely if the certified original paper copies of results from each polling station are still there, the computer tally can be verified by all stakeholders. The problem might be that ba Sata has alienated all clever technocrats from his party and he does not consult with anybody from what is left of his secretariat. There are a lot things they should have done before the elections. Instead they were just mouthing off while RB and MMD were busy stretagising. I hope all ends well!

You are doing a wonderful job. Keep it up I want to know what is happening. With you around, I don’t have to wait for Friday morning to know who our next president is going to be. God bless you.

Sata is slightly safer because so far from what we are getting Sata is leading atleast in three provinces: CB, Lusaka nd Luapula. In all these provinces it atleast the catholic radios that are announcing. Radios Yangeni (Mansa), Chengelo (CB) and Yatsani (Lusaka).

According to official results obtained at Musangu and Koweni polling stations, both situated in the vast Musangu village, indicated that Sata got about 333 votes more than Vice-President Banda.

A check at Koweni polling station, FJT Chiluba Basic School, indicated that Sata polled 226 votes ahead of Vice-President Banda who got 49 votes, United Party for National Development (UPND)’s Hakainde Hichilema eight and

  67. The Voting partern is simple. PF had a strategy. all those crying why HH was side lined will now agree that he has never been a factor in these elections. What PF did was get some votes more than they got in 2006 in NW , Western, Eastern and Southern. Sweep the CB, Lusaka, Northern and Luapula. Share central and the vote is in the bag. Right now RB might get NW and Western but the number may not be too good for him to win this election. He should not have banked on LPM goodwill.

  68. Solwezi Central should not be an issue, the trend to watch is what happens in the village of NW province, not necessarily in provincial capitals.

    Zimbabwe – Robert Mugabe

  72. Things in Lusaka are the same as last time (2006); PF leading about 3-1 in most places. Like Kabwata PF had more than 600 while MMD and UPND had about 200. Munali was 400-something with RB 119.

HH appears to be doing fine in Southern Province but he remains a distant third in the race. Godfrey Miyanda is doing very poor. The other provinces havent sent in their results yet. 90. momba, Kapenya, Anonymous, THANKS FOR THE RESULTS, MY RADIOS ARE OFF IN THIS PART OF THE WORLD, BUT I TRIED THE MEDIA NETWORKS PA ZED ARE SLEEPING.

I HEAR THAT SATA HAS SWEPT LUAPULA, NORTHERN, COPPERBELT AND LUSAKA, CENTRAL PROVINCE IS TIGHTENING TOWARDS PF, WHAT REMAINS WESTERN AND SOUTHERN FOR HH, N. WESTERN FOR HH AND RP.

SO WE ARE FINALLY IN THE EQUATION TO RULE, MUGABE WILL BE IN ZAMBIA FOR THE CEREMONY, AND WADE FROM SENEGAL.

  91. HH is getting all those tribal votes we have been talking about. no wonder he can’t rule. and check out how kabulonga has voted. Ala ba muma yadi no nzelu. any ways that’s your choice but ba tonga mwachilamo mwe…..

  92. #190 you are just a pessimist and sad child, can tell from your writing. the majority are already suffering. we need someone who understands and can relate with the suffering masses. open your eyes brother. don’t hate the player……

  93. By the way keep and watch out for this web site in relation with our results: wwwDOTzambiaelectionsDOTorg; just replace the DOT

  94. 190, be positive in life, dont be so cheap I LIVE WITH PEOPLE HERE WHO ARE SO RICH AND YET MISERABLE AND DEPRESSED PA ZAMBIA BACK HOME, PEOPLE ARE TRYING AND THOUGH TIMES ARE DIFFICULT THEY SEEM TO BE HAPPY AND ARE JOYFUL UNLIKE IN THIS PART OF THE WORLD. SO MUDALA WE ARE ALL ZAMBIANS SATA MAY NOT BE VERY EDUCATED BUT MAY BE A SIGN OF HOPE, OBAMA TALKS ABOUT HOPE BUT HOPE WONT PUT FOOD ON TABLE BUT WILL GIVE YOU COURAGE TO FACE THE FUTURE WITHOUT FEAR. PABWATooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

  95. Imwe basiyeni Ba Tonga it wont hurt even if you dont talk about them. Its their right to vote their tribesman. apparently the constitution does not forbid.

  96. 200, mudala walasa, it just where am people can have alot of money but never happy in their lives. just imagine the number of care homes in this part of the world. people are depressed. par zed is best, we will go back let us just finish wat we are doing.

  98. #one zambia…I got the website thanks, but it’s directing me to click the district etc…which I can’t see. Looks to be promising site.

  99. last time LPM won Mpulungu by 13,000+ compared to satas 3,000. So if RB and MCS are neck to neck in mpulungu it is a plus for MCS

  100. #196. One Zambia! – Thanks for appreacting our efforts. The woman in my house allowed me to stay up updating you guys instead of attending to my ‘duties’.

  101. To the IT guru , sorry to say but broadband and dial up links have a bearing on the speed of receipt of infor but not transmission. SO those that have broadband connections will innevitably access content quicker than those on dial up.

  102. No new results on MUVI TV coming, i shall switch to ZNBC and monitor Q FM, 5 FM, Hone FM and indeed Hot FM in Lusaka.

  103. Item just received:

    UNZA Polling Station:
    HP 22
    MMD 369
    UPND 591
    PF 1275

Remember in Munali we had other results with Sata leading in the ratio 4 to 1 against RB.

  104. We had UNIP (Four letters) and needed to improve, we went for MMD (three letters). Now we need to improve, so we go for two letters. PF!

  105. KEEP SENDING ….RESULTS, WESTERN NA N. WESTERN WILL BE TRICKY FOR PF. THEY WILL SURVIVE IF THEY WIN BY BIG MARGINS IN OTHER PROVINCES BUT IN 2006 THESE PROVINCES WERE SPOILERS FOR PF.. KEEP POSTING BA ZAMBIA.

  106. #11, ndalumba kapati. #36, a word of encouragement to all, in 2006 while studying in South Africa during a similar election result anxiety period, I congratulated Mr Micheal Sata for winning the Presidential election way before all the results from all constituencies came in. However, it so happened that Mr Sata lost those elections terribly where by he got 29% and late Former Zambian LP Mwanawasa won with 43-6%. To this end,I learnt my lessons. In Bemba, they say “ukutangila tekufika.” Remember,a similar thing happened to late Mazoka in 2001. My former history teachers used to say “history repeats iself.” In light of all this, I urge all Zambians to keep cool and wait for the final results.

  107. First three Zambian presidents had biblical names, David, Jacob and Levy. So Michael should be president seeing Hikainde and Rupiah are not biblical.

  108. As for me. I have accepted. It is a bitter pill to swallow but I have to try. Sata has won. There is no doubt about it.

My candidate HH has lost. I hope he will be standing in 2011 but from the looks of it, his party might get rid of him.

I just hope Sata will not destroy our economy. Congrats PF.

We for the UPND have to be diplomatic about these issues and not insult and name call the people who are winning. It was a nice run and we lost. Congrats to PF.

  109. i like sata, but when i think through and reflect i become scaredhe is too much of a cadre, he is not presidential, chabipa twalusa by MMD.

  110. #229, WOW, just hang in there. The real results are yrt to come. I still believe that HH will win because he has done far better than in 2006 in most places where results have been released. My guess is that president HH may have lost a bit of ground in Lusaka town/city. However, you will soon see that tables turn, I am sure. People, let me re-make a date with you all for saturday evening, by God’s grace, if I will be alive. I have a crucial presentation this day later on, so I must sleep enough. #232,it is too early to concede defeat. Rather, heed my advice from experience which I have shared on here. The race is not for TIMID souls, but the strong willed. Take care and just enjoy yourself.

Only one polling station is remaining for Chipata Central apart from the others earlier mentioned.

  112. #239 Waziona – Though I voted for Sata, I could easily have voted for Miyanda had I thought my vote was not going to help Sata. This is because Miyanda is as clean as a whistle. His integrity is just misplaced. He is in the wrong country. He is our Colin Powell. You will see that UNZA and other places were people appreciate his values, he got good votes.

  113. Munkoyo, he maybe clean but staying at home for over a year and showing up to file in while you struggle to raise supporters raises a lot of questions on your ability to lead. Its not only about cleanliness what about the ability to consult forge alliances, listen and involve others in your leadership . i think the general is too solo that affects his qualities. Clean he is. Is he power hungry or principled i dont know!

  114. #237, IT LOOKS LIKE 2006 RESULTS ARE REPEATED IN CB & LSK, MY ANALYSIS WILL BE WHO WINS NW&WE WILL CARRY THE DAY.I NOTICE LSKA VOTE TURN OUT IS VERY LOW COMPARED TO CB.

  115. #232 it’s too early for you to say that. Remember 2006, it was the very last votes that ‘made’ Levy win. Even when I know that the majority of Zambians want Sata to win, I can assure you that MMD won’t sit down and watch this happen coz they know the implications. Watch and see I can bet big on this, RB is definately winning. God help us!

  116. Total Votes counted so far by MUVI TV as of 03:25hrs this morning, PF is leading with more than 45 000 (57%), MMD more than 25 000 (33%), HH about about 5 000 (7%) and HP has (1%).

  119. Why is it that the last results are always more, we need to pray for the truth to be revealed , only God can deliver us from malpractices if they will be any.Prayer is the only answer. If at all there is malpractice, Lord may you convict those individuals until they repent because Jesus you want the best for Zambia.

  120. I’m beginning to worry about the tumbling of kwacha just in the shortest period of time. Are we safe economically?

  121. 254, THAT IS A GREAT CONCERN, I WONDER IF THE NEXT GUY HAS CAPACITY TO REVERSE THE DOWNWARD TREND. HOPE FOR THE BEST

  122. Munkoyo= we are waiting for another update. Are you cooking numbers- joking you are very much appreciated my unknown brother.

  123. I wonder if Sata is still going to claim rigging if he wins the elections.

Even before they have finished counting the votes, he has already started claiming the govt has rigged.

  124. you know what #10 it’s not right to say that everytime a person supports hakiande then they have to be tonga ,a tribalist.when did we tonga’s say when a person suppoerts sata then he must be bemba ,a tribalist or when someone supports RB he’s an easterner tribalist.for me i support HH for the man that he is not for the tribe he belongs to.more and more through this campaign season whenever i said i supported hh the 1st thing people would say is “coz you’re tonga”but you know it’s begining to be offensive because you people spreading a dangerous attitude in the zambian atmosphere, you know that our neighbours had serious ethnic wars, why would you keep trying to divide our nation???

  125. I think Sata was just being tactical by claiming the polls have been rigged, even before counting began, just to stir up people to be on absolute alert. However,we have to wait till this morning cos it’s the rural votes..in the rural areas of zambia which are easily rigged especially north western. That’s what happened in 2006 when my cousin was commanding officer office of the president intelligence unit for north western zambia, and he said mmd had rigged and it’s so easy with state machinery.however, people have been on high alert and RB may not get away with what Levy got away with.

  126. According to “PRAGMATIST”, MMD is winning.

PRAGMATIST, “MMD’s RB is leading a wrecking command victory on both PF and UPND in the October 30th bye-election thus far in Northern, Western, Central and the North Western provinces. In the Eastern province’s Lundazi, Chama, Malambo and Chipata Central RB is again sealing a clear splinter lead as of Friday 31st 04:00 AM compilations. [Source: www dot zambia dot co dot zm]”

  127. COUNTRYMEN, UNDERSTAND AND BARE WITH SATA. THE MAN IS NOT SO CONVERSANT WITH ELECTRONICS AND HE DID NOT UNDERSTAND WHAT HE WAS AGREEING TO IN THE PRE – ELECTION AGREEMENTS, IF HE AGREED TO ANYTHING AT ALL.

WHY DON’T YOU USE DRUMS TO SIGNAL THE RESULTS FROM EVERY CORNNER OF THE COUNTRY FOR TRANSPARENCY’S SAKE?

  128. I wonder why some people think that southern province is tribal because of voting for HH. Some blogger made a silly comment that the province will never develop. I think southern province contributes more to the GDP of Zambia than Northern Province and Luapula combined. I am challenging the anti-southern province bloggers to dispute this fact

  129. Fellas, just wondering HP’s Miyanda is still airing campaign messages on Radio Phoenix. One would have thought time is over for campaign noise!! Strange?!

  130. #282 dont mind development shall now be there in SOUTHRN PROVINCE with the coming of MC SATA,COZ he is the man of ACTION

  131. #176. Luapula and Northern voted for SATA as expected. So whats wrong with Southern voting for HH. Lets be realistic

  132. Iwe chi Sata wat do u want?….u r really a dumb man…u jus wastin yo tym RB has won…so leave wit it en get a life….!!nobody wants u!!

  133. HH HAS GOT WESTERN AND NW SO SOUTHERN THEN SATA HAS GOT NORTHERN LUSAKA CENTRAL LUAPULA AND CB AND RB EASTERN.

JUST HOW IS RB GOING TO WIN WITH EASTERN ONLY??

  134. I am not being tribal or a regionist. I want to be challenged on this: Southern Province contributes more to the GDP of Zambia than the combined total of Northern Province and Luapula

  135. inauguration will be next week Bwalya. On the other hand, our “supposed” next President thinking in the fax-age when computers can do the work at a the click of a few buttons.. Dear Lord, this man should not win.

  136. Copperbelt, Central and Lusaka has gone to Sata with huge margins. Western so far has gone to RB with minor differences to Sata, Our guys no the ground predict North-western to go to RB. Southern for HH though RB has pulled a surprise in one station. Northern and Luapula have gone to Sata as well.

I should say this election is tilting to Sata. Hence Brace!!

  137. lol @ #297 Zed Gelo

I have already accepted that this man will be president unless by some miracle HH WINS.

Since I have already accepted, I have encouraged my family to turn their kwacha’s to rands or pula’s before the kwacha starts trading at 10 million per dollar. 90 days, when do we start counting???

On the other hand, congrats to PF. Is Robert Mugabe invited at the inauguration??

I will actually be one embarrassed Zambian. I betcha Rober Mugabe is attending this inauguration, he was invited last time to the phantom one…lol.. eish!

  141. God loves mother Zambia; we asked for another leader and he’s givn us. Just respects the one that comes in …most likely Sata. the one above knows why Sata, so don’t question, just accept and wait upon the lord. Things are NOT always they way the seem!

  142. Don’t hate Sata for the sake of it. Give him a chance. If you are a hard working person, together with him, you will achieve a lot. If indeed he wins. I will notice the change in some things.

  146. #312, your wish are NOT the Lords, Sata may most likely win … are you really going to relocate??? You still have another set of elections to express your views after a taste Sata’s reign. Did everyone love Mwanawasa spot on? Did everyone say Chiluba was tricky spot one? Did every one say “thanks” to KK. Give Sata a chance to prove himself! Don’t take thinks personal, this is politics!!!

Things are not good for Mr Banda.its good we will have a new party and a new president.

  148. I
Zambian Opposition Leader Sata Leads in Early Election Results

    By Nasreen Seria

Oct. 31 (Bloomberg) — Zambian opposition leader Michael Sata is leading in early results from yesterday’s presidential election.

Sata has won 63.5 percent of the votes cast in 15 out of 150 constituencies, according to results collated by the Electoral Commission of Zambia. Acting president and ruling party candidate Rupiah Banda is trailing with 29.5 percent.

Sata, 71, was defeated by late President Levy Mwanawasa in the 2006 election, after also leading in early poll results. The opposition leader said yesterday voting was being rigged in favor of Banda, and vowed not to accept the results

  149. Bloody nonsense! Sata has access to his election agents countrywide and can make a tally of his own which can be compared with that from ECZ. Do’nt a bad loser big man!

  150. MWEBAFYASHI, IF THE ELECTION RESULTS ARE PASTED AT EVERY POLLING STATION THEN ELECTRONIC MEDIA TACTICS WILL NOT WORK OUT BECAUSE WE CAN VERIFY BY CROSS CHECKING THE ELECTRONIC MEDIA RESULT AGAINTS THE PASTED RESULTS. SO ALL PARTY REPRESENTATIVE SHOULD KEEP THEIR FIGURE ON THEIR FINGER TIPS.

MAY THE BEST FOR ZAMBIA COME OUT OF WHAT WE VOTED YESTERDAY. PEACE SHOULD PREVAIL IN OUR ONLY LAND.

  151. My fellow zedians, this is not the time to be haters. we should always value our MOTTO “ONE ZAMBIA ONE NATION.” Let’s love in harmony. God bless you all and God bless Mother Zed!!

  152. please leave sata alone, if you have been out of zambia and u actually dont even know whats going on , just stop talking and waste your breathe before u have heart attack,
sata won this long time ago live with it
    and he will make

  153. SATA & PF Congrats U R doing fine. As HH supporter forever I would like to be the first to congraturate U. This though doesnt take away my belief that HH would and is still the best. But if U all have said otherwise then I guest as we R in a democratic country I just have to accept your choice. 156. I think this blog is full of junk election results.

How can we get credible results on this blog. I’m not too sure if these results we see are validated.

Don’t get me wrong…I support any Presido who wins.

  157. MICHAEL SATA:

-This is a man who was going to invite ROBERT MUGABE to his inaugural speech last election.

-This is a man who was one of FREDRICK CHILUBA’S henchmen.

-This is a man who wanted to snub CHINA for TAIWAN and NORTH KOREA.

-This is a man who started PF because he was bitter at not getting the MMD presidency.

-This is a man who is an ex-COP, absolutely no idea about how an economy runs.

-This is the xenophobic man who INVESTORS shudder when his name is uttered. Watch the EXODUS unfold.

-This is a man with 90 DAY promises only rivaled by an IRAQI victory- George Bush.

WHY ON EARTH WOULD YOU VOTE FOR HIM!!? An educated person would read between the lines..

  158. No Name, ONE ZAMBIA ONE NATION doesnt work in ZAMBIA. It is ONE ZAMBIA ONE NATION + BUT OTHERS ARE MORE ZAMBIANS. The first MOTO works for you not others.

  159. # 322, I betcha they were Zimbo’s praying like me with regards to Mugabe in Zim. The Lords wish may not be mine and people deserve the leaders they get, Chiluba won by a landslide in 1991 because almost all Zambians wanted change & it cost us. This time Alot of people I have interacted with DO NOT want Sata whilst some do, my belief is there will be consequences and repercussions… eish am I even making sense? I just want out, Sata was not my choice when I voted yesterday thats all.

  160. Remember Emmanuel munaile’s case in Bahati constituency? he won the election but when entering and transmitting the results, the results were swapped and he was given figures belonging to a different candidate. We may have computers but we dont know how to use them.

  161. ganjaweed, i think you have been smoking all nite, i wonder whose providing you ganja dont talk about sata in those manners ok, or you will get it from.
u just afraid if he wins there might be no ganja for you
    looooossseer

  162. Its on CB and LSK. Like last time, Sata will be over taken. CB and LS was expected, what for Eastern, Southern, Northern, Luapula, North West,Central etc

  163. EJ
get a life and move on, leave the man alone, looks like you have something personal with him,
    let him be for now
u can sought it out later

  164. Ba Sorry…I really pity you. This is the time you have to make peace with everyone, every tribe and all you say is that the MOTTO ONE ZAMBIA ONE NATION does not exist? why are u being a persimist?

  165. #323 we are getting results on Radio Q FM. If you don’t believe us it is your fault. Me I slept at around 01:00 not to waste time but to get results. Mivi TV was giving results all not.

  166. NOW THAT WE BEEN INFORMED THAT RB WON,HERE IS THE NEXT NEWS..FAZ- president, Kalusha Bwalya is confident
Football Association of Zambia- FAZ- president, Kalusha Bwalya, says the Zambia national soccer team has a chance of qualifying for the 2010 World Cup finals in South Africa.

Bwalya says the Chipolopolo boys are capable of beating any team in their qualiying group, which includes reigning African champions Egypt.

He says FAZ will soon meet with government officials to draw up the team’s training programme in an effort to prepare adequately for the qualifiers.

Zambia begins her quest for a maiden world cup appearance with an away tough encounter against group favourites, Egypt, in Ma

  167. # 347 I meant all night and “all not”. As some of you might have noticed there were fewer vehicles in the Lusaka roads than normal an indication that people got leave so that they can watch results on TV one wife is one of them. So we should just come to reality whatever the results, but if #323 you start disputing then give us your results.

  168. Sata is winning, come what may.
    Pabwatoooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
    Mwamukoloooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
    Viva Sata Viva PF

  169. Though am HH supporter i think PF has won. what is more shcoking is that MMD is in second place. what change are we talking about then. i think zambians still want to be poor and that is why they keep voting for the same people. dont even blame the capitalists for your poverty cause it is all your fault as voters. I voted for HH and i will never regret but i will accept the results cos that is what democracy is all about.

  170. an update has been issued by ECZ. Total from 19 constituencies so far are as follows:

    MMD 96,325

    UPND 26,053

    HP 2,081

    PF 187,863

  171. The better candidate will definately carry the day. President Sata congrats for the good run. We need to move on and start working.

  172. We have the some result from copperbelt, lusaka, eastern and southen provice. Now what about the result from Luapula province and Some parts of Central province. Please can some one give us.

  173. National Totals MC Sata 187,863
    RB 96,325

MMD in trouble, Rural vote wont help this time as people were in the
field planting nyama soya. Apathy and divisions will cost MMD this
    election. lets wait and see

  174. I think the MMD has won these elections. This is a farmiliar start. It has always been like this. Mazoka in 2001, Sata in 2006….

  175. I cannot rush into congratulating PF, not because i hate them or against their wining, but because the results from their strongholds seem to have all been almost announced. Zambia has 150 constituencies. I will congratulate you guys if you hold on to the lead when results from 100 constituencies have been announced. Keep your fingers crossed people!

  176. I hear Sata leads in double didgits. Kapokola for presido? I will continue bu kaboyi here until he is out!!
Disapointed with all the educated we have!!

  177. #336 is lost in translation…. qualifications wont always make you the better person for the job. Sata for the job. wait and see

  178. sata has beaten RB in chilubas village with over 300 voters watch out
bamuna apuno ikulu naikosa this time no chance for vj

  179. HH and RB are sharing the spoils so it seems. More than half a million votes have been counted. With low voter turn out in many places, If Sata continues to lead and get the second and third place votes he is headed for fair win. Some of the rural contituencies may take long to announce the results. Hence th repeat of 2006 voting patterns.

  180. If Sata win!!! We are headed for doom!! The idot will spoil everything!! The economical gains we have made so far will vanish!! The investor confidence we have gain will be be uprooted!!! But thank God we are seeing the parttern of 2006 elections!! He will be sorted!! if it means rigging the election for RB or HH please do!!!

    Kaponiya’s!!! want to take over!!!

  181. lets be alert and not forget what happed last time(2006) SATA was leading just like this and what happed next, the late carried the day. lets not be carried away with only 19 of the 150 constituencies that have been counted. GOD BLESS THE REPUBLIC OF ZAMBIA. PEACE

  182. #374 i agree with you, if plot 1 goes to sata, zambia is doomed! He says more money in the pockets, ok, if a person from CB says mpelako 1pin, ill say you voted for more money in the pocket, now go and get from the one who cheated you…..

  183. Results from 38 out of 150 constituencies as obtained from polling stations:

    PF 336,044 57%
    MMD 178,188 30%
    UPND 70,159 12%
    HP 3,581 1%
    Void 3,115 1%

Note that the above are yet to be verified by ECZ

  184. #5, so what is wrong with being Tonga??? If you are a woman, you will these people very good in everything they do….I mean care, tender love, romance, etc.

  185. HAHAHAHA

I think our comments are being read on radio phoenix.

Be careful guys, everyone is seeing what you are writing.

  186. zambians lets us not get excited about the pf’s wining, lets remember what mmd thus chiluba took over unip he sold almost everything and the kwacha deprecaite ,though we never qued for mealile bread and other things indroduced shoprite and these other expensive places, but mwanawasa made sure we were growing our own food and interprenuer ship continued but will pf pull this ,i hope we wont be importing fruits and mealile meal flour and other things again.

  187. #384 – batonga tender love and romance. abantu ba mpali – how do you love and care someone you are going to betray by marrying a second wife.

  188. This is no time fi tribal jokes, seen? Yu nuh see seh tribal war a gwaan inna Congo? Me tell unnuh fi hold your peace and wait fe di results.

  189. Sata is not winning. God is with the people of Zambia. He tried FTJ and failed lamentably. They are one and the same. Let us just have akulu mpuno continue sleeping on duty while Magande does a good job. Wina a zalila!

  190. It seems we have a new official language in Zambia.

Right now all I can hear on Phoenix FM is bemba. What happened to english??

I think I should start applying for a bemba course.

  191. guys, kanshi tizankahala bwanji pa zed.
God willonly allow what is best for us. Let’s hope for the best candidate to win.
we have all done our duty and we hope things go well.
people let’s keep praying for peace and tranquility to continue.
Love all yo blogs guys. i just joined you

  192. You know what!
Chiluba is a bemba term which means: something that gets lost
Chilufya is also a bemba term meaning: one who loses it.
Chiluba rule Zed for 10 year, while Chilufya was adivising him.
Chiluba was getting lost in the running of the country because Chilufya was losing him.
Now Chilufya wants to be president; I hope he will not lose himself and mismanage the country.

  193. WTF…Radio phoenix is actually reading my comments???

Can I make a few shout outs??

Shout out to my mom and dad.

Shout out to all my friends.

Shout out to the incoming president Mr Sata.

    Shout out to Hakainde Hichilema.

    That will be great. Thanks.

    UNIP 339
    UPND 1,417
    MMD 7,563

PF member has been declared winner as the new MP.

Unverified presidential results from Ndola Central:

    HP 273
    UPND 1,550
    MMD 6,226
    PF 12,460

  195. #393 the problem with you is that you are as sleepy as akulu mpuno and that’s the reason you cannot accept that King cobra is taking a good lead which will result in an absolute overall win whether you like it or no!

  196. # 176, you are a sychopant, for lableing Southern Province tribal based on these results. Why can’t you make a broad-based analysis and enlarge your sample size to build your arguments on. If you went to school, you did not learn anything. For if you had, it would have taught you how to deal with prejudice, presuppositions and stereotyping, which subjectivities you use to further you hate-filled heart hidden under the guise of critiquing southerners. Ulimubwa omulya nyoko

  197. Total results for Kitwe without Chimwemwe Constituency are as follos;

    BANDA 21589
    MIYANDA 484
    HH 4323
    SATA 59305

  198. #176, the voting in Luapula is tribal, and so is Eastern province, going by your flawed premise of reasoning. So, why didn’t you pick Northern and Luapula where PF is strong based on the ethnic considerations people there use to vote. Maano wasiya nkonya. You choose to close one eye when you wear the spectacles you use to analyse tribalism in Zambia. In fact, come back to Zambia, not debating on the blog from the USA spreading hate speech. Learn from Americans and the obama phenomenon. Be ashamed.

  199. LT are you sleeping or what, we’re waiting for today’s update. Even BBC have the latest…it reads “Zambia continues to vote amidst fraud allegations”.

  200. A report just releases on Radio Phoenix:-

An MMD carder was caught red handed around 07:00hrs trying to stuff some already marked ballot papers in a ballot box at Munali High School. The man has been taken to Civic Center (Lusaka) where a hearing is underway and the man will be handed to the police thereafter while a complaint shall be launched to ECZ.

PF Munali MP confirmed the incidence and has questioned where the man got the premarked ballots from when ECZ Director refuted claims that some ballot papers were coming into Zambia dubiously.

    Kaya manje!

  201. Musiye a topinge omoyo nda chalo chinzuna.

    grand results so far.

    HP 2,081
    UPND 26,330
    MMD 96,325
    PF 187,863
    Source Radio4 Time 09:45hrs

May be the former locomotive shunter is winning this time, wat a turn of invents for mmd to allow this waste political hijack.

  202. How true is it that the investors have withdrawn about 40 million dollars from Zambia. How are we going to draw investors confidence should Chilufya win the elections.

  203. Iwe Chi Tim, Where you have put the words is where you are suppose to put your name. Chimoneni. Unomuku ni pa bwatoooooooooooooooooooo

  204. How true is it that the investors have withdrawn about 40 million dollars from Zambia? How are we going to draw investors confidence should Chilufya win the elections. This not a duplicate issue ,its ABANTU BAYA’S views.

  205. #411 Abantu Baya

Don’t worry about the investors’ reaction. That is very normal at such times. Wait until a new govt is in place and based on their performance, we might just see them pump back that cash.

  206. People should get facts about the electronic transmission system and not blame technology. The same forms that are signed by the representatives are the same that are transmitted. Kind of surprised how different that would be with the fax. It is not email as some are inclined to believe. This is a straight scan of the results just as fax. The only difference is it adds the totals coming in and the representatives at the ECZ are there to confirm the totals.

Only hope no one will hide in the issue if they loose. Anyway let the worst man win coz unfortunately we have the worst candidates in history. Maybe HH and Miyanda shd restrategise their way forward.

  207. ITS NOW TIME PF AND UPND POOLED THEIR RESOURCES (VOTES) TO DISLODGE MMD. THIS IS THE CALL FROM EVERY WELL MEANING ZAMBIAN WITH INTEREST AT HEART TO DEVELOP ZAMBIA. WE ZAMBIANS ARE HUMBLY ASKING BOTH PARTIES TO BURY THEIR HATCHETS AND JOIN HANDS. WE DO NOT WANT MMD/UNIP AGAIN. THERE IS TOO MUCH POVERTY IN THE COUNTRY WITH ALMOST EVERYTHING. TO PUT IT SIMPLY, PF, UPND PLEASE PUT TOGETHER YOUR VOTES AND KICK OUT MMD. THANKS.
