Evacuations of Govt officials to SA to continue- RB

Share

President Rupiah Banda says government will continue to evacuate its officials for specialist treatment abroad while equipping local hospitals to take up future tasks.

He said three senior government officials admitted to hospitals in South Africa are doing well.

Mr. Banda said this Tuesday shortly after arrival from South Africa where he had attended a SADC summit on Zimbabwe.

Chief Justice Ernest Sakala, Science and Technology Minister Peter Daka and Parliamentary Chief Whip Vernon Mwaanga were recently evacuated to South Africa for specialist treatment.

  3. No Shame indeed! When are our hospitals going to be equipped.
I know that this trend did not start with RB but to have the audacity to say we shall continue until further notice!!
This time i am coming not only to vote but to decampaign you Animal Farmers..
    One day,all SHALL BE EQUAL.

  4. South Africa has good equipment but there is a big chance that you might be treated by a Zambian Doctor. Why not bring more equipment to Zambia and that way we can save on costs and treat more patients. We can do it!

  5. Who cares? after all you dont listen to the people. Remember even with the so called specialist treatment death is an appointment with GOD and you will sure die !!!!

  6. does this president have a soul, how honestly can you say that at a time when people are so disoriented. Can’t we skip 2010 we go straight into 2011- then come back to 2010 later after we have voted.

  7. BA MAUREEN ,
RB IS A SHAME LESS MAN,

WHY CANT THEY IMPROVE THE HOSPITALS BACK HOME , INSTEAD OF WASTING OUR MONEY FLYING THE FAT CATS TO SA
TELL THEM TO PUT THE T/BONES DOWN AND SPEND SOME TIME MU GYM
    SHAME ON THEM

  8. Ever heard of diplomacccyyyy !This man is a bwetu, bwetu , this time around ma voters mu naayitaya. This is like adding salt to the wounds of poor zambians whose relatives are dying in so called hospitals. And what does he mean future tasks ? did he put sick pipo in Govt? is he aticipating more sick govt officials ? good for them they have a new lease on life thanks to “being evacuated to SA”

  9. ARE THEY GOING TO SA FOR LIPO, TUMMY TUCK, THE LOT,
THEY CAME BACK AND SAY HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE.
VI NA BWELA MOCHEDWA, VS CHIZUNGU

  10. KA PRINCES
Thats the whole idea ,if they improve local hospitals ninshi no traveling and no agenda on the table in case of elections

  11. some of us living in the western world, can agree with me that such cheap talk from RB would get him in so much trouble. It’s a pity our “democracy” is just a joke and they get away with this nonsense. We just pray God will give them wisdom to start thinking wisely and to think before they talk.

  12. And what about the common man on the streets? The gov´t doesn´t even do anything to improve the conditions in our local hospitals and instead they keep on paying SA huge sums of money which SA puts in gud use. what a shame to our so called leaders who just look instead of leading and getting their bellies round @ the expense of the poor voters.

  13. “He said three senior government officials admitted to hospitals in South Africa are doing well.”

So, now Minister Daka is admitted to a hospital in South Africa as opposed to the tour that he was doing as an outpatient I read on the other thread one of these days.

The news is not complete as I have not been informed about what the 17 yr old MMD GRZ is doing on mr Cardson Kabwe, a GRZ sponsored Medical Student in Russia who has been suffering from a heart problem for 4 months now and has only 2 months before his condition worsens.

  14. ndolic ,

THEY MUST REMEBER THAT WHAT GOES AROUND , COMES AROUND.
    LOOK AT FTJ FOR INSTANCE.
HE IS EVEN WETTING HIMSELF NOW, I MEAN MU MA TROUSERS.
ASK JAMACO, HE SAW IT WITH HIS OWN EYES

    SO RB BE CAREFULL.

  15. on “President Rupiah Banda says government will continue to evacuate its officials for specialist treatment abroad while equipping local hospitals to take up future tasks”, when is the equipping of local hospitals starting? How many family members are being supported by GRZ money while escorting the sick GRZ officials? Why are the GRZ sick officials fearing UTH? HIV?
Can some UNZA Economics and Development Studies students and lecturers please carry out some work to know how much money the 17 yr old MMD GRZ has spent since 1991 in sending sick GRZ officials to South Africa and UK for check-ups and treatment please! The results are needed for campaigns during the 2011 tripartite elections.

    Nomba imwe nga mwalwala…bakamitwala?:d
Think beyond bro! Do the SWOT!
About that woman, man or child in Kalingalinga, Ngombe, Misisi, ….

  17. Rusty Buttocks Toadface, put your priorities in order. Equip our local hospitals with the required facilities. What about the 25 year old student in Russia?

  18. MEASTRO
You should know better. But did u even expect that they would think again and stop sending their terminaly ill perpetual inner circle abroad fo treatment? If this 19year old ever does anything that in any way would improve the lives of the citizenry,it would have nothing to stand on when campain day beckons. So u understand their dilenma?

  19. NINE CHALE U MISSED A THREAD !!! EVERYONE WAS JOINING US FROM EVERYWHERE. ALL AROUND THE WEB. LT THEN DECIDED TO CLOSE THE THREAD BECAUSE THEIR SERVER WAS BOILING HOT IWE!!!

    IT WAS BAD!!! 8->8->8->8->8->

  20. These are signs of the end,
    Symptoms of a failing state.
Take heed patriotic Zambians, brothers and sisters.
Zambia is going down the drain!
Wake up and fight for your motherland!

  21. RB should engage new image builders…. You dont commit Verbal diarrhea as President. Teta can make such Utterances because his kanongobility is smaller than that of inswa

  22. 48. ndolic greetings. On “MEASTRO You should know better. But did u even expect that they would think again and stop sending their terminaly ill perpetual inner circle abroad fo treatment? If this 19year old ever does anything that in any way would improve the lives of the citizenry,it would have nothing to stand on when campain day beckons. So u understand their dilenma?”

Do mean the 25 yr old would-be Dr Cardson Kabwe on “this 19year old”? otherwise, I appreciate their dilemma, but we have a life at stake in Russia which did not take itself there like me, but it is under the 17 yr old MMD GRZ’s sponsorship.

  23. Those back home tell me something,do members of the press ask specific questions like the Cardson Kabwe’s case to the President when such opportunity arise,i think when Banda said eveacuations will continue,he should have been accepted about Kabwe so that we know if he’s aware of the situation,it seems some people in authority are really incompetent & will not act unless kicked in the backside so Kabwe might deteriorate whilst they are sipping coffee in their offices.I heard sometime last week in Swindon,UK,the Zambian High Commissioner was almost lynched by Zambians for not answering questions properly(regarding passports),he was summoned by Zambians in S/West England.

  24. @#66 meant to say shuld have been asked when i typed ” he should have been accepted about Kabwe so that we know if he’s aware of the situation”

  25. 51. Anonymous greetings, I will that these are ‘last kicks of a dying horse’, but we all Zambians of whatever backgroung MUST TOGETHER give the dying horse what it needs to make sure it is dead in 2011.

We have been played around for a long time now. The future of the Nation, Mr Cardson Kabwe, as we are always assure has been sick for 4 months now missing lecturer in a country Russia where today in a train it was about -25° Celsius when I was there around 9 – 10 am without relatives to look after him.

Where are our priorities as a Nation Zambians with an MMD GRZ that has experience having been leadership for 17 years?

  26. 55. Jigga greetings and nice contribution on “do members of the press ask specific questions like the Cardson Kabwe’s case to the President when such opportunity arise,i think when Banda said eveacuations will continue,he should have been accepted about Kabwe so that we know if he’s aware of the situation….”

From the way our politics are reported in tabloids masquerading as NEW MEDIA ORGANISATIONS, it appears like our journalists do not know their job. Now, Physicists like me need to teach Zambian journalists how to do their job. Sad indeed!

  27. Thats the reason why I dont vote. It is an animal farm situation-some animals take it they are more important than others. :((:((:((:((:((:((:((

  28. 58. ndolic. I see but 2009 January minus 1991 June or so is only about 17 years and not 19 following your “meastrro
    19years of the maimed(mmd)rule”.

Anyhow, I understand your point now. Later!

Greetings to u too.I agree with u,our journalists lack the necessary calibre & enthusiasm as exhibited by most professional across the world,i think there’s just too much fear of authorities in africa as a whole, leaders think they are not answerable to anyone.

  30. meastro
if you follow the trend here we are stuck with them up to 2011 and I GUESS THAT COMPENSATES FOR THE REMAINDER.Unless you come up with a better reason why u think they will not finish their term

  31. How about poor Zambians suffering from exactly the same ailments as for those politically connected. Please help the poor. Tax money is for every Zambian.

  32. #62 Jigga. The problem we have is that journalists particularly at ZNBC, Times and Daily Mail are complicit to the high level corruption in Zambia.

  33. Mwamoneni, the UTH and other local hospitals will never improved just like all the basic schools our children go to, because they send themselves abroad for treatment and school. Tukafivotolole.

  34. 62. Jigga, 63. ndolic, and 65. ndolic, thank you all and take care.

I think we need to teach our journalists a lot. I also fail to understand why the fail to ask the Undereducate as to what exactly was his role in sponsoring MMD Thugs that macheted fellow Zambian Citizens in 2001 or there about.

I think Steven Sucker (Spelling) of the BBC must be asked to interview the Patriotic Front (PF) of Zambia leader Undereducate Micheal Chilufya Sata on HARDTALK one of these coming days. Such an interview would bring out some light into what the Chiluba Administration MMD GRZ was like between 1991 to 2001.

    Later.

  35. While it a good idea to save life being self reliant is better than depending on others. Why are we always congesting other peoples hospitals? Why can’t we improve our hospitals? It is shameful to neglect our UTH, Kitwe and Ndola central hospital but choose to spend money elsewhere.

  36. Lsktimes you should open a special page for RB quotes so that by the time it’s election time 2011 we can be reminded. This is because zambians seem to have a puppy like memory where they are kicked and come back with their tails wagging.

  37. 69. His Excellency greetngs. On “It is shameful to neglect our UTH, Kitwe and Ndola central hospital but choose to spend money elsewhere”, this is also true of spending as a Country in buying alomst everything from China when we can manufacture our own.

On individuals’s levels in ZAMBIA not abroad, a synonymous case is buying products with US American flags, hoods, trying to look like Tupac or now DMC or whoever who is in USA when you are in Zambia and can buy Zambian products to show that you are proud to be a Zambian at home. We need to protect our local industry so that our economy can improve instead of making other countries more richer.

  38. Ala this is a defeatist stand by RB. Why consolidate the position of evacuating your friends to SA. This sabotage of the worst kind. Zambia is almost becoming a province of SA. Politicians like being spoon fed on tax payers money.

  39. Nutrition is the basis of health and cause of most diseases.
“Let food be thy medicine and medicine thy food” Hypocrates.

In the US you have a strom Health Freedom Movement that educates people about the dangers of Western Allopathic Medicine – drugs make you more ill – create new diseases – so the Big Pharma can sell you more drugs that – more ill – more drugs.

When you get evacuated to SA to be treated with drugs you should see this as punishment – punishment for not educating yourself about what causes diseases and how to prevent them.

  40. The sad thing is that we as a nation have been sold to SA (not only the health sector). The Zambian economy is not protected and makes it very advantageous for investors to use SA as a staging ground. After all, if I were an investor, I would see no benefit in setting up in Zed when whatever I produce in SA could be sold in Zed; tax exempt!!

  41. 72. Mouse Warrior greet posting. I am one of the people do dislike taking medicine anyhow. Infact, I don’t remember the last time I took medicine.

How do you also TRUST some people you do not know to inject things in your body?

They can easily inject you with an HIV! The can also put poison into you. Or Whatever so that you can call again as it will be more money or business for them.

I feel pity for our 17 year old MMD GRZ officials. They may think that they are clever, but they may be surprised one day to find out shocking data with these there frequent South African Hospitals visits they are doing.

  42. to 71. Maestro H………..
I agree with you – and hope that by “negelecting hospitals” you don’t mean we should by more chemical drugs and radiation equipment from USA and Europe.

We could have the best health system in the world – health is not a matter of money (unless you want to be a customer of Big Pharma)- start educating journalists, so that they understand what they are writing about – grow organic food, a vast diversity of organic food, – and stop eating and drinking all those artifical substances that you cannot metabolize. It will do wonders for your health.

  43. LETS ALL JUST GO TO UTH,NOT ONLY A FEW WHO EVEN HAVE MORE MONEY THAN THEY NEED.SEND POOR ZEDIANS NOT THOSE WHO CAN MANAGE.

  44. This is sad indeed,Ba Kateka the way he is saying it as if its a nice think to evacuate pipo to south africa. Why cant they receive treatment in zed?Exactly the reason is simple SA has good medical facilities than ZED,Why cant the Govt use the same money to upgrade the standards of our health facilities mu ZED.One painful thing is the pipo who are brought here are attended to by Zedian Docs.

BA BANDA MWAFILWA INCHITO….IMPROVE THE HOSPITALS YOU BA MUDALA.

  47. Zambian hospitals will never be improved as long as this rubbish continues. This is the message these imbeciles are telling us. As most of you are accepting this with a smile, this is the calibre of leaders you deserve. So when they give you panadol when they can save your life with antibiotics don’t complain. And when they fly you to Milbank hospital when you are seconds from death, please don’t complain when you come back in a coffin.

  48. Epilepsy, Diabetes, hypertension , AIDS, Rupiah Bandas’ Dementia- Those Doctors in zambia have been trained to deal with all these .Evacuations to South Africa are a waste of tax payers’ money.

  49. you are a very usless, selfish president. You don’t care about people who put you in power. The money that have been spent sending certain group of people to Sa could have been used to equip our hospitals so that everyone benefit from it. Think about it RB

  50. RB you should even keep quiet because you are selfish and have no scope. How could you boast about evacuating certain individuals to foreign hospitals at the expense of poor peaple’s taxes.

  51. Very arrogant. What are u doing in equipping Zambian hospitals. We are not kids, just continue evacuating yourselves, don’t annoy us. You think SA will save you when you have been living your lives in a recklessly. AIDS will finish all of you, do think SA will solve yoour health problems.

  52. zambian politics are nauseating to say the least, how can a president make such a declaration, he should start tuning in to CNN to learn how new presidents with visions that have their country and people at heart set about doing business, the problem we have is, this president campgained on completing another man’s legacy, in other words he has no vision of his own.So dear zambians this is what you get.

  53. One Zambia 2 nations ;one for the government the other for the rest of us. For some inexplicable reasons we keep voting for these selfish uncaring people.

  54. This is a good cause for the Zambians to PEACEFULLY demonstrate against. Where are the NGO’s and other stakeholders to organize peaceful demonstrations . Zambians cannot be taken advantage of anymore when they are being subjected to go to Hospitals with no equipment, medication etc. This Govt only changes their direction when they realize that Zambians are serious by putting excessive pressure on them.

  55. #37 Youre right. What most bloggers dont realise is that their PCs have a unique IP (Internet Protocol ) Address that can be tracked down right to that very PC. Mind what you yap esp from office PCs.

  56. What a shame! at your age thinking like a 10 year child, incase you have fogotten that its only three years my dear before u appear in court for corrution. You think you will stay where you are forever….WATCH YOUR MOUTH, you are not the first either are you the last. :-w

  57. What will stop him from sending his 51 years old son to South Africa mukutina ifipute when he took the whole clan for holiday to Kasaba bay.

Tax payers should brace themselves for more abuse.

Poor politicians with no Plan for the country!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  58. But why is it that this tax payers money is only available for use to already rich people? Honestly what do the poor get (Pathetic service and long hospital ques only to be given a prescription to go and buy your own medicine)Politicians you will seriously be judged for this evil deed one day [-o<

  59. Ba RB,
The evacuation of these GOVT.OFFFICES to hospitals abroad should start by the recomendations from our very own learned DOCTORS.

    [CLEAN AND REPAIR OUR HOSPITALS]

  60. **==

its sad to hear from the Head of state such ‘ boastiful’comments!!how on earth he cant concentrate on upgrading our local hospitals? chabulanda sana….

  61. SHREK can afford to utter such words because:
    1. He wants to be accorded similar treatment when he gets sick during & after tenure of office,
    2. The money for such expenses is not coming from his pocket.

There is a lesson to be learnt in all this & that is the country will not be developed by our politicians but by the citizens. Therefore the citizens have to be vigilant & hold the politicians accountable for their deeds while in office. In the absence of this, politicians will continue to be arrogant as witnessed by the above statement attributed to SHREK.

  62. Mr Banda no life is more important than another life. Lets suffer together at UTH. Thats what sacrifice is all about. And what about the more than K60m tax I pay per year. Whats my benefit. So if these guys cannot suffer with us how do you expect them to improve our lot?

  63. RB has no shame,he even has the audesity to echo such words when the owners of the money they use to send those old and sick so called government officials abroad for treatmenT are dying of curable diseases because there no drugs at our hospitals and clinics.Ordinary Zambians are contributing money to fund Kabwes Surgery yet them are just enjoying services on a silver plate. Each time i listen to RB or any of his collegues spaek out or comment i lose confidence in this regime. They keep taking us for a ride backwards at high speed.I wonder what tommorrows National budget has in store for us.

  64. As the poor majority but great employers of VIP during elections will continue to await death at UTH and other health facilities dotted around mother Zambia. You come to us during campaigns, cheat us out of our votes, we give authority to look after our affairs. But sooner you are sworn in,with all that authority from the us the great pipo. You get on top with the ladder higher up there. We are left down, watch u at the summit dinning & winning with your generals, ministers etc. We the powerfull poor voters discarded. We are sent abroad for treatment 1 in every 1,000,000 but the apamwamba 1 in every five. We need action to improve health delivery system. My prayeras a poor zambian. Amen

  65. if Doctor Lambart and & Prf Mukonge can perform such a completed operation on baby faith mwape, surely they can treat VJ’s Ifunko?

  66. BLOGGERS, WHAT YOU THINK.

Why cant LT make a provision for us to have profiles on this site, Dont you think that will be lovely, then we can be able to invite friends and we will prompt may others to join.

Think thier IT can do this or can thier server space wont allow??..

  67. any way, i see when he says “….future tasks”, after he retires. I wonder how KK feels, your own brother in law saying such tosh

  69. Hey Wooo!!! This is how villagers think. They think being evacuated to South Africa is a status symbol just like a car is a status symbol in Zambia (sic). They even lie to their girlfriends and say “hey, don’t worry, if we get AIDS, we will be evacuated to South Africa as if they will get cured by the evacuation”. And their girlfriends respond and say “hehe koma naimwe darling, awe mwe, evacuated, uhu, I knew with you anything is possible”. So with this ignorance, how do you develop? CHAPS SIMPLY DON’T GET IT, WE NEED PROPER MEDICARE IN ZAMBIA NOT UBUTUTU, THESE CHAPS MUST BE TOLD OFF. SEEMS LIKE I MUST GET BACK TO STRAIGHTEN THESE CHAPS HEADS.

  70. These politicians should know better than that.going to south africa wont save them if Jah himself want them to go.some went to paris and never came back so its the same just improve the health sector!!!

  71. Improve UTH nyama soya and your friends. I think we shopuld all die in UTH. Poor or rich so that we can improve it.
LORD JESUS COME. COME TAKE US HOME WHERE WE WILL ALL BE EQUAL. NO MORE SUFFERING THERE. WHAT DID THE POOR DO TO THE ONE THEY CHOOSE TO TAKE CARE OF THEM…..jEHOVAH GOD HEAR OUR CRIES. [-o<[-o<[-o<[-o<[-o<[-o<[-o<[-o<

  72. Silly cow…How does this government account for all those innocent babies who died as a result of not havig a generator back up system at the Country’s biggest referal hospital?
KK who has even a healthier body used to go to UTH.His children went to Zambian state schools like Fatima Girls etc.
Someone needs to stand up for those innocent lives in Zambia.

  73. #102, Cutey, Teto Chikulu nikuti mulungu ati sunga taukanso lelo. Work is killing me gal, i dont blog anymore. hope uli che?? 😡

  74. Mulibwanji pa Zed boonse manje iyi nkani yalula who will evacuate my dad in chikonkomene when he will need specialist care?Very very unfair the poor they just need to improve UTH please is it because bambili batoping’ipo chabe I mean bali pama top up pills??:(|)

  75. RB, Having ignored the people who put you to power, who even pay you through tax, is enough of torture on its own. You do not even need to remind us of your ass-hole business! Your turn will come and don’t expect mercy on that! Meet you soon. By the way too much of :-@ might cost you a lot.
