UPND’s Hakainde Hichilema defends his meeting with RB

Share

hhakaindeUnited Party for National Development UPND- president, Hakainde Hichilema, says his meeting with President Rupiah Banda should not be politicized.

Mr. Hichilema says he met the president to consult with him on a range of issues affecting the nation.

He says the meeting gave his party an opportunity to make suggestions on the economic recovery of the country.

Mr. Hichilema says the substance of the meeting was essential and it is up to government to accept the UPND proposals or not

Mr. Hichilema told ZNBC news that the two discussed issues relating to the economy and job losses in the Mining Sector.

He said the meeting also looked at the need for voter registration and the electoral system in the country.

The meeting also looked at the need to speed up the completion of the National Constitutional Conference so that the money being spent on the programme is channeled elsewhere.

On Thursday, President Banda held a consultative meeting with Mr Hichilema.

The Church and various civil society groups have welcomed the meeting between President, Rupiah Banda and an opposition leader.

The civil society organizations said dialogue is the only way in which solutions to challenges facing the country can be found.

Council of Churches in Zambia Secretary General, Susanne Matale, told ZNBC news that the meeting between Mr. Banda and UPND leader, Hakainde Hichilema is a positive development.

And Caritas Zambia Executive Director, Sam Mulafulafu, said it is the hope every Zambian that the discussion between the two leaders will bear fruit.

Meanwhile, Zambia Congress of Trade Unions president, Leonard Hikaumba has appealed to other organisations and political parties to uphold dialogue and avoid confrontation.

Chief Government spokesperson, Ronnie Shikapwasha, has urged political parties to put their differences aside and work towards developing the country.

Lieutenant General, Shikapwasha says government is willing to work with all Zambians in its efforts to develop the country.

General Shikapwasha who is also information minister says government is ready accept ideas from opposition political parties that can contribute to the development of the nation.

    • We said, sometimes i tend to wonder what the purposes of such meeting are? what do they talk about…hopefully he does not abandon his party and defect to the MMD

    • These meetings are welcome for every transparent democratic dispensation in a nation. As an example in very simple terms I will put it like this: In his manifesto HH say we shall provide free education. RB finds that it is difficult to implement that option. When RB and HH meet to discuss this issue HH will tell RB what he could have done to implement free education – if RB is agreable then he adopts HH’s suggestion.
Currently most party cadres are fond of saying they store a clause from our manifesto etc., etc. If something is good in the opposition manifesto and looks viable Govt should not feel shy to adopt such good ideas from outside their party. All parties are fighting 4 better…

    • Interparty meetings are ideal platform of consolidating democracy, fostering stability and building political confidence countries need to overcome counterproductive power play.Lets encourage politicians to mutually engage each other and discard the a culture of mistrust.I applaud the two leaders for the leadership of acting above partisan intrigues for the common good.Such is progressive politics we need.

    • Indeed such is what progressive politics are all about instead of insulting due to bitterness of having lost an election. Keep it up President RB Banda and president H. Hichilema. I hope other weak political parties due to internal fighting will emulate your two big political parties, MMD and the UPND, that have shown leadership in our quest to get National Development.

    • Sometimes I wonder what’s there to hide on economic meetings, isn’t it to our benefit to understand what models they’re discussing to pull the economy to its right level? There isn’t enough explanation to render the above news other than a waste of time on the read… A little meat to the bone would be nice… With no explanation as it is would mean soliciting the who affair to be politicized

  1. Mr Hichilema and RB meant to discuss issues affecting the national welfare. Mines , NCC and the electoral system are surely issues about the nation as a whole. This shows how it takes one intelligent man to show the other likely intelligent fellow the way forward. Not only does the religious section alone welcome this move, the nation as a whole supports it. Let us unite and focus on these matters. This is a very good example of understanding which leads to development. Zambia has always been a peaceful environment and this will continue to invite foreigners to come and invest in our beautiful country. Positivity will bring productivity . I salute you both leaders =D>

  2. No Striper,HH can not leave UPND for MMD. The youngman was just pumping sense in that empty head. Which is good for Zambia, the youngman is an Economist!!!!

    • Ok Imebo,

Thanks for your analysis of HHs visit and capabilities. Maybe it’s a good thing that RB is being kept in check. RB looks and seems very zombie-like that i sometimes wonder what goes on in his head. Right now i am giving him credit for stopping his globe trotting and spending more time at home.

    • If it was a closed door meeting then their is room for suspicion we can not trust HH the young man is hungry for money and very fast to utilise any slight opportunity. The meeting should be televised or made public or else we will speculate!!!! (1. In what capacity was HH invited to state house{ecnomist?, small political party president? or like Nawakwi?) We all know that RB is the most corrupt presdt we have ever had, its possible that HH got something from state house

    • Good move.Good for both of you and the Nation at large. Now when will the consultation meeting happen between RB of MMD and MCS PF?
II think he has something to offer too.
HH asks us not to politicize the meeting. When politicians meet we POLITICIZE,When christians meet we christianize, when bandits meet we suspect, when temperatures change we think in line with weather.Various issues affecting the nation (polical-economics)

    • #3.2 I would not ascribe to the notion that UPND is a small political party . It has 22 honorable MPS whose positive contributions to the nation and respective constituencies can not be denied. I am made to believe that the UPND initiated the dialogue process I stand to be corrected . This as already stated elsewhere is good for the nation and in line of modern politics

    • Chicks your argument sounds like a person suffering from serious brain damage and mental disorder! In fact such careless talk can land you in trouble! and do not think you are safe by advancing such insinuations and innuendos through the blog. Can you prove RB’s corruption? Can you prove HH is hungry for money? RB and HH did just what we zambians have been calling for – dialogue to develop Zambia. What has gone wrong with some Zambians like YOU? You should understand that some information must be held back until the right time! Can u please demonstrate substance in your comments and not just opening your mouth anyhow like a hippo in the water!

    • Chicks you are sick in your head. HH wrote to RB a few weeks ago for the two leaders to exchange notes on the current state of affairs. Don’t show the whole world how ignorant you are! Haven’t you noticed that worldwide such meetings are behind closed doors and only a communique is issued after wards. Right now there is a meeting of finance ministers of wealth nations. Which journalist have seen attending that meeting? AMANO. To tell you the truth HH is sharper than those ifikopo in PF and MMD. I listened to him in KT last week. The man has a vision

    • when Obama meets and works with Republicans, we praise it as the wholemark of America’s democracy and prosperity, when Zambian politicians dialogue we want to insunuate….ba Chicks, what dullnes is that????

Twachula pafula, you have a point, lets give credit where its due….HH is more sharp and honourable than most crap politicians we sing praises for!

    • Chicks do you read newspapers? This meeting has been long over due folowinf president HH’s reaction to the national budget for this year and other pressing issues like Mine closures which have been leaving people jobless.

It is shocking to see the PF cadres are always hostile to reading and education. What a shame indeed.

  3. Hope our leaders will learn to serve their people first, meant their masters who put them in office. We hope for positive and constructive discussions among you politians so that Zed can go forward like the UPND motto

  4. Let us wait and see coz this is how Nervous Mumba also started meetings with LPM in the name of dialogue. I cant comment further.

    • I smell a rat too.Would have loved HH to stay in the opposition so that RB does not take the Zambian people for granted.

    • Nothing is better than dialogue on the political scene . Problem actually is that HH is still a novice in politics (my opinion ) going by the statement alluded to him that the meeting should not be politicized. How is this ? Anyhow dialogue is still a good recipe for national stability and peace

    • you dont you know dat journalists are fake en want to make money so they choose fake titles.
dialogue is healthy for the nation but pliz teach bwezan not to be a very gud samaritan by giving hichilema back wat he used for erection campaign

    • You should be wise clown not wise man. It’s typical of Zambian to politicize and speculate over such meetings. If you are wise you could have seen exactly what HH is talking about on this blog. Already people like you are busy bastardizing the substance of that meeting. I fail to understand dull chaps like you. Haven’t you seen that even rival businesses are meeting to strategize on how they ride over this turbulence. Stop Sata politics of thinking you can only mingle with your opponents when on your death bed. Don’t you have colleagues of different professions, political affiliation, faith, religion, race, colour or tribe. Does it mean you cant meet them to discuss a common problem?

    • Twachula … you have released serious data that novices in national matters have been taking lightly. President HH is doing a great service to Zambia and Zambians.

In fact, this is not the first time he has had such a presidential meeting with GRZ leaders I think. If my memory serves me right president HH met late former President LP Mwanawasa to discuss high level national problems which produced positive results for Zambia.

Open your eyes Zambians and stop following the Undereducate blindly as he is now a political novice who has failed to use his almost 50 year experience in Zambian politics to benefit our great nation. This is the 21st Century and Zambians must elect serious men.

  5. Infact HH helped propel RB the zombie into power by not heeding to advice for UPND to merge with PF during the last elections. If this had happened, Sata would be president today and HH would be VP and we wouldn’t be in this limbo we are in today with this blood-thirsty zombie as president.

    • He always looks tired and exhausted from donkeys years.Maybe now it is the age…but with a young missus like T what do you expect ?

    • Zambia,#6 I didnt know that u r so dull,so u wanted HH 2 go 2 SATA ,but why din’t YO sata go to HH 4 a merge…….u r sugesting that sata shud have been a president and HH a vice…….sorry 4 that low thinkin of yoz boy/gal….how I wish u new how domant a veep is ..why cant yo shallow thinking sugest one 2 b a prime minister 2 the other…mind u this needs big pipo 2 understand…a veep doesnt control no a ministry..

    • listen PF and UPND can not merge you numb skull.the two come from different schools.PF by nature are a violent party with a president who is violent.history has it and at one time he was even clobbered by women marketeers at kabwata market.if you have forgoten go to the post and dig in their archives.on the other hand UPND membership with it’s Mps and president are gentelemen. Just compare the standard of PF mps and UPND mps in parliament.their contribution and behaviour. So fyapusana.menshi na oilo

    • Hellow all bloggers! Iam really touched by the positive comments coming from my compatriots. The meeting between HH and RB cant and should not be politicised coz the current crisis in Zed is not only peculiar to zambia but the all world. Therefore what we need is a wholistic approach to solve the problems that has rocked our beloved Zed and its hypocritical to politicise the current crisis for every country in the world is feeling the pinch.Next should be Sata.

    • True the Undereducate needs to learn how to do 21st Centruy polics from presidet HH and President RB Banda. His politics are sadly those of stone throwing and chasing those who oppose his ideas which are of the 1964 type when we as Zambia were fighting for political independence.

If the Undereducate and his PF are not careful, they will remain behing terrible and only realise that they have been funny comedians when they are out of the equation in 2011 possibly.

      Just wait and see.

    • Um…. actually “Zambia” – the ‘blood-thirsty zombie’ you speak of fortunately did not become the president, and continues to sulk while his fellow opposition members engage in meaningful dialogue for the nation’s benefit. Do you think that with your preferred candidate in power, you would even enjoy the freedom of speech you currently have, yet misuse by miscontruing reality? Read back on how your said contender sent machete-wielding gangs to force Chiluba’s third term on people, then maybe you’ll think again about who the ‘blood thirsty zombie’ really is. PF and UPND are like oil and water, and should never mix.

    • Terrible comment. Ask your Sata to disband the personal to holder PF political party and join president HH’s UPND so that we can have only one major serious opposition political party to challenge the MMD in 2011.

The experience the Undereducate PF leader has may earn him a position of Prime Minister in the possible president HH led Zambian UPND GRZ in 2011.

Know that the disorganised PF with only about 19 non-rebel MPs and 20 or so rebel MPs is smaller than the UPND which has 22 MPs who are all working together in harmony for the benefit of all Zambians.

    • He might be resting seeing he has been studying a lot.But seeing the pic above he will definitely be blogging non stop lol

    • There is a saying in German “Schlafende Hunde weckt man nicht!” which means “Never wake up a sleeping lion” :!!

    • It is so quite here so when he comes he will faint just by finding HH’s picture!! I will email him some water just to get him prepared! :-j :-j :-j :-j :-j :-j

    • Thanks for missing me chief. I am still alive and only went to church yesterday, Sabbath, and then continued with a church party from 18:00 – 23:30 or so Hrs.

This morning, I just woke up to studying and making corrections to my Thesis. As Hola! has made mention I worked hard last week to submit a Reprt on my 2 months work on VLF radio waves known as Whistlers and I needed enough rest to revitalise my system.

I am curretly working on my Thesis which I have set to complete on Wednesday this week.

However, I am here for Zambia and Zambians and will be here for a long time by God’s grace. Have a blessed day.

    • By the way, a similar story like this one has been on the zambianwatchdog since friday. Check it out and you will find useful comments on there where I contribute regularly. Later.

  6. On the other hand it is their Sabbath and from what I understand it starts late on a Friday so expect him later during the day.

    • I am 400 KM away from the scene (shootings)!! Nine Chale is about a 100KM away. Thank God we are both safe. Our families and friends too. Too bad for those who died and there relatives. Sad indeed.

  7. I admire his loyalty to the UDNP and HH.For me one moment I support Labour the next Conservative lol.Depends on who is doing the right job.

    • # 9 what you are basically saying is that your not a cadre of a political part y, on the other hand you are not aloof to politics because decisions made by the politicians may be binding for a long time to come .Actually the term/ name cadre does not carry a negative connotation not at all, as we often tend to think… The only trouble with cadres is that they see things from their point of view not the other

  8. Hakaivotela Humwine is trying a unifying partisan approach to political prostituting. He should just forget that he can rule Zambia. Not him and not in his life.

    • You sound foolish my friend! Every Zambian has the right to aspire for presidency. You are not the the 12 million zambians yourself to think like that. Do not behave like Mugabe who told Tshangirai that he would never rule Zimbabwe unless he (Mugabe) was dead.

That is beaut without brains approach to issues.

There a million Zambians that want HH’s contributions just like anybody else.

Who are you condemn HH? what have you yourself done for zambia?

    • bakalamba,if the first two words in your sentence are bemba words then remove the Hs.
There is no bemba word which begins with H to the best of my knowledge.secondly HH still has a lot of years ahead of him unlike your man whom i believe i know you die for.he is the one who will never rule zambia.more over if zambians voted on the basis of how someone articulate issues and how he understands the economy then HH stands out.

    • Ba Mwaiche Akapondo,
dont tell me you are on sloppy diet. You mean there are no peope in Bemba with names starting with H? There is no Henry ,Humphrey, Happy or Hellen? bonse ni ba Enry, Amprhy, Appy na ba Ellen?. For your information, Sata is not my man/pres. and Iam not Bemba. Iam actually non partisan and living in a global village.
HH is going to continue losing all the elections till his dying day , same with Sata,. twabwelapofye umungulu. RB is a statue representing peaceful Zambia.Nothing more or less.

    • Is HH a politician in Zambia? I think is not presidential material. Lets just forget about him than wasting our energy in thinking he can rule. It is a closed chapter about him.

    • Spot on Kambongolo.

Problem is, some bloggers are too opinionated. Just as crooked as H.H. himself, bang!.

  9. #10hatred does not pay. World over developed and developing nations have leaders in govt and opposition meet every so often to chat the way forward. Obama met McCain, Brown meets opposition leader in parliament, Mugabe is working with Morgan for the betterment of the people. Sata two days ago discontinued his presidential petiton, will it be in order for us to think that he was bribed by RB to drop the case. My thinking is that Sata saw that there was no need because at the end of the day RB is president. You can not change things. If in 2011 the court ruled that Sata had won the election in 2008 what diference would it have made to the people of Zambia. We need civility in Zambian politics

  10. HH you are an opposition leader not Presidential advisor, send your MPs with these ideas to parliament and change laws there, not these shady state house meetings. Only Sata currently knows the role of the opposition in a democracy; to keep the government in check!!

    • No…. even the UK’s Labour Government has on many occasions adopted the Conservative Party’s policies. In my opinion, politics can also serve a useful avenue for consolidating the ideas of both the incumbent government and opposition parties, instead of just facilitating bickering and hostility which helps no one. Sata can play, and has played, a useful role in shaping some MMD policies (particularly urban), so there is no problem with this meeting between RB and HH. Leaders everywhere do similar things in national interest. I think PF has simply encouraged a ZANU-PF mentality of causing discord and controversy where there is none.

    • Your blog is devoid of any sound reasoning and your assertion that only Sata currently knows the role of opposition in a democracy even goes to further show how dull you are. Its either you are too young to know zambian politics or have been away too long are just an outright midget! If Sata to you represents the vision for Zambia, then I understand why Zambia is where we are today…..myopic allegiances! Can you compare HH’s understanding of economical issues to Satas….you are a joke! If most Americans were like you, Mcain would be USA president today!

  11. I dont think there is anything wrong with that meeting in itself. The problem is, it is a timing miss. At this stage every available voice must be used to condemn Bwezani through and through. This is no time to start sharing notes. Quite diplomacy does not work with guys like Bwezani. To that extent, I feel the party man boobed. These are times when the agenda must be clear and loud to all to see.People must not just be content with state house invitation. Much as he may have his own issues, I have alot of respect for the general Godfrey Miyanda.
I want to encourage everybody out there that share my sentiment about Godfrey to begin beating the drum for the man.

    • I have been beating drums for the General since his expulsion from MMD with his attractive manifecto”Village Concept” but alas no one was coming forth to dance, worse still Sata compounded the stuation by spreading false information to the uneducated potential voters that the Village Concept meant the General will send them away from town to villages, which is not true. The problem with sata is that he thrives on lies which is bad for a leader.Right now ,Iam on a break,my hand are in pain,I cant beat the drums anymore.

  12. #6, HH did not propel RB by refusing not merging UPND with PF. UPND and PF are like oil and water, they can’t mix. Where PF was no.1, UPND was no.3; where UPND was no.1, PF was no.3. The two are too far apart; by wide very margins. If the two merged, their supporters would rather vote for MMD; this is a statistical fact. HH is a loser and more so Sata and his PF. MMD got votes/victory on its own national merit. MMD and UPND are closer though by their democratic credentials as against an autocratic and dictatorial PF founded 9 yrs ago no single intra party election to date. UPND needs MMD and not otherwise, but dialogue is usually good. A leopard can do better with wings.

    • “MMD and UPND are closer though by their democratic credentials as against an autocratic and dictatorial PF founded 9 yrs ago no single intra party election to date.”

Are you saying HH rose to the Presidency democratically? Where were you?

    • At least there was a (sham) election. Saki was acting president of that UPND party for 1yr while Andy was unwell. Saka promised to remain UPND win or lose but after he was defeated massively, he had to poison the party; am sure you are refering to his uterances. UPND cadres should speak for themselves, but that was my conclusion after following the events. UPND has definately more democratic than PF; thats my main point. And if you gave all the votes that HH got that from Southern Province to Saki, Saki would still have lost. I remember adding those numbers; so Saki is just a bad loser from my point of view, and by the way he is my friend. RB has an open door policy which is very good.

    • ba Dark Knight check your facts again….Iron Bull has the facts right! Saki just lost and cried tribal like most bad political losers do. PF and Democracy ?????? judge ye for thy self!

    • Terrible PF supporters will always want to become tribal, but please leave them in the old politics of the Undereducate. Let us who have the interest of Zambia at heart continue doing what is right for our Great Nation – for we only have one Zambia that is One Nation.

  13. Iron Bull, so Zambians are foolish by voting Sata within 2% “Govt. sponsored RB”? Let’s not put up smoke and mirrors here, look at the election numbers and preceeding bye-elections.

    • PF cadres fighting among themselves. Typical behaviour of their Undereducate led PF political party that has had its leader fighting others, female MPs fighting and using insults aeven at our respectable Parliament buildings, etc.

      Very sad.

  14. Dark knight mwa ponta sana naimwe.Ati pf dictatorial nanikane sure. Mulishani ba guy? And how have you been?

  15. Tusha, what do you hope to gain by condemning RB? Will your condemnation develop this country? Let us offer sensible solutions instead of condemnation.

  16. Good move RB and HH if what you say is what was discussed. No two way about it ,we need such discussions if Zambia has to survive.

  17. Tongas also and selling out, I will not be suprised to hear this was just a good for nothing meeting `under the tree’ only for the benefit of Hakainde’s ambitions to clean himself of the tribal stench he is emiting everywhere he goes.

    • Ba michael mukwai, ubufontini bwa babemba nga imwe ebwalenga ati tushalile nakunuma pantu fwe ba bemba tulayumfwa chimo nelo tapali efyo twaba.we are the worst tribalist than the tongas.because if we were not and if were civilised a chequred politician with sata’s past will not have gannered the support that he has.in 2001 the man was acting like a janjaweed brutalising perceived MMD oppornents with marchets on the same score championing the third term.if all this were attributed to another politician other than a bemba he would not have the support that sata has.

    • We kapondo wasosa.I still remember Sata ordering MMD thugs to hack opposition supporters during the Chawama by-elections in which Samukonga(FDD) emerged victorious. If that isnt enough,he engineered the expulsion of his long time friends just or opposing the infamous third term bid.I dont easily forget and I fear for everyone if such a man becomes in-charge of the Police and the army.

    • Akapondo! am so humbled by your honest. Its now you and Nkole wamapembwa that I have found to be Bembas that are truly Zambian at heart. Keep it up my brother and you can say that again. You have nicely summed up why Sata is popular and all those arguing other reasons are just hidding behind sticks thinking other can see through when their whole torso is exposed. You are a Zambian my brother and I salute you!!!!! I woundnt mind an email from you!!!

  18. Micheal Mulenga, what have tongas got to do with HH meeting RB? Let us not start this tribal nonsense this morning please!

  19. I think HH needs to be commended for meeting RB to discus important national issues.I hope the spitting cobra will do the same

  20. why meeting witout details of agenda? We need to know their dircetion for Zed. I dont blame the critics of this meeting

  21. SATA ploys on the miseries and plight of the poor by mocking the poor but at the same time promising them to undo their circumstances without an iota of proof of how he would achieve that. SATA will walk the muddy waters in apparent solidarity to the poor but will hide that he would demolish their shacks in the middle of rain season if he ascended into power. He has done it before. The poor and desperate for for his device and unquestionlly follow his ploys. SATA dares to use the poor circumstances of the peope to hoodwink them. The blind sheep see not.

  22. So by all means, it is far much better to deal with HH than SATA. SATA will not be genuine in any circumstance. He is too greedy for power.

  23. SATA is the worst person to have as President and thank GOD that SATA will never be President of Zambia whether in this life or the next.

  24. A rumor is making rounds in the corridors of Lusaka that HH is to replace George Kunda as VP in the next reshuffle

  25. I like ur comments today. most of them are future focussed and thats a good sign. keep on being objective and reasonable for this is the only way Zambia will move forward.
    GOD BLESS!!!!

  26. HH is a positive leader who is thinking ‘national’ and not ‘self’ like some other opposition leaders who think their role as opposition is to oppose. May be the parties not in government should be termed ‘alternative parties’ or something and not ‘opposition’ because they get confused with the terms. It is good that HH is not confused about the term ‘opposition’.

    • Nice contribution. Some lost souls think that when you are in an OPPOSITION POLITICAL PARTY then you should oppose everything the ruling GRZ party is doing. Sad indeed, let us learn to give praise where it is due.

  27. Hellow all bloggers!

    • Good points. I have been writing for a long time on this blog that the Undereducate PF leader MC Sata must copy the approach the UPND president HH has taken in Zambian politics of solving all contentious issues with a mind of developing the Nation and also sitting for Grade 7 exams this year so that he can improve his terrible CV which is only fit for being a party cadre and not being at its leadership highest position.

Can someone close to the Undereducate plead with him to disband thePF and join the UPND as a party cadre.
Such a good move is likely to benefit all Zambians.

  28. The political leaders have one common goal and that is to save the country and its people. So HH and RB’s meeting is welcome in Zed.Hope all was done in good faith and for the sake of Zedians **==

    • On “The political leaders have one common goal and that is to save the country and its people”, while this is what must be obtaining on the ground it is very sad to note that the opposite to this great statement is what the Undereducate and his PF political party stand for.

      Very very sad indeed.

  29. HH is a visionary. Having listened to his discourse at Hotel Edinburgh. I know this meeting was centered on economic recovery. He must have talked about increased budget allocation to Agric and Tourism if diversification is to be a reality rather than lip service. He talked about reducing expenditure on consumption and increasing capital expenditure. He talked about reducing the funding to NCC and its winding up. He talked about electoral reform, dangers of foreign trips and blotted entourage. He talked about finding lasting solution to the mining situation. This is modern day way of politics. Others are still muli chachacha. Still striping to protest. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

    • Nice sharing. Indeed the UPND 2011 elections campaign has taken a serious route on the Copperbelt and within this period if extended carefully to Luapula and Northern Provinces would yield great results in the aftermath of the upcoming tripartite elections.

Let go UPND Team, only a little time is remaining before the next elections.

  30. You haven’t seen or read that there are only two political parties that employ strippers every time they want to protest. PF and UNIP. For UNIP I wouldn’t blame them because that was one of the primitive ways that were popular at the time. I guess they have moved on. Hey I think PF, it’s coz their leader is a remnant from from the old guard. Mayo nebo nafwa even MMD aha, we will see strippers at state house one of these days

    • Way to go and it is only time that will tell. All the best to all the UPND Team and its supporters world over.

  31. HH does not come out as presidential material to me personally. And I have my own preferences and reasons which I am entitled to.With the economy going down Zambia needs an economic genius to steer us through this time.He seems to be an opposition in the capacity of the likes of Tsvangirai. And if people think he is able because he is an economist then the youg Dambiso Moyo should also be considered. If anything she is by far more qualified than him.Zambia needs the minds of the Mangade,Fundanga etc who understand the depths of our country’s economy.Sata is very good at being the oppositon so that this govt does not mess up but NOT as the president. I think he needs to hand over that to…

    • #42 Totally in agreement on this one ,Lets look beyond Sata and HH as I have repeatedly given my opinion there are people in Zambia that can do better without being haunted by their past

    • I agree with you entirely, but given to chose between HH and Sata, HH is the logical choice by far, dont you think?????

  32. Twachula Pafula if HH baffles you in Kitwe you need to listen to Dambisa Moyo who the British Media can’t just get enough!

    • HOlA, am sure ENGINE BULOKO is refering to the zambian situation.Dambiso moyo is zimbabwean and she can’t come in our scenario not so.but what i can just agree is that in the modern era with the economic challenges we are facing now we need more of her breed.it reminds me of one DORICA MWANZA who used be at BANK OF ZAMBIA years ago and used t feature on chibamba kanyama’s business review programme on ZNBC then.i dont know where she is now.those were people we should have been looking up to
Same with late MEEBELO MUTUKWA MHSRIP the guy was a marvel to listen to.

  33. General PK… I personally think such meetings engender speculations like the example you’ve given. It makes you wonder why people should be left in the dark unless there are ulterior motives or issues of national security. But in this national security is not one of them
. It kind of reminds me the old school when old folks would rather not divulge much of their rationing on a particular action for fear of exposing weaknesses in their judgment but rather scream down their opponents into submission to their own ideas.

  34. For me HH is advancing a genuine cause by calling for a meeting with RB. However, he must be wary he is dealing with a ‘different’ man from himself, and it is possible the RB camp may be interpreting the meeting differently from the HH camp and hence the meeeting might not yield necessary results that is if it was a consultative one. If the meeting was not a consultative one, i.e. if it was about business, then it should not have taken place. I doubt if that was so. Insinuations that HH could replace GK as VP are baseless. That would be the worst mistake HH would make as he would be completely rendering UPND irrelevant, and leave Michael Sata as the sole 2011 contender, ….

    • Good insight in this comment.
To all those that are speculating about president HH having to replace Veep G. Kunda, please jsut remember the speculations that came with late former President’s closeness with president HH which yielded nothing to the dismay of the POST and the Undereducate MC SATA. Know this that president HH has great advisors who have for a long time now told him not to join the MMD as such a move will completely annihilate the UPND.
Just some few months ago, characters like Undereducate MC Sata arguably were in the forefront claiming that the Zambia Intelligence Services were trying to make sure that president HH succeeds the late LP Mwanawasa. How true was that story?

  35. This is good news. Politics in Zambia is unfortunately marked by incessant bickering between politicians which wastes a lot of time and diverts attentions from important issues. The talents and strengths of all politicians would be best served by not fighting with each other, but finding consensus on the challenges affecting the nation. They after all, all claim to be serving the interests of Zambians, and they can best do this through constructive criticism and putting their minds together to come up with solutions for the nation’s benefit. I support this move, and it just makes me ever more confident in HH’s ability to lead the country effectively.

    • Great comment. President HH has shown this trait of dialogue ever since he came on the political scene.

If you all remember correctly, Mrs/Ms Joyce Nonde tried to use women to decampain president HH is the 2006 elections when he said that Mr ULP leader Sakwiba Sikota was behaving like a woman for not remaining united with the rest of the UPND Team after the latter lost the UPND presidential election and took a chunk of UPND people to form a new party and also join PF.
What followed was that president HH arranged for a meeting with FFTUZ leader Mrs/Ms J. Nonde where they discussed the matter and HH apologised to everyone involved. Such is what we need in a TRUE LEADER.

  36. Can some one convince me that HH can make a good president. I doubt if he has any abilities of making a good presido

    • Sara dear, don’t waste your time on HH. He is not a politician. Since his birth, never has he dreamed of being a president. Selfish people forced him into it just because he had accumulated Billion of kwachas through privatization which the thief Chiluba embarked on. The guy shows in black and white that he is not a politician. He lacks the qualities. Let him just concentrate on being a manager which suits him very well. There is a difference between a leader and a manager.

    • think and consult my brother. Dont prejudice because u might miss the “point”. After carrying out consultations stop and think. Questions to ask urself are: 1) is he better than the rest? 2) why do i seem not to like this man, is’t because of his tribe? 3) what do i want for my children and the children of my children? finally what is his history like? thereafter make ur decision on who to support.
      Progressive mind GOD BLESS!!!!

    • What can you tell me bro. Your HH is not presidential material. Continue living in utopia with him. Hahahahaha HH a president of Zambia heheheheh….hjihjihjiiiii!!!!!!

    • Kambongolo take, 5.
This is what I meant in No.#10. Hakaivotela Humwine haha ha ha hahhh!!
He needs to attend underfive political clinics for life. These people are selfish, arrogant and too opinionated …

    • Kabongolo – perhaps what Zambia needs less of are sweet-talking politicians and more people who can actually do a good job. The problem with most accusatory posts on LT is that they lack any solid empirical evidence to support their claims – does acquiring money through privatisation policies make HH a bad person? Not if he did so honestly, and I haven’t heard otherwise. In fact, it just shows that he has sound business sense, and might be able to propel Zambia’s economy forward in a meaningful way. A good leader IS a good manager – Zambia is where is it today because its leaders have not managed the country well. Those two things are not mutually exclusive.

    • Nice comments PLOT ONE and Citizen. Be advised though that some of these characters are tribalists. They are quick trying to point out that president HH is not a suitable leader, but also faster than heir hearts to encourge him to join the UPND to PF where he should be Vice President to Sata. What a breed of terrible Zambians these tribalists are.

      Have a blessed day.

    • No mistake sisi. HH is an example of 21st century leaders. He is business friendly and therefore investor friendly. We are talking about job creation and povert reduction, investiment in education and infrastructure development. This is the Zambian dream sister. Remember to analise whatever u read or hear and take a position after examining facts.
      Peace unto ur mind!!!

    • my sister can you first of all tell me how you disqualify him.and can you be bored enough to tell me who in your opinion befits to be president among the two. sATA and HH.

    • While I wait to read the Sarah Jones’ comment. I will make mention that the sister claims to be Tonga by Tribe who supports the Undereducate MC Sata. I am keen too to read what her responses to your questions will be.

  37. I think in 2011 we should be voting to see the likes of Mangande and prof Chirwa in State House not these Circus people.

    • While I agree to you notion, I would like you to remember that Zambia is about 750000 square kilometres in area. Prof. C. Chirwa is a great man to consider but his strategy to take the opportunity that had appeared when late former President LP Mwanawasa was going to leave the Presidential ambitions owing to his two terms coming to an undisputable end, that gap has now been filled by President RB Banda who has a second term to consider. Just check hos President RB Banda is crashing down all those who are potential threats to his quest like Mr N. Magande, whom you support, and probaly Mrs M. Mwanawasa (Hon. Doc., ?).
Prof. C. Chirwa will have to mobilise Zambians from all 9 provinces.

    • This will have to be done hopefully under a new political party, but my own impressions are that it will do badly in the 2011 elections due to time factor which is not on his side.
He however has an option of joining the peaceful and good conducive environment in the UPND or the alway hostile chasing each other party of PF under the undemocratically clinging to power unelected PF leader Undereducate MC Sata. In both these mentioned parties, Prof. Chirwa will probably be expected to have a consistent time of being a member before he can aspire to contest each of its presidency. This is the dilemma he is in.

    • As for Mr N. Magande, the man just has to re-join his original political party the UPND when his MMD MP tenure ends in 2011. My opinion is that he can not take with him alot of MMD cadres if he were to come up with a new political party. So, if Mr N. Magande, who by the way has been invited by the Undereducate PF leader MC Sata to join PF, is to re-join the UPND, he stands a chance of replacing president HH in 2016 UPND party elections at their wouldbe convention as president HH will not be recontesting the position then according to the UPND manifesto.
Also, it will be great if Mr Saki. Sikota can swallow his pride and re-join the mighty UPND. This would make a great UPND presidential….

    • … contest with men and women like Prof C Chirwa, Mr N. Magande, Mr C. Milupi, Mr. Saki. Sikota, the Wina women, etc.
I am humbly asking the Undereducate PF leader MC Sata to disband his PF political party and join the UPND Team as a cadre. I am also inviting Mr G. Lubinda to go back to his original party UPND so that the Kabwata constituency people whom he represents as MP can have confidence in him again.
I hope all loving Zambians will advise these men and wome to come up with the best UPND Team that we have ever seen. Have a blessed day you all.

  38. Plot One we are not talking tribe here. And personally tribe for me is too elementary. We are talking about the state of this country in relation to the global recession. If you asked me to choose between HH and Mangande I would go for Mangande. This guy has what it takes conmpared to HH.If we let him loose he will be consulting anybody Nyama Soya or Grey Zulu etc.Mangande has shown the Zambian people what he is made of.Do your own comparisons and come up with the right choice.

    • Hola, I again with you, I have stated over and over again on this blog that Magande is the man and I hope he gets a good platform in 2011. But of those who contended, HH stands out!

    • im not talkin abt tribe as well bro. im happy u ‘ve a progressive mind. this is what iam talking abt -“being analitical”. it helps us go for the best. iam talking abt choosing leaders on “principles values” and not the jokes we are witnessing in Zambia during elections. If after analising facts u find magande suitable for the job then go for him.

  39. the cat is out od the bag. HH wentto advise how RB can wield us out of the quag. Response from RB – so far negative on all points. Meanwhile, Teta claims Magande is not a god, and can be hounded out of MMD because of Chilanga losses. Read the Sunday POST.

    • becareful with what the POST writes as much as i give them credit for great things they have done including nailing all these big guys who are treking to jail now.of late they have realy let me down.especialy on their siding with sata.in 1991 just after MMD came into power they warned us the dangers of this man and his habits even exposing the ka quickie he wanted to do that of banking public monies in his personal account in 2006 they vehemently opposed this man and reminded us of his past today they have turned a villain into a hero for economic gains where are the morals.zambia we are at risk

    • I am shocked too that the POST can chose to write editorials showing that the Undereducate MC Sata is tha man for Zambia when in the past they have shown us that the man is irresponsible in light of the behaviour he has shown the whole Nation from his past records. Someone even went to an extend of naming the Undereducate MC Sata as a Cobra – all this showing that the man has a bad behaviour.

By the way, normally anything to do with the name of a snake in the Holy Scriptures has a connotation of the evil. And I wonder how a person who is a Roman Catholic Christian likes to be called COBRA. This reflects a terrible picture on himself and others around him.

  40. HH has shown his immaterial character by going to discuss in secrecy with RB. Now HH is being scoffed by the MMD as RB response was negative almost to every thing HH tabled before him. This behaviour is not of a leader. Why can’t UPND table all its concerns in parliament? Does it mean they are looking for favours in the same way Nervous Mumba did? There is no need to meet under the curtains as if you have something to hide from the public. Any way it’s sad that UPND is dying a natural death.

  41. HH is very concern with the national crisis such that the country’s crisis is meet head on before its too late. Those opposing are unfair to the future of our children.pls have sense of respossibility and love to mother Zambia.

  42. We hereby pray to the Almighty GOD to keep Zambia safe, and in hands of cool and respective leaders.HH AND TEAM WORK HARDER SO THAT NEXT TIME YOU ARE BLESSED WITH THE NATIONAL LEADERSHIP…ONE DAY HH YOU RULE MOTHER ZAMBIA.

  43. HH HAS BEEN WILL BE NOMINATED TO PARLEY AND WILL BE APPOINTED VP SO THAT HE CAN GAIN SOME UNDERSTANDING OF STATECRAFT…….HOW GOVERNMENT OPERATES INSTEAD OF EMPTY NOISES HE HAS BEEN MAKING…. HE CAN ALSO BE AWAKEN FROM DEEP SLEEP TO BECOME PRESI LIKE LPM….

SATA WILL BE DRIBBLED FOR THE LAST TIME…
