RB praised for allocating funds towards research in herbal remedies

Share

A Ndola researcher in herbal medicinal efficacies has commended president Rupiah Banda for considering a budgetary allocation towards research in herbal remedies.

Mr. Howard Maila said in Ndola that the provision of the funds elicited in the yellow book was a step in the right direction because it would help local researchers to have a chance to try their findings to scientific litmus test for the use in public domain.

He said the provision of the funds would help to conclude the study of the local remedies by using a larger sample size on a scientific perspective in the quest to find a cure to Aids.

He said the initiative was part of the national security which required support from all stakeholders.

He said the conclusive findings of the study would put Zambia on the world map as the country was making gigantic steps in combating the pandemic.

He said the ministry of finance should not delay with the disbursement of the allocated funds for researchers to start work soon.

He added that it was important for research to be commenced quickly when the plant materials were still fresh.

He said the 18 months time frame for the study should be enough to accommodate all the necessary research works to yield the conclusive results.

  1. Can all the good meaning debate on how best this can be achieved successfully for the benefit all Zambians . This is in the right direction , this chemistry Teacher needs our support . Most drugs are a discovery by serendipitous acts and most are from animals and plants …….fulfilling the writhing of, you shall have dominion over all plants and animals …..

  2. Herbal remedies are of particular interest to RB because he needs them to protect himself in state house since the tunnels are now useless

  3. Herbal and TBAs coincidence ? ,nothing is scientifically coincidence but serendipitous ….. . Consolation though ,the budget was released long time ago …..so not a case of coincidence .So we support the chemistry teacher

  4. Herbs have healed me too. Let’s not joke. Sometimes it’s interesting, how other communities are coming all the way to our country, specifically for herbs; and yet we are sorrounded by herbs that are so valuable. Let’s improve this sector.

  5. I agree 100% with this move by the govt..This should be the start of everything, i wonder why the govt hasn’t put in place such funds for research in IT,Engineering as well Manufacturing in Universities if we had a smart govt leaders except the late LPM we would have developed in a lot areas!!!Kwena ichalo chesu nikatwishi its been ruled by cows!!! :))

  6. bravo RB. credit should be given where it’s due. I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again. RB could turn out to be our best leader ever. wait and see!

  7. I agree #6. I certainly think much of the criticism levelled against him is unduly malicious and unwarranted, particularly from people with knee-jerk oppositionary reactions to all things Government. He should be given a chance to prove himself, instead of engaging in petty propaganda wars and bickering. Sometimes I feel that Zambians complain incessantly about everything, but what we think is better for us would turn out to be even worse than what we have now. It was this sort of mentality that stressed our late President to no end. Perhaps if we changed out mindset, and put pressure on Government on things that MATTER, and just as importantly SUPPORTED it when it does the right thing, you’d be surprised to see things turn out for the better. Our expectations manifest into our reality.

  8. If you continue to expect the negative from your leaders, that is what you’ll get, and most importantly, that is what you SEE by being blinded to the positive. Change your mindset and your reality will follow.
