Government asks PF Leader to prove his allegations

Share

Government has challenged Patriotic Front (PF) leader Michael Sata to prove his allegation that Vice President George Kunda has sold about 1.2 million hectares of land to Chinese investors in Serenje.

Chief Government Spokesperson Lt. Gen. Ronnie Shikapwasha asked the PF leader to provide evidence of his claims.

Rev Shikapwasha said he has consulted with the Vice President who has assured him that he had never discussed, let alone offered any land in Serenje to anyone.

He said it is morally wrong to tell lies about the Vice President or the Chinese .

“I challenge Mr. Sata to give evidence to prove which land in Serenje had been sold by the Vice President and which Chinese paid for it,” he said.

Rev. Shikapwasha was reacting to an article published in the Post Newspaper of Friday 24th in which the Mr. Sata is quoted to have stated that the Vice President had sold all the land in Serenje to the Chinese.

Rev. Shikapwasha who is also Information and Broadcasting Minister described Mr. Sata as a pathological liar who does so in the hope of getting public sympathy or gaining political mileage.

He told ZANIS in a press statement that Zambians are too well aware of the tactics of Mr. Sata and will not be hoodwinked into turning against the government through lies and innuendos.

“Mr. Sata would like the public to believe that he is a better and morally upright leader should refrain from campaigns of lies and innuendos,” he added.

He said government is aware that the PF is facing serious difficulties wining votes in Chitambo constituency in Serenje District where the party is contesting the parliamentary seat.

On the National Constitutional Conference (NCC) , Rev. Shikapwasha has advised to consult with its officials in order to establish whether or not the NCC Act has a provision for extension of its life and determine whether it can complete its work within this year.

Mr. Sata has also alleged that Vice President had no reason to suggest the extension of the current sitting of the NCC, a legally constituted body that is meeting to adopt a new constitution for Zambia.

  1. But we have heard rumours about land being sold to chinese investors for Jatropha cultivation. What has changed today? What is the extent of the land being given then because I do rememeber that there was even an article in one of the daily papers which LT published saying something like a Mr Simwanda was in northen province to look for land to be bought for jatropha growing in partnership with Chinese investors.

  2. First of all can the president prove that he got 100% vote in N W Province in the last elections as he claimed during Mswati’s visit. And you Shikapwasha can you prove that you are a reverend because your utterances do not befit a reverend.

  3. exactly #3! is shika mmd or GK’s spokesperson? these guys can act like real fools, i know they are not , they are just trying to fatten their bank accounts – playing to the gallery huh! shika is shameless nshyatalamonapo! anyway……….

  4. #2 Dongo whatever, are you one of the Taiwanese foreigners hired by the PF to advise them on policy. I would advise you in future to learn the geography of Zambia before taking on such appointments. Serenje is NOT in Northern Province. Serenje is in Central Province.

Only a Taiwanese Foreigner hired by the PF can confuse the two.

  5. Dear Satanamiacs indoctrinated in Satanacracy,

Ever wondered why your years of fantasy remain inconsequential, in vanity, intangible, bleak, and hopelessly of unchartered waters?

Well, Dive in the real world and you will understand dynamics of contemporary politics better. It’s not for funny that Applied Politics is detailing on Conversion rate and the pearls of leadership. Politics is not about how much you can insult, and become subversive on public institutions. It’s neither about how you can fuel fantasy of disillusioned hateful kids but drive a useful conversion rate of apathetic citizens into a bank of constitutionally authentic willed voters which your so called PACT has lamentably failed to score on.

  6. Today all you have done is use and finish each other in the PACT by making most self damaging unpatriotic decree statements and ultimatum a patriot would never ever make.

  7. You don’t burn yourself toting confusion on the unconverted citizenry full of doubts, suspicion and unanswered fundamental questions about your cause and background. Zambians are way too smart and unmoved if you can’t justify why incumbent must go and who is the alternative moral, enterprising, transactional and transformative leader. In the face of an indelible extreme public record the democratic people have, you have a long and rough route of illusions even 10 more years of trying with your defacto self anointed leading man.

  8. The Excerpt herein can never be more self vindicating as put. You are far left extremist liberal idealists distant from the sphere of realism and mature political mapping. You have a long way to understand and force the real world to curve your anarchical dream. You don’t excel by subverting a people’s government and hope to drive home a winning conversion of votes. You don’t expect public solidarity or stirring change without selling an alternative credible power structure to fill the foreseeable constitutional power vacuum. If you say RB is bad, you ought to have some smart strategist who can swing comparative politics of credible winning alternative.

  9. “Winston Churchill once said that the young are liberal and think they can change the world but as one gets older they realize the reality of life and become conservative” end Quote. Your Idealism is futureless, disjoint and incongruent to the mind of rationalists, patriots and progressive democrats who have raised the bar rejecting politics of pangas and machete wielding against constitutionalism.

  10. What a resposible government should do is to disprove the allegation and not otherwise.
So, can the government or Shikapwasha tell the nation the extent of the land to be allocated to the Chinese chaps. Unless there is something you are hiding like you always do.
We all remember what RB said about the increment of MPs allowances just before the last Bye-election, which has proved to have been a campaign gimmick. He changed or moved goal posts the moment he was elected President.
We will never trust you guys on your word because you are untrustworthy.

  11. The Economist Magazine reported that they sold the Chinese 2.0m Hectares of Land. So who is telling the truth.

  12. Zambia is a doomed country nothing good comes out of there but only mischeif, corruption, deceit, slander, petty politics and boot licking, poverty and disease. if you see and hear what is happening there you shudder. what a loss of an opportunity!

  13. What is annoying is that these clowns don’t realise that lies always have a finite lifespan. Lie today and you will be defending the same lie tomorrow and when caught, you will ose the little respect you had and be sherperedded quickly to your grave. Be brave and be honest, if you are doing something right then do it candidly!!! Twachula pfula, kabaleya bamambala bamuswamashi!!

  14. The current government is just full of mercenaries, thieves and wolves. It could be true that they’ve sold so much land to the chinese. The problem is they don’t talk about issues that are of interest to the public, like selling of land to so called investors. They don’t even mention the costs. When money comes in, it’s only the politicians who know about it. How are they going to steal if zambians know how much they got for the land? This transparency is missing in this government. That’s why even corruption won’t be fought. The current government has failed and I repeat RB and his friends have failed and should go. Period!

#Senior Citizen, yes zambians are way too smart to be ruled by an imbecile, selfish, corrupt and most insensitive, RB. We need development. RB can’t…

  15. #8 Boolicker, you are right I confused my geography. But if you do follow my postings, I am not antwhere near being a PF supporter because I do not subscribe to mediocrity. Nevertheless, your party was rumoured to have clinched a deal to sell a million hectares for jatropha plantation I may have forgotten exactly where, but what has changed for Gen Shikapwasha to come out strongly on PF? Even the issue of Mr Simwanda having gone to fetch land in Northern Province was still under the same principle – to have Chinese cultivate jatropha. So regardless of whether my map was wrong, answers need to be provided, Sir, Bwana Boolicker.

  16. #8 Bootlicker, by the way, I consider myself a realist and would tend to align myself to people like Gen Miyanda, Prof Clive Chirwa, Mr Felix Mutati, Mr Kabinga Pande, and to some extent Pastor Nevers Mumba if the man of God could tame himself, and just about may be, Mr Magande. I am pleased to have the incumbent just up to 2011 for the sole purpose of not having given Mr Sata a chance to rule otherwise Zambia would have been turned into a gonena-mishanga-seller-run State.

  17. #8 Bootlicker, to show how objective my postings are read my posting under “Selfish employees at LCC allegedly allocating plots – Makanta”. Sorry I have persisted in calling on you just to clear myself and just to show how we need to be debating on the blog.

  18. Has it ever occurred to you that foreign agencies know more about the dealings of the Zambian government than the citizens? welcome to the world clandestine.

  19. I think this PACT is useless because if these guys were serious they could have appointed a spokesman for the pact, and this should have been the guy to issue statements on their behalf. As at now Sata is talking on his own and so is HH. So where is the connection? Zambian politics

  20. Why does it always have to be through rumors that ordinary Zambians learn about big national issues that have untold implications on their lives? Can the government learn to inform and educate citizens on issues of national importance!! Land, in any country, is a very sensitive issue to be approached casually without serious contemplation. If there is one issue with the potential to blow up any society; LAND IS. Any leader who overlooks this fact is simply setting up Zambia for a DESASTER, and in my opinion, that leader deserves a gelatin. The Chines, or whoever, should be very weary of secret deals with corrupt individuals in govt. MMD is not going to be in power forever to protect your shady deals. Be careful not to build your investments on a PILE OF SAND!!!!

  21. # 30,

Ala Sata chinangwa, illiterate and without human conscious irrespective of age.Barking and bitterness are his life lines.Don’t expect him to understand simple metrics. To him 1.2 million hectares of land is like 10 acres. He doesn’t even understand the difference between hectres and acres not mentiong the country land size.

  22. If these are lies they border on libel and slander. Why don’t these guys sue Sata for all his utterances?

  23. # 32. He is a shameless liar. 1.2 million hectares is a very big area. Its half the size of Serenje district

  24. # 32. He is a shameless liar. 1.2 million hectares is a very big area. Its half the size of Serenje district.

  25. I totally agree with all your sentiments that tend to contradict the Undereducate Sata’s ( Grade 3, Unknown) bablings. I , nevertheless, want to pose this question. Suppose it comes to light that the government has actually sold some land to the Chinese ? Wont it tally with the Undereducate Sata ( Grade 3, Unknown) ?

Here I am against the prophets of false dreams ( NKV Jer 23: 32 )

  26. Attention all greetings. Take careful note of some character who has taken the way of the devil in trying to dent my great blogname and character.

I am hoping LT will teach him/er a lesson since I have made contact about this already.

Until the next time, have a good day and be blessed.
