MINISTER of Local Government and Housing Benny Tetamashimba has been admitted to Milpark Hospital in South Africa.
Ministry of Health Permanent Secretary Velepi Mtonga confirmed this in an interview in Lusaka yesterday.
It is not yet clear what Mr Tetamashimba is suffering from, but Dr Mtonga confirmed that he was evacuated to South Africa two days ago.
And Minister of Health Kapembwa Simbao told the Daily Mail earlier that evacuation of patients for specialist treatment abroad is decided by an ad-hoc committee at the University Teaching Hospital.
And the Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation reports that veteran politician Sikota Wina has also been evacuated to South-Africa for medical treatment.
Both Chief Government Spokesperson Ronnie Shikapwasha and Ministry of Health spokesperson Dr Kamoto Mbewe confirmed the evacuation of Mr Wina.

I cant and not sympathise with this teta thing. A lot of people at UTH because the institution is ill equipped. Just a forty night ago there was a mother on the television who was asking for financial assistance to take her daughter to india for kidney transplant but nothing has been done by government. Out of K250 m required, by then they had only managed to raise something like K9 million kwacha. Now teta gets ill he is quickly flown to Milpark even when we know he is suppose to start taking ARVs. This is typical of Zambian politics. Thank God these politician are not gods, if they were would have passed such sickness to poor souls.

The most important of all is to have good health services in our home country so that every Zambian can benefit. Those wishing to have treatment outside the country can use money from their health insurance to which Chilaba, sata, Teta and should also use. Instead of milking the gvt while fighting criminal cases in court. This friday Chiluba’s case will be decided, It is after that that he can start benefiting from gvt for his retirement benefits.
